I recently bought an s6 edge +. And when i compared it with two different s6 edge, i found the plus to be a bit lighter. But as per gsmarena, the plus is definitely the heavier. Can anyone else confirm this?
I fear I might have got a fake device.
i noticed that also after comparing s6 edge plus with note 5, s6 edge plus screen is more brighter and shining than note 5, i like that but i really don't know if its an advantage or disadvantage
True the s6edge plus has increased in weightbut it has also increased in length its simple common sense because of the hige increase in length and the phone having almost similar hardware the phone is lighter it is nothing to even think about

Hey guys,
so the title speaks for itself - I'm in the market for a new phone (tired of OP3 - it's pretty boring) and my top contenders are LG G6 and SGS8. My concerns:
LG G6:
-SD821 with adreno 530: Is that enough to push the most graphically demanding games to QHD as well as glide through UI flawlessly?
-App scaling: AFAIK Youtube is still not supported and that is my 80% of media consumption on the phone. It's like having a track, a McLaren, and a limiter set on 60kmh.
-Value retention: There's no way I'm gonna hold on to a phone for over a year, so selling it afterwards is a big thing. G6 already dropped in price like 33%...
SGS8:
-Bixby button: For me, it's a psychological nightmare having a button that does nothing useful. How do you cope with this? Iris scanner is pretty close to this.
-Brittleness: While holding the phone in a store, it felt like a porcelain plate - you drop it once and it's all broken. Any experiences?
-Price: 100$ over the G6 at the moment. Hard to decide if the difference is worth a hundred.
-'Simple' camera: It's great, no doubt. But that wide-angle on the G6 though...
Has any of you been in such position? Which way did you go (or would go, if it were you)?
Thanks
G6

Had both and g6 is better imo and i was a samsung man for years
Honestly, G6 is better in my opinion. The processor really doesnt matter at this point since in terms of speed, most android flagships nowadays can handle pretty much everything. Even if 835 is more 'battery efficient', the g6 pretty much lasts me all day sometimes 2 full days. Biksby/fingerprint sensor/camera/touchwiz are all things i pretty much disliked on the S8
I'm a huge Samsung fan and own many of their phones and tablets. I don't like the edge screens so I was turned off to the S8. I also wanted the dual camera setup with the wide lens, not 2nd zoom lens like iPhone7 and OnePlus 5. Maybe I'll get the S9 when it comes with a 2nd wide camera and a better placed fingerprint sensor. I'm happy with the G6.
If you're in the USA, you can get the factory unlocked S8 for $425 with $200 trade in of any smart phone. Offer available on Samsung's website.
I asked myself the same question the last two weeks and today I decided for the G6:
*Only 440€ vs 799€ for the Samsung
*I don't like this edge-stuff. I prefer a flat screen
*I'm not doing any gaming. So 821 vs 835 should not make any difference in speed
*Dual Camera on the LG
*I really like to have the on/off button on the backside of the phone. It's so Handy on my G3
*The Samsung seems to be so fragile. It is much easier to drop the Samsung on the glass than the LG. And because I don't want to use those bulky cases...

LG G6! The Snapdragon 821 is still a beast in 2017, it's no slouch just as seen in the One Plus 3T or the Google Pixel, LG G6 is just fast as them, as for the demanding games or the fluidity of the UI , the LG UX 6.0 is smooth enough that it's even better than the Samsung Galaxy S8's software which is little laggy at times. LG G6 for the win.

If you are susceptible to online peer pressure or mocking, then S8 is your safer choice.

You have triggered me sir!
Lolz, jk. The exynos variants are VERY cool. And I think the S8 is a really nice looking phone.
I DO prefer the G6, but it's not like you can go wrong with either one.
Edge screens and the WTF location of the fingerprint sensor are a solid NO for the S8

I had the Note 4, which I think it was the best Sammy cellphone.... However, when Samsung decided to add the curved display, it was for me the end... Curved Display makes the S8 incredibly fragile... Even with a case, you may break or crack the display if you drop it...
Get G6...
Definitely the G6.
Flat screen. Better display (I like the IPS LCD more because of the accurate colours) and better battery life IMHO.
Bixby is useless because nothing can be topped then Google assistant.
The wide angle lens camera is the biggest plus!

I personally think the S8 is an abomination, after having the original galaxy S, galaxy nexus, note 2, lg G3, Galaxy S7. The S7 was the final straw for me. Years of trying to debloat and dealing with the jenky UI, slow downs. Add to it the curved screen which after holding both the S7 Edge and the S8 I don't want. I've seen several broken already on the S8 from being dropped. People were really mad about it, which is another conversation.
I sold my S7 for a G5 recently and couldn't be happier. Its fast, I love the rear fingerprint reader/power button. The camera is great and the wide angle is a fun change to have and has been handy at times. I'm an LG Convert at this point.
In speed tests I've watched, the S8 will load some stuff a little faster but the G6 actually keeps stuff in memory longer. The camera is great, and you don't have any goofy hardware buttons and weird fingerprint sensor locations. LG also engineered the G6 to withstand a lot of abuse. I don't think the processor is an issue and you will have a very nice flat screen phone.
I think front facing camera on G6 is far worse than S8 (especially in low-light conditions). Otherwise, things are really good. The price here in my country, S8 is almost double G6. So it would be really easy decision.
I just got my G6 yesterday. Coming from US S8.
Right off the bat. I notice that the build is much more sturdier in terms of feel in hand. Very solid build. It does not feel like you need to handle it with care like the S8.
Also, the FPS just sits super natural. Unlike the S8.
As far as performance, I have not seen any real world differences. Both perform very well. The S8 stuttered a bit at times however.
Camera - the G6 is more "fun" where as, the S8 produces better photos? Not much better. Moreso preference. The G6 is no slouch. It can hold its own.
Audio quality. The G6 sounds way better than the S8 in terms of speakerphone , and headphone jack. The music is just a dream to listen to. And I've had the pleasure of using the V20 to compare.
Features - has the ip68 and wireless charging.
To me it is the perfect choice for the price.
I only paid $380 so it was a no brainer. Sold my S8 for profit and am finding my experience with the G6 very satisfying.
However it may be tough to sell later. You will probably lose money if anything.

Go for s8.today i broke my front display,it was drop out from my pocket only 5-6inch distance.???
Go for S8 if you can tolerate the edge and the touchwiz. That's a better piece of hardware, other than the wide angle camera.
One thing I don't like about the s8 is that it's on everyone's hand. Having a g6 makes me stand out a bit. It also looks better imo.
I think the g6 is under-appreciated. The gs8 may be sexier, and you do get the 64 vs 32 GB difference (us models), but for me it came down to price. At&t had the lg6 for half price which beat even the $300 trade-in on the unlocked gs8 - especially since only black was available for that (I really liked the silver g6 once I saw it, but the store ironically only had black, so it was black vs black).
In real life use I am very happy with the g6 but I would have been happy with the gs8 too. But in some ways you can suffer by not having the more popular device!

They are both great phones. However, I cant justify the price of Samsung.
I feel like samsung has too many gimmicks. LG really gets to the point and has a pricepoint that a 2017 flagship should be priced at.
Hi guys I've had my s8 plus for around a month now and I've had the note series everyone (well note 1,2,3,4 we didn't get the rest over in the UK ) just a couple of questions on wether I should try sell my s8 plus or wait till next year
As I've read on most reviews most people are saying the note 8 is a s8 plus plus basically the same phone with a styles is that true?
I know it's slightly bigger display but is it any better then the s8 plus
Also the camera am I right in saying it has the same main camera as the s8 plus just the second lens allowes optical zoom and the whole portrait thing that's it?
So it should basically have similar picture quality to the s8 plus
Also silly question I cannot get my head around is the s8 plus technically 3k or is it still a 2k display
Thanks
note 8 is almost same as s8 plus
A little bit change in border radius + dual OIS Cameras
But it's not logical to pay extra 300$ just for camera
So in my case, I'll wait at least for s9
Please don’t delete this topic it’s fair warning!
I hate to be right sometimes but as I told long ago after years of testing it turns out that the best camera of Samsung was in S6 / S6Edge+. Test it yourself. Hold S6 in one hand and for example S8 in the other and take a photo in good light. Then zoom it on the phone and you will see that S6 has better details, no artificial brightener while for example S8 has it.
S6 has 16 Mpix and all flagships that came after had 12 Mpix rear camera.
I’ve tested S6 Edge Plus vs. S7 / S8 / S8+, Note8, S9, S9+ and…
only S9+ finally beat S6. (look how Samsung did bad for us from Sep2015 till March2018)
I wish I had NOT sale my S6 and bought a newer one
If You don't believe me? Ask XDA members who has S6 and a later Galaxy S model (but not S9+)
This is a Warning for You don't sell your S6!!!! or sell only if you can afford to buy S9+.
I did the wrong thing so I Warn you no to make the same mistake that I did
I have nothing against S7 BTW!!! except cam quality (in good lifght)
