Hi everyone. I bought a Redmi Note 7 from AliExpress. It was a Chinese version with a global ROM put on by the seller (unsealed box and unlocked bootloader) and I've never had a problem with these, and I save a couple of bucks. This one though had network problems. It wouldn't connect to any network or connects for seconds and show very poor and fluctuating network coverage and won't make calls (once It received a text)
Under SIM cards and mobile networks almost everything seems fine ; different sim cards are identified correctly, access point names, preferred network type are set up correctly, although when searching manually for networks I don't see all available networks. (see screenshots)
Under About phone/ Status everything seems fine (IMEI present and same as the one written on the box)
Here's what I tried:
- I tinkered with the testing menu (tap 5 times on Internal Storage) and tried various tricks I saw on YouTube like changing network type, enabling and disabling VOLTE/video calling/... with no success
- I updated the ROM without success so flashed various fastboot images (CN / India Global / EEA Global) and MIUI.EU but nothing changed.
- My sister's Note 7 is also Chinese version with global ROM and it's correctly working, so I extracted the QCN file from it using QPST and edited it to put my own IMEI numbers then restored it to my phone. Nothing changed.
- I made a nandroid backup from my sister's phone and restored it onto mine and got various results depending on the partitions I restored (Empty IMEI so I had to restore my QCN backup or bootloop so I had to restore my own backup or flash a fastboot image again)
I'm all out of ideas and would appreciate any kind of help.

Hey
Sorry you're having these issues. You posted a ton of info in those photos. More than I would have time to digest. Maybe other people have more time. I did notice in one of the first images that there was no sim card inserted. Are you sure you have it in there? sim slots 1 & 2 "Phone Number - Unknown", Sim Status (sim slot 1) Emergency calls only, Sim Status (sim slot 2) "No service". I'm putting this out more to try to offer some help, but not to enter a big dialogue with you as I'm too busy. Hope you're able to find the help you need.
BTW I bought my phone and tend to buy them on Amazon as if there are any issues you can return them for a full refund with no hassles whatsoever. I paid about $20 more for mine, but it's worth that in case there are issues. Mine's the official global version from the factory, not some installed ROM version which you're having these issues with. Can you return your phone to AliExpress? Don't they have a 14 day return policy? Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. SIM cards where correctly inserted. It sometimes shows Emergency calls only for either SIM or both but they are correctly detected. As I said I tried multiple working SIM cards with inconsistent results.

Most Amazon seller don't delivers to my country and my phone was delivered while I was away so I guess it's a little late to return it.

with all these detailed attempts in trying to address the connectivity issues on your phone via software and still not work, I believe it is safe to point to the problem being hardware related.
That is really bad. Have u tried to verify your device https://www.mi.com/global/shield/#secur_en ?
Other then that:
1. Broken sim cards
2. Hardware problem

Thank you for your reply. The engineering test menu (*#*#6484#*#*) shows no hardware defects, shows both sims inserted, and correctly named. I tempted to think that it might be a frequency problem. Some bands might have been locked when the seller unlocked the phone to put global rom, but It' just speculation.

Thank you for your reply. The phone passes the authentification test (CN version). I used different sim cards from multiple providers, all have been tested elsewhere and are correctly working. I don't think it's a hardware problem for the reason I just mentioned above.
Good news is that Redmi Note 7 uses a Qualcomm processor.
The best thing Qualcomm chips are known for are their ability to use QPST application for unlocking the LTE bands.
Saw a thread I believe on the Mi forums for QPST and the QCN file you need to unlock them.
Another person was trying to unlock the bands on their Chinese Redmi Note 7.
I'd consider this route as a last resort if you're unable to return the device.
Keep in mind that you're flashing the modem for your phone via QPST.
When done right, you can unlock the bands on your phone assuming the one you have doesn't support your phone provider's LTE /HSPA bands.
I'd spend the rest of today researching the process and how QPST works. When done wrong, you will damage your modem and break the phone. It's a powerful program and is best used by someone who is knowledgeable and willing to risk breaking their phone.
Just wanted to put that out there for informational purposes. None of us are responsible if you brick/break your phone so proceed with caution at your own risk

Thanks for sharing all that. I was wondering about the details of this process. I live in the United States and I bought a Redmi Note 7 Pro from China a couple of weeks ago and then found out that since it's not the global version, which I knew they hadn't released, there would be a lot fewer bands available, and thus it might not work well where I'm at. So I'm going to return it or sell it. Oddly now it seems to have been lost in the mail as it arrived in Los Angeles about a week ago, 90 miles from me, but has now disappeared and the post office can't track it down. But that's why I bought this Redmi Note 7 Global version instead. Because of the much better band availability here. And after I had purchased the Pro version I asked about possibly opening up more bands and was warned I could brick the phone, as you're warning here. I started a thread about the two version's different bands and networks availability here, and was told there too I could maybe brick my phone by trying to open it up to more bands. But I did provide great links to check on bands and network availability for both phones in all the different countries around the world. OP, you might check those out to see what's up where you're at. Here's the thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7-pro/help/redmi-note-7-pro-chinese-version-vs-t3926850
OP, hope things eventually work out.
very nice documentation of the issues you ran into with bands from different regions.

Heck yeah...
Now I'm curious if the Pro version really does have different modem hardware or if its all software based band abling /disabling going on here.
Would be a fantastic find if we can uncover its all software related. QPST isn't difficult to use provided someone knows what they're doing and has a valid QCN file IMEI data etc.
Has ifixit done a full teardown of our phones yet?
I'm interested in learning the hardware differences between the RN7 Global, Chinese and RN7 Pro models

Yeah. As we know they killed creating a Redmi Note 7 Global version due to their "product strategy". I think they're probably coming out with new models a global release of the Pro version would cut into.

Thank you for your reply. I was already desperate enough to try QPST. As I said in my first post I extracted QCN file from another working RN7 (chinese version with global rom) and edited it to put my own IMEI numbers then flashed it with no success. Wouldn't this automatically clone the working bands too ? I'm a novice when it comes to QPST but all seemed to go fine with no errors.

I have a RN7 PRO in my household too; chinese version that I unlocked myself to put indian global rom. But it was fully working outside of the box and had all the bands used in my country. This is the primary reason I cheap out and buy them chinese (currently the only working 4G band in my country is B3, expansion to B7 and B8 is in the talks and even those are active in Xiaomi chinese phones). Thank you for pointing me to your thread, I'll make sur to check it, and here's what I already found around the subject https://en.miui.com/thread-3107740-1-1.html

Thank you for your reply. The chinese versions I tried from Xiaomi have all the bands used in my country working out of the box. My guess is that something got corrupted during the unlock/flash process the seller did (they for sure can't afford to wait 360 H or more to unlock, they have other tools)

I have a n9005 XEO that i bought on ebay. it was working fine for about 5 months now until a few days ago when it just stopped getting cellular signal altogether. no calls, no data, nothing. it seemed to corespond to me using towlroot, installing supersu, and a couple of xposed add-ons, but everything seemed to work fine for a few days before i had this problem. I tried making sure that airplane mode was off, data was enabled, that i had the apn settings correct for my provider (at&t, USA), I even went so far as to restore to factory settings, and then flash another rom (the stock s5 port i found here in the dev forum). still not getting cell signal at all). I went so far as to go to the local at&t store and ask them to place my sim in a known good phone to make sure it has service (and it does and is provisioned properly and i'm paid up). my note sees the sim (i.e. no "sim not found" messages), just plain no service as if i were in a dead zone. the phone hasn't been mishandled, i've tried pulling the battery and putting it back in... I can't think of anything i'm missing here besides trying to flash the modem (which i can't seem to find the stock modem (n9005xxuenc2) or firmware on a site that doesn't take 7 hours to download it from.
can anybody help? (either with a mirror that doesn't suck for the latest stock firmware or latest stock modem, or offer any other suggestions?)

it's an n9005 xeo from poland, I'm in the USA on AT&T. I downloaded the firmware successfully from sammobile and installed it with odin 3.07 which seemed to go successfully but I still get absolutely no cellular
I've tried using the default apn, tried using at&t's apn settings (which i remember having to do last time before i got data but i'd always been able to make calls and that's not working right now either), no effect...
anybody have any ideas?

as i noted I rooted it with towlroot, installed supersu, and a coupe of xposed add-ons. but everything was working afterwards for about a week before i had this problem. otherwise, I was using my phone one night, i wake up, and see that i have no service. it was after a big storm so i figured they were doing service on the tower, until my work iphone rings (on the same network) and that feeling of dread set in so i went about trying to diagnose the problem and here i am.

even if it were blacklisted, it should still allow me to place 911 calls and the like. it should work like a deactivated phone. it's not. just in case i was wrong, I also verified the imei on swappa and they confirm that it is indeed NOT blacklisted.
also i'm not sure why it would be blacklisted to begin with. it was working one day then i went to use it the next and bam, not working. i don't get it.

Sounds like your IMEI got tampered or stolen and got blacklisted. Usually this would happen, especially when buying phones online.

But I've used several reputable services to check my IMEI number and they all say that my imei is in good standing... I don't get it. besides, what causes an imei to be blacklisted to begin with? - I wasn't trying to circumvent any security features, had no malware, no reason at all for an accounts admin to want to get me off the network. my account is in good standing, and my sim still works in an old iphone that i've got (i'm using that until i can sort out my regular phone situation).

The fact that someone had the phone with them can easily get it stolen. It's a plain 15 digit number, easily forgeable just by looking at the box, and since it has no authentication, people can just get your phone blacklisted by placing it on a defunct phone that hacks the network (or something).
well tonight i took it apart to see if there was a problem with the antenna cables, connections to the various peripheral devices and such and alas, no effect... still does exactly the same thing after field stripping the unit and resenting everything. if it's hardware, it's nothing i can tell...
I was also able to generate a .pit file, grab the latest build for my csc from sammobile (takes forever) and did a nand erase in odin with the pit and the downloaded stock rom... everything went great, but it got me to exactly the same place i'm at... working phone, no service. I have no money, but i think i'm going to just end up ebaying it and buying an s3 until i can save up enough for a note 4 or nexus 6... for now, i'm on a crappy old iphone 4 with a broken lock button, but that's another thread.
well it's been about a month and a half since i've had a decent phone (my 3 phones ago iphone 4 really doesn't cut it). after giving it some thought, I think i might buy a broken-screen sm-n900t, and swap it's mainboard into my phone. hardware-wise i believe they are exactly the same, it should be easily rooted with unlocked baseband,it would give me LTE on at&t, and it should be easily unlocked so i can use it on at&t... it should also only cost me 1/8 the cost of a good condition used n900t. ($60 or so on ebay i hope?).
still pretty sad that such a nice phone quit on me so quickly

Why don't you swap the N9005's screen onto the N900T and keep it like that? The N900T if I can recall, has the most bands available worldwide and if you're already replacing it, just enjoy the vast amount of customizations and potential the N900T has.
Did you pursue all avenue including Samsung service/repair centre or even Samsung line enquiry to confirm it's not blacklisted?

that's basically the plan, except the motherboard lives on the display side of things, so it would be swapping in a new motherboard (n900t). we both describe the same plan of action.
Hey everyone, just another thing I'm facing with my Note 4...
Ever since I got my Note 4, it's been having some problems with No Service, so I thought it was my old SIM card (that had to be hacked off into microSIM shape), but since I got it exchanged for a new one it's still dropping into No Service very often, like twenty times in 5 minutes. Then it seems to be fine for a few hours, but then it happens again a few times and so on...
Basic info:
SM-N910F
Stock, unrooted NK4 ROM with NK4 modem as there is no way to not trip KNOX yet.
O2 Czech Republic
In the same places, my S2 never had a single signal drop (No Service)—not sure if these two things are identical?
Questions/thoughts...
Could this be modem related or could it be something with the device itself?
Is there any way to test it?
I mostly notice it on H and H+, not so much (never) on EDGE, 4G coverage is rare in my area, so I can't say exactly.
Factory reset: could it change something in this case? I'm saving it as the penultimate solution, before getting a new one.
Thanks for your help.
I think I found a little bit of correlation between when and where it happens. Not really sure if it happens only when I'm close to some WiFi network, but I just noticed that when I'm in proximity of a WiFi network, the NO SERVICE is very often.
Plus, when I think about it, I haven't noticed it anywhere else, but in WiFi areas. Is the phone trying to tell me to use the WiFi?! Well, I can do that at home but nowhere else as I don't want my packets sniffed more than they already are by the provider...
Seriously, is there any way that WiFi networks could interfere with my phone's signal/service?

look in settings. smart switch moves data from your mobile network to wifi and back.

Yeah, found it, Smart network switch in Wi-Fi settings. I have it unticked. So this shouldn't be affecting me(?) As the No Service happens to me when I'm on mobile data, in Wi-Fi range but my Wi-Fi is off...
no solution yet
I still haven't figured out what's the problem exactly.
But me and my colleague have the same provider, but she's got an S4 and when I had them side-by-side I noticed that both phones dropped to No Service at the same time, but my S2 didn't. The area is fine, signal-wise, there's even a mediocre 4G, but at the time all of them were on H+. And when they "regained consciousness", they were starting from zero signal EDGE back to full H+.
This makes me wonder, as it seems it's got to have something to do with some setting in both phones / SIM cards' setup. Both of them have new SIM cards and both of them did it even with the old ones.
I'm gonna call my provider's tech support to see what they have to say about it.
I am experiencing the same problem here in USA. I bought the phone from Amazon Germany, using it on AT & T network in US. For no reason the phone drops the phone call and goes into " Not registered on network" message. This lasts anywhere from 20 seconds to 5 minutes, then without me doing anything goes back to normal. I was using this phone in Czech republic for a week in January and had no issues.
I was experiencing no service on my Exynos n910u and I ended up reflashing ONLY the modem, and it's fine now.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
It seems to me like a modem issue too. I remember that I had to change modem on my S2 in order for H+ to work.
And since I can see there is an issue when changing countries, it would suggest it as possible... However, does flashing modem only trip the Knox counter or something? I can't read through the forums right now, so I'm asking politely here.
Anyway, I isolated the issue to 3G networks, because when I force my phone to be 2G only it never drops, my signal is green and seldom grey. No service never occurs, but as soon as I switch it to 2G/3G/4G or something else that includes 3G, it starts again.

Wanted to thank you for the input, this just suggests that the modem/radio is at fault. Because you relocated to a different area and it doesn't work properly with the bands there.
I had the same problem on my S2, which was unable to connect to 3G until I flashed the modem recommended to me by someone here on xda. But that was almost 4 years ago, I just don't understand why this happens, what's so different that the modem just wouldn't connect, plus the S2 was bought from my provider and it was branded with their bloatware and still, it didn't work.
But here on my N4, it's similar, but it seems to work just fine and then, all of a sudden, you're facing No Service message for a few seconds or minutes, then boom, you're back on.
I spoke with Samsung support today, and I guess they didn't even understand what I was saying. I'm gonna have to visit them and ask around, if they could flash the modem to something more compatible with my area. Can't use the phone like this, that's why I bought it in the first place - I need to be online and as fast as possible. But now, it would seem like I'm better off with my S2

Well, that sucks...
So, I had my phone serviced and they said everything was fine and that it's working the way it should.
Of course it isn't, the second I walked out of there I had a No Service a few times again, I already tried changing the bands only to what my provider has, didn't help at all, switched it back to all available bands. Naturally, I got really pissed. There seem to be only two viable options:
a) flash a different modem, as suggested in a previous post
or
b) get rid of the phone, which I really don't wanna do, but it's really annoying having to resend every second message (often twice), be it SMS or IM, because it drops into No Service...
ad a) I did a search and I was unable to find a modem thread or anything regarding modems for N910F, am I blind or there isn't one? Or am I supposed to extract it myself from a stock ROM file? (I don't even remember how to do that anymore, lol.... I guess there is a guide for that, but again, I haven't found it?! Or is it universal across Samsung devices?)
ad b) I love the phone but this makes me wanna throw it out the window
Thanks for any kind of help! I'm desperate.

Thank you for your reply!
I haven't solved them yet, but it got a lot better when I updated to Lollipop. It's got a different modem (BOC4) and it seems to have improved my situation. So happy I didn't have to throw the phone away after all.
To be clear, it still happens but a lot less since the update, maybe once a week, for a few seconds which I deem acceptable but not ideal.
Hi, i just got the Nexus 6p on friday.
My carrier is Videotron in Canada. When the sales rep activated my phone, a mistake was made in my account and phone logged on to the network but I couldnt make or receive calls and text messages. After hours with tech support the problem hadnt been resolved so i started playing around with the phone and accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu. I went to band select and 3 options were there. USA BAND, BAND 6 AND BAND 7. I selected USA BAND which still didnt fix the problem. Today the carrier fixed my issue but now I am always on roaming although phone functions properly. I suspect that it is because i played around with the band selection. Any way to restore it to the way it was originally? I tried factory reset, i tried loading the the factory image and still encounter the same issue.
Anyone?
So no experts here would know how to restore my original band?
I tried rel-flashing original factory image, boot, vendor and radio. Still no luck.
Did you try to reflash the Modem.bin?
Your thread is WAY too specific to gather any atention within the forum. Try broadening you question
Well no matter what I do after going to phone util menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and changing my band to USA Band i continue to be roaming. If I go to cellular network menu, I see my carrier there but when selected it tells it cant connect to it. I have a feeling that when i selected the band i screwed something up. The band i should be using here in Canada is BAND 4 but its not a selection i can make as the only ones shown are USA BAND, BAND 6 AND BAND 7. Is there anything i can flash to it to make it go back to full factory? I did flash the latest factory files, would think the modem.bin would also be flashed through that.

That does nothing.
so i just finished downloading the factory image and there no modem.bin file in there. Where would I find that file?
I did the same mistake and now am left with an expensive music player! have tried everything,no dice. Looks like the one solution is to fix it with QPST but there are no guides out there for the 6P yet. Hope this comes to attention of some dev who can help.
got my phone through videotron. they replaced the phone and all is well. but i'd still to know if theres a solution to this.

@bigxie I read this post of yours http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37647704&postcount=16. I could be wrong but it looks like this could fix the issue we have here in this thread. The only options I see on the 6P when selecting bands are 'USA band','Japan band', 'Band 6'. I live in India. After clicking on USA band I've lost all radio stuff and no amount of flashing the factory images or factory resets have fixed it. Can't figure where the band change data got stored on the phone. Could you please help ?

Hi, sorry, I just saw that mention.
I've submitted this patch to CM a while ago, so it should be included in CM builds for Nexus 6P. If you're bootloader unlocked, you might try flashing CM to access the full band list.
But, it's also possible that this is a device specific issue (changing the band once sets it permanently?) Since on other devices, I remember that a simple restart just reverts the band selection to default.

Actually, I don't even have a Nexus 6P, I just responded because @SurenSeven dug up my old fix for the band selection feature completely crashing on the Nexus 4 when trying to select additional bands.
This fix has been incorporated in CM since version 10.1. Unfortunately, as CM13 is the only version available for Nexus 6P, and it's still being actively developed, it seems the patch hasn't been merged yet.
Furthermore, even when it does get merged, I have no idea if it'll fix your issue or not.
So basically, good luck guys

Any news on this? I was dumb enough to do the same mistake...
I am having a similar issue in that the phone works when I am in the US, but when I go international it does not work at all.
Flash Chroma ROM dial *#*#4636#*#* select the "Automatic" band that should fix you. You can then flash any ROM or go back to stock after that.
Hi guys,
Been into android modification since 7 years but gave up since my last 2 phones. So i got this unlocked at&t galaxy s7 in uae and it worked like charm, the network and coverage. I then started usingthe phone in pakistan too and it worked well even here. So one day i connected to gear vr so that i can initiate the oculus data installation as first time setup but the gear vr kept on disconnecting automatically. I have used it before too but never had problem. Then i rebooted the phone and i find that i have no signals at all even though my sim contacts are being displayed and there is no “no sim” message on statusbar even. But dont have any signals at all. I then inserted my sim to iphone and it was working perfect. Then i inserted different carriers sims to s7 but yet they werent working even. I then cleared the cache, factory reset, cleaned the sim slot and the sim , but no success. I left ky ohone turned off for days andeven drained battery 100% many times to calibrate and perform hardware reset but no success. I then sent the phone back to uae for repairing from my friend as i thought that the antennae were the one’s responsible but before he even thought of disassembling the ohone, he inserted uae sim and it worked perfectly. Call and data were working perfectly. Any idea what is the problem? Kindly let me know pleaseeee. Is there any problem with frequency? Like gsm or cdma? But the phone worked before. I tried to enter the settings of manually selecting networks but there was error popup “No service and signal”. Signal strength 0asu -113dvm

Forgot to tell, my phone has never been rooted, i even tried to enable/disable “Enable hd LTE features” but no luck. Its on 7.0. Dont recieve OTA. Not blacklisted either. Pakistan doesnt have CDMA. I have even noticed it recieving weak signals compared to my iphone when the phone was working ok. And my radio is showing to be off and when i turn it on from the dial code menu. It doesnt keep turned on and it turns off automatically. I still have the imei amd baseband version. Dunno what the issue is.
Kindly reply guys

Settings>connections>mobile networks> apn settings or access point names
Manually enter your carriers information you'll have to ask them or look it up online sure its easy to find they might even help you in store
Its not good for you to buy these US phones outside of the US because changing CSC to INS/INU/PAK could prove to be difficult being it was never supported by snapdragon G930A model but only exynos G930F although it's not impossible
/system/csc/others.xml is where your answers are waiting for you unless you update to oreo then it'll be in /system/omc/cscfeature.xml and cscfeature_network.xml
You will need a root file manger to be able to see what I'm talking about then you will have to figure out what those "strings" mean
Unless you want to mod and figure out make your phone awesome just flash other US firmware that uses gsm network only i think ATT only uses gsm and you can root to debloat ect.
Here's a method for rooting
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616/amp/
I'm sure there's people in your surrounding area that are into androids and rooting that understand and can help you figure things out if you know any one woth a G930F/G935F INS/INU/PAK thatd be awesome. If your imei number is truly gone from your phone its should still be on the back of the phone
I know this isn't the best help but you aren't the first post I've seen of Pakistanian with US S7 tryjng to figure it out.. idk if he ever did but if you learn you can help others as well
*note: when I say change csc I don't mean flashing firmware in odin, that is impossible. I mean porting it yourself with root like in the link below this one
*another note: I am not saying use the link below as anything other than an example because again that link was developed for Eynos phones and not your snapdragon so it probably wouldn't work but just so you have an idea of csc
forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957/amp/
My husband and I both have a stock N910T. When we woke up yesterday neither phone would get signal, and not even make wifi call. Went to TMo shop today they told me that they were no longer sending signal to Note 4's (Thanks for the heads up TMo). We really like these phones and I wonder if I could root them and flash a stable ROM and get service on them again. When I pull the sim it shows 5 bars, put the sim back and X. I have rooted many phones, but not since I got this one 6 years ago, so I'm sure I'm a bit rusty.
Any advice highly appreciated. TIA
I'm in the same boat with the note edge. It stopped working friday night for me. Put the sim in a stock note 4 and same thing, so I thought my sim card died. Went to the tmobile store on saturday and they said 2 people had came in with the same issue and they had note 4s.
What I don't understand is how they can just stop supporting a phone. I thought that if it accepts the sim card and has the proper bands it'll work. I mean for ****s sake my car takes a tmobile sim for a hotspot and traffic updates.
same exact. i just factory reset and updated stock to see if it would fix but it wont. Any solutions here??
Try to:
a. flash a custom TWRP (recovery) with Odin
IMPORTANT - after you flash TWRP PLEASE TAKE A FULL BACK-UP!
b. flash a custom ROM with root
c. why root? because you can change the build.prop file and "pretend" to be another phone (newer more likely) so that the lovely t-mobile can still allow your phone to connect to the network.
This way you have zero costs, you keep your note 4.
Unless it's too complicated or the procrastination level is TDH (too damn high)
Or you have the cash and buy something new(er).
There's info on this forum about all these steps.
Before you do anything - go and read, search on this forums and on youtube. There are a LOT of tutorials.
Please be careful and READ. Get educated about custom recovery/ROM's.
You will get good knowledge and your satisfaction on make things work will be enormous.
You will be responsible on your actions with the phone.
Good luck.
mine is already rooted with a custom rom. which parameters do you recommend changing in build.prop?
my audi is older than the note 4 and data works fine and calls work on a motorola L6 from 2005, so I doubt it's the age.
someone on reddit came up with a temporary solution until they fix this. you'll lose 4g/LTE tho
To set to 3G/2G turn on airplane mode and enter *#2263#* on the phone dialer. Then select GSM/WCDMA Auto. After that turn airplane mode off.
Hey all - same issue here - Note 4 stopped working Friday morning. I tried everything on my end (factory reset, ROM flash, SIM swap, etc). I even tore the phone down and checked the connections. I ordered a replacement SIM / SD card tray reader thinking that was the issue. Now I hear others having the same issue. I live in Colorado FWIW. Calling into T-Mobile now to see if I can get some info here.
---------- Post added at 02:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 PM ----------
After speaking on the phone with a tech support person, T-Mobile reported that they were aware of an issue with Note 4 users not being able to access the network. They said that they "were in contact with Samsung and were actively working on an issue" and reassured me that they would have a solution for customers soon. I sure hope so because I do not want to give up my Note 4!
Note 4 user here too. This sucks. I did the workaround on the dialer posted in one of the above posts, and now it connects. Says 4G at the top, but probably only 3G. That's fine for me in the meantime, but not acceptable in the long run. I just spent 2 days wiping the phone, unrooting, etc only to find this now! Got lots of work to do to get it back to my rooted state. Thankfully I have the backups to do it, just have to find the time now. Thanks T-Mobile!!
Has anyone heard any more on this issue?
Just had the same issue. Called T-mobile support and they had no idea of a widespread issue, said it was likely HW failure. I got a new SIM and that didn't help. Called local cellphone repair shop and they indicated they'd had several calls about this issue and fixed at least one so far by replacing the card reader. I applied the workaround above and got the phone working again so I don't understand why a new card reader is going to fix this.
Note 4 seems like it's back working on T-Mobile as of last night.
HI I purchased galaxy note 4 3 years ago in the first time I put him on i has that problem yet
But I live in curacao in the Caribbean and I think that the mother board was not good.
Then I has flight to medellin Colombia with the phone he began working I was glad but when I arrived to curacao from medellin the same problem
Sometimes he is working sometime not
I have the same problem T-mobile N910T

Thanks for the update! I reversed the workaround I applied earlier and mine is back to 4G LTE now.
Any update on this issue?
The N915-T is spotty and I'm trying to figure out why. It was officially kicked off the network by T-Mobile, but it still works. It connects to most towers but not to a particular one. Whenever I'm on that block the network can not be found. If I walk two blocks away it would connect to another tower and I can make calls. If I walk back toward the 'faulty' tower while on the call, the quality would degrade, the call drops and the phone would lose signal.
This would NOT happen with other phones - not even an older Galaxy S2.
This is likely a different issue altogether, as the phone actually connects and works elsewhere. I'm just hoping someone has an idea.
