Power supply - fast charging - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Can someone recommend a USB charger for quick charge that is working with my beloved essential phone?
My current charger doesn't charge the phone any more, so I have ordered a new one, this time showing the voltage in digits. It starts with fast charging, and then quickly lowers the voltage until the phone doesn't loose power at best, but it does not charge anymore. So I'm kind of sceptical to all the intelligence being inside these chargers.
Recommendations for models currently available on Amazon are highly appreciated!

My bad, I updated the first link, originally it was for an open box item, now new.

This is what I bought and it works great.

Wireless Charger

Hey guys so I was wondering I know having the correct phone charger is important because having the correct voltage is key and can ruin your batter. So I was wondering do I need to find the right wireless charger to match our phone's battery voltage or does wireless charging not related. Also what are some cases that match the voltage needed by the nexus 4.
Thanks
The wireless charging is using the qi Standard, so every qi certified charger will work fine

I got the Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 charger.
Around 10€ @ Amazon. Works perfect with the MXP.

So any qualcomm quick 2.0 charger will have the same functionality and speed?

Confirm that it's working great
Recommend Tronsmart qc2.0 chargers, They are qualcomm certified, and featured quick charge brand.
I just bought a tronsmart QC charger for my car. How do I know if quick charge is working though? It just displays charging still...

On stock, it'll display turbo power connected. If cm, use Ampere from the play store
Hmm OK well I don't think the one I bought is really a quick charger unless my car simply doesn't put enough power out?! It only displays charging and I'm on stock.

Check using Ampere in market.
Charging time
Hi Guys does ant tested how much time it is taking to fully charged from 0%.
Does any one have turbo 25 charger if yes how much it is taking to fully charged with that turbo 25 charger.
I have the same question as sandeep,
how long does the turbo need to charge the bat?
Does the Turbo charger simply has more power than standard chargers, or is there anything else special or proprietary?
More amperage,my turbo charger is 2.4a, whereas standard ones are 1a I believe
There's more to it than just straight amperage in the charging circuit, here is a good explanation of it
http://www.androidauthority.com/quick-charge-explained-563838/
The newer fast charge systems use a stepped system to always give the most amps the battery can take for any given situation. There is actually 3 systems right now (I hate when everyone can't agree)
There is Quick Charge 2.0 (QC 2.0) used by Moto & HTC, 2nd the new USB-C connector has its own spec for fast charge but unfortunately a lot of the USB-C coming on newer devices are only using the old USB 2.0 spec - so no fast charge available. Last but not least One Plus has their own unique fast charge spec.
From what I have read if you have a good USB cable (one designed for charging) and you have USB adapter capable of at least 3.0 amps it might trigger the QC 2.0 circuit in the phone to go into turbo mode but it is not a given fact, more like trial and error.
The phone needs more than 5 hours to charge fully. The quick charger is a must have i my eyes.
I'll order the TurboPower™ 15 now.

Fast charging

I recently bought an s7e. New but used from Craigslist. In all my excitement I didn't look inside the box and realized that the seller jipped me out of the cable and charger. Device works great. No worries there.
Main question is...what amperage does the original charger output? I'm using an aftermarket charger and cable. The output is 2.4amps. I have the fast charge option on but won't get any fast charge results. Is the original charger needed for the option to work?
Should I just get the induction charger?

I have a charge pad but it doesn't fast charge. its nice for over night tho....
I think you need to get the Sammy original plug charger for the fast charge.... its VERY nice... can get you up to working juice in like 15min... supper fast at the start then slows down, but after 15min or so you are good for many hours.
I had rapid charging on my nexus 6p. It was awesome. I just want it back for this device.

You just need a QuickCharge 2.0 or higher compatible charger. Unlike standard chargers, QuickCharge chargers use multiple voltages. Something like this would be perfect:

Quick charger

Evening all,
My Pro been dispatched, and I've just read something to say they might not come with a quick charger as standard. So is anyone confirm please? Cheers
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
It doesn't, as far as I read in all the reviews (my pro in on its way as well). The worse is that i couldn't find any compatible charger with the pump express mediatek technology. In any case, again from the reviews, it appears that the charger the ships with the phone manages to charge it in a reasonable couple of hours

Mine came with a charger labelled "Xiaomi MDY-08-EF" which is allegedly a "high-speed charger" according to http://en.miui.com/thread-105602-1-1.html . Using an external USB power meter it registers up to around 1.8A at 5V while charging, dropping down to lower amps as the phone gets full. The Ampere app doesn't measure current correctly on this phone (last time I tried it anyway) so you can't check it that way.
Thanks I shall wait and see, did see an anker USB cable quick charger on amazon so maybe that's worth a look https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CJ9OEZG/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_nxxpybGEQ7S20

It definitely doesn't fast-charge with Quick Charge chargers, I have two different ones and they don't work (just charge at regular speed).
That's for the snapdragon quick charge standard, the mediatek has its own technology called pump express. That's why the quick charge one won't work except as a "normal" charger

Hello,
I received my Redmi Pro one weeks ago and did some charge test. My Redmi Pro still blocked to 1A : official charger, powerbank Xiaomi, LeEco Pump Express fast charger ...
Do you have an idea ?
Tested with 2 Custom Roms: Xiaomi.eu and Miui-France (French users)
Thanks.
The stock charger is good enough for that 4050maH battery
I know one thing I need something better than the Amazon basic 2.1amp charger which I keep at work. 3 & half hours charge and still only about 75 percent ?

2 month old ZTE AXON 7 won't quick charge anymore.

My phone is two months old and has ceased to quick-charge. Actually, 90% of the time, it will only charge when powered down. I use the factory charger and cable but get a message that I need to use the original charger and cable. Catch 22?
I bought it at Best Buy so I took it back to them this evening. My charger is fine as is my cable. Best Buy confirmed that my issue is a factory defect and politely sent me on my way. I take care of my phones if nothing more than the fact that I've had to replace micro USB ports in the past. The weird thing is that when it charges powered down, it seems to refresh to full battery very quickly.
Has anyone else had similar issues? If in fact, I do have to deal with ZTE, what has been members experience?
Thank you for letting me vent.

U can test your charger using USB volt amp reader on another phone which supports quick charging.
If charger works as it should then u need to test your phone with multimeter to see how much current it draws while phone is powered off without charger (battery only).
But that means you need to open 2 month old phone which i dont recommend if u have warranty.
Axon 7 draws about 2.66-2.68 amps while in quick charging mode. Volts i forgot but i think it was 6v. I'm not in shop at the moment so i cant know exactly.
But for amps i remembered.
Wallor77, thank you for your reply. My charger is in good working order. In fact, I have several 2.0 and 3.0 chargers. They all work fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The Samsung displays "Fast Charger Connected" on the lock screen.
Now my ZTE Axon 7 will not charge while it is powered up. As soon as I turn it off, it charges just fine. This is really annoying!

If your charger and cable are OK, perhaps have you recently installed an application which limits the power. Such methods exists in some antivírus to preserve the health of the battery. It's just an idea.

Same thing there. If it charges normally while power off u need to see how much amps. USB volt amp reader is a good little device. I recommend for everyone to get one. It cost about 15 bucks. From there it's all about elemination process to diagnose proper issue

I second this. But $15?! You can get them for about $5 on aliexpress!
U have USB volt amp reader with both volt units, amp units, time duration and mAh over time charged value. But 15$ was about avarage price listing. I'm sure there is cheaper as well.
UPDATE: 6/2/17
I ended up sending my phone to the ZTE repair center in TX. It took about 3 weeks to get it back. There was no explanation of what was repaired and I received my original phone; not a refurbished one. All I know was that it was covered.

I am in the process of returning my 3rd Axon to ZTE. 2 of them have had this problem. It's definitely known because when I was talking to them and told them what was happening they just kind went "yeah ok" and fast tracked the whole thing. Thank god for this warranty, their quality control is ****e.

Last night, mine started doing this. It goes on and off about every two seconds. What's weird is it only does this with the quick charger. it slow charges when connected to a PC usb just fine. Its not the OEM charger either since my wife's quick charges just fine with the exact same charger.
Guess I'm going to have to call ZTE....
Mine suddenly stopped quick charging - I have 3 different chargers that work fine with other phones except for this one. And chances of all 3 of them going bad at the same time are slim to none. Tested different cables as well, but again same result. It charges with normal speed even when connected to QC3.0. Tried wiping cache. I think it's no different if I turn the phone off. Think it might be time to move on. Had it since December 2016, so I guess it's nearly 2 years old now. Still shame.

Quick update. Swapping batteries (OEM) hasn't helped. I wonder if this is software or hardware related
Let me add to this thread. I'm also not getting quick charge anymore for maybe a month already. Tried different cables, booting to safe mode, etc. There are few instances where i see quick charging but very rarely. I was thinking it's my usb port but I haven't opened my phone yet to verify.
