OP5 no IMEI, no network, no wifi - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

So a friend`s oneplus 5 has somehow lost signals, both imei are flushed and wifi would not even turn on. Tried flashing the stock rom tgrough adb sideload, tried fixing efs using instructions here: (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/restoring-efs.486667/). Still no luck. Any ideas?

Well no. The phone was not rooted, and bootloader was locked when the problem first occurred. Bootloader was unlocked while trying to fix the problem. Is there anything that can be done? or do we only have a paperweight now?

so basically i had that issue, but today while trying different things, i restarted the phone and out of nowhere the imei, wifi, baseband came back. I instantly made the backup of the efs partition and when i was done making that backup through twrp the phone rebooted and again no imei, wifi, baseband etc. I again booted into twrp and restored the backup but to my disappointment it isnt working. its an absurd behavior i know but i am just helpless here.

Hi Guys!!
This is emergency!! I was trying to install recovery . I was successful in flashing recovery through the Nexus 4 Toolkit. After a while non of the networks are connecting. Wifi dosen't even startup, no mobile network! Please HELP!!
Thanks
In settings, does it display an imei number or is it 0's/garbage?
Maybe you need to input your apn settings for your carrier again? I know one of the tool kits I used had an option to backup apn settings probably for this exact reason. Try rebooting your phone also.

What you did and don't realize is that you had to unlock the bootloader to root and install a custom recovery and by doing that you wiped your phones data, all of it. Unlocking the bootloader puts the phone back into the state when you first received it and it has to be setup all over again.
Flashing the stock image will also take you back to a state where the phone was when you first received it and you will have to set it up again.
I'm not absolutely sure you need to do that or just set the phone up again like you did when you first got it. If you can't get it working again then reflash the stock image and restart from there. To do it with the toolkit you have to download it manually then place it into the folder in the toolkit directory for flashing files. The toolkit should have instructions on how to do this.
Unfortunately at this point anything you had stored on the phone is gone for good.

[Q] U8800-51 crashing apps; can't factory reset

A few months back I rooted my girlfriend's Impulse 4G and installed a custom ROM. I don't know the exact ROM but at the very least the boot screen says "Kalo 'Perfection'". EDIT: I believe it was this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553705
Anyway, a few days ago apps started to crash randomly on her phone. When I reboot the phone, apps begin to crash after a minute or two of use and continue to crash more frequently until it's unusable.
I've tried: factory resetting it, uninstalling apps with adb, installing titanium backup pro with adb and uninstalling apps, clearing cache from recovery, factory resetting from recovery, restoring a backup with roadkil's, flashing a new rom, flashing a new recovery, updating to stock with the dload folder on my sdcard, and ...
no matter what I do, when I reboot the phone it always returns to the same state, unchanged.
And, long-time lurker here who registered to beg for help, of course. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Are you able to provide logcat?
I turned on the phone and let it boot for a minute, then ran logcat. Never used it before, so let me know if you need something more specific.
h t t p : / / pastebin.com/eMTJmvLZ
EDIT:
And, if it helps, when I try a factory reset from recovery I get "E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2". I'm using CWMR Touch v6.0.1.0.

There is no such block as /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 in the phone. But I guess your phone is different to the normal one.
The only thing I can think is that you have probably flashed the wrong android for your phone. What Custom ROM did you flash? Can you give me a link to both the recovery and the ROM (link for where you downloaded them from).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553705 I believe this was the ROM. I can't find the recovery at the moment but it's CWMR touch v6.0.1.0. Based on the instructions given with the ROM I'm using the wrong recovery
I am not familiar with your phone, but this might help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889305
Meanwhile, I will try to get someone who is familiar.
Unfortunately I've tried everything I can from that thread, I think. Whenever I replace the recovery.img it doesn't stick when I reboot. Same for the roadkil's image. I tried to recover the image I made before I rooted the phone but it never sticks.
I think your partitions for data and cache is incorrect or missing.

Download TiBu that is the closest you can get...
If you download a custom rom that keeps it up to date, they will probably include the update and you can just flash over it. but stock rom there isnt much u can do.

Trying to undo the last steps by flashing back the modified boot.img and TWRP.
Booting into TWRP and it asks for a password to decrypt storage!!!
Is wiping the only option??

I followed the guide (part 10. How To Take An OTA Update If You Have Root).
Then after rebooting (before installing the OTA that is) I got a message saying encryption unsuccessful and I needed to wipe my phone. I turned it off instead and tried to restore it as it was before. Screw the OTA, I just need my phone back. I flashed back boot and recovery, is system.img or vendor.img the culprit?
Any ideas? Do I need to wipe data?

I really don't know what went wrong here, other people have done this with no issues. In TWRP it should be able to decrypt as long as you enter the password/pin.

I had a screen lock pattern, I entered the numbers that correspond to it (from what I read somewhere else, like a num keypad), no joy.
But then again, shouldn't actual booting into the system work as well? Why give this error msg?
I'm going to format then...
unless your super comfortable with ADB and fastboot, flashing things through them is never a good idea, you will screw up allot of the time. its always easier for the average user to wait for a ota zip and flash that. Or never root and accept otas.
Im not saying never use adb, just dont use it when its super important to keep your data

The only problem with that is even when an OTA zip is available you'd need to use fastboot to flash system etc to remove root anyway.
So I formatted, then set it up, then tried restoring my latest nandroid backup and now it doesn't recognise the pattern lock!

Thanks for that, although at first after reading the first few posts I thought there was no solution, luckily I kept reading until here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63797741&postcount=34
I did that and it worked! so at least I got back my working phone. Back to square one (almost, I lost all my local copies of photos, with only cloud backup for the last 2 weeks or so) with no OTA installed. I may try it again at some other point or wait for a more safe method.

I tried relocking the bootloader and messed up

[SOLVED]
Hello, so i followed the guide on here to go back to the stock rom from LOS(Lineage OS). I had done that right. Then i tried relocking the bootloader. I did that successfully. Now, i have 2 problems i have run into.
1) there is no recovery mode
i tried booting into recovery and all it does is flash the ZTE logo for a second than turn off. This keeps happening. I am not sure how to flash the recovery image since the bootloader is locked and i have no recovery mode.
2) when i boot my device, it asks for a password (a 3x3 grid).
I tried typing in the password i used for TWRP and it didn't work. I tried a bunch of old passwords but so far nothing has worked. I would like to know how to get the password and turn this off. I found this very annoying on LOS.
Please help me as i am not sure what to do!!
edit: i cannot seem to get the device to conect to the computer using adb or fastboot.
if you can can we excahnge phone numbers to fix this faster?

Glad you got it back alive.

Rooted, used an app to turn off services and now I can't get in my phone

When I go to turn it on it gets past all but 1 of the boot stages, the very last one, right before it goes to the lockscreen.
I installed this app called "Disable Service" by "WangQiTools"
and I turned off a few services under SystemUI (5.0.1) like an idiot, I think they were keygaurd and something else but that's whats causing this
I tried safe mode but it still wont let me enter
If I could maybe get some help reversing root or uninstalling this app to revert changes that would be great

Stock rom
Do you have a back up of the data? Which version of the stock ROM is it running?
To quickly solve the issue, I recommend re-flashing the existing ROM; however, this may cause a loss of all data on the phone.
If you are running a stock 4.2.2 or earlier ROM, I suggest flashing the 4.2.2 stock ROM from sammobile.com using Odin.
Unfortunately, AT&T never released a full ROM after 4.2.2. If the phone is running 4.3 or newer, you will need to look at these threads to re-flash:

yeah its running 5.0.1 lollipop, I unfortunately don't have a backup.... is there any way to just unroot it? I can't afford loosing all my data, its very critical to me
whats the risk of reflashing
Reflashing may still not allow the phone to boot without performing a factory reset from stock recovery which means losing data.
Apps are usually uninstalled from the ROM settings. Unfortunately, that option isn't available at this time.
Did you try wiping the cache?

what rom do you suggest I flash, and how should I go about flashing it? do I just boot the phone into download mode and use odin?? I've never done this
This may help as there is a link to the full NB1 firmware for Odin: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-to-update-to-i337oc3-5-0-1-keeproot-t3075814
Notes from the linked thread:
If you are not already rooted (or to unbrick) you must first flash the I337UCUFNB1_Rootable_Full_Odin.tar (use Odin's PDA slot (AP in Odin v3.09+

okay so I am rooted but I am bricked, so I'm guessing I have to flash I337UCUFNB1_Rootable_Full_Odin.tar regardless of the fact that I am rooted? also this scares me --> "3. No need to wipe prior to flashing! The ROM will automatically perform a factory data reset."
