Is anyone having issues with the power button following the 1 March security patch?
So far I've encountered the ff issues:
using the power button to unlock the screen opens the camera instead
using the power button to unlock the phone shows only about one-fifth of the wallpaper, the rest of the screen is black
the power button is sometimes unresponsive
my fingerprints aren't getting recognized anymore (especially since they got deleted after both the nougat update and this security patch update)
Or has anyone even experienced this group of issues at all?
What model are you using? Currently using TA-1053. All fine.

Yeah, also on the TA-1053. I received the April patch today though and now everything appears to be back to normal. Weird no one else experienced that. Thanks anyway!

Okay, so I just rooted my HTC Aria with the latest nightly build of froyo. Well, the problem is sometimes when I lock my phone, I'll pick it up and press the power button to turn the screen on and I won't be able to enter my password because the touch screen is unresponsive. After about 30 seconds or so it will become responsive again. Anyone else have this problem and/or know what's causing it?

a lot of people are having this issue, its a known issue. attn1 says that the 8/13 nightly build has a kernel upgrade to potentially solve this issue
Hey,
I got a i9500 and i have a problem with the home button.
Sometimes when i push the home button it opens the multitasking windows although i didnt do a long push. It happes sometime and it really annoys me.
If someone knows how to solve it please tell me.
Thanks,
Eden
By the way, dont tell i dont know to push a short push beause this is NOT the problem. I gave it to some friends and it happened to them too.
Your button is sticking. When you press it it does not come up fast enough.
Did you get any juice or sweat in the button ?

If it is trutly a physical defect with the home button your best but most annoying option is to take back the phone and have it changed with a new one.
Another thing to do is to do a factory reset (just in case there is a software bug causing the button to act this way)

This are my last options. I dont want to replace my phone neither to wipe it.
If you someone encounter this problem please help me.
Thanks
I have the same problem with my phone. Runing stock ROM.
The home button will trigger the task manager upon waking up the phone. This is driving me absolutly crazy. I hate lock screens and passwords just to get to the home screen.
Once the home screen is up this behavior stops.
I just tested the time it takes to hold the home button and launch the task manager alongside with my old Galaxy S2 and the latter needs a longer hold on the button.
The home button is not sticky, it has a normal feel and click.
Please help
Actually my problem i not at the waking up of the phone but in the home screen or in any app.
HELP
Just made an account because I'm having the exact same issue and was wondering if you were able to fix it at all because this happened to my phone very suddenly so I'm wondering if it's a software issue.. Please reply.
One thing I noticed is that this never happens when I'm on the home screen, only when have an app open. Also, it doesn't feel like the button is sticking by any means. My phone is a week old..

I'm having this same issue. When I'm at the home screen it doesn't "stick", but only when I'm in an application. What's up with this behavior? It's a recent development. Could this be a software issue? I have a Verizon S4 and it hasn't had a software update at all yet.
Any solutions, or maybe there's an app we all have that is causing this?
UPDATE
I've made this happen on the home screen, usually by pressing near the middle of the home button, however this only starts happening after the phone has been on for a while. I'm so confused as to whether this is a hardware or software issue, or maybe a combination of both.

The home button problem was gone for a while, but a week ago, it came back and I decided to call T-Mobile. They immediately said it was a software issue and recommended me to do a factory reset. So I did and it seems to be working perfect now, haven't had the home button sticking or giving any problems for about a week now.you should definitely give that a try.hope it helps.
hey guys.
I switched some ROMs after that and it solved the problem. I can only assume it is a software bug.
try upgrading to the newest version(I use 4.3)
Hope you will all solve it as i did.
My nexus 4 doesn't respond to power buttons at time. Sometimes it works flawlessly. Sometimes it doesn't. I'm on stock android 4.3 rooted only.
I don't know whether this is hardware or software problem. Can anyone name any app that enables waking up nexus 4 using volume button?
P.s I did a full reset too.
I got the same problem after upgrading to 4.3 via OTA , also some people have the same problem

I think I have the same issue after the latest minor OTA update the week before.
The 1/4 chance that screen turns on after power button pressed about 2 seconds longer than normal.
I flashed a customer ROM based on CM10, Same issue !
This just started occuring this afternoon before and after I installed the latest ZVA firmware:
1. The "Home" soft button responds to my touch - as in I get the visual and haptic feedback as if I've touched the soft button but it refuses to actually DO anything. I can hit the Home button on any screen and any app and it takes me nowhere.
2. The Lock screen is no longer activating - as in I let the screen hit the timeout and let it set for a few minutes. If I try to "knock" on or use the power button, it opens right back up where I left it with no Lock screen.
I hope this makes sense. I'm really stumped here. Like I said, it just started happening this afternoon and I figured that it was some weirdness to due w/ the pending OTA update. After installing the OTA update, the problems persist.
I'd rather not do a factory reset, but I will if I must

same here, my tmobile d801 updated to stock kitkat via OTA, i was able to keep root but I was encountering "BLUETOOTH" battery drain even when bluetooth was not enabled so i did a factory reset and got a black screen with white error message
"boot certificate error"
after that the phone reboots but i have the same problems
1. Home button does not do anything but does respond to touch.
2. Notifications are not working anymore.
3. Lockscreen is not working even when enabled in settings
4. I cannot factory wipe, from settings or using volume down + power button.
5. Settings are in a list view instead of tabbed.
:crying:

Bringing this old post up as I just now encountered this on my AT&T LG G2. It occurred when I was using Google Maps which then crashed and caused everything to freeze. Upon reboot, I get the exact same issues as stated above. What was the outcome for you guys? Did you end up doing a hard reset?
Everything appears to be functioning with the exception of above. I'm suspecting a software issue with the home launcher as the soft keys are responsive but the Home one. The Notification Bar lags when trying to drag it down, but none of the notifications are functioning. I also noticed a significant amount of lag. Prior to the "crash" my phone was flawless with no lag for the past 10 months. I absolutely have no clue what just happened...
Hi,
I have an issue regarding my OP2 which is original Oxygen OS 2.0.0 (I have not updated it considering several persons mentionned heavier battery drain after update and I just love the amount of battery life I got so far).
My issue is that, whenever I unlock the phone after leaving it locked for more than 5 seconds, 9 times out of 10, my first click on the home button (software or hardware, the same issue happens) is unresponsive.
I can see the button being touched (grey circle around it) but it does not do anything else than that.
This is really annoying as each time I unlock my phone and go into an app, I have to press the home button twice to leave this app.
This bug only occures on the first press, after that, until next unlock, button is fully responsive.
Does anyone know what it might be linked to?
Thank you very much !!!
Same issue. I'm on rooted oxygen 2.2.0. First press on home button after an unlock does nothing.
