Hey everyone. I'm new to LG devices. Had Samsung notes for years. Just picked up a carrier unlocked ATT V35 ThinQ, and been trying to use the LGUP tool to dump all partitions before I try my hand at flashing a newer firmware.
But it seems to take forever. Like more than 10 hours on some partitions. I haven't been able to complete a dump yet.
Are my expectations too high? Am I using the wrong tool? How long should a dump of a stock install take?
I'm using LGUP 1.14, and following some online tutorials I found. Seems to be doing what it's supposed to, just super duper slow.
Any assistance is welcome. Thanks.
Forget about full dump - it is LAF restricted. For full dump you will need to unlock your bootloader, enable fastboot and flash engineering LAF afterwards.
Damn, really. No wonder.
Doesn't seemlike anyone's getting bootloaders unlocked, unless they send their v35 to China, from what I've read so far. I guess I'll keep checking the forums.
Thank you for your help though.
Well sending to China is still an option, but you can contact this guy and unlock your bootloader for about 5 minutes remotely.

So pretty much what I am wanting to do is flash a custom ROM or KDZ so I can run the T-Mobile software on my V20, with the unlocked one I am missing out on Wifi Calling as well as Advanced Calling and wanted to take advantage of it. Is there anyway to be able to do this?
Sometimes you got to be the guinea pig.

Did you figure out if this was possible?

Here is one thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/lg-f800l-doesnt-h918-kdz-installation-t3548272
RE: US996 to T-Mobile Version
The short answer to this question is No you CAN NOT flash the T-Mobiile KDZ or ROM to your US996 phone. Although it is possible to do this with US996 to/from H910 to/from VS995(these are just those that I have actually performed the flash successfully on), even with these you stand a good chance of breaking something, and my successful attempts were done using STOCK KDZs i.e H910 to US996 and VS995 to US996 and return(the return for the former was via H915 KDZ). The reason you cant do this with the T-Mobile KDZ in EITHER DIRECTION is BECAUSE THE SIGNING KEY on the chipset used for the T-Mobile H918 and therefore on its KDZ, is unique in the LG V20 family. LG used the same keys on most/all the other variants that I am aware of EXCEPT for the H918.
So even though you can NOT flash the H918 KDZ to any of the Non H918 LG V20s, there is a possible work around for what you are wanting to accomplish. This work around, would be to extract the System image from the H918 KDZ that matches the Android version you are running on your US996, and overwrite the System partition with this System Image file. By doing this you would be adding all the configuration files, along with any T-Mobile apps and Framework files that would be needed on your US996. I have not done this before, but I do not believe there is any reason this would not work. Your other option is to reconfigure your config files found in /system/etc/ such as the featureset.xml, among dozens of other files that would need to specify that you are running a TMO profile, and then manually move over any Framework, and APK files that would be needed. The latter option would assume you are running as root, where the former could be performed either through fastboot or using LGFlash or LGUP.

dude, don't dig up old threads from 2 years ago. This is universally frowned upon in any forum.
i have modified LGUP to flash individual partitions, but being as i do not own the G6 i cannot test it out for myself. if someone would like to test out possibly being the world's first G6 user with TWRP on it please respond to this!
EDIT: I have gotten a tester and my modded LGUP will dump the partitions of the device, but will not write yet...

Ok now where is the file? i'm new with g6 always do nexus give the instruction and i will test for you i'm ready to test and root my great first Android phone without root and i'm love how its work with out i can't imagine with root!!!!
If you upload the files with some instructions I can test it. How likely is it to brick the phone? Assuming it's only trying to flash a recovery it shouldn't be too hard to fix if anything goes wrong, but I just want to be safe.
This is my first LG device so some instructions on all the LGUP stuff would be appreciated.
Ok . I have unlocked my bootloader. What do you me to test?
Hi, i hope this is the right forum, i am a noobie at LG flashing, been reading some, but it is a little confusing (coming from Oneplus One), so i bought an LG V20 - US996, and i thought i could unlock the bootloader via LG Developers website, so i started the process, install drivers, follow the instructions, etc. then when i submitted IMEI and device id i got an error, message, stating :your device (TEST_GPIN) does not support unlocking bootloader", i emailed LG with the question but still no answer, so i did a little research and found out that my phone is a demo unit or something like it. on the inside sticker it says "not for sale" the model on the sticker is US996. i have attached some screens that show software versions etc.
so basically i would like to know if anyone knows if i am out of luck and cant unlock the bootloader to flash twrp and root, or if it can be done, and point me in the right direction, any help will be greatly appreciated.
i obviously would not want to brick my device, but am willing to try to unlock if possible.
thanks.
That's very interesting. Wondering if that's the model the debug bootloader was pulled from to root the US carrier v20's. I'm not an expert in this but have you tried to flash the us99610f (Dec 1 2016 sec patch) kdz using LG UP. That should put you on official LG firmware that is still rootable. The kdz will flash every piece of firmware getting you off of that demo firmware. From there you could try to unlock the bootloader again using LGs website, or worst case use dirtysanta to root the phone if you wish. There's a hacked lgup thread somewhere in the guide section that should do the trick.
thanks toastyp, i will download 10f, and look for the hacked lgup.

downloaded 10f, and flashed with LGUP, no i have a fully working US996 (not demo version) at US99610f, i will keep reading so i can do the bootloader unlock and root.
thanks again for your help

Glad everything worked for you. I would try to root using LGs official unlock.bin method as it will be the easiest way to root the phone. Plus you get to keep your stock bootloader which is potentially helpful in the event LG implements ARB on the us996. If it still doesn't work you can try the dirty elf thread. I believe it's the dirtysanta method for the us996. This process will flash a debug bootloader with full fastboot commands that is unlocked. From there you can flash twrp normally.

thanks toastyp, LG official unlock still not working, as i guess the IMEI is still recognized as from a demo unit, i will try dirty elf method, might take a while since my home pc just died (mobo or cpu) anyway , as soon as i can i will try it.
thanks.
Is this available to download anywhere?

Be nice if someone made a dump off all partitions of the latest tmo build in twrp format

I'm using it. How do I do that?

Well you could always do dd in twrp or adb (with root) to dump partitions in Img format, easeist thing would be to get one of those scripts that are included in fastboot flashable zips, since it has all the necessary partitions listed already and edit it to just dump the partitions instead of writing them.. zip it up, post it to a hosting site and provide link, I'm not at home right now, but when I have a chance I could provide a script super easy, it would have to be done in adb, but, I'm not sure if it could be scripted to work with adb though... Might need to be copy and pasted for each partition or a twrp compatible zip made...
well, i kinda whipped up 2 scripts, the first: android_backup.bat, can be run in a console window on windows while in twrp.
the second: android_backup_root.bat, can be run in a windows console if you have root on your 6t and you're booted into android (approve root request btw) both are included in the attached zip.
View attachment op6t_backup.zip
These dump system,vendor,op1,op2,modem and boot from both a/b partitions ( have to look in them to see which is newer, or if you know, just provide the newest)
it should save them as img files on the sdcard.
if you can provide those files, i could make a twrp or fastboot flashable zip
Friends, I need your help.
1. I'm looking for some NVRAM files via QPST EFS Explorer /efsprofiles/overideconfig & overideconfig_Subscription01 (if you have) file
only T-Mobile A6013 version
2. And copies of all files in the folder /data/user_de/0/com.android.phone/files/
via ES Explorer + ROOT
only T-Mobile A6013 version
Thanks,
Waiting for your help friends
Tell you what, if anyone could provide a dump, I would provide those files, I don't understand why there isn't one dump of the current TMobile 6t rom here... C'mon people...

Im willing to bet that because the T-Mobile has a locked bootloader you are going to have a hard time finding enough people with the variant that want to do this.
I still have 2 to 3 weeks left on my Unlock Token. Once I do I will be developing specifically for T-Mo.
Maybe the last person that updated the T-Mo fastboot files can do it again?

It takes 7 days exactly to get your unlock.bin, just an fyi. I have already done this back in November when it launched and once we figured out that modemst1 And 2 erase hack to disable the simlock, u can use the revert to tmo software msm tool and the simlock stays off and u can get the unlock code and submit the application for the bin the legit way. I'll have my second code in a day or so and will do a full dump. I'm porting the rcs stuff to intl firmware. Also, all the op6 roms, and international op6t roms work fine with our TMobile specific device.. let me know if u have any questions, as me and a few others have most of this figured out and the msm tool even more decrypted now.

Sorry, I said that wrong...
I have 2 to 3 weeks left on my SIM Unlock. Which then allows bootloader unlock.
Im going to try what you just said tomorrow. If I can get the processes started that much sooner then life will be good.

Yeah man u don't need them, use intl msm, unlock it, erase modemst1 and modemst2, rerun tmo msm tool, enable oem unlock, fastboot oem get_unlock_code, fill out form, and wait a week.
If yes, the phone must be rootable. Is Lineage OS 16 support this phone?
I have done some researches on this forum but couldn't find an exact answer.
Thanks.
From what I've read and heard, no. It seems like the carrier-branded phones and Amazon phones are far less likely to be able to unlock the bootloader in order to root or flash different firmwares, but on different models some people have had luck performing "Frankenstein" flashes by temporarily flashing a different firmware using a hacked version of LGUP, performing the bootloader unlock, and then flashing back to the original. You don't want to flash a KDZ to go back to the original firmware from what I've gathered though as it could relock the bootloader -you'd need to find a flashable ZIP file or something that has all of the firmware and use TWRP to flash back to the normal firmware. You might have to use LGUP to flash some modem firmware and such back, but those guys will be able to better explain the situation than I would. I considered doing this with My LG V30+ H932 using lafexploit but decided that it was too much work for not enough reward and just stuck with stock firmware. Honestly as long as PDANet/FoxFi still works in non-root mode there's not much of an incentive for me to unlock the BL since I might lose the ability to pay with Android Pay or some other NFC payment apps.
