Can anyone suggest me which is the best kernel keeping inview battery life. Thanks in advance.
The best kernel I've tested for me, for the oneplus 6 and 6t is Smurf kernel. The latest 56 rc15 in the test build folder is really good. Lowest frame times, it's fast and snappy and makes the fp faster due to boosting on unlock. Battery is great, with the op6 I got around 7-9 hours and with the 6t 7,5-10 sot.

Thanks, will give it a try.
+1 for Smurf Kernel. It's seriously the best kernel for any phone I've used!
have been saying this on the second day it came out!!
There is no "best", just what works best for you and your particular needs.
For me, RenderZenith has been the best.

Same for me. I keep going back to RZ.
Tried both , but Smurf seemed better.

I was wondering which rom has the best battery life. can anyone suggest to me a rom that has a good battery life? I'm still new to this so yeah I appreciate the help thanks!
CM13 is the best without tinkering with settings BUT it's up to you what you choose
Hydrogen OS, has the best battery performance that I seen until now. Great control over apps consumption and customisable.
I tired both cm13 and hydrogen apart from the stock oxygen os but I would suggest you to try Exodus 6.0 and I assure you'll never look back. have a good day.
Oxygen has best battery life
Oxygen and hydrogen right now.

Kingmercian (H2OS) gets me battery life that rivals what I had with SkyDragon (OOS) with the Boeffla Kernel. I haven't seen any need to try flashing any CM13 ROMs while I'm using Kingmercian as my daily driver.

Battery life depends on uses, it always different for different people. One rom can give 6hrs sot to someone and same rom can give other only 4 hrs.
So try various ROMs and tweaks for yourself and decide.
Btw i am on stock oos and i am quite happy with battery as i m getting approx. 6.5 hrs sot.
I'm using this one NXROM at the moment and I'm loving it. Smooth and great battery, but like @sushant6786 said. It all depends on apps you use, how you use your phone. What's great for me might be woirthless for you.
The best you can do is try different roms and feel for yourself. Try some that people recommend to you and make up your own mind
Good luck in your search for a rom that suits your need

I've done around 4 hours of SOT, but I haven't pushed it to see how much I could get. Still had juice left when I put it back in the charger.

NXROM is based on cm13 .. I have tested it and the battery is good but i had commom problems like in cm builds like wifi problems.
I have tested almost all the roms for our 1+2 and i can say that the best in battery with the same use are: h2os from kingmercians + skydragon v3.3 oxygen based (with boeffla kernel is better) and exodus rom. But where i got more sot was in h2os (5h30) with wifi always on and no powernap, amplify or grenify.

I can vouch for Kingmercian's H2OS as well, it's the definitely the clear winner (based on my daily usage). I ran Seraph's CM13 for a while but dropped it due to its heavy drain. As for LP-based ROMs, both OxySlim and Skydragon performed very well for me, at least when compared to stock.

Stock.
I won't use anything Blu Spark. His kernel boosted performance on Nougat but Oreo is already faster and smoother than Nougat natively. I prefer Flash which is rock solid stable and has a more responsive developer and a far more civil thread. If it came down to using Blu Spark or just throwing away the phone I would throw away the phone.

on stock i get around 2 days battery life with about 10 hours + SOT.
On Elemental after a fair bit of tweaking i get a little less, 1.8 days battery life and between 8 and 9 hours SOT, so both good kernels for stamina and performance.
I use elemental simply for the audio boost as i have a problem with my earpiece.
All of the above is subjective though and each and every user is going to have a varying experience based on what they have in their phone, their charging habits and what they use their phone for.
Personally i keep my phone extremely light, I don't have any apps with ad's i don't have any live widgets, apps like facebook, skype, viber, snapchat, so that makes a big difference.

What do you mean battery backup? Battery life varies depending the settings used and the ROM you are running. Flash is great at going into deep sleep on CrDroid, Phoenix, AOKP and DU. I don't run OOS but people who use Flash on it say it runs well. One Plus hires the software engineers in China who aren't talented enough to work for OPPO or Huawei. I prefer custom ROMs on this phone. OOS is hard to stomach if you are fond of stock Android.
There isn't any "best" kernel and there won't ever be one. I would say every kernel which is provided here justifies its existence. Flash them and try it out.

On low usage I got 5 days idle with 2h screen on time and stil had 50% left !

Pretty much my experience with Franco kernel. There were a few buggy versions on Oreo builds, but everything is back to Nougat level now (battery, performance and stability).
blu_spark kernel is on the high value, bug free, stable, packed with useful features.
We get 300Mhz idle freqs, we get no notification delay and no connection drops for web apps, did I mention fastlane on blu_active governor?
Full features list is in the OP.
Performance is wild, battery runtime goes beyond anything else out there.
Better to throw it away on a flash indeed.
blu gets a lot of badmouthing from one particular corner but kernel and TWRP releases speak for themselves.?
So, using blu_spark, why use anything else? (rhethorical question obviously)
WOW, and star wars enabling possible by editing cust_flag value on the fly, just remembered from my SS.

As you all know the final version of Android 9.0 (PR) was recently ported to Xiaomi Mi A1 by taking advantage of Project Treble. Although there are more than one Kernels out there with Treble support, there is no thread to actually compare them. So if you have tried this port, please write down your experience with the Kernel you used.
Iam using the Custom Rom Treble non OC Kernel from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/development/kernel-extreme-kernel-1-0-mi-a1-t3769702
With that i get the most Battery life out. About 2 Day´s without charging and mostly reading News, Texting with Whats App, and Listening much Music.
So not much intensive and no Gaming.
Last Charge was before 16 hours and 5 Days are left, because i do nothing with the Device =P

Android Pie and this why he ask what Kernel are good for this one and you only can use Pie with Treble .
But back to SOT it is now 54min. Last charge was 41 hours ago and i have left about 1 Day and 17 hours :fingers-crossed:
So next charge maybe at least 20% in the next evening.
My personal best from now on is eXtreme! Been using Moun on Oreo and on Pie, after using eXtreme for few days, difference was quite noticeable so imho eXtreme is the best kernel for balanced/battery life when tuned properly!

Oh, I'm currently on 8.1 Liquid Remix ROM and honestly don't remember what exactly I tweaked. I've used Kernel Adiutor, changed few thing regarding CPU, disabled Fsync, enabled one CPU when screen is off, Schedule workqueues on awake CPUs, that much I can remember. I am not heavy user, just listening music on Youtube Vanced app, using social media apps, browsing the web with Brave etc... Getting 2 days without charge with 5-6hrs of sot and about 10% battery left.
Right now I didn't change anything on Liquid Remix and battery life is still amazing compared to Moun or Mint kernels. eXtreme just gives great results without tweaking anything

I tried AKT on Classic rom with BTTF kernel on Ls997 and had no luck. Not sure if it was rom or kernel or what. Seemed to cut battery time in half instead of doubling. AKT would be sweet if I could get it to work right. Kernel already has no touchboost imbedded I guess btw.

Go figure...the first selection lol. I will test over a few days and see what comes about and then Ill post results.
Just a quick update so far... I am currently in midst of testing the Xana Extreme again because on my cell I was experiencing no lag or if any very slim and wanted to real test as I got it working properly via app version. The Zanah didnt seem to cause any issues as it also did increase a few hours of battery life. So far however with the Xana extreme I am currently on 26 hours since full charge and no plug since at 56% battery left. I know it is about SOT, but total life is just as important. No restarts as that kills the test. Im happy and impressed so far. Will post more after battery nears death
Here of some pics of current test so far...

Here is the final result...even though not showing much as for screen as I did not use too much, but overall battery is epyk . Still showed main results luckily after a reboot because it died before I could get a "before death screenshot".

Here is a shot of my initial rundown of a new 4100 mAh Li polymer battery that's the same size as the stock one (mentioned in the Accessories section and the V20 Subreddit), getting past 10 hours of screen-on time. You can ignore the averages section of the screenshot as it's the first run.
Setup: LS997, ClassicROM ZV7 | mk2000 BTTF kernel | AKT 1.6, OnePlus3/SD820, Project Zhana Battery profile
I also turn on aggressive doze when idling overnight using Naptime, dim the display down after sunset using CF.lumen, and auto-brightness is on.
So I decided to switch up atm because I wanted my GPU to not be bogged down at all. I checked the Xana battery in the balanced area and was fairly impressed. For absolute no bog down and fully clocked GPU/CPU for full performance and good battery I recommend this. Sure the results seem less, but my battery has also had hundreds of restarts and charges since I got it and who knows how many before hand. A brand new would show better. I also have a dynamic wallpaper and am running Dolby and Viper as well. Same kernel. Same rom. Same phone.
Also the pic shows 15% because phone died before I could get proper screenshot, the 95% is the key and results are still accurate.
This is my final post as to testing for this thread.

Mysticblaze,
I wanted to bring the conversation from "[Discussion] Improving efficiency and battery life of the V20." back to here since we started to get into some talk about this AKT.
There, you said, "I can get around 10hrs sot (depending) using Xana extreme battery. That's the one I'm currently on.
Have a 4200 mAh battery (reg size)"
1st - what ROM and kernel are you using with that?
2nd - is the battery 4200 or 3200 (mine's a 3200)?
3rd - any other settings I need to know about to pull 10 hours SOT?
Thank you so much!

Yes, 4200. It's a Shemnz. Got from eBay. Rom is Classic for ls997. Kernel is latest 7.0 mk2000. Hard to say on other settings. My test tho was an up to.
I left screen always on with a live wallpaper running with a covered proximity sensor for lowest Auto. Got about 10 and a half.
Anyone running this on your v20. Thinking about using it , would love to hear your opinion and thoughts.

It has its ups and downs. Apk is best imo. Not have as many errors. The news build has some bugs. AKT might still hold the crown. My supposed best screen on time is still very sceptical. My average is around 5-6 with average use with either or AKT/FDE. All these mods and yet still hard to choose what is really the best. I have a lot of stuff going tho, but my screen time should still be way better with these mods. I even have the 4200 mAh and still get normal times. Don't help that Kernel wakelocks suck, even with applied kernel Wakelock blocking.
