Is Oneplus 7 pro will have ax standard or it sticks with ac?

According to GSMArena (who are usually pretty reliable for info) it's still using ac (even though the SnapDragon 855 supports ax) but, of course, we won't have that confirmed until launch. I did try contacting Pete and Carl on Twitter, got no response though. Apparently the naming convention for Wi-Fi standards is gonna change too, ax is now known as Wi-Fi6 (with ac being Wi-Fi5).
This specification is even more disappointing though :
"USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB On-The-Go"

According to the Oneplus homepage it supprots ac, but not ax: "2x2 MIMO, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G/5G"
But also: "USB 3.1 GEN1, Type-C" So GSMArena is luckily wrong in this case...

My router is placed on the first floor and I have trouble getting stable WiFi connection at ground floor, especially my kitchen, which is at the rear.
I am surprised nobody mentioning this. The XZ2 has the worst WiFi reception among phones I have used recently (P10, Redmi5A, Samsung S8, OP5T). Yes, it is even worse than the budget Redmi 5A! I am on .265 firmware.

WiFi signal strength is noticeably weaker than Galaxy S7.
Connection drops from time to time.
3 stars.
It's terrible... This whole phone is a huge disappointment to me. One of my favorite experiences I've ever had is with the Asus Zenfone AR. With three degradation of my pixel 2 experience ( I can't even use it it's so slow) I miss the AR. To get back on topic yes the wifi receiver in this 5z is honestly really really weak. All the crazy positive reviews on this phone all over the web I am starting to not put any stock in any review now. Maybe it's just my particular device blah blah blah .....I'm Asus biggest fan but c'mon now.... Anyone have a 8gb Zenfone AR wanna deal?
Wifi signals are weaker compared to even other midrange phones.
I also confirm same. WiFi singal is not only weaker but weakest. AZF5Z India version.
Same spot at hotel room, my zenfone 5z get poor signal (1 wifi bar) but redmi 5 plus can get good signal (4 wifi bar).
Just bought this phone and I regret it.
Can it be rectified through an OTA update? Or is it a hardware issue?
any solution to weak WiFi in Asus 5z?

i have this phone since almost a week and here's my review:
Good phone, solid and at a good price, neat camera performance and fast, good quality videos. Battery lasts 1-2 days depending on usage. On the neg points: missing status LED which i found useful on my S5 and performance of wifi is not "amazing", still can be very good, problem is that the phone only has 802.11a/b/g/n whereas the S5 has 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4G + 5GHz, VHT80 MIMO, capable of transmitting via a contiguous 80Mhz channel which explains the higher speeds. And last the stock keyboard does not have haptic feedback when you type. Other than that, great phone

I fully agree, I would add that a fast charger included would be a complete win for this device!
It does connect to 5ghz wifi though right? From what I've heard, A and N bands are 5ghz, although it only uses the fastest band of 5ghz if it has AC.
Someone is selling an A6 for cheap and I'm really considering it. I like the size

Wireless signal strength is avarage to poor. My Xiaomi Mi4c finds networks where as my Mi8 doesn't. My Xiaomi Mi4c has almost full bars where my Mi8 has only 1 and even disconnects. The Mi4c wireless is the best I ever had on a phone, even beats the iPhone X in both range and performance.
Troughput is good, i dont have wireless AC, only 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. I get 200/20 from my ISP. A wireless speedtest when i have full connection over 5Ghz results in the following:
Download: 168 mbps
Upload: 20,5 mbps
Ping: 10 ms
These results probably could be better when using better equipment. My wireless network is provided by a TP-Link WDR4300 with stock firmware.
It's excellent. Nothing to complain about, 250/250 connection.
Excellent, on 600/600 5 GHz wifi
Can anyone else contribute on the wifi connection range and strength vs other phones?

Nope, as it's excellent, just like most phones today.
If someone have an issue it's due to their ISP/router etc. like @ndonkersloot, not the device.
No problems. Better than the Huawei V10.
Poor
My Mi 8 has a poor signal, I had a Mi 5 and the strength it's better, like @ndonkersloot I have the same issues
I just tried to disable the data, then I connected to the WIFI at home and I activated the Hotspot. Then I connected to hotspot with an old simless smartphone and was able to surf the internet. Virtually the Mi 8 global with MIUI 10 stable function as WIFI extender. Stefano from Italy.
Average at best. I have noticed it suffers from some of the issues that older iPhones had due to antenna placement. When you hold the phone horizontally (landscape), poor connections take a huge hit.

Is anyone experiencing low wifi strength when playing games (covering the wifi band instead of covering the speaker) ? Overall wifi strength is good but if you accidentally cover it while watching videos or something it slows down connection real bad.
(I'm on Xiaomi.eu 11.0.7)

All the 2019 xiaomi's suffer from low quality wifi connection ( i had note 8, note 8 pro, mi9SE and now mi note 10 ) and all are capped at ridicolous 96mbs on 2.4ghz while with others ( huawei's best ) in the same spot i have 400mbs.
My mi note 10 it's even bested by lower tier xiaomi's ( i have a redmi note 5 pro to compare ) regularly loose wifi connection in some spot and it's not auto reconnecting.
You cant have 400 mb connection on 2.4 GHz band . This is a lot over 2.4 can do. either IT was on 5ghz or GSM accelerated
So so
With different modems and qnc, you get different connection speed.

I have a netgear r7800 that can do theorical 800mbs on 2.4ghz, max i see at 20mhz channel is 400. With huawei nova5t i see 400, with this phone like i said max was 96 only, i flashed cc9pro rom (xiaomi eu) and now magically is showing 200.
