The ambient brightness on auto works in most case okey, but espcially in very dark environments I mean the brightness is too low.
Is there a way to force the ambient light sensor that brightness should never go under a specific level, e.g minium 55%?
Have tried some apps, but they can't fix it.

Anybody using Lux to control screen brightness? I mainly got it so I can get a dimmer screen setting for reading at night. I found that the default lux setting is too bright by default, typically being around 60% screen brightness during the day. So I'm curious what other people are setting the custom settings to.
Lux is cool because even though its auto adjust, if you find it to bright you can pull up the dashboard from the notifications drawer or the widget. Then slide the slider to where you think it should be according to the light level you are at. Then hold down the little icon that looks like a chain. This will "link" the brightness level with the current lighting level. You actually make lux better for you by personalizing it. Link as many settings as you want to various lighting levels.

Yeah. So far I like it. Just curious what % people are using for normal use. It also looks like stock min brightness on android is 15%. The low settings on lux go from 15% to 0% with nothing in between.

You guys should try screendim if you have root. You can adjust any brightness levels, it even has a second adjustment for contrast so you have a lot more control. Its not free but well worth the few dollars imo.

I just installed a custom kernel and it looks like it includes a 5% brightness setting. Should be good.
Anyone know to change browser brightness ??? I already set maximum brightness on setting but the White background is so dim... I got headache and dizzy after a few minutes of using which i don know why ( never got this when using my iphone 4s with maximum brightness )
You can't change the browser (Chrome) brightness independently of the system brightness. Not sure about 3rd party browsers as I don't use them. If you turn off auto brightness in settings and set it to full, that is the brightest it will get.
I've just set my brightness to high and the white is VERY bright, maybe you have a faulty display?

No my screen is not Yellow, the colours aren't as vibrant as my Galaxy S3, but I'm getting used to it, I use CM10.1 and CM kernel.

If you use a custom kernel you can customize the colors to your liking. Use Trickster Mod to change colors as an free alternative.
Hi there, I wonder if there any app, mod, tweak that can keep the maximum brightness at all time. Or there are app to disable light sensor? Thanks.

You can use Lux or Velis and setup your brightness to be 100% no matter what lux your light sensor reads.

Thanks. That's helpful.
Is there a hack or a utility that allows the user to set the maxiumum brightness of the AOD? I realise that it dims when the ambient lighting is dim but I find it too bright at other times.
AOD seems to have only 2 brightness levels, dim and bright. I'd like to be able to turn down the brightness.
Maybe you can find a custom rom with and brightness control ability?
Twiztd rom comea with such control ability(Twiztd controls) . I just found your thread. Hope that helps.

exactly I have the same problem with AOD and I hope Samsung add a feature to control it.
Is there any way to decrease the brightness level without root? I have been using apps but they don't dim the notification bar and volume controls.
Try YAAB aka Yet Another Auto Brightness from play store, you can set minimum or maximum brightness manually.

Tried it still no use the brightness level is not affecting the notification/pull down area and volume also.
It a limitation with latest android versions... I am afraid there is no fix to it... All screen dimming and filter apps seem to have the same problem..
