I have not had a Samsung since my Captivate, but i did like the options for making apps dark or dark themed - the idea was that "black" or dark colors would save battery with AMOLED screens.
Did Samsung get rid of these opitons? I can't seem to find them anywhere - phone settings or in apps. I really liked the darker email themes.
Any suggestions?

Look for blacked out apps in the android themes section. Most of my G-apps are now black.

Gem flat and simplex were my two favorite themes for theme chooser when I was using CM roms. There are threads for both here in xda, take a look and see if you like. You can use them even on stock with hk theme manager xposed module, I think.

I was also looking for similar themes and have found the following:
*Mianogen.
*iOS 7.
*Circle.
*Flat (by rayford85).
*MIUI v5 (There are three: 1- orange on white. 2- orange on black. 3- holo blue on black).
Edit:*Flow (is also a great theme).
And I agree with meatboy, Gem Flat and Simplex (both red and blue) are one of the best themes out there.

And it didn't work properly, still had white background around the edge of the dark background, i'm assuming that it's because of our dpi and the nexus 5 dpi.
Getting a dark material google now launcher, would be amazing - means literally all the ui is dark then.

Hi all, I cant believe there is no stock new ux look theme on nougat for s6 s7 note 5 but in dark/ black?
Same as defaut but black or dark
I tried to find on xda and theme store, no success.

Ok, friend, but those are s8 themes. Not s7 stock. I look for s7 style, not like s8 too much
I want theme like s6 grace ux dark and black were.
They are not working here on nougat.

Get minu's black edition or any free black theme of minu and apply it togetther with stock icons.

Im using this now. Icons not changed. Clock font not changed for s7.
I not like sms bubbles on s8 much. Minu is free I see. I also prefer fark gray not black but no solution seems

Just wondering, if you had to put a simple, but complete (full UI) dark theme on your Note 9... which one would it be (that you can find on the default samsung theme app).
I always use material dark or material black on my Samsung phones.

You can use substratum with andromeda
If you want a COMPLETE dark theme, you'll want to get Swift Black.
I like Britzer. It's a very dark cool gray with Pixel blue accents and is very lightweight. For icons I use Pixelize.

I had been using these on my s9+ but it started to get real wonky in the last few months, to the point where it wasn't worth it and I removed it completely.
Do you guys just turn off auto updates on those apps and then deal with the annoyance of having to confirm that those aren't auto updates every time your other apps update? It seemed like a lot of times, my "don't auto update" apps would somehow end up auto updating again at some point, and it would frequently break the main google app, google search bar, youtube, etc.
Still a lot better than the days you'd have to hook it back up to a PC to run andromeda, but a hassle none the less and having the main google app constantly break on me was a bad enough experience that I just went back to a dark samsung theme. Curious to see others' experience with it

I turned off auto updates in google play settings and will update apps together with "Swift for Samsung" theme so that the apps won't crash. The update cycle of the theme is frequent enough (atleast once a week). My expereince with the swift themes is really good as it themes many 3rd party apps unlike a samsung theme.

No you don't.
There is an adb command to change the navigation bar color. I'd do a search for it.
