how to roll back to Oero from Official Pie - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

After updating to Official Pie Update, my graphics setting in PUBG Mobile got ruined, now i can't switch to HD Graphics with High Frame Rate. All I see is Medum with Medium Frame Rate which I hate. Somebody help me with this issue, all i want to do is downgrade to Android Oreo. Thank you

Tried this?

If you want HD gfx in pubg and you want to downgrade to 8.1 only for that reason then you can just use a GFxTool and restore hd with extreme frames. Why do you want to waste your time downgrading just for that hd gfx thing? PUBGFX Tool + works well( avl on xda labs)
If you still want to downgrade then the other guy did post a link to a tutorial follow that.

Pie stock (stable/beta) is a mess....better 2b on stock Oreo or custom pie.

Check your private message. Have sent you a YT video link. Do the steps accordingly & you can rollback. I myself have tried it n it works.

I have downloaded Pie via OTA but did not install. Where are the downloaded files via OTA in the phone saved? Want to delete them too.

New Factory Image is available for download. LMY48I

http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/0...mages-arrive-for-nexus-4-5-6-7-2013-9-and-10/
This opens a number of issues for me.
Between those who said they don't like the performance of Lollipop on razor/razorg and those who said that some of the Lollipop OTAs bricked their devices, I decided to stay on KitKat. And with M coming soon, I am hoping to just sit Lollipop out (and that they will make factory images for M available for razorg!)
But it seems Google isn't back-porting security fixes to KitKat, so if I want to stay secure, I'm going to be forced to update to Lollipop, if not for stagefright, then for some other issue in the near future.
Apart from MMS, do we know what the other potential exploit vectors of the stagefright bug are?

In regards to performance, my Nexus 7 has never run better since the Lollipop updates. I don't take OTA's though. I run rooted stock, with a custom kernel so that I can slightly overclock the GPU to 450MHz, and the CPU to 1.7GHz, giving me real Snapdragon 600 performance, instead of the underclocked "S4 Pro" speed the Nexus 7 uses by default.

I'm glad to hear it's doing well for you. Perhaps I'll just flash the latest Lollipop image on it and see.

New bootloader in LMY48I
When I saw there was a new bootloader, I hesitated. I was afraid it would be locked and have to be unlocked, wiping my N7. But I backed up, plunged ahead, flashed (with WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit (NRT) 2.0.5) the new bootloader, then boot.img, system.img, and cache.img. The updated bootloader was still unlocked and I didn't lose my data! I rooted via NRT and all is well. An uneventful update. Hope this helps.
^The bootloader is the same since 5.1. MD5: 2bcd3097abcc6923b2a3e5f6035e3b18
System, boot and recovery.img changed. I just flashed system and boot. No problems. And twrp since flashing only system and boot images somehow the stock recovery appears. I definitely didn't flash the stock recovery...
Lollipop is **** if u are a gamer even on latest releases (playing games other than Candy Crush) . if u don't play games like Vainglory, Minion Rush, Spiderman Unlimited, etc. then u can flash Lollipop (if u are on stock KK and u flash the factory image of Lollipop, then it is impossible to brick your device. If u upgrade from KK to LP using the OTA then u have a chance of bricking the device). If u are like me and u care about the FLO/DEB performance and want to play certain resource demanding games, then go with a KK ROM like Mahdi 2.9 Final and apply a Lollipop theme and u will almost not see any difference in terms of UI.

having mixed feelings about this new update, installed it and the official zimperium stagefright detector still said I was vulnerable to ALL exploits while another app said I was not vulnerable at all! Don't know what to believe though...
Anyone else still "vulnerable" after this update?
Maybe I'm missing something, but why is stagefright even a concern on the Nexus 7?

It doesn't only come from MMS but also from browsers like chrome, stock browser, .... which is pretty much a bigger threat than MMS as not everyone knows your phone number but everyone can put there nice little virus on the internet and when accessed they would have full control of our tablets!

OK. Thanks. I thought it was only a MMS threat.

MM Performance

Just updated via kdz and im not too impressed. Coming from a geeked up lollipop with no lag to now having cpu throttling all over again. Its great when its been sitting around but once you start using it or trying to olay a game it sucks. Got into the hidden menu and turned off thermal mitigation and htp and nothing changed. Hopefully the good guys here will get root and a kernel going because...damn. Anyone else?
Well you SHOULD HAVE flashed the D85530B.zip via TWRP instead of the KDZ if you wanted to keep root and other Kernel Tweaks. The Lag is not MM issue, it's just the bugged CPU governor. Changing it to Conservative from Interactive eliminates the lag just like in LP.
The only to fix that would be to downgrade and then flash via twrp?
For now, for who flashed the KDZ, I don't think there's a way to downgrade / root it yet.
Hmmm well with this clean kdz i will recieve OTA right? And after my phone settled down it runs a little smoother than it did when i first flashed. Just lags up when it gets warm ??
Have no probs here runs really smooth it does ?
What kdz do you have
derp :/
just posted in wrong topic
sorry :<
what are you guys talking about?mine performnace is great.even with interactive governer there is no lag.i am a heavy gamer.i played lots of heavy games and i didnt noticed any lags or heating issue.
maybe i need to let it set in. I was really optimized when on 5.0 so maybe im expecting too much. It does perform better than my friends vs985 with 5.1.1

Update
Yo guys,
I haven't updated my g3 yet but I have a few questions.
1. I was wondering if you update, and you have a knock code with less than 6 combinations, do you have to change your code immediately? Maybe after the update I can still use my 4 combination knock code if I don't change it afterwards? Like some sort of glitch? Or maybe I won't be able to unlock it because it has less than 6 combinations?
2. Is it necessary to reset the phone after the update or is it recommended?
3. Since I set the user of my phone to guest, my wallpaper changes every 5 minutes to another. I can still set it back to my previous wallpaper but a few minutes later it changes to another wallpaper again. Does anybody have or had this issue too and does that person know if this has been resolved in marshmallow?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

1) fastboot flash stock ROM. Links can be obtained in Guide & discussion thread.
Since you used the official process to unlock bootloader i pre assume you know that you won't be getting any OTA updates from ASUS .
2) you can copy the obb files or the data files using any file manager
3) when screen turns off after few mins of inactivity DOZE should kick in but if it isn't then you have some rogue apps .. Identify them and block the rogue wakelocks .
You can use app like " betterbatterystats " for identifying the wakelocks.
4) No.
Thank you.

You will never receive OTA.
You need to update/flash manually everytime a new update is being pushed by Asus .
So its better to not lock bootloader . There are twrp flashable zips available here. Those zips suits you better.
You can get them in Guides & discussion forums

to root or not to root that is the question

So I just got my op6t and I'm conflicted if I should root. I'm under a 2year payment plan (honestly never stopped me in the past). But I have to ask is it worth it on the 6t?
Hi!
Actually there are a lot of things you can do without root your phone, and some others having rooted. Know also that having the MSM Download Tool available here in the forum you can return to fully unrooted/stock your phone at any moment, even if you render it to a non bootable/loopboot status.
Also have in mind that the "worst" part of being rooted is the lose of Widevine L1, so you won't be able to watch HD content in your device using Netflix. This also seems to apply to some banking apps that looks not working detecting rooted devices.
And for the custom roms... well, there are some great around here, but by now no one actually can use the fingerprint scanner to unlock your phone.
I rooted mine when was new released, was the first thing I did. Then I returned to stock a few days later. Didn't make any sense to me be in the root side...
Thank you that helped a lot. I will definitely have to think about root and weigh the pros and cons
No one will know if u root or not. That's the joy of msm. And if u use libcrypto disabler u can still watch in hd.
I would definitely root. Won't hurt.
I wouldn't install a custom rom though. Very disappointing on this device.
I have tried every rom. And Built a few for this device. Tresk mod (Google it, not on xda) it is the best rom. And works farrrr better than oxygen os with this hardware.. there isn't absolutely anything disappointing with it.

Hello!
Didn't know about that libcrypto disabler, but I googled and found this in the developer thread:
"Please note that a consequence of using this module is that Widevine DRM will fall back to using L3 instead of L1. This means that Netflix will play all content in SD quality, regardless of your subscription type. Of course, without this module, you won't be able to play anything on a rooted device, so beggars can't be choosers."
Actually that's what happens with the OnePlus 6T, once unlocking the bootloader leads the Widevine DRM to L3, so Netflix only plays SD content.
Just get root with Magisk and disable (hide) any app that disallows root. One of the most important aspects (at least for me) of being root is Titanium Backup and AdAway.
What I would like to know is when the bootloader is unlocked, is the device fully decrypted? Or is the encryption still fully functioning even when bootloader is unlocked and rooted?

Still encrypted, u don't want it decrypted.. security is broken if u do..and has zero benefits like on older phones
I stopped rooting years ago...about android 4.3
Prior to that, even going back to my "pda-phone" days, I use to flash about anything that would come along. My first droid was the Dell Streak 5, then the Galaxy Note 1. Then came droid 4.3 and the Mate 2, which was good and for me, didn't need to be rooted. Now, after work, I rarely pick up the phone unless someone calls me. It's a work "tool" and I just don't bother. Other than Nova Launcher, I just don't screw with them any more.

Wrong, you can use libcrypto disabler to watch HD videos in Netflix. And custom roms do now have working fingerprints. You can hide root from banking apps since Magisk is systemless.

Read this about libcrypto disabler from the developer:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-liboemcrypto-disabler-drm-t3794393
Notice the last paragraph before the change log.
And for the custom roms having working fingerprint sensor, could you recommend any? I'll like to test some of them.
TY!

Can we install and use dolby without rooting our phones? if we can plz share something...
Thanks.
Last time I rooted was the Note 4. Didn't care to until Google began handicapping Android more and more. The big one for me is killing call recording. Ironically, Google has been working more to copy iOS, an OS which supports call recording. So they're not copying that part of it.

Try Skydragon, the battery life is incredible. Best I've ever seen.
I recently reverted back to stock software. As nice as rooting can be, it gets very easy to be addicted to flashing software constantly, and oxygen OS is really the best Android experience these days. My only complaint is the occasional aggressive hibernation in their kernel configuration. But the overall experience is great, and unless you're getting pretty technical on your customizations, stock international software can't be beat!
So if I just convert from T-Mobile to international can I still have hd Netflix?

If your bootloader is unlocked, no. Just unlocking the bootloader leads Widevine from L1 (HD content) to L3 (SD content). (This happens only while your bootloader is unlocked, relocking it will raise Widevine to L1 again.)
I don't know if you are using the MSM Tool to convert your phone or if is some sort of rom mix flashed via TWRP, but using MSM tool flashes to stock and then relocks the bootloader, so you will be able to play HD content in Netflix.
You can use any tool like "DevCheck Hardware and System Info" from @flar2 available at the Play Store to check your Widevine level amongst other useful device info.

Does Custom ROM allow for HD Netflix on Rooted phones?

Not sure if this has been answered somewhere, but if I install a custom ROM on my OP8 Pro, can I use Netflix HD without having it detect to L3 Widevine? I read somewhere that this works but need more confirmation.
Have been out of the custom ROM game for a while so any help would be appreciated.
Hmmm.
Unlocking the bootloader triggers the L3 Widevine
So i dont think that a custom rom can change something...

So I have tried a couple of different methods. Lucky patcher didn't seem to do anything. I've tried multiple modified Netflix apks. The best I've been able to achieve is movie description saying hd. However when I use the test pattern it is still stuck at sd.
I'm not saying there isn't a method out there but I've yet to find it.
I am rooted, unlocked boot loader, using xxx ROM, and omega kernel, and my netflix is working on hd L1 WIDEVINE
