HP iPAQ 21x kitchen for download? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi all! I own an pretty old pocket pc, an HP iPAQ 216, and i'm trying to do something useful with this device.
I've read over some threads and Brighthand forums, but every available file is missing thanks to the Rapidshare site being down.
I'll appreciate if anyone have a mirror to any kitchen which works with this particular device, because i've tried using anothers but they simply didn't work.
I know this is a pretty difficult request, but I would be amazed if someone can share those files with me.
I still think that this device has some pottential to work with.

Hello.
I know this is a late response, but maybe someone else will need it. I have rarely visited the XDA Developers forum lately. I did upload files that a colleague asked. The LunaticFiles account will be active for 40 days. Contents of the upload:
ipaq214\WM6.1:
HOWTO.txt
HPImage_6.1_ENG.rar
ipaq214_wm61ENG_21056.zip

…
ipaq214\WM6.5:
WM6.5_clean_DX
hp214_wm65_21884.zip
kitchen_wm6.5.1-23016_hp21x_rel4.rar

Of course, you must add before the above address: https:// -The administrator refused me to insert a full link.
Good luck.

Hey I have an ipaq 214, the stock wm6 rom sucks and so does wm6.5, the wm6.1 is in general the very best windows mobile ever made, I have always wanted that, I hope it's in the rar. The file host you used is like the worst ever, they wouldn't even let me download without paying because I'm not in Poland, but I got around that by using a VPN extension and changing to a polish IP and now I'm downloading at amazing polish internet speed of 300kb/s (which is very bad today even for a free file host). Still thanks for sharing the file, it just finished and it does have wm6.1 folder. Maybe this will finally make my ipaq useful, if not then it's just poorly written drivers by hp and I will just stick with the hx4700 which feels more premium, if it only had a dpad...

Hi, i just buy a old HP ipaq214, possible to have a valid link for the ROM ?
Thanks for help.

I still need this lol

Copying Rom & Reloading onto another device

Hi,
I am currently looking into purchasing 750 XDAIIi Devices from o2. (after o2 release the new firmware version hopefully next week to solve the battery problem and release the blackberry client)
However, I will need to configure each device with a set of custom in house applications, and set it up in a certain way.
The easiest way i can think to do this is to get 1 device how i want all of them, then to take a copy of the rom, and to copy that rom to all the other devices.
What utilitys are available to do this? Ive so far found tools to copy the rom from the device, however im stumpted on how to re-flash the rom with the copied version.
any help/sugestions etc greatly welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Noodle.

What you need is SPB Clone great little app but expensive for my uses with you buying so many I guess it would prove affordable
http://microsoft.handango.com/Platf...ype=2&productId=150895&sectionId=0&catalog=1&
More info at the link above or
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/?en
Ah great info there, thanks.
However it says its compatible with the XDA, XDAII and XDAIIs, not the XDAIIi.
Its exactly what im looking for though

I'm sure you will find it does the XDA IIi drop SPB a mail and I guess they will confirm that!
The demo works on the XDAIIi so i think its time to spend some mulleh
This could save me a long long time

Thats good news please tell us all how you found the app a nice little review would be good!
Sure.
I think firstly i will explain the situation i have, then it might make things clearer.
I could possibly have 750 XDAIIi devices, and 750 Bluetooth printers within the next 2-3 months.
This is to be used for a mobile, in house application. I am currently looking for a quick, and easy method to setup all of the devices.
I currently have a mangement solution, using Mobi Control. Its a VERY VERY good piece of software, and the new version is out next week which will offer some SERIOUSLY good features such as device lock down etc.
The issue i have is that the XDAIIi will require a certain config before I install the Mobi Control Client. (certain bluetooth settings and application settings)
So, for my base device, i have installed the Mobi Control client (removed from cradle before it is named by the mobi control server) , and also setup the relavent bluetooth settings etc. I have also tweeked some device settings to help out the battery life, and also changed things like the mappings of the buttons.
Then i used the SPB clone tool. I installed it onto the device and ran it. The wizard is easy, it has about 3 steps. The first step is to choose where you would like to save to. I chose the SD card, however you can also use ro storage.
Then, you can choose to password encrypt your device, and also choose if you want to copy the storage area of the device. Then, is builds your image.
The image takes about 5 mins to build to the SD card. and its done.
Now all you need to do is to drop the SD card into another device, it auto runs the wizard and will build the device EXACTLY the same as the master device. It will prompt you for the current time, as the time of the master device is also in the image.
This is a great solution for me, because all i need to do with each new device, is drop it into a cradle for 2 mins at most. The mobi control server auto names the device with my naming scheme, and then installs and configures our in house applications.
So intsead of it looking likes it going to take me about a month to build all the devices, i might be able to do them in a few days.
Thanks for the recoendation of that application

The MUST HAVE ! - Picsel Browser on HTC Devices ?

hi,
did anyone get the picsel browser to run on HTC devices ? it's the VERY best mobile html-browser i ever saw!! it's awesome !! unfortunataly it's not avaiable for all wm devices, on the webpage you can only download picsel viewer. but this one don't show web pages.
my samsung sgh-i750 comes with pcsel browser preinstalled and i tried to copy the .exe file to my hermes, but i can't start it because an error comes up: "can't initialize"
maybe the .exe file has to be modified a little bit to run on every wm device
if someone want to try this, let me know. i can send you the files...
btw: if someone dindn't see picsel browser in action, i tell you: You have to see it !!! This little aplication handles the web sites on you mobile device like your pc at home.
max
or needs a pile of dll files and reg settings too ?
yes, maybe it need some additional files. i searched the complete device for all files that could be needed by picsel browser, but all in found are some resource-files (.gif) with grafics for the UI.
maybe the aplication looks for the device ID and starts only on registered devices. in that case someone has to remove this directly from the exe-file.
max
If you can copy out the exe this means it's not part of ROM. Try using Total Commander to access your extended ROM and get the installation cab from there.
any new about the picsel browser ?
I got picsel browser on my palm device and its superb!!!! I really want to have it on my pocket pc . Its the best document / internet browser so far. (not the fastest but its eye candy)
Someone should start working on this! I really want to try out the browser.. Could it be extracted from a Treo rom?
Can someone point us in the direction of a ROM that contains it?
It'd probably need a bit of hacking to force compatibility. Perhaps!
V
this browser comes installed on the samsung world phone offered by verizon. however that particular phone runs wm2003 not wm5. if someone could dump that rom I'm sure mr vj could hack it to tell for all of us!
I'm not so sure I could, but someone could! Just point us towards a rom or a rom dump.
V
Treo has it installed too, the 750 rom has been dumped if you want to sift through it
the 750 rom.. dont u mean 700? and is it on the 700w or the 700wx or w/e sprints ver is
I dumped my i730 rom during FUT for WM5 so that superdave could create an uploadable rom. I should have it somewhere. Is anyone still interested? There are a few apps that i would want besides picsel, the remote control, and task manager/launcher.
Be VERY CAREFUL! I extracted a few picsel products including picsel browser (which I posted here & my site) and got a letter from there attorney, So I would just be careful with that one And well the laucher is so so nothing major didnt like the way it stayed at the bottom of the screen, and the remote program is something I myself havent played with yet.
~Mike
I read about that on your forum, I think it's bs. But good thing most of us got it while it was out..
BS or not, if this forum gets the same letter as Lvballer06, we'll take any infringing material down. Grab it while it's hot if it does come on!
Picsel is superb though (but with limitations). They should really make it a commercial standalone release.
V
vijay,
I have had some success in the past using dependencywalker (attached) to determine files that are used by a program. It might work for you in this case. With all of the other cool stuff that you create, I'm sure that it will come in handy again.
big
bigbawlayesyawla: many thanks for the offer; I have various dependancy walkers - that's cool.
Picsel was made to function perfectly - the limitations I referred to are in the software itself. I've taken steps to improve it, but the app is a wonderful achievement in itself. Beautiful...
V
vijay: I figured that you already had something to do dependency stuff
picsel sounds wonderful...good luck porting it to your other device.
you have written some pretty nice code yourself, so if you are impressed, that is significant!
As I said, and I can't say it enough, it's a beautiful app and wish it were a commercial app. It's also a pdf viewer, word doc viewer, excel viewer, image viewer, and other stuff.
However, it does need expanding... I'm working on some extras for it to make it hopefully a good deal more useful.
Picsel have every right to get medieval on our asses for distributing it, so I won't. But seriously, it's our loss. I'll post some screenshots some time.
Oh, it's also NOT pixel doubled on VGA devices. So you get a good hires image on a VGA Universal.

Warning and Notice of destructive file on xda ftp site (atom upload area)

This is a evil tiny program, I guess it is malware, in the form of a trojan. I downloaded it from
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Atom/Unlocker/
HTC Atom Unlocker.exe
I was and aware of all of the warning about it being a global public site, and anyone can upload to it. 1000 downloads later, all of which worked, or didnt work but never had a negative effect, I was caught feeling stupid when I seen what this little pointless program did to my computer.
Defender didn't detect it, Mcafee 8.0i enterprize (4909 dat 5100engine) didn't detect it.
When I executed this file it popped up a notepad window with
"Hello! Upon reading this message your computer is starting to shut down. Your Data Link Library is going to destroy, all your files say goddbye... Did you know that some programs are cute and stealth like this, amagin isn't it...
ARE YOU READY TO THIS DISASTER!!!
Very Importain Reason Unless Shutdown"
Mean while my computer was running with CPU 100% and the hard drive chugging away. It seems that it deleted what was in my root directory (c:\) most of the contents of c:\windows and c:\windows\system32.
Before submitting this I verified this file does what I'm explaining by duplicating it on a old beatup xp laptop I use for testing stuff. the program seems to run some command in a hidden cmd window. I was able to kinda stop the program the second time around cause I was prepared for it.
I was not sure where to post this sorry if I picked a bad place, but I feel it is importain for the whole xda community that we eradicate this file and any ones like it from the ftp site..
Only good that seemed to come from this is, I dont have time to worry about fixing the Ipaq 6515a that been driving me nuts for last 5 weeks casue I cant seem to get a radio stack to flash back to the unit, cause I get rebuild one of my systems again... anyways this site and community of modivated good thinkers has to be one of the best groups of people I've seen work together on the net... .. (everyone very helpfull as long as you not have a HP IPAQ 6515a phone needing a gsm stack flash) ..
All the information on all the other HTC phones that I have has been very accurate and plentiful! Thank you all!! (not the person who uploaded HTC Atom Unlocker.exe to the ftp site..)lol
Mb
Thanks for info.
I confirm this. very nasty little proggie.
I did a look inside this file, it said
Demo Version. This application created with Unregistered version of Quick Batch File Compiler. Visit http://www.abyssmedia.com for more info.
So, I guess itself is just a nasty batch file. Can't get details of the code though.
I've renamed the file with a .DANGER.DONOTUSE at the end.

Web Server on Wizzard ?

Hello fellow users
Couple of days ago i bought my first Wizard and i had no idea what to do with it to make it work as a charm. Little bit google, and here i am in this lovely forum. I learned a lot from here and where comes the time i hope i will be able to help someone else as well as you guys helped me.
Right now i am in a bit of challenge. I am trying to install web server, which supports PHP and MySQL, on my wizard and so far i found nothing.
I tried the forum first, then i tried google ... stil, nothing.
So please, can you help a bit over here.
The reason i need this is because i am a PHP developer and i travel between two major locations. I can't always bring my notebook with me so i decided to buy a wizard to help me with this. So it's in major importance to me to make the wizard act like a server, localhost only is well enough for me.
Also i am not only familiar with linux, i prefer it but i saw thousands of complaining posts about linux on mobile devices, so i guess i'll just stick with Windows Mobile for now.
Currently, my Qtek 9100 runs TNT Professional, but i am ok with changing it.
Please, give me a hint or something how to run a webserver on my wizard.
Thanks in advance to all.

New Connection Setup 2.7 works on Wizard

Hi All,
I have been making use of this forum for over 1 year, learned a lot, and taken a lot out of it, and have even done some cooking myself (its been fun).
Thought I would give a little something back.
See my post under Networking here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543999
Apparently the newer Connection Setup 2.7 works on the Wizard. There is an OEM Pack there for whoever needs it for their own cooking.
Also, I found somewhere else on another forum (which I have not been able to relocate) a version of the provision.zip file where someone has taken the newest ConnSetup version of it (DB15.0114), taken all the operator settings and put into a format that works with the older Network Wizard (read my other post). You can just copy to Windows directory on your device. It is quite large, but you can modify it to contain just the ones you want to keep and strip the rest out to make it smaller. I have tested and it works (both Rogers Canada, and Germany E-Plus).
Have fun
