Hi I need help, I bought this device yesterday ithought it was pie already. cuz I did research before buying that its receiving pie update already, but after buying this 1 it turned out to be android ore and I try looking for update through hicare, settings and even hisuite but it all says the same, my device is up to date. I live in UAE btw. I really regret buying this device after knowing that Huawei is not giving bootloader unlock. this is my first Huawei phone and its really disappointing. I used to have Samsung and oppo only and they are really good , I can flash many roms and root. but this 1 is not so good. since when did Huawei thinkg themselves as iPhone ? maybe when u already fix ur devices heating issue and battery drain u can think about that. disappointing device srsly.

Ok so your saying that U.S.A. will definitely have the update even though Huawei says that they do not support in the USA for this phone? I need to be sure because I have already decided what my replacement is if I can't upgrade this and will be returning in a couple of days.
Unread count icon badge is not showing anymore in my mate 8 64 GB
Any help how to make the unread notification badge work again on my mate 8 using stock room
Thanks

I'm not trying to be an a** about this, but, I'd really like someone to answer this question.
What difference, in "real world use" does it matter if you have 6.0 or 7.0?
I ran my mate2, on 4.3 for well over a year before they released the 5.x update, and, had they not given an easy way back, I probably
would have stayed on it. It was just THAT stable. Huawei's 5.x was very stable on my Mate2, and I kept it 100% stock, until September
when I upgraded to the Mate8. 6.x on my version of the mate8, is just flat out stable (Nova Launcher Prime). I'm not a gamer, but I
do a ton of phone (2000 minutes/month), lots of web based work related things, streaming, Mp3's, email, text, photos (Camera FV-5).
I use to be a flash-a-holic back in my PDA phone days, but, phones to me, are "tools". I just pick them up and use them. The version
of software isn't important as is stability. As long as my apps are supported, the version to me, personally, makes no difference.
Don't get me wrong...you guys that flash, tweak, and run the bleeding edge stuff, eventually makes it better for everyone, but, I just
can't wrap my head around being pissed off if a phone, 6-12 months old, as long as it works as built won't get a newer version of
Android. I can see minor builds, patches, but going from say a 5.0 to 6.0 or 6.0 to 7.0 is a "major" update and perhaps the hardware,
as built by a vendor won't support it, but if your phone works, what's the big deal?
Maybe I've been out of the flashing all the time thing to figure it out.

Does anyone know when the Android update for the Huawei Mate 8 in America will come or is there a way to update the OS through flashing since update isn't supported in America. Thank you.
The last OTA update on L29, if I remember correctly, was B180. The B320 was done via the dload method. I suppose you could use the same even if Huawei do not push a Nugat OTA update in America. But as pointed out, do wait for the official as the current beta is buggy.
So i am now starting to get extremely frustrated with Huaweis support teams and the lack of information on here. I have been waiting for a nougat update since the betas last December came out and still nothing. I watch every device model of the mate8 get this update except the model i have listed in the title. Even the L09C636... so where the update for the dual sim L29? and why are there basically no useful threads for it?
I have tried unlocking the bootloader to install the last beta build i have downloaded because it wont install with the official update app. The emui site that is listed all over the mate8 forum keeps telling me that i have not been signed into my huawei ID for more then 14 days when in reality, it has been for almost 2 months now. Im tired of waiting and once again huaweis support is useless in this respect even though they have a whole official page dedicated to unlocking the bootloader.
So I am here with a last ditch effort to finally enjoy this phone. I really want to keep it becasue its had the best battery life on any phone ive tested of late, and its super fast and snappy. Im just picky on software updates becasue like most of you. I like to be as up to date as possible.
Please if you have any info or sites that can help me out with this issue put something in the comments, it would be greatly appreciated.
also im in canada if that has anything to do with my problems, because this is the Asian model of the device.
Same problem. Always waiting for Nougat...

It wasn't working perfectly at all, I only just installed the nougat update yesterday by the Huawei firmware finder app and proxy. The page for the official firmware thread on here hasn't been updated yet to show the new b521 build, it's still on the b321 and below with dead links.
But I digress I found what I was looking for finally even if jumping through hoops to get it and being the last device model to do so.
I'm just happy to finally be running nougat

Yeah C636 is lagging behind big time all the time.
Hi there
It's so outrageous that we don't have Nougat for C636.
Someone should post a message in twitter or social media on Huawei's pages... Maybe the Singapore one as the C636 is the Asian model.
Though there are a couple of Nougat betas... We still don't have a stable version and we are way past Q1 2017 which was when Huawei said the Mate 8 would be updated...

I'm still on NXT L29C636B193...
I haven't done anything to it manually...
I've been worried there was chance I may break something... I've heard someone with L29 C636 upgrade manually to Nougat and then do a factory reset only to break it... And then be forced to root it... I want to continue using banking apps so I haven't risked it yet....
Hopefully I'll be updated via OTA to Nougat... Since I'm becoming a little restless...
Also have you manually updated at all? I've been on B193 since day one with no updates...
U can update your phone by firmware finder app ...

lucky you!
yes i updated manually from B180 to B320 and B320 to B560 and just now i'm updating from B560 to B580 by using system update (its my first time!!!) in this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/nxt-l29c185b580-frimware-t3595441
also before mate 8, i had sony and samsungs phone and updated manually a lot
but yes! its so risky.
I just upgraded via firmware finder to l29c636b585. Went smoothly.
Hello everyone, i was wondering why my Nova Plus didn't get so far the update for EMUI 5.0. I saw in many other posts that other users received Nougat since Q1 2017, OTA. Since the phone doesn't seems to be widespread, i couldn't find info from other possessors about their firmwares anywhere on the net.. so here i am asking .
My phone is stock, never rooted nor unlocked, and i didn't found any recovery/ROM compatible with it here on XDA.. not to mention the warranty, which i wouldn't void until some cool Oreo firmware comes out (i wonder if it will ever happen..why such a great device comes with such few custom firmwares? ).
I even tried via HiSuite, but no updates at all. Should I try with a factory reset, or should I simply wait for an incoming OTA?
I apologize for the repeatitive thread, but you guys are great and I'm sure you'll have some good advices
Thank you
Gert
Solved through firmware finder app on the play store, updated via proxy.
So I am still waiting for my nougat OTA update and was wondering how I could get it. The strange thing is that I got an update a few weeks ago which gave me the April security patch. But nougat and emui 5 is no where to be seen. Please send help

Hello dude,
i searched using FF for updates for your firmware and seems that aren't let you upgrade to emui 5...
So after a year since first upgrades to android 7 arrived, it's quite hard to believe that it will come in next times for you man...
Now you can wait and pray, or try to REBRAND changing your CUST ( C16 ) to another one, like C432 for europe or
C636 for asia and so on... you can find all files you need and serch for a OEMinfo.img+custom.bin closest to the place you live.
( example: i have VNS-L31C02B390 live in europe, will rebrand to C432 ).
Here on XDA you will find some guide / tools that will help you doing this, just use search and READ carefully...
Good luck :fingers-crossed:
Regards

If im not mistaken vns-l31c16 is the South African variant which mtn sells. I got mine through mtn and it seems like they aren't gonna push the nougat firmware out, instead they keep updating marshmallow with the latest security patches.
You best chance is to rebrand to European firmware (c432) and update to nougat
Hi i need your help to downgrade my phone Nova 3i which is currently on the latest firmware 9.1.0.227. i did not understand how the firmware naming, upgrade and downgrade works on huawei. Im a long time samsung and xiaomi user. Kinda bit lost and confused here on huawei system. So i downloaded Huawei firmware finder to check the right firmware for my device since there is many varient and model number for nova 3i such as Ine-LX1, LX2, LX2c, LX2r and LX22r. Then i found the correct firmware that i want to downgrade to(picture attach) which is oreo version. Since the firmware is approve for installation, can i dowgrade it using erecovery or can i just download the firmware and put it under dload folder and downgrade? Just like that? Currently my bootloader is still locked. Need help to clear the thoughts here. I dont like pie since its killing apps in the background randomly. Push notification does not work correctly. Even though i tried many thing explained under dontkillmyapp website. Apps still killed in the background especialy chrome browser. I dont know how and where to troubleshoot it. Was it battery optimisation issue, pie doze aggression or the ram management issue on pie or this phone? That is why i took a courage to just downgrade it to oreo and see how it goes there. If the problem still exist there, then its true that Smartphones are turning back into dumbphones. Its better on MM or N version of samsung. No push notification issues and killing apps in background randomly. By the way, I have never been using oreo before on this phone. Bought it from my uncle and it was already on android pie. Your help is really appreciated. Thanks
I just wanna downgrade to fix an imei issue
