Phone answer swipe - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I just switched from the TMo OS to the International version, now the answer swipe goes down where as before it was up. I have declined too many call now so my question is, is there an option to change the direction of the swipe?

No, but you can install google phone, which goes up...

There's an option in phone settings to swipe up to answer. At least on 9.0.13 there is.

As above setting in phone app to change. Was doing my head in. Swipe down to answer wtf.

OK so I am using Google phone app but the setting to change to swipe up was in the OP phone app.
EDIT: Stupid me. I was using Google Phone to make calls but had forgot to switch it to the default for all calls in settings.
Thanks

How to change the time on when you need to fingerprint unlock.

Not making sense my title. My friend just bought a GS5 for AT&T.. I have mine for T-mobile. He swiped his fingerprint to unlock his phone, then like 5 minutes later I picked it up to play with it, turned it on thinking I would need his finger print, but i didn't.. Just swiped to unlock.
He said he forgot where the setting is, but he doesn't have to swipe his finger every time the screen is off.. I do. and its kind of annoying.
Where is this setting pleasee???
I would imagine that he doesn't have the setting to lock automatically when he hits the power button selected.

ok here is the deal. I was able to find where I can have my phone lock with the finger printer after xx amount of time ( I set mine for 30 minutes ) but!!!!! What he has.. When he turns his display off and back on, he has to swipe to open it. Like a typical unlock, after 30 minutes though, his will require a finger print.
now with mine, after I finger print it, I turn the display back on and its just ON. I don't like that because of butt dialing or any other issues. I want to be able to swipe to open, after 30 minutes finger print.
We played with his today trying to find where he made those settings and he can't find it now.
ARGGG!! this is so annoying, lol
COME ON!!! Is everyone confused as well?? Are we all in the twilightzone?
lol ttt
really? no one knows the answer to this?

WRONG!
Anyone else?
look.. It's this easy.
On his GS5. when he powers off his screen with the sleep button, and turns it right back on, he has to swipe to unlock. But every 30 minutes, he has to use his finger print.
Get it?? so if I'm driving home from work and unlock my phone 3-7 times, I don't want to have to use a finger print to do it, but I do want to swipe to unlock.
but every 30 minutes of inactive use, it will automatically lock to a finger print.
His is set this way, how is this done!

I realize this is annoying to you but your response to someone trying to help you was rude.
I also don't see anywhere other than the lock screen settings to manage your security settings. Mine also works like your friends, seemingly by default. The only thing I can suggest is to change the security to swipe and then back to fingerprint. Maybe it's some kind of glitch you found.

It's a forum, it's read differently to some people, it wasn't meant as rude. Although the reply was extremely basic, I know how to get into my security settings.
What I'm asking seems harder to find then a noob trying to root his phone. It is frustrating. It's a basic feature and I'd love to have it
Hello,
Go to lockscreen setting and set the lock automatically time to 30 mins. Also you will find an iption below stating lock instantly with power button, disable that option and you are done. Your phone will lock to fingerprint oly after 30 minutes of inactivity

Still not helping.. Again...
When I shut my screen off with the power button and turn it back on, it just turns on without any swiping needed. After 30 minutes finger print is needed.. But I want to have to swipe to unlock my phone, finger print within 30 minutes!!

This is how I feel right now
I'm on XDA forums, not some kiddy site and we can't figure this out.
someone mentioned it was a bug, maybe that is true? But I would love to see if someone can confirm this. Is it a bug. Is it simply NOT possible?
Do people understand what I'm saying?
It's not an app. He literally just bought the phone that day! He still talks about it with me all the time. I laugh at how the genius's here can't figure this thing out.
I mean.. Maybe I start a thread, "What do you use to unlock your phone"
I can't see people using fingerprint EVERYTIME to just open the phone for a second. It takes too long.
I think most people just don't even use the fingerprint option and thats why this thread is lacking any replies.
I use fingeprint all the time. I have looked at all my settings and cant find any options to set swipe as temporary lock screen.
I wish I could as I would like that option too. However I dont think that fingerprint takes too long. I just swipe my thomb and the phone opens.
Your problem sounds like something is preventing the phone from even locking. I had a similar issue on my Galaxy S4. There's an app called Swann View Plus that I would use for viewing our cameras at work. For some reason, whenever I opened it, clicked back to home, and then locked the screen, when I woke up the phone I would not have to swipe to unlock, it would just be there at the home screen.
Now I have the same app on my Galaxy S5 and it doesn't do that, however I would look towards some kind of app causing this issue. Wipe your device to factory and check to see if it is still doing the same thing as it is now, or if it does as your friend's does which is also what mine does.

Disabling Swipe to Call/Swipe to Message in Stock Messages App on Galaxy S5

Im trying to disable the swipe left to right to call, and swipe right to left to message feature thats in the stock Messages app on the Verizon Galaxy s5. I find myself accidentally calling people Im texting, and trying to explain why I called. I like swipe functions, but this particular one can be quite annoying, especially since the option to turn it off isnt exactly the most obvious to me.
Ive tried going into settings in the stock messages app, and theres nothing there about swipe commands. I even went into the settings and tried the motions and gestures option, nothing. Language and input, nothing. I even tried to edit the settings in the phone app, and you can only disable swipe to call when youre in the phone app, but nowhere else, which seems a little counter intuitive to be able to turn it off in the phone app, and not in the messages app.
Is there something Im missing? It really isnt making much sense to me that it cant be turned off. The Messages app Im talking about is the one that looks like a white envelope, with a yellow sheet of lined paper coming out of the top, not the Message+ that comes with the Verizon bloatware.
If anyone can help Id really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
Cannot just disable the message portion you have to disable the complete swipe action. To do this, open dialer then select menu ->settings -> Contacts -> uncheck "Swipe to call or send message."
I know this is older but I am trying to disable the same feature. Un-checking that box only effects contacts, not the action from within messenger. Is there a way to disable it in messenger also or is the only option to not use the Samsung one?
I do hate when crappy "features" are not optional.
I ended up ditching the stock app and going with a paid version of chompsms. Works great and doesn't have this feature. To delete or call a contact from the conversation screen its actually a long hold action, which is a bit safer from accidental deletions.
Worked for me. Was so annoying, thanks for the help!

Hey guys! Still nothing? Are we stuck with this "ingenuity" for good?
Man, I hope just one of the morons who designed this feature read this thread one day. I hate this feature.

How to change out the stock dialer for calls?

When I first setup my phone, I was asked which app I wanted to use for calls. I just chose the stock dialer, I decided I really don't like it but the phone doesn't show in the app manager and people doesn't show it as the default.
Do I need to factory reset my phone to change this?
I would say go into the current dialer settings under app and clear it's defaults

I've noticed something annoying with the dialer on the HTC 10 that was never an issue on my HTC One M8.
I often like to answer an incoming call, and immediately move the call to speakerphone, before even saying, "Hello." With the M8 I could press the "answer call" button, and immediately press the speakerphone button and say, "Hello." With the HTC 10, however, after pressing the button to answer the call, the speakerphone button is not immediately available. There is a delay of perhaps 1-2 seconds before I can select the speakerphone button. Are others experiencing the same thing? If so, does anyone have a solution?

Go to Settings - Apps. Top right side is 3 dots... Hit that then choose Configure Apps. In there you would see Set Default. In there you can choose the Google Dialer as the default Phone app.
I've just tried this and the default dialer changes from Sense To Google. However, when in a call, none of the Google Dialer buttons work. The mute does not mute. The speakerphone does not turn on the speakers. Oh, and the phone also rings silently. When trying to change the notifications, it says this app does not have permission to change system settings...

That is it, however, weird I picked contacts+ as my dialer but it still goes to the HTC dialer, I guess I'll have to wait for Verizon to get rooted and Roms to come available to switch it out. Thank you for the help

Incoming calls displayed on second screen

When I'm using my phone, a call comes in it takes up the entire screen and I can't do anything but accept or reject the call. My wife's v20 alerts her to a call on the second screen and doesn't interfere with whatever she is doing. How can i me mine do that as well?

what device, what rom ?
I don't have that menu in my settings either but you can find if if you open the dialer and go to settings from there.
I'm on WETA's rom.

Sorry I should of mentioned the rom it's a VS995 running NotSoStock.
I found the second screen option under dialer. It was already set to second screen, I set it to something else and then back to second screen but it still doesn't seem to be using the second screen. Any ideas?

It's possible that the Verizon caller ID app is running interference on this. Try disabling it (unless you pay for this service).

Im having the same issue with H990DS with stock rom & mk2000 kernel.
Have you managed to fix this?
I ran stock most of the time on my V20 and all of my calls would pop up on the second screen like you describe your wife's phone doing. I always assumed it was enabled with second screen or by default
I know that you already posted that you don't have this option but I thought I'd post some screenshots of what it looks like on mine (H990DS). I put the screenshots in the order that they come in. Mostly in case this helps someone else out with this issue.

Cant get calls to second screen even when "show voice calls while in app" is selected

Cant get calls to second screen even when "show voice calls while in app" is selected
At first I hadn't noticed this, but then my brother (who has the same H990DS but stock unrooted) asked me why I hadn't setup to get calls in second screen while in app.
I got to settings and there was selected "show voice calls while in app: Second screen".
I tried deleting call cache and data. I hadn't tried factory reset because I think it's tiresome, and I don't want to do it until I can safely upgrade to oreo and root (if that happens someday).
So, I have done plenty of "customization" following xda threads here.
My rom version is V10i-TWN-XX.
Kernel MK 2000 BTTF.
Gravitybox 7.2.2
I installed Zacharee1's system UI, but I didn't found it useful for me, but can't uninstall because my system UI won't work correctly anymore without the app.
I don't know if by any chance this has something to do, but I already tried searching google and the forums, and while I see people having similar issues, there is no response at all.
Thank you so much.
Hi, There's a thread here with screenshots -------->>>>> https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/incoming-calls-displayed-screen-t3621744

Maybe to do with ROM?

Yes, they are selected. I use second screen normally. It's just calls won't appear on second screen.
If I select "popup mode" calls come on popup screen, when changing to "second screen", it is like if main screen is selected.
