So, for the past weeks I've been having this weird issue with the keyboard. I cannot reply to instastories. And the keyboard covers the box at the bottom whenever I try to message someone, and I cannot see what I am typing, although I can type. I just have to "go back" so it hides the keyboard and then I can send the message or see what I have typed.
I tried clearing cache, wiping Instagram cache / data, uninstall, reinstall.
Tried with another keyboard. Same issue. Tried clearing keyboard cache / data, issue still present.
The issue is there also in games. It won't move the game's box in order to see what I'm typing.

As of 20 minutes ago my virtual keyboard decides to stop working. The keyboard will load up but anytime I'm in the input field to text someone, write a email, or a web address the words that I hit popup but nothing shows up in the field. I figured I'd type google.com in the browser and hit enter to see if anything will come up but nope, nada.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be with my keyboard not working? Hard resetting is my last resort before I go into the store and have it swapped out for a brand new one.
I'd say a factory reset should fix the issue if a normal power cycle doesn't fix it however I'd be inclined to uninstall a few apps (especially anything text or sms related) before heading down that path

Did this once on my phone too and I found out that for some reason the default language selection for the keyboard had gone unselected. Try from localization settings to enable your language and see if that helps.
For some reason I downloaded the new version refresh and I still have lag from time time. I don't have much on my.phone at all. Especially in landscape on the web or handcent. Any Idea why?
Details man, details.
wipe, then re flash.
handcent is your culprit!
handcent works fine on mine with fresh 1.1 no lag
Im not sure what you want details on? haha I said Its when im on the web typing a reply on a web forum, or sometimes sending texts using handcent. And its more-so when its in landscape mode. Do I have to clear my dalvik cache or something?
sounds like your having keyboard lag....maybe try recalibrating your keyboard ...also ive noticed that with the heptic feedback on it does slow down the keyboard alot
whtas heptic feedback? I did re cal like 2 weeks ago.
Haptic feedback is the vibration your phone makes while you are typing.
i have had some lag issues as well in the form of the lock screen taking a couple of seconds to change, swipe to the left or right screens would take a few seconds, apps being slow to load.
a reboot can help, but i found the most useful thing to do is to clear the caches of some of the programs i had recently used, like the browser, market, facebook.
go to settings > applications > manage applications
select any app to see if you can clear the cache and/or data, and see if that helps your issue.
is there a free app that will clear the caches of the commonly used apps for me?
I have that heptic turned off.
If i go one by one on the programs that will take forever. Even though all I usually use is the net and handcent.
Try disabling all location services.
You are probably running into this bug... http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3453
all location is off too.
Every time I press the mic button on the keyboard and try voice typing, the typing works but then the whole system UI stops responding to touch. I can't do anything inside any app or even in the main screen, only the physical buttons and touch within the lock screen works. Afterwards I have to access the shutdown menu from the lock screen (or use the button combination) in order to restart the device and restore touch response.
Is there a known issue with the Google Voice Typing in the device, or is it caused by some Xposed module or something?
The device is I-9300i running stock Androod Kitkat 4.4.4 Rom.

Hi!
I had similar problems with other stock apps of android KitKat, sometimes I solved the problem deleting the app cache, in your case you can try to delete the cache of the app called Google text-to-speech. If it doesn't work try also to delete the cache of the keyboard that you're using (stock Samsung keyboard or any custom keyboard downloaded from the store).
Let me know if works!

Sorry for abandoning the post. The issue resolved itself without any interference, so I can't tell whether clearing the cache helps or not. Thanks for responding anyway.
Good day.
Anybody have an issue with keyboard not showing in any app, but sure its there because if you tap on the blank screen letters will be typed it is just invisible.
Any work around guys

Tried that but it came back.
any luck? Which app you are using? Have you tried any other app?
I've got the exact same problem. When I'm typing in any app sometimes the keyboard (GBoard) goes black, I can still type but can't see anything from the keyboard. It doesn't happen too often, maybe one a day but it's anoying.
To solve it you have to go to keyboard setting and when you tap virtual keyboard -> GBoard a message saying that the app has stopped working appears and asks you to open it again. Once you do it works normal again but eventually it will happen again.
Someone has this same issue or has managed to solve?
Thanks.
I use swiftkey, and it works fine..
I want to use GBoard but I've got no idea why this happens.
Every time I'm typing something there's a notification that says "updating your typing experience". It's been happening for couple of days. It's very annoying. Can anyone help me get rid of it?

Probably google screwed something server-side again. Just wait a few days, but for now you can try clearing gboard data and/or cache, reinstalling it (if this is an option) or switching to another keyboard (swiftkey, perhaps?)
Or disable gboard notifications
