So I just switched to Verizon prepaid (15GB) plan. Hotspot is included. For some reason, when I try to cast to a Chromecast when I'm not on WiFi, it is greyed out and it won't let me cast. I'm trying to get around using a hotspot. I'm on 1.0.13. is anyone else experiencing this issue?

There is lots of information on tethering Android to PC/MAC/Linux but I am having trouble finding any information or apps that can do WIRED tether of ANDROID-to-ANDROID, such as a smartphone to a tablet. Anyone have any information on this?
I have the same questionnn
Other location?
If this forum does not have the answer to this question, does anyone know where else I could find this information? I have done numerous Google searches and can't find anything.
Why not bluetooth tether?
Wireless tethering is the only option currently available for phone to tablet tethering. Either in the form of Bluetooth or WiFi.

Have tried but unable to get both devices to connect. They see each other but can not connect. I must be doing something wrong!
I just came here to start a new thread on "wireless tethering" between 2 Android phones. Is it possible? I can't find any info on it. I have a Captivate with an Unlimited Dataplan and a Captivate without a Dataplan. The one WITHOUT the Dataplan is on AT&T's $50 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web Plan. The Talk and Text work just fine. I was wanting to use my Rooted Captivated with the Unlimited Dataplan to broadcast my internet over to the other phone when nearby. We don't have Wifi at home. I use the Wireless Tether apk all the time for a laptop, but for some reason the other phone can't see the signal. Any help would be appreciated!
My internet is going to be down for a while and I wanted to tether it to my ipad. It's a unlocked at&t s4 with t mobile baseband to get LTE. Im currently using WICKED t mobile rom. I'm using the $30 t mobile prepaid for 5gb of LTE.
I tried all the wifi apps (foxfi, vpn shield, etc.) And tried a modded tether.apk file in the system app folder. None of it work. When I try to enable the hotspot, it said I needed to upgrade my plan to tether.
The wifi apps enable the hotspot, but when I connect with my ipad, a tmobile log in page pops up.
are there any works around?
I got to have free WiFi.

I swear if FoxFi doesn't work I'll send it back.
Looks like Foxfi doesn't work on tmobile or Sprint Note 4 yet. They can use Bluetooth or usb but no wifi tether. Give Foxfi a few weeks and they should have it fixed.
I'm on AT&T and can't use the mobile hotspot, only physical tether & Bluetooth. I couldn't use the Foxfi mobile hotspot on my S3 either so I'm not expecting Foxfi will come up with a solution to make it work considering how popular the S3 was and the amount of time they had to correct the problem. I think AT&T is blocking the mobile hotspot option. I couldn't even download Foxfi from the Play Store as AT&T was blocking it.
I'm on Verizon and yes it works....
Im on verizon and its working for me
FoxFi stopped working on my Note 4 today. Anyone else have this issue? It loads, wifi is available but nothing connects.
can anyone get fox fi to work so that when ever the screen shuts off you don't need to enter a password while its running? I got it to work but everytime i shut fox fi down and start it up again. I have to go thru the same process of clearing credentials etc, for it to work without entering passcode after the screen dims. On my s4 i would do the process once, and no matter how many times i shut the app down and started it, i was good to go and never had to go thru the clear credentials process again.
Has anyone managed to make a WiFi hotspot work on carriers/plans blocking it like the old Verizon unlimited data plan? I remember reading for the nexus 6 that if you pop the sim card out, enable the hotspot, then pop it in it will work. Has anyone found anything like that? I'd really like a phone with a keyboard but I won't give up the hotspot function.
Can someone chime in if the wifi hotspot works with the above combination?
Thanks.
