I bought a Redmi note 7 two days back Everything works fine .Rear cam is superb . It's comparable to my brother s Poco F1. Front camera is average .
Anyway I set up the face id and it's getting unlocked by my brother's face .We are not identical twins .This is a serious issue .Even my previous phone has had a secure face id
Are there anyone facing the same issue ?
Is there a solution for that ?

Yes this happens a lot. Even my A2 does the same thing. I guess our phones do not have real face detection like more expensive phones does with 3D sensing, etc. You will have to use fingerprint unlock and disable face detection.

Yes it only takes a picture .It should take some time to capture details .I was previously using a y9 (2018 ) . It's below note 7 s price range .It work s fine with face id .I think xiomi can develop there face id algorithm . It was bit a downfall for me as i was used to use face id earlier .

hi
i recently bought android phone from china . its Mtk6577 .. i like the idea the phone is working with 2 Sim and smooth
all well with the mobile except one thing its annoying me which is the rear camera . its not close to my S2 or nexus camera the quality is not good and not that bad .
i opened the device and i pulled out the camera and i match it to HTC cameras and i found its similar to HTC one x camera in size and flat cable pins
so if i bought HTC camera and replace it with the old one and find the driver of HTC one x from stock or custom rom . could work ?
or its need more than that ?
thank you in advance
I would also like to know this.

I don't think it would. There are always some issues with hardware compatibility. If you could sort them out. It should work.
The thing are importent to me is:
1.faster and powerfull phone (for games, emails, whatsapp, internet, apps).
2.Amazing camera.
3.Good battery.
4.A phone that will not "stock" in the future (i can change roms and more).
5.A good screen.
You need to get booth of them
meizu 4 5.36 inch, camera 2.0MP 20.7MP ,1920x1152,3100mAh
oneplus 5.5 inch camera 5.0 MP 13.0MP 1920x1080 ,3100mAh
I prefer to the meizu 4
oneplus
Have had mine almost a month and its a really nice phone.. Have owned Samsung's.. Nexus devices... And the one plus is tops.

The battery of meizu mx 4 is not good. So I still prefer OPO.
i had the oneplus one and now i have the mx4
opo has a lot of problems ( search google ) touch screen wont work properly ,sometimes i had those ghost touches and a lot of touch issues ,microphone stopped working suddenly ...
the big problem is the support of this company ,in one word ,a big joke , just bought the mx4 with 2 years warrant in my local country, not as fast as the opo but perfect touch screen and a lot of nice features , im very pleased with it more then the opo
Hello maybe i can give some feedback, i actually used an Oneplus One for over 3 months and then switched to meizu, i didnt experience any issues with my oneplus one unit, now yellow band nothing stupid ~
i switched to the mx4 for the following reasons, for my hands the oneplus one wasnt as comfortable to hold due to how the phone is build up, the rouned design of the meizu is way better for me to hold in one hand and do something on the go ~
camera hands down i always thought the oneplus one takes descent shots untill i got my mx4..really compared to the mx4 pictures the oens of the oneplus just look washed out noisy and lack detail (they are still good but just way worse if you compare it to the mx4)
i also prefer the mx4 deisgn..performance wise they are equal..i dont see any difference even tho i score 51k in antutu while i had "only" 46k with my oneplus one, same antutu version
the only downside for me is the battery life, i get easily through the day with my mx4 but i would say i had around 20% more battery with the oneplus one
but as long i get through the day i'm fine, i would never switch my mx4 for a oneplus one.
Yeah I have an MX4 and the camera is probably the best I have ever experienced on a mobile phone and I'm just not saying that. Amazing detail in the pictures, good colors and many options to get the shot you want. Only thing I miss is image stabilization.
I consider buying the MX4. The only thing that bothers me is the software. Will there be the official CyanogenMod support? Or can we expect an upgrade of their OS to Lollipop?
What also bothers me is that there is no subforum here on XDA. Why is that? Is there really no custom software for this phone?

I don't know about Cyanogen but Lollipop is confirmed for the MX4 but I don't know when it will be released. Basically there is no development for the phone. But I like the stock software personally. One of the reasons I bought the phone.

Hi,
I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime, recently, there was a review of this smartphone at DPReview, mainly due to the camera being 13Mpx with Phase Detection Auto Focus, on such a cheap smartphone.
And I was wondering, how can I identify the Camera Sensors on this phone?
There has been a teardown of the phone, and below is the picture of the sensors found:
myfixguide dot com/manual/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-2-Teardown-16.jpg
The thing is, this references don't lead to anywhere... I've searched the net for them and found nothing... On Xiaomi's publicity, sometimes the sensor is publicized as being from Samsung or OV (Omnivision), this is never good, as we never know really what is the sensor we have on our phone...
And I've seen my share of Chinese Smartphone manufacturers that say they put sensors from Sony, and then it's Omnivision or Samsung (if your lucky), or else it's "Sunny" or some other small time chinese sensor brand...
What called my attention was, that for a smartphone so "cheap" (base model costs aprox. $125 in China), they put a 13Mpx PDAF sensor on it...
But I'm not sure both Omnivision and Samsung produce sensors with the same specs, also, from the picture below, it looks like the sensor might in fact be from "O-Film", another relatively lesser known sensor brand (check: o-film dot com)
Both sensors seem to have similar codes:
OMI BA 08
OMI 5F 05
So it looks like they might be sourced from the same manufacturer, but looking at the references, I'm afraid if they aren't really a 8Mpx sensor, interpolated to 13Mpx... Because of the "08" in the reference of the back sensor, while the front one has "05" which corresponds to the frontal camera spec of 5Mpx.
Can anyone help me identify the real sensor inside my phone? Thanks for the help !
Type *#*#6484#*#* into Phone, click on Software Version and scroll down. It does say OFilm under both Camera values. At least in my case.
Edit:
the sensors are http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/products/cmos-image-sensor/mobile-cis/S5K3M2?ia=217 and http://www.ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=150

Thanks for the tip !
In my case, I have:
- Back camera: the Sunny made S5K3M2_2ND (probably a clone of the Samsung ISOCELL S5K3M2, maybe this is their 2nd version clone or try...)
- Front camera: the Ofilm OV5670 (a clone of the Omnivision OV5670 probably)
I wonder if these clone brands have as good quality as the original ones...
Been looking on Chinese forums about this topic. I myself don't really care, but it slightly caught my interest. They are saying that the sensor is Samsung's and the camera module is Ofilm's or Sunny's.

Same here. The picture quality at day rivals those of much more expensive phones and the phone focuses fast enough for me - so the question on whether it's original vs a clone, or whether the PDAF is a real or fake one is purely academical to me. As for how such a "cheap" phone can have such features, it's simple: the companies charge huge margins. Just look at Sony's M5, it's essentially the same phone with more megapixels (though, tbh, not really better image quality) and costs around 500€. You're paying about 300€ just for the brand and pixels.
It's not a clone. Here is one of the links where it is explained what it all means: www.miui.com/thread-2916880-1-1.html
Use Google translate, you'll understand the general meaning. Basically, it's like I wrote in my previous post.

I'm not saying it is a clone, I'm saying I wouldn't care even if it is.
I was responding to the OP, though.

I have Sunny cameras (rear & front)
Front camera shot clean pictures in good light condition.
Rear camera is a little bit noise and macros are not perfect (you must stay at least at 10 cm from the subject in order to get a good macro) but autofocus is very fast
The problem is video FPS
I noticed that it drops dramatically in low light condition, from 30 to 22 so shot video lags
And in your?
I noticed that with miui 7 we now have slow motion so somewere around 90fps. ( you have to be in hd not in full hd to get this option).
My needs:
- Good Camera, esp for indoor and low light use. Need a good manual mode. Portrait mode not important, need to shoot mostly landscape pics.
- Good build quality
- Long lasting battery (~1-2 days for light use)
- Light user, no gaming or other heavy apps
The camera of Mi A1 vs Zenfone 3:
- A1 = dual camera set up
- A1 = no Laser autofocus, no OIS
I would like to get the Zenfone 3, but am seeing some reported issues of camera not focussing. How common is this problem? should I not consider Zenfone 3 based on this issue.
Good camera? Zenfone 3, no other choice.
Just exclude portrait mode.
I'm not having focusing issue of any kind. I do reset after every big update.
I get 7hr SOT on light usage.
Zenfone 3 fr sure as per ur preference. No focus issues with my phone.
thanks for the replies. I am having doubts due to the comments on this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72640398&postcount=7
Specifically because focussing issue is mentioned as a known issue. Any idea how common this issue is? My nexus 5x has just bootlooped on me so I am trying hard to stay away from phones with major known issues.

Nope, both camera on fw 6.0.1 and 7.0 are the same but seem like in 7.0 it's much better. For the focus issue, i've used camera for several times and i dont see that issue on my phone.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
Would you recommend Zenfone 3 to me? My main need is for a phone with a with good camera and long battery life. ( and cost less than $200)
Right now I see good deals on Zenfone 3 ( for $180) so I am considering it seriously.

I bought it 6 months ago 239$ for 5.2in and 249$ for 5.5in, i bought both variant. In 5.2in, i get 5hr SOT on light usage and 7hr for 5.5in. if you have some knowledge, you will reduce this to 6hr in 5.2in and 8hr in 5.5in-------> awesome .
I bought the 5.2in version. happy with it so far, thanks to all for the help and suggestions.
So since the OnePlus 9 pro came out I couldn't but notice that the main/selfie camera is the same as our "beloved" 8 pro but if I understood correctly that hasselblad tweaked the 9 pro's camera app. Or was it just the glass?
Anywho is there any difference between the OnePlus 9 pro's camera app and our 8 pro?
I personally do not know. However, I do not believe that they will ever make anything good again. Who the heck needs or wants a frant facing camera, anyway? I mean are we 13-16 year old girls trying to get as many STD's as we can before we hit the wall?
Well personally I love a good front facing camera especially with a wide angle one with a good aperture but that will never happen....
After seeing what op9p has to offer I think OnePlus has lost its touch and my experience with the op8p isn't helping either..
Is anyone working on a port of the APK?
I don't think the hardware is anything to do with the company they collaborated with, so if it's software then it could be portable?
Maybe
