[URGENT] Vodafone VNS-L31 - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

...

cmmx said:
Ok, so my brother bought this phone and he's leaving Friday, but there a couple problems with the phone:
On GSMArena it says L31 is a dual sim, but this phone only shows one sim, with no option to use the second one; it could be blocked by Vodafone, but the odd thing is both cards are Vodafone, one Pt, the other UK. Seems all Vdf Pt phones are single sim, regardless, and don't even accept vdf uk cards...
There's no ringtones available, even after factory reset; not even one, so no call sound, only vibration. Nvm, copied the files to the phone and ringtones showed up duplicated, so I deleted the files I had copied and it's all good, now (don't ask how, no clue).
Screen lock option in developer options is on and greyed.
Also, there was a thread here recently where someone unlocked Huawei bootloaders via pm, but I can't seem to find it anymore; anyone can point me in the right direction? I'd like to get it rid of all Vodafone crap.
Current rom is VNS-L31C02B346

Hey dude, i think you misunderstood about unlocking the bootloader.
I personally don't like the idea about paying for read the unlock code, but i think
it's the only method actually working, at least for now.
About your bloated branded cust ( vodafone C02 ), a rebrand will give you
the freedom to use your device as you want.
I will suggest THIS thread because the OP had your same issues ( get rid about VDF brand ).
Feel free to ask..
Good luck :fingers-crossed:
Cheers

Best way to unlock HTC Hero? (Orange)

Hiya,
I've recently bought an Orange HTC hero off ebay
Searching around there seem to be several ways to get around the simlock:
i) Buy a RebelSim
ii) Flash to a Non Orange Rom and buy a unlockcode
iii) Unlock CID lock with bespoke serial cable and buy an unlock code
iv) ??
I'm not so keen on chopping my simcard or option 1 would be the way to go?
option 3 seems the least destructive but I've never been great with a soldering iron!!
is there another option (iv?) ive not yet found or your experiences on the above would be helpfull
Thanks
(ii) is probably the easiest, but before parting with your cash, check that you can definitely get the code for your device. As far as I'm aware http://www.htccode.com does not have problems with Orange phones anymore as long as you've flashed the ROM to something else.
Regards,
Dave
i tryed now to flash generic rom (update-hero-generic-1.76.405.6-signed.zip) i have nandroid, after i flashed rom with goldcard, i also bought the code, but when i enter the code it say sim unlock sucsesful, but is no service.
doas the rom have to be 2.73 generic? or 1.76 generic is also good.
tnx

just a quick one, you did try an orange sim in it didnt you>? make sure its not blacklisted?
checked it
I used a checkmend report before purchase to verify it was legit
There just seem to be specific issues with the orange heros and unlocking
Have a look over that, something about the orange original software stopping the unlock from working,

You may want to read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708962&page=1which is more up to date then this and speaks of the current easy way to unlock a Hero on Orange includes a link to eBay where you can purchase an unlock code.

sim free software

hello got a contract phone from o2 not unlocked if i download samsungs sim free firmware and install will it be sim free or do i have to get it unlocked by o2 still ,,,sorry if its nooby question but search everywhere thanks in advancel
Works both ways. You just have to install an unlocked firmware.
Follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1064894
I thought the network lock would remain even if you install a clean version of the firmware. I might be wrong though?

ca i just change the csc then without doing new firmware leave o2 branded on
I guess its possible. Try searching the thread for the answer. There might be people with similar situations
Adding firmware does not network unlock your phone . Changing the CSC does not network unlock your phone either .
If you wish to network unlock your phone . You can pay mobileunlocked.co.uk £14
Or alternately ask O2 for the unlock code.
I agree with the last post, flashing a generic firmware will NOT remove the sim lock, all that it will do is remove the branding. If you have a contract with o2 thay may give you the network lock code within 5 days although I opted for mobileunlock.co.uk (£14.99) and got it whithin 12 hours.
Once you have flashed the unbranded firmware you will need to do a factory reset to completely remove the branding.
Warning....this will probably change your CSC code, if you send it back to o2 for repair they will know!

Simlock gone

HI EVERYBODY !
I own a z3 D6603 bought with a SFR pack.
I had the custom made by operator then i flashed D6603_23.0.A.2.93_Customized_20FR.ftf then D6603_23.0.1.A.5.77_IT.ftf.
And i found out that my phone is not simlocked anymore
Try it please to confirm that i found a magical solution for unsimlock z3
Isn't D6603 factory unlocked? ....

Do you have tried the FTF that i mentionned ?
Your bootloader status please ?
Flashing a FTF will NOT sim-unlock your phone. It is an impossibility.
It must have already been sim-unlocked before

I just flashed the 2 FTF from the begining with the z3.
And please stop asking me it's impossible it happened.

OK, we will choose to disagree then. Flashtool is unable to touch anything that handles Sim-Unlock. So unless you modified the code it will be impossible.
Your device most likely came Sim-Unlocked.
Sfr France doesn't sim lock the Z3

Every french operators simlocks their phones.
It came factory bootloader unlockeable but simlocked.
For unlock it you can request an unlock code 3 month after you bought the phone.
Mine is just 2 month old.
No matter, i have friends with z3 and i will remake the procedure asap.
The scientists finds thing when questioning themselves not when they say it's impossible and leave it...
I had an SFR phone once an HTC One X, it was unlocked by the French seller before hand, but sim unlock by flashing I have not heard this before, as every other sim locked phone I have had, the simlock was seperate from the firmware except with the Sprint G2. I believe for most carriers its in the bootloader.
Then again my Sprint G2 was unlocked by custom firmware and build.prop edit. So I suppose it could depend on the way the carrier implements the lock.
Interesting, to say the least.
I will check the next week my friend's white z3 (she bought it at SFR) and make a screenshot to show you i'm not crazy XD
It's my third Z3 from SFR.
The first has a NFC and wireless problem, the second a defective touch screen and the third work fine !
I have already tried orange, sfr and free SIM card without any problems.
My Z3 is on the original v98 ROM from SFR, the bootloader is still locked.
Is this still working?
One of my friend had it unsimlocked and it was after procedure and another friend her smartphone was totally sim unlocked out from the box

I think you will find this never worked
Proof or this didn't happen.
The ftf flash as far as I know, does not touch simlock as that in a deeper part of the phone.

We have already discussed this. The OP cannot provide proof that the phone this happened to was not already Sim Unlocked. And in fact when he checked another phone from the same provider it was already sim unlocked.
No one else has managed to get this to work, and as you say, it is physically impossible for flashtool to do this as it does not effect anything to do with SIM lock....
So i lied ?
Why i would do this ?
This thread is MOD edit by @gregbradley, please watch your language
@ Administrators please close the thread thanks
No one had said you lied.
I just think you were mistaken.
However, i will close this thread for you

Problem Updating (VNS-L21C02B346)

Hi, i have a problem and i need a little help!
My sister gave me this Huawei p9 lite VNS-L21C02B346.
From what i can understand the code means that this model is for Greece (c02 is for Vodafone Europe). I think that's ok because when it turns on i can see a Vodafone logo!!
So i am in B346 version, and with a little search i did i see some b393 versions for example but i see that this versions is for Europe (c432).
So i would like to know if i can install this version in my phone. I try to download these versions from 2 different sites and make a dload folder in my sd card with UPDATE.APP file in it and try to update and from dialer and from reboot with holding volume up and down key. But with these two methods when the update starts it fails in 5% and the only choice is to reboot the phone......
I am doing something wrong or is something else i am missing ....
Thanks a lot

Hello,
you've been much lucky you haven't bricked your device this way...
I suggest you to keep phone as is because rebrand needs some complicated procedures.
In any case i can tell you how to proceed, here you are...
1 - you need to unlock bootloader. ( can use DC-UNLOCKER to grab your code )
2 - flash a custom recovery for android 7. ( EliteTWRP 3.1.1-1 shoul do the work )
3 - Find and download L21C432oeminfo for dual sim + VNS-L21C432B504 FULL OTA MF ( three (3) files ) ( you can use Firmware Finder ).
4 - Use REBRAND following THIS GUIDE.
5 - Don't forget to thank developers who created those guides.
6- Enjoy.
Best regards
P.S.: Make all opportune backups because some of those procedures will factory reset your device. :fingers-crossed:
P.S.2: If something goes wrong do not point your finger at me, you do at your own risk...
Thanks for the answer first of all!
No in any way i am never going to point you for anything! I know the risks, my old phone i have been really hard with it by changing roms every week!!! Never broke!!
this is a new phone and i don't know it yet!
Well the most important reason i would like to update is for security reasons (newer version), i don't really have a problem with the phone as it is.... (if you exclude the sickness for changing roms and play with phone!!!) but i think Vodafone in Greece will never give an other update for that phone.
So to get it right, for any rom change (stock or custom) we have to unlock bootloader is that right?
Thanks again for your time

Hey greecian friend, yes it's right, and rebrand will help keep security updates.
You should have not problem doing the work, only pay attention when flash oeminfo file.
Feel free to ask.
See you
P.S.: You wrote you wanted to install B393... well it is for single sim model. ( if i'm not wrong you are dual sim B346;
firmware that ends with 'even' numbers = dual sim; ends with 'odd' numbers = single sim )
Well thanks again!
For start i think i have a problem for start! If i understand right from all i have read, huawei stop giving codes for unlock the bootloader, so first step problem i think! And i didn't understand if it is safe (works 100%) to get a code from HCU Software and pay!)
I saw you have aosp 8.1, everything working in this ROM?

Worst thing may happen is throw away 4 €, no one can assure you 100% will work.
I know you can use that money for better personal stuff, choise remains yours.
Till a couple of months this method worked, read THIS thread, member ba_baracuss done a rebrand
like you starting from C02 vodafone firmware to C432 EU unbranded one.
Read AOSP 8.1 thread too, atleast last 10 posts, you'll find a member that came from Greece just like you.
See you man
P.S.: Oreo rom have some little bugs, but with some twicks became usable for daily driver.

SIM Unlock (from Verizon)

I've just purchased this phone in a stranger that asks for an instant money, I've got this phone for just ~$50 (or just 2500 PHP lool)
My problem is, this phone is still sim-locked to verizon.
Tried searching for some fixes, nothing shows.
Is it possible that this phone can be unlocked by flashing an openline firmware ( if there's any stuff like that )? Or is there any method/patch/fix that can sim-unlock this phone?
Pls help
BTW, sorry for the bad english :crying:
