My phone does the same.
Mine is rooted, and does this with 10q, 10r 10u, or 10v ROMs.
However, my wife's bone-stock, unrooted V20 running 10p will do VoLTE - which keeps the data going.

Note 4 exynos sm-n910k Problem please help

So I am from Canada and picked up the exynos version from a Korean seller on ebay.
Model number sm-n910K I actually have a huge problem. When wifi is turned on phone will reboot whilst in sleep mode after about 5 minutes if I turn off wifi it works fine. Note this happens even if I am not connected to a network the radio just has to be enabled. I am out of options I might rma it to the Korean seller but I think I might have to open a case with ebay, as these guys are being very difficult here is a video attached. I filmed it for 5 minutes but only recorded the last minute. http://youtu.be/ahLB0A2pCOM any help would be super appreciated thanks guys. I am at a loss whether this is software ie corrupt modem from improper driver installation at factory or just a faulty modem things I have tried already.
1. factory reset + cash wipe
2. Reinstall firmware using kies
3. turned off automatic scanning
4. turned off download booster.
The only thing that works is keeping wifi off. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Have you tried flashing with Odin?
Hey, I also have the SM N910K. What network are you using it on?
I have that version as well without that issue. Can you grab a picture of your About device specs?
Hello there i got same version SM-N910K i didn't have that issue with wifi , but i got battery drain , i live in uk and the phone keep searching for LTE- A ,
N910C with the Samsung SoC
I have the same Issue, i live in the US, I was in Malaysia and manage to get a N910C with the Samsung CPU, when I set the network to LTE/WCDM/GSM (autoconnect) it keeps serching for 4g networks, and it does not switch to lower networks even if available, which causes a huge battery drain, i had to set it down WCDM/GSM for it to get data. I did not have this issue with my note 3 which i also got in Malaysia last year, btw, the note 3 came with qualcomm cpu, and that leads me to believe there is a problem with the modem on the samsung SoC.

Hi! i found a solution where you can force your phone to go to GSM Only, WCDMA only or your preferred network type. In your dialer app type: 319712358. It will ask for a password and the password is 774632. And voila you can now choose what type of network you want to use. This will help with the battery drain.

Lost Signal after Lollipop update

Hi guys
My phone was rooted but never flashed a ROM on it. Today I updated my phone to Lollipop through Kies Mac. After that my signal is not there. When I reboot the phone I get signal for few seconds then it gets lost again. Also phone never saves my Wi-fi connections.
I did reset my phone but still the same.
It was locked to Vodafone and I unlocked it in Vodafone shop when I first bought it do you think anything related to that?
How can I downgrade to KitKat or get my signal working?
Same here. Do any of you guys know how to solve this issue?

Please use the search function of this site and google, don't be lazy. There is a thread about downgrading . Also try flashing lollipop modem/bootloader, for this visit any of the TouchWiz Lollipop rom threads (like the one in my signature) most of them talk about flashing modems and bls.

Help with MotoX Pure on Verizon. Only has cellular data, no voice/sms.

I purchased a used Moto X Pure Edition on Swappa. The phone was rooted, but the seller flashed it back to stock (as far as he told me). I was hoping that I could eventually get the OTA for nougat when it came out, so he assured me that the phone was in "stock" condition.
When I received it, I went to a verizon corp store and got a new sim and they activated the phone on my account. I see 4G LTE and data works great, but when attempting voice calls it says "no cellular network available". SMS messages don't send. I called verizon tech support and we changed some settings around, but it never worked. Guys at the corp store had no clue. The sim works fine in my old verizon galaxy SIII.
Someone on a reddit thread suggested that I check the firmware. It currently reports as: 24.12.18.clark_retus.retus.en.US.retus Does anyone know if this is correct? Is there anything I can do to get this working, or once it's rooted is it really impossible to get it back to stock, or has the seller somehow screwed it up during flashing?
Thanks!
UPDATE: It seems to be fixed after re-flashing the factory image from motorola. I used MPH24.49-18_18 from this page: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images#
I'm on VZN - was rooted running CM13 then Slim Rom then went back to stock (PITA) So it can be done ( my firmware : 24.221.4clark_retus.retus.en.US retus) but why would you want to go stock? I only did thinking we were getting Android N soon but that doesn't seem to be happening. Root the phone and throw a custom Rom on it. You will be happier. Have you checked the network type? and the APN?

I've switched the network type (global and then LTE/CDMA). The APN that is default selected is Verizon Internet. But, I've tried all the other APNs as well.
I'm worried at this point that I'll never get it to work with voice, whether it is rooted and rom'd or not.
Try Flashing to CM 13 or Slim6 both worked for me.. Please dont hate me for asking.. you sure you have the sim in the right way? I know this try is tricky

Not hating. I'll take any help I can get. Yes, I'm certain I put the sim in correctly. Cellular data works, and the phone shows as being on the Verizon network, just not voice enabled.
I'd rather not root and flash at this point, as I'm likely going to return it as non-working. Unless someone has any other ideas?
Well, I guess I fixed it. I reflashed the factory image from this page: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images# and the sim is reporting voice and data, and calls and sms are working. I'm not sure what image the guy that sold it to me flashed, but it was obviously wrong or he didn't do it right. Thanks for the help!

Lost Data After Nougat Update. T-Mobile on Sprint Device

Hi All,
I have recently updated my Sprint device, which had the mobile data working flawlessly before updating. Now I want to fix it and I want to flash my device to a T-Mobile firmware but I kinda lost between forums. Where should I start? Can someone outline the steps for me?
Thanks!

Start by flashing the latest T firmware to it , if that doesn't correct your data and its showing invalid sim then your device may have been re-locked which I'm seeing a lot of lately

Can't get service on any ROM - I think my modem is messed up?

Hey folks, thanks again for for all the work keeping this phone supported.
I just got my V20 and I'm trying to get it working with my UK SIM (O2, 4G) but since I did the Dirtysanta root I've not been able to get mobile service on any ROM, even return to stock or flashing the 915 KDZ. I stupidly didn't make a backup with LGUP!
Any ideas how I can restore service to the phone? I'm currently on unrooted H915 KDZ. Does anyone know of modem files etc I could use to try and get SIM service working again? I've seen a guy posting a 'universal modem' here but he didn't seem like a particularly knowledgeable user, and I've also seen a zip of the 'h910 oreo modem' but I'm reluctant to flash anything unless I'm sure.
Or could it be a physical fault with the phone (ie the SIM slot)? Is there a way of ruling that out?
Cheers for the help! My new phone has turned into a total nightmare and I could really use the support
PS: I opened up the phone to aply thermal paste, and the mainboard seems to be an F800L Is it possible the refurb seller was using F800L modem firmware with the stock Nougat AT&T ROM?

Not sure...but a do quick look in your mobile networks and make sure set to automatic. Seems dumb, but if not that can cause service issues.

I've had a good play with network settings but sadly I think the problem goes deeper than that...
