According to the official introduction, EMUI 9.1 has been improved in three aspects: aesthetics, performance, and smart experience. It claims to have deep optimization at the DNA level and lasting fluency beyond imagination.
In terms of aesthetics, wallpapers, themes, and icons are further improved, more natural and dynamic, especially the icons, using a micro-real style, refining the design elements in the daily image, and also more flat, while the number of default horizontal icons is reduced from 5 to 4, the visual effect is better, and the chance of accidental touch is greatly reduced.
In terms of performance, the new EROFS file system, also known as “Extendable Read-Only File System”, claims that the random read speed is 20% higher than the EXT4 file system, up to 63.3MB/ s, to ensure that the system is more fluid, but also saves space.
At the same time, the new system also supports GPU Turbo 3.0, which is the third-generation graphics acceleration technology. It has added 19 international games with higher frame rate and lower power consumption.
In terms of smart experience, more details and experience upgrades include a touch, a collision, a car key, and an AR measurement.

You have little idea. Android 9 arrived a month ago, quite fast for this mobile, and this update will soon be available without a doubt after it reaches the newer mobile

Yeah. They updated it. And the update feels like it wasn't tested. Especially the crappy display size.
help me please...
after update EMUI 9 in my mate9 , no can reset factore in stock recovery, after 26% fail and reboot.....
i try relock bootloader for try reset phone and no possible

FAILED (remote: root type is risk)
finished. total time: 0.009s
C567 still on 8.0
Yeah seems to me they should finish updating their devices first. It's not just the 567 as quite a few have been vocal about not getting 9 yet.

Yes, indeed. The "much too big user-interface elements (notification bar/panel, navigation bar etc.)" make Emui 9 look very ugly on the Mate 9. Must have been some kind of beta version or so. Desperately waiting for Emui 9.1.
That's assuming they even touched the UI and it's not the same as 9.0
The Pie nav button in EMUI 9 is also garbage, it's supposed to stay on top of fullscreen apps, not take up the same space as the three buttons, what were they even thinking
any news????

if your phone is locked on one of the phone companies, then it depends on these phone carriers if you are going to get the update at all, the unlocked versions have all been updated, I think
The c567 US version has not.

Me, I look for VALUE. I bought a Mate2, in 2014 on a whim. It SURPRISED me how well it worked on an SD400 with a 720p screen.
It was the FIRST phone I've owned that I never rooted. Owned it for over 2 1/2 years, never powered it off unless I was some place that
required it to be turned off. 100% stock.
Last winter, when the Mate8 came out, I LOVED it...except for one minor detail. THE PRICE. So I just kept the 2 and waited. When the
Mate9 was announced, I started watching the price on the 8. When it came down to a level I found ok, I bought it. "But, the 9 is right
around the corner". Yeah, and the price is similar to what the 8 was less than a year ago.
The dual camera, and other do-dads didn't impress me.
I've got the 8, the camera for a point/shoot is pretty good, the performance is top notch, along with another kick butt battery.
Right now, I'm a Huawei fan.

I love my mate 8, good device. The update to android 7.0 made in my opinion the device even better.
I just bought a galaxy s7 on contract with 20Gb internet a month, i kinda miss some handy (and lazy) features the mate 8 has. On the hardware side, they are both quick devices, cameras are good, music output on the mate 8 speaker is a bit better then the s7 (there is more bass in the mate 8, it even could handle my hardcore/hardstyle music, the s7 does not). And battery life, the mate 8 is the only device i held that lasts 2 to 2.5 days on a full charge, my s7 goes 1 to 1.5 day. Fingerprint on the mate 8 works very well!
The reason why i bought an use the s7 is because of my work, a screen size of 6 inches will get destroyed at work lol.
You are coming from an s6, you'll have to get used on the software buttons then the hardware buttons with the mate 8 . I suggest you should try out an mate 8 if its available to try in a local phone store. In my opinion huawei does a good job with the Mate and P line.
Btw, the mate 8 is a bit older now, huawei already released the Mate 9... wich looks almost the same but with newer specs and software etc.

Thanks! I'm fine with software buttons, having used a Nexus 4 and huawei p8 before. Mate 9 is out of the question because of the price - I can get the mate 8 for almost the equivalent price as selling my s6 so it's almost a free upgrade :highfive:
Yeah the mate 9 is a punch in the wallet. Mate 8 should drop alot in price tag at the moment.
I am still sometimes hitting a random spot on the screen cause i am used to the software buttons, then remembering i have hardware buttons now.
I also owned a P8 about a year ago, sadly it got stolen at a festival, but then the mate 8 was in my hands.
But you're selling the s6, hope it still pays out cause its already an older device now due to the s7 and s8 thats coming, and we all know the story about second handed phones when you sell it, you dont get much
I got my mate 8 in Nov. last year. It has been working well till now.
Mate 8 is dual SIM full active. Mate 9 is just dual SIM stand by...

Hi all,
Well as the title says I recently bought the Pixel 2 xl and put the mate 9 in to retirement....... For only 5 days !!
I can honestly say if you are toying with buying one don't bother. The mate 9 is an awesome phone which excels in many ways against the pixel. Yes the pixel is buttery smooth with a great camera but that's about it. Definitely not 900 pounds better than the mate 9 so it's going back to Google tomorrow.
I won't bore you with details unless you want me to but be happy in the fact that the latest and greatest android phone ain't all that.
Happily back using the mate 9 now and contemplating the mate 10 pro.

Been pretty content with the Mate 9, tried other phones but cant back this one down, sure it may be older than some newer phones (IE Pixel 2, S8 etc) but its still an excellent phone, from software to the hardware, i think Huawei out did themselves on this one, Mate 10, ehh idk I'll wait for like the Mate 11 or something.

I had it to do over with, I'd probably would went with the Pixel 2 XL or the S8+ or the Note 8. The US version of the Mate 9 hasn't seen a single update since April 5th. Pretty lame of Huawei if ask me. Not a good way to break into the US market.

Do you have any particular issues with the mate 10 pro apart from the lack of expandable memory and headphone jack.?
I must admit I was mildly underwhelmed when it was launched, but for the money it offers a lot in comparison to the pixel 2 xl.

Disappointing yes that they lack the updates but to me it doesnt affect me as much, never had a single problem with this device, on occasions the fingerprint reader wouldnt just work and i had to re register the print

No, I just love the fact that the Mate 9 was already good enough as it is, while retaining a headphone jack and the expandable memory, which is a big plus in my books, and also that on the non pro version of the 10 that they moved the fingerprint reader to the front instead of the back which was really great
Hi
About 2 years ago I bought my mate 8 on a business trip in Guangzhou/China. I loved the phone, I did not rebrand it, because I liked it to get faster updates and could live with most of the chinese textes. In two weeks I travel again to china and it's time for a new phone. Not because my mate 8 is not good enough anymore, I still love it, but my son want's a phone and I planed to give him mine and I buy a new one for my self as a christmas gift.
Unfortuantely it's hard to decide which phone should be my next daily driver. The following phones are on my list:
- Mate 10 or Mate 10 pro
- Mi Mix 2
- Oneplus 5t
Each of this phones have advantages and disadvantages. I like MIUI, therefore the Mi Mix 2 would be a good choice, but the camera is not so good. I like the stability of the Mate series, but EMUI is not really my favorit, but the camera seams to be very good. The Oneplus 5t has a nice UI as well and also the camera seams not to bad.
Which phone would you choose?

Battery, battery, battery! screen size/resolution, update history, build quality, CPU/RAM, XDA support, price point.. probably in that order.
I'd never go backwards in terms of battery life. Everything else would then be considered.

mate 10 pro is best in battery, screen size and preinstalled software (oreo). however, it lacks a headphone jack and sd card slot and the 6" screen is actually smaller than the mate 8 due to different ratio (18:9 vs. 16:9). also, if the mate 8 is any indication, huaweis update policy is a bit lackluster...
mi mix 2 is king when it comes to small bezels, however screen size and battery capacity are not acceptable. no idea about miui, from what ive seen its quite similar to emui though. just hope that xiaomi is a bit better than huawei when it comes to android support of their phones.
OP5T would ne king in terms of pricing and xda dev support. however, since the OP left his mate 8 stock, this will probably not be a valued point in this regard...
out of the above, i would probably go for either mate 10 pro or OP5T. however, ive been eyeing the mi max 2 because of its humongous screen size and battery lets see what 2018 will bring to the table, ill keep my mate 8 until then...

I bought the Mate 9 about 3 months ago. The 8, replaced my 2....
I'll probably get the 10, about this time next year. (I sell them after I buy a new one).
I was thinking about Xiaomi Mi Mix 1 not 2
SD 821 is still a beast , 6.4 inches in a 6 inch body is appealing , humongous battery , and I don't really care much about the camera , the only thing that worries me about the Mi Mix is the phone speaker which is impeded in the screen itself and has mixed reviews about it , some good some bad
Sorry for the bad English ...
i did it, made the plunge and got myself the mi max 2. not regretting it! already used to the huge phone size, the 6.44 inch screen is absolutely lovely and the battery life...insane. seriously.
i got lineage os 14.1 installed based on android 7.1.2 and my first battery charge is heading towards 24h sot (yep, you read correctly, thats twenty-four!!!! hours of screen on time ) currently, im at 42% battery and already have 14h8min sot tucked under my belt... so thats around 24.4h sot for 100% charge

Booooooo we will miss you around here.
I was also going to upgrade my phone this fall but mostly because I dropped my Mate 8 in water last spring. Battery and screen took some damage but after replacing the battery it has been running like a charm.
I actually went so far as to having the Mate 10 in the hand before my gf stole it from me so now I will wait for next year's flagships. Very curious about OnePlus 6 hopefully with fingerprintscanner under the screen and Treble. Also the new line from Sony, who is finally getting a new design looks very interesting, the leaked renders with front facing speaker looked exactly what I am looking for.

yep, its definitely about time that sony trimmed their HUGE bezels around the screen
btw, also keep an eye out for the xiaomi mi max 3, it will follow the new 18:9 display ratio trend, but sporting thin bezels, 7 inch (!!!) screen diagonal and a whopping 5500 mAh battery. could very well be the perfect successor phone for us mate 8 lovers plus, itll also sport upgrade performance with potential SD 630/660

Round 3: Screen: Winner Note 5 Pro * ( If you like saturation, there is a little more in the N5... you can see it in the screen icons in the Memory Management Vid )
Round 4: Style Points... Winner Honor 7X.. Bezels are clearly slimmer...
Winner 3 Rounds To 1... * The Honor 7X*.. :highfive:
Now..... Let's See What The Moto G6 Plus Will Bring To The Party.
I agree I've been a Xiaomi fan for a while but swapped to a 7x a month or so ago.
Glad I did, it's more stylish smaller slimmer and lighter than the 5 pro & I got a 64gb for the same price.

Good Deal Sir...
You will not get the same Developer Support you had with the Xiaomi.. but I feel this is the 1st phone I've owned that does not required Root Access..
I personally don't see any apps that I would use that I'm not using right now without root.. Now A Days, with No Root Adaway, Themes with Customized Theme Managers, Extreme Battery Saving options, Screen Tempeture adjustments, DPI adjustments, Floating Docs etc.. nothing else is needed.
It's a new day.. times have changed.. Customization as well as Personalization can be had right out of the box.
Enjoy Your 7X Man... You scored a great deal.
I've rooted mine. But I agree I always had to put cyanogen or lineage to replace MIUI but with this EMUI its nice and with root it fills in a few gaps that a full Lineage would provide.
If OpenKirin team release AOSP or lineage I probably won't replace EMUI

Ok... 1 Down.. 1 To Go...
Honor has now impressed me with this Honor 7X.
The 7X is already going Head to Head with the shiny new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
And it's Kicking It's Ass.

But am shifting to note 5 pro because of the processor and HUGE DEVELOPER SUPPORT....i have been waiting for the support for this device and cant wait anymore...no oreo update still....even note 5 pro wont get oreo update any time soon but developers somehow work very hard for mi devices....i have seen huge support for note3,note4 and A1 devices. So BYE Honor forever
Can't Blame You..

Hey Kiran.. Hate To See You Go...
But.. I understand why you are making the switch to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
YES.. in time..( you'll still need Kernel Source or a port of Project Treble ) Developer Support will outstrip the 7x 5 to 1...
There Really Is NO Guarantee The 7x Will Get Anymore Than Base Support.
It's funny how everyone just assumes...
People rooting their devices left and right... throwig their warranty out the window and don't even have a stock image to flash should they need it.. or like you are ready to move on from it.. and need to return it to stock.
At first, I thought root and rom for the 7x was still the way to go..
But this is 2018.. And if a person does their research, they'll see there is NOTHING one can't now do / have with the stock setup that a Custom ROM can do.. Especially when it comes to the 7x.. Outside of just being different to be different.. ( And YES That Is What XDA Is All About )
I wish you all the best with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.. That Snapdragon 636 is GUARANTEED to get LOTS of attention.
For Me *100% Stability & Functionality* are the PARAMOUNT requirment at this stage of the game.
I did not pay hard earned dollars to see Exclamation Screens & "Android has stopped unexpectedly" Screens along with hearing there's a fix coming for this and a fix coming for that...
No Thanks.
Only stock ROM's (even debloated.. don't really care for Deodexed.. slows things down just a wee bit..) are the way to go for the forseeable future IMO..
Again especially with the 7x.. it's just feature rich right out of the box..along with so many mods now that don't even require root.
It's been weeks now since the 1st B192 (Face Unlock / AR) update was released.. and only 20% of the planet has gotten it.. at this pace.. full rollout of B192 and EMUI / OREO 8.0 won't be completed until Mid / Late Summer.
Anywho..
Goodbye & Goodluck with your Xiaomi Mr. K !
One Final Question..

Hey Kiran.. 1 Question Sir,
Did you root? if so, are you going to sell it as a "Rooted Device" ?
And... If you did root.. don't you have to go through some proceedure with Honor to get a code to unlock the bootloader? so now there is no warranty.. and it's been Permenantly registered with Honor as a unsecured device?
Just wondered if facing these possible conditions, will it cause you to lower your selling price if selling publicly.
Thanks if don't mind sharing.. Feel Free To P. M. Me If you Like...
