Best version of android for our old phone - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For best performance and battery life which would be the best android version for our old device?
Is android 7.1.1 because it's an old device and the system would be more light?
OR
the last version of the android? That shouldn't be slightly hard on performance?
What would be your opinions regarding this?

Best firm for battery life?

Hi
I really love this phone but i find the mail reason i got it its because of its autonomy using eink screen. To my disapointment the phone has terrible battery life even with eink screen on. Sucking battery even in stand by not using the phone at really high rates when it shoudnt.
I have international lollipop firmware.
Is there any firm that fixes this?
Thanks in advance

Which Yotaphone are you using? (yd201/206)
Which firmware are you using?
Not that I know, I rooted and underclocked the CPU to 1.2ghz and the GPU to 356Mhz to improve the battery life and keep the temperature down. Strangely, performance does not seem to suffer too much and I checked the stats to confirm the underclocking is actually working.
Best battery life for yd206 is leaving the pre-installed modded 4.4 version. Android 5 and 6 were released by Google with battery-killing bugs, and while 7 fixes both, that and more recent versions are incompatible with Yotaphone 2's hardware. I'm thinking about moving back to Android 5, because downgrading to 4.4 won't get my battery life back (as reported by several users), and 5 has the best usability and set of features.

Hello!
I would like to ask, how do you mean modded 4.4? What does it mean? Where can I find?
Thanks

It means that the Android OS pre-installed on those phones is not original android (because that one does not support EPD screen). It is neither the original russian Yotaphone Android OS, because it supports more languages and cannot be updated to lollypop directly. However, that is more battery-efficient than later versions because the other Yotaphone Android OS versions are mods of broken Android releases, instead of the patched ones.

ROM based on Android Go

Hi
I saw that Android GO is launching. It is a light version of android, that was made to run smooth on lov-end smartphones. It is possible to create ROMS based on it?
I think in case of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro it will not increase performace becase it is a good device, but I think using android Go on device like that should improve battery life. How about that?

I just wanted to know best pie rom for our own Nexus 6p for battery timing.

Thankyou

No such thing as a best ROM. And what works best for me doesn't mean it will work for you, so this question is moot.
Go to the ROM threads, and read them/their op and see what features they have that you want. 95% of the ROMs are built by the same guy/group, so that really slims down how many ROMs you need to try when it comes to figuring out what works for you feature/battery wise.

I use RR if that helps..
Aosip(derpfest or without derpefest Version),,, Resurrection Remix,,, Carbon Rom,,,Pixel Experience Plus,,,,Aosp beta @winxuser have done some magical work with its kernel if Customization isn't your concern then this rom is battery friendly(plus overall well balanced Rom),,,,there aren't any night and day difference,,,For me Every Pie Rom is Stable plus there aren't any big difference in battery life,,,Sd810 sucks ,,,You can't expect anything from that junk in terms of performance or battery life its one of the worst Soc Qualcomm ever made..

Want to update but cannot make a decission

I've been browsing most of the current builds in the forum but it's been harsh to make a decision on which to take nowadays. Android Q builds seems to be unstable with some things not functioning, and Android P like Pixel Experience have been deprecated with no additional security patches in the past 4 or 5 months.
So far, the only build that seems to keep updated is LOS 16 with Android PIE and I understand that is the best option to get best from both worlds: latest security patches + fully functional ROM without glitches or hardware issues.
Which is your experience? Anything else that I shall consider?

I did not find time to update, so now, after they released 7.1 I think I'm going to stick to AOSP Extended with Android 10. Looks really awesome

Which is the best ROM based on smoothness and battery life?

Well, the title is pretty self-explanatory. Which ROM do you advise based on its smoothness and battery life? I'd like to keep the rom for a long time, so I'd like ROMs that continue to be supported in time. Thanks!
In my experience (tested global 11.0.0.1, eu stable 10.0.6.0, eu beta 9 12 12) and the last one was the smoothest, best working in performance although battery life is not that great as I wish).
The worst was stable eu 10.0.6.0 dont know why...
Pixel Experience (Official) with hasty kernel is good enough for me.
I would like to know as well

I prefer Pixel Experience Plus. Great performance and battery life

In my experience, the difference in smoothness and battery life between different roms of a similar base is negligible, however, stock roms tend to be slightly better.
