sx56 upgrade query

I just upgraded my o2 XDA 1 to sx56 upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003.I am aware of that sound problem, which is pretty sucky. But is there anyway i can change the sms ringtone other than the default ones??can i set .wav or .wma as my sms ringtones.Any help will be appreciated.
Copy a wav containing the sound into the windows folder of your device.
The file should automatically show up in the "Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications tab - 2.Select how to be notified"-dropdown.
I am not sure wether you can use only wav-files, I think the extension needs to be wav, but you might be able to trick it into playing a wma file by changing the extension to wav.
Copying Wav File into your Ringtones Folder.
You can also record music files using your Voice Recorder Application and or Voice Prompts or Messages. This is cool because now your PDA is different from all the others that have the same standard ringtones and prompts. The Quality using the Recorder is also pretty good. That is the easiest way to do it. Oh and ofcourse you must then move the wav files to the correct Folder for your ringtones to see them.
Hope that helps.....

Mp3 Ringtones... anyone?

anyone here knows how i can incorporate an mp3 as a ringtone via software or utilities without having converting them into wav files?
;p
well you could try and convert it to wma then you could use it
or play the song you want via the media player; then hop over to your notes app and record the tune you want. the recording is already in wav and you can use it directly as a ringtone. doubt if you want to record the entire song as a wav since you'll be answering the phone after a few seconds worth of tunez....quality is a-ok in my opinion...
cheers
needs to be in wma format
Dude
the xda 2 can only use wav & wma files for ringtones.
i use a free prog called dbpoweramp which can convert pretty much any known audio file. u can get it from here:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
u will also need to grab the correct codec (WMA) from their codec central section, and ur sorted.
Hope this helps

I've no problem using midi for ringtones. Only the alarm/reminder/etc are still using wav.

Problem with setting MP3 as ringtone

I have searhed a lot into this forum, but I encounter with a strange problem. I copy my fav song into \Windows\Rings directory and select it in phone setting as ringtone. but when my phone start to ring, Windows Defualt.wav will be played.
I read most topics about similar problems. Would anyone help me please to solve this problem???
Hello,
By default only wma files are played as ringtones. You can get the hack to make mp3 also to be recognized. And by the way, inside your rings folder on tap and hold to an mp3 file has a menu option at the bottom saying "Set as ring tone"? Try that too. Also try with different or smaller files.
Regards
Carty..
I have done the registery hack before. Now I can use small size MP3 file as ringtones. The problem is for all WMA, WAV and MP3 files with large size (more than 300K).
Anyway I figured it out with PocketX PhotoContacts Pro DEMO veriosn.

Changing alarm clock sounds

Is it possible to use sounds/music you have installed instead of the standard sounds that come pre installed on the phone. Any ideas would be great.
hmmmmmmmmmm,
Copy ur music file to "windows" or "My documents" folder, it will search and automatically add to list, then u can set it.
I would advice u to use any software like cradle alarm/Vistalarm/G-Alarm.
Make sure it is a wav audio file (mp3's won't work)...
HTC ELF Alarm Sound Link
I will add that you will need an mp3 to wav converter, if all of your files are in mp3 format. I use media coder.

Hope this helps,

.wav Invalid File Type?

Hi guys, tried a couple of ROMs now and what's confusing me is that they don't seem to like .wav audio files.
I've got a couple I'd like to set as ringtones and the Windows Media Player says "Invalid File Type" - so I can't use them.
Find this odd since .wav and Windows usually go hand in hand together...
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
wav is not a codec but a container which hold other codecs
some which require compatibility to work
try other wavs to verify thats not the issue
and if it is use a converter to convert your incompatible wav to a compatible one
using a computer
If you're just trying to load ringtones, you can also use MP3 format. Try to keep them under 500kB, and under 30 seconds in length, though.
