Hello Devs,
I have a Nokia 6.1 Plus(2018) device. Unfortunately, the phone fell a few stories down and it's screen has been literally destroyed.
I want to take a backup of the data on my device, which is very important to me. I want to try using VYSOR-Android Control on PC, but it requires installing the app on my phone, which I can't possibly do with a destroyed screen.
I need help on installing the application using adb on my phone, from recovery or fastboot, or maybe literally anyhow:silly:
Please help me out here....... I'll be really thankful to you.

so here is a little background:
i rooted my phone, unlocked it, etc. then i wanted to try a new rom.
so i went to TWRP recovery and i formatted the whole phone. like literally wiped everything off it.
with some tinkering i was finally able to use the root toolkit to get a rom back on my phone so that i could boot it up.
but now it wont recognize my ABD drivers, or it does.... it shows up at NEXUS4 on my computer.
however i cant add anything to my phone via my computer. or take any of the pictures off of it.
it wont let me mount it or do anything. i am able to DL roms to my phone and do it that way.
but what i would like to be able to do is get it back to the normal. were i can add stuff to it via my computer.
sure there are work arounds like dropbox and other file cloud services. but still.... it bugs me
PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
Are you trying to add/remove files using ADB or MTP?
so this is weird..... i just tried it to take a screenshot and show u..... but it seems like it is working now.... i dont know how to explain this other than flashing a newer bettter rom must have fixed it.... INTERESTING thanks for the help anyways
Glad things worked out for you
Hi folks,
Here's the situation: I have an HTC Sensation that has just died. I'm 6 months from an upgrade. I have an old G1 with a faulty hardware keyboard which I would love to use to tide me over instead of a 6 year old feature phone. Does anyone know of a way to root and update this device to a new ROM without using the hardware keyboard at any stage? I'm trying to recover using Windows 8 or Ubuntu Linux.
I've looked through the old guides on XDA but so far they all require the hardware keyboard to be used at some stage or link to old drivers. Has anyone got any new advice?
I know that £50 might get me a second-hand Desire but I'd love to be able to make use old this old handset that's been sitting in my drawer for four year and gave me a lot of pleasure in it's day.
Some of the one click root apps are supposed to work, never used so can't be sure which ones but I'm sure a simple search will find this
Afterwards you will need to flash a custom recovery, I believe this could be done with dd commands or adb once device is rooted.
Now once rooted and have a recovery be sure to make a nandroid backup right away!
Once this is done, flash a new radio and SPL, .2005 or .2003 as these have fastboot support but less ram (read up for further explanations)
Then boot back to recovery and flash a ROM that supports your SPL
You should be able to bypass using the keyboard through this whole process

Hi folks,
yesterday my Nexus 4 hit the ground and the front glass just bursted. Touch is not working anymore and the screen is locked (only slide to unlock, no pin or gesture). I can connect it to my PC and can access the internal storage, so backing up images, music, etc. is not a problem.
I have some apps installed of which I want to transfer the app data to my new phone. Debugging is enabled so I thought, well that'll be easy just run adb backup. Thought so... As adb backup requires a user action when it comes to entering the password I'm doomed
Does anybody has an idea or experienced the same problem on how I can get adb backup to work without being able to use the touch screen?
I'm not limited to adb backup but as my phone is not rooted I assume there are not a lot possibilities besides.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Do you have a custom recovery? Try flashing a non-touch one. Adb should work from within it.

As I wrote, my phone is NOT rooted nor unlocked, so no custom recovery. Or do I get something wrong there?

Then you'll lose your app data.

Your outta luck it seems then... If its that important to you you could buy a replacement screen for the n4... Get your data and sell it and get the money you spent in the screen back.

If the apps that u need data are on sdcard(their datas)then u just do adb pull /sdcard c:\sdbackup with phone on.
if not then:
@calex3141 :
1ST: IM NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE / FAIL WHILE DOING THIS METHOD, I TESTED ON MY FRIEND´S N4 BUT I CANT GUARANTEE THAT WILL WORK ON EVERY NEXUS (INCLUDING YOURS), USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
2ND: DO NOT CRY IF U CANT GET BACK THE FILES IF SOMETHING FAIL. YOU COULD JUST BUY SCREEN REPLACEMENT OR GET A JTAG DUMP
3RD: do carefuly. if you are nervous calm down b4 doing this. one single command and u can format the nand so be careful.
4TH: I hope it Works for u .
5TH: u need to have adb seted up and also drivers. if you dont know how, search google(for drivers).
for adb just install minimal adb and fastboot
6TH: its recomended to test to see if cygwin(u will know what it is in a moment) is working (do some commands on it, like cd .. (to go back)or ls (list files) )
7TH: if u have any errors contact me asap and i will try to help you
LETS GO:
unlock the bootloader: (type in cmd prompt, fastboot oem unlock, and follow instructions on phone)(DO THE MANUAL WAY, DO NOT USE TOOLKITS, KEEP READING TO KNOW WHY)(it will say that u will loose files, but it actualy dosent format, it just change the 1st´s block of userdata partition to make it unmountable normally, thats why toolkits do fastboot format userdata after unlock.and tutorials say to format data in STOCk recovery, since custom ones dosent format, just delete everything except sdcard)
(do not format anything, even on stock recovery)
flash multirom recovery:http://d-h.st/pzv (Thanks@tassadar for his great work)(the only that i use, so i cant tell others)
then do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994705
(instead of doing it with phone on, just do on recovery, adb is enabled on it)
Hey, I'm really new to this stuff. So I was trying to root my phone but then I forgot to backup my files after flashing TWRP via Odin (I have really important and precious stuff in my phone) so I tried rebooting so I can make the backup but my phone isn't able to even access the home screen because of the bootloop. I'm really going to need my phone tomorrow so I'm not feeling that good right now, I'm feeling a bit anguished and regretful for even doing this. I don't mind uninstalling TWRP to fix this. Do I have to replace my official Oreo OS with a non official customized one? Because I've heard that customized OS tends to be slower (I'm really new to this so i don't know that much stuff) Please help me, I'm legit panicking. I just want to be able to reach my home screen without wiping, deleting or formatting data I don't want to lose all my stuff on my phone.
Thank you to whoever reads this and helps me
Hi,
Can you boot TWRP recovery? If yes, then in all probability you should be able to access data and copy that over to PC.
My phone is root with magisk and TWRP. Some other downloads from the repositories within Magisk but I don't think that's relevant. Anyways, around 9:10 pm (EDST) on Sunday the 15th I got a notification that the latest version of magisk was available and ready for download. I downloaded and installed. It booted to fastboot with the typical menu to start, restart bootloader, turn off, or boot into recovery. I thought this was weird as it has never happened before and the phone has been loaded with both since at least July. At first I thought it was just a one off and started the phone. It came back to Fastboot mode and will not let me do anything besides restart and once it does that it's back in fastboot mode. ADB is not recognizing and like I said I cant get any farther than the phone booting into fastboot mode. I'm a full time student with no money for another phone and I was dumb enough to do all this on my daily driver. I am not well versed in phone modding, just enough to be dangerous. Is there any recourse or action I can take to get it back to working order or am I just screwed? Any suggestions welcome as long as they are productive. Thanks
I have the same exact problem going on with my phone. I'm in the process of trying to unbrick it as we speak. If I see any success, I'll be sure to share what I did to remedy the issue.
PS - my problem might be slightly different, as initially I could get to TWRP recovery but I made the mistake of wiping the entire device, which seemingly included all partitions, OS and all. So now I don't even have TWRP and can only get to the fastboot screen. When I try to boot the TWRP.img I get an error... I'm rather new to dealing with a bricked device so this is definitely a learning process
You will lose your data, but this guide should get you both up and running.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/tool-6t-msmdownloadtool-v4-0-oos-9-0-5-t3867448
Yeah, you guys shouldnt be too scared about your phone being bricked but data loss could be an issue. MSMDownloadTool will almost always save your phone and if you are able to boot into fastboot you could just flash a factory image straight from the OnePlus website. If you want to recover files on the phone maybe try booting a twrp image in adb and if the encryption key is still intact you may be able to USB file transfer the data off of the phone.
Does the msm download tool work on Linux or does it require Windows? I downloaded it on a Windows laptop but it was one of the newer laptops that had zero internal storage and instead uses OneDrive in lieu of, so I downloaded the tool to a thumb drive but Windows wouldn't open the .rar file. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Is it allowing you to boot to recovery from fastboot?
If not you will have to use MSMDownloadTool and lose all data unfortunately
I would recommend using Syncthing for the future. It atomatically backs up your data to a local PC.

Try flashing the Magisk uninstaller ZIP, boot the device and hope it boots, then reinstall Magisk using the ZIP in TWRP.
I'm not at all worried about losing my data. I do have a relatively recent backup on my computer but I really don't care whether or not I need to start from scratch, however I'm still wondering if I'm able to use the MSMdownloadtool on a Linux machine or not. I was led to believe that it needed to be run on a Windows machine but for some reason I wasn't able to run the program on an HP laptop running Windows 10. Not sure whether it's relevant or not but as I mentioned above in a previous post, the device has no internal storage so I saved the program to a thumb drive and when trying to open it windows asked me what program it wanted me to open it with and/or whether I wanted to search the software / application store for a program with which to run it, leaving me to believe that it may not be something that I can run on a Windows operating system after all. Or, is it just the fact that I save it to a thumb drive? I can try to get another windows PC that may have the space internally or if it will run on my Linux PC that would be ideal. I'm just sick of using this old Motorola Droid Turbo POS LOL.
OP - how are you fairing with your issue?
Thanks in advance everybody for your help, I promise to pay it forward if and when anybody else is stuck in a similar pickle where I might be able to offer any advice to remedy their situation.
PS I Love syncthing but ironically stopped using it regularly some time prior to the **** hitting the fan
Problem fixed, thanks for those of you who chimed in!

Used fastboot flash all partitions and got it going again currently on android 10 running Syberia Rom. Turns out that it was flashable even though I wasn't getting any response from the computer as far as identifying the phone. Freaked out after a few days with no responses and purchased the 7 pro ^_^. At present I'm messing with that. Looking at RomAur-V2.0 to upgrade this the 7P to 10 since, for some reason, my international hasn't received the OTA.

Just use Oxygen Updater app on the Play Store to update your OnePlus 7 Pro to Android 10.

Yup, that's why I always keep a magisk uninstaller zip on my sdcard!
