Battery Level Indicator using the punch hole - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi all. Been with my S10+ for almost a month now, and this device is kicking ass.
Just missing one thing though, and it's the battery indicator using led light. For the notifications, I use Holey Light by chainfire. For the battery indicator, I tried energy ring, but I but comes short as it won't show on AOD.
Does anyone know any app that uses the punch hole for battery level indicator? Like when charging, it'll show the led?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone mates?

Energy Ring is one but there are others.

Thank you for the suggestion, mate!
I've used it, but it turns off on AOD. What I need is something that is still on even on AOD.

Make LED blink every Sec ????

hi all !!
How to make XDA EXEC LED to blink every sec for any missed calls and reminders. I couldnt find the exact registry key. I felt its better to ask the experts here. hope someone can help me.
Thnxs!!
bump
Not sure, but i think it's this one:
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notifications/Default/
Change 'Duration' from 5 to 1
I am confused about your question. Why use the registry hack? You can set those notifications under settings>sound and notifications. Just check the box and set it to "NO LIMIT".
The LED light will only stop blinking orange if you delete or respond to the notification on the screen.

I think the OP is referring to the frequency of the LED rather than the duration, presumably so you can tell if you've missed an event/call at a glance rather than a stare

Thats what i really trying to do..I dont want to stare at LED to see if i have missed any event or calls. Instead if the frequency of blinking is changed, you can note the missed event quickly even if you are busy doing something.
when green and orange blinking frequency is different you can catch the missed call/event very quickly.

I thought the duration was the time between flashes (frequency)
But hey... what do i know
Ohhhhhhh. Got it. Nice idea, but it might be battery draining if left unoticed.
Yes battery will drain quickly. do anyone know how to do it ??

I much doubt it would drain much battery at all tbh
1- it's just an LED - these typically don't gobble much power at all - certainly compared to the backlight, sound and radio functions.
2- it would only be blinking like mad from the time you've missed an alert/call/text to the time you've dismissed it.
I don't know how to go about doing it but now that I think about it, this would be a great enhancement. Any thoughts from the gurus?

Camera LED as notification

Is there any way (app, reg hack) to make rear LEDs blink on missed call or message? Front green/amber LED is too small and often hard to see. Battery consumption may be a problem, but rear LED doesn't have to blink as often; quick flash (e.g. 100ms) every 30s would be ok.
The developer of TorchButton might be able to help you.
Search the forums on that name and send him a PM.
the idea is wicked
how come no one ever thought of this
That´d be totally cool. And worth a donation.
"Whoa, your mobile´s cam got insane....! -No, I just got a text "
Can see it being a big battery drain if your not around to dismiss it.
+1 for this
Great idea!
Camera light or maybe light of hardware buttons..? Would be cool!

Light of hardware buttons would be very cool too..
Yes, hardware buttons light would also be nice. PMed TorchButton dev, hope he can help...
+1 to this idea! and the hardware button for the light although making it one of your quick links is fine

I got your PM.
I'm sure this is possible, but it would probably create a battery drain while notifications are busy. This is because the device must be in unattended mode (not in standby, display off). Unattended mode is required as the flashlight and the keypad light don't stay enabled if the device is in standby. Let alone be able to make it blink with an interval.
So, while there is a notification (i.e. missed call or unread text), battery drain would go up like at least 50%.

Thank you for research on the topic, and your reply. Too bad it can't work in standby.

NO led light for charging status

When Focus is charging, there is no LED light to indicate this.
Is this just an issue with my Focus, or is this happening to other people?
Yep, same issue here with no LED notifications of any kind.
is there even supposed to be a LED?I think I only see a proximity sensor and a light sensor
There is no LED, you just look at the upper right and see the power status as it has a 'power plug' logo inside the battery meter.
Reports are same with the Dell Venue Pro.
Also, people have mentioned that the iPhone 4 has no led either and people seem to make due with it.
I think the idea it to try to forget about the battery so much and just use your phone.
on wm6.5 I spent alot of time worrying about stuff like battery life, and what was using up my battery.. and what program was running when the amp usage was high.. and make sure I turn off push email when I am home..
but with windows 7.. I am trying to not worry about those things. I plug it in at night.. and no LED is better for sleep.. then I use the phone all day and never worry about if a program is eating up memory.. or other bugs that made me crazy with wm6.5
and the absolute best thing about the phone is that it is NOT an IPHONE!!!
ok so this phone is supposed to not have a led right? i was at a party last night and in a pretty dim lit room.. made a phone call and there was a faint red light that you could see just left of the upper spreaker grill... so if you go into a dimmly lit room and wanna make a call you can see a light there.. i dont know if this is just something from inside the phone making the color or if it is a led that will be accessible with a future update.. just wanted to share that.. loving this phone!!!

[Discussion] Notification Led very bad, solutions?

Hello. Since I dont see any complains or posts about notification led, I create this post so we can share our opinions
I mean, our led is weak, not multicolor, it stops blinking after a few minutes, and when it is charging it is useless because does not blink at all (stays red).
The multicolor and weak issue it´s hardware..So I dont think there is any solution (multicolor is very useful, for example to tell apart whatsapp mesage or group, so maybe is more or less urgent..)
But, do you know any solution for "blinking time" issue and the charging issue. I read that Viper Rom has some Mod or something, but I prefer staying in stock for the time being (however, I do have root)
On the other hand, i have tried light flow app, but I do not get the led blinking, it keeps static
Thank you for your help!
Custom kernels have blink button led lights so the home and back buttons blink , this is excellent.

I think some GPE roms let you choose to have blinking led for notifications even when charging and yes, ViperOne lets you specify how long the led should blink for (its set to 60 minutes by default! lol) and you can also turn on led blinking when charging
Use Light Flow LED app from the play store. It provides an option to set different colors for different notifications.

Okey, so that could be a good solution. However I am gonna stay on stock rom until 4.4 goes out, then I surely will try some roms with this tweak

Yeah mate I tried it, it seems to work, even it gets a weird yellow led, but the led stays static, I couldn't get it blinking
Came from a long line of blackberry's so the LED is probably one of the only things I really miss. You said you're rooted, have a look around in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml or whatever your CID's xml file is:

5
- change the 5 to 0 and you should get no led timeout.
I also did the following (personal preference, I charge at night using a dock so i like to be able to glance over and see if theres anything waiting when on silent):

false
- change from false to true and the led will blink for a notification even if it's charging.
Terrible LED is for me the only thing wrong with the One. Real shame. A partial solution for me is to install Dynamic Notifications (free/paid app) which give a Moto X type visual when notifications are received. I set it so the screen goes white instead of black and flashes every minute or so after a notification arrives. Still not ideal but saves relying on the crappy LED!

Really? That's so awesome. I will wait to arrive home to try that, just in case something goes wrong... But thank you so much, if it works.. That's all I was looking for
So then the only bad thing would be that it still weak and not multicolour. To be honest, is the only bad thing I can found in this amazing phone
You are wrong i think...

Dear friend the all think with the notification led is so wired for me.I bought my one with vodafone branded new with 4.1. something firmware i think. The notification led in that firmware was bright enough no problem at all. With the 4.3 firmware witch i had now the intensity of the notification led has reduced significantly, plus i noticed that if your phone switch of during to battery empty and then you plug it for charging, the notification led opens for 5 seconds as normal as in the previous android versions....then looses its power again....So i think that this is not a hardware problem .

Yup, agree about the LED, the green/red is a hardware limitation by HTC so lightflow and other 3rd party apps don't work in changing the colour.
I didn't explain the above fully but let me know if you any issues, will be happy to help.
Hmm I have not noticed less brightness with the last update, I feel it as weak as before..

Was just searching for light flow fix htc one and found this. Bummer but thanks
Would we cool if we at least could somehow mix the red/green blinks, ie having WhatsApp blinking red-green and LINE green-red. Is not much but at least would be something. You can even take it further and have more blinking states like green-green-red or red-green-red-green and so on. Xposed module anyone?

I was exactly thinking the same buddy!
also is there a way to make the 'back' and 'home' buttons bink, without installing another kernel?

I think it's possible (search on the Market). The main difference (I believe) is that the kernel-solution will not drain the battery (other than the power consumed by the lights) and a application should be running on the background all the time listening to all apps thus draining a lot more battery. This is just the way I see it, I don't not if it's really the case!
It stops after a few minutes because It would we shifty annoying if it's keep flashing in 2 hours...

That should be our decision, should't it?

Energy ring, holey light, good lock or energy light+??

I have Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus however i am unable to identify app i can settle for cutout notification.
I have used Energy ring however it does not let you change until you buy the application for battery indicator but it does not have notification settings.
Holey light had so many setting options that i got confused and uninstalled the app
Good lock screenshots are in chinese hence i do not know what exactly it does
Energy light+ looks good but not installed to check as of now.
Which one are you using and which one you removed?
I dropped the $3 for Energy Ring. I don't need a notification light as I have my Gear S3 for notification. Don't regret the extra features. If $3 is too much, sign up for Google Rewards (taking surveys). You'll have $3 in no time.
Holey Light is the Holy Grail of Notification as Poor Sammy ditched our favourite Notification LED

Yes, it does. Why don't you just give it a try? It is the closest solution, yet.
Try Holely...
Holey Light all the way...
I paid for Energy Light. I love it. I use Good lock (with Quick Star) to remove the battery icon and only leave the percentage on. I use Holey light for the AOD notifications but I honestly don't think it makes that much of a difference and I don't think i'll miss it. I will keep Energy Ring though! lol
AOD-Edge Lighting app for me , very easy to make it work
