So, I´d like to know if the Redmi k20 chinese version( with chinese rom or global rom) has widevine l1 support which enables you to watch netflix HD quality.
you can see the DRM info with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfung.drminfo&hl=en.
I imagine the K20 only has L3 so, no HD. But perhaps, there is a workaround for this and that is:
To flash the K20/Mi 9T EEA ROM on the K20, that could give l1 support as the EEA rom supports it and therefore, the k20 would be seen a an EEA Mi 9T.
So, I can´t test this bc I don´t own the phone but I would like to get the Redmi K20 Pro snapdragon 855 (same price as european Mi 9T SD 730) in the future and I want to know if this is possible so I can use the Mi 9T Pro EEA ROM when its released.
Is there anyone with a redmi k20 who is able to flash the EEA Rom and see if they get L1 support?
you can get the ROM here and also the instructions to flash:
https://miblog.co/redmi-k20-eea-10-3-7-0-pfjeuxm/
thanks
i'm pretty sure i've seen it has L1 on a video on youtube, and if i recall correctly it was from Lim Reviews

I already know MI 9T has L1. But what about the K20?
The K20 has not, the Mi9T has
What if the global ROM was installed on the k20.. would it change?

Hi. I'm new in xiaomi and rooting xiaomi phones. What's the difference between Global stable rom and EU rom? I heard Eu rom has faster fingerprint reader but nothing else. Second question...Does 9T arrive with EU rom or Global rom? Another question...Is there any global TWRP recovery for 9T or it's WIP? I'm planning to buy 9T (128gb) from gearbest and want to root it so...
EEA version complies with GDRP, with all tracking/ads removed in system apps (you can switch recomendations off in ad services). I don't know if global has L1 widevine, but EEA has.
Global also have L1

So then what is a difference?
I've used a patch to install one of the early TWRP ports which turned my MI 9T into a Redmi K20 (boot-logo and model name). Now that an official version is out I was wondering how I can revert the changes. Anyone know of any patch or changes I can do myself, so my MI 9T actually shows as a MI 9T again?
Thank you.

Mine ever since i unlocked the bootloader is start showing as K20.
I think that once it's unlock there is no mi9t logos as Xiaomi didn't made them

Wow, interesting. Of course this helped them to achieve this eye-catching price point.
So the model name is still the same?
My mi9t is still a mi9t after unlock and twrp. So xiaomi ofcourse did make the logos and eveything for mi9t and k20.
Eh, you can just flash the logo.img from the Mi 9T stock ROM. Model number depends on the ROM you're using,

Yes, you can use the patch again, or install a stock ROM to get the boot logo.

If your phone is the k30 pro then this comes with the China rom, if you flash the global rom you will get the Poco branding. Since the global and eea is Poco this flashes this rom, however both can be flashed on each region.
If you want similar features to global but on your k30 pro then Xiaomi.eu would be a good choice, it's based on China rom but has no Chinese bloatware.

Have you rooted your phone flashed custom rom? Let's try a fix
You can try to flash my fix under twrp. Make a backup of system before.

Hello,
All Redmi K20 (except Indian models maybe) don't have Widevine L1 certification. Blame Xiaomi for that...
EDIT: It's for K20 "Pro" devices only. All Redmi K20 should have Widevine certification.

What I said looks like it's only for K20 Pro, not K20. Oops...
@dromaczek So, you can lose Widevine L1 certification if you flashed your "persist" partition.

Hello. Is it possible too make migration from EEA ROM too Global ? If yes, how ? Will I loose all my data during this?
I see Miui 12.0.3 Global Rom is available on Miui official site. EEA ROM is only 12.0.2

AFAIK yes (google generally about flashing from MIUI eea to global and vice versa), but you must have unlocked Bootloader to be able to flash (unpacked) fastboot/tgz firmware by XiaoMiFlash tool or by flash_all.bat:
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-miui-global-locked-bootloader-xiaomi-brick/
https://xiaomiflashtool.com/tutorial/use-xiaomi-flash-tool
https://www.getdroidtips.com/guide-.../#How_to_Flash_Xiaomi_Firmware_using_Fastboot
https://androidfilebox.com/tips/how-to-install-miui-fastboot-rom/
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2 (for this guide enable Desktop site or read from PC browser)
I wouldn't do that because of the version. Note that with version 12.0.2.0 EWR / Global was exactly different.
see europe and global alternate constantly. within the next few days the 12.0.3.0 or 12.0.4.0 will also appear, I'm quite sure of that
