I'm getting the same battery life from JS3 that I was getting with stock JP8 2.2 ROM (approx 3 days). With JPY I was barely getting a day so I would say that it's better!
I do use a different modem version from the standard that comes with JS3 which seems to make a difference

you are getting ~3 days because you are NOT using your phone :/
the battery life is as sh*tty as it was on any other recent firmware.

not a helpful answer. i have same problem with 2.2.1.
No difference .
But if you read the battery faqs and posts . Drain battery delete battery stats bump charge battery turn off what's not needed to be constantly on . set wifi to sleep with screen off etc you should get a better battery life .
But it is all dependant upon how you use the phone GPS on WiFi on Data on as you sleep is a waste .

Won't turning wifi off when screen off just make your bill higher? Does really mobile network use less power than wifi?

It's a shame there are people on this forum who feel the need to post comments like the above. My post was a direct comparison between my battery life on stock 2.2 and JS3 with the same usage pattern so it is a valid comment, the way in which I use my phone is beside the point. The same usage pattern with JPY was killing the battery within a day.
Agreed .

It is the wifi section of the jpy modem that drains your battery, use "clockwork" to flash the JPA modem onto your PJY firmware.. works a treat.
with heavy use I get about a day and a half, but on the jpy modem I got just a day out of it.
JPA modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=472301&d=1293180843
and if you find no difference flash back using this
PJY modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=472302&d=1293180979
good luck

I use the Vodafone UK BUJP5 modem with the JS3 PDA on my phone which may explain why I get reasonable battery life now. If anyone is interested there's another thread about JS3 on here and in it I've put a link to download a package I made that has the JS3 PDA, JPY CSC and JP5 modem which can be flashed with Odin. I'll post the download link here as well:

Flash with Odin with no PIT file or re-partition selected.

So if I AM connected to a network already I will still be connected and not disconnected when screen is off? The menu says SPECIFICALLY when to switch from wifi to mobile data...

i was under the impresion that it was NOT related to the modem, and that the wifi firmware was a "separate thing".
So far a i only seen bugs and stuff on js3. So i did flash jpy back. Works alot better.
But i use the modules from initiates on js3.

Hi everyone !
I´ve been flashing roms frequently for like a year or so, testing each and every rom released.
Ones are clearly better than others, but every developer is making a good job.
The thing is, since my last 3 flashes,i'm experiencing a HUGE battery drain once i'm over 3G network, so i'm considering flashing a STOCK rom so i can use my phone correctly.
Which is the best BASE ROM i can have ? (JPS,JPQ,JPM... 2.2 Froyo ofc).
I'm tired of flashing and reflashing things that are not working 100%, stability is VERY important.
Also, any idea of whats happening to my 3G ? My battery life is OK once i'm not using the 3G network, but once i turn it on my battery goes down like water in a waterfall.
Thanks in advance.

JPM was very stable. But you can try JPS too.

Actually, all i need is a rom that does not EAT my battery over 3G network.
I guess i've messed up my battery flashing all those roms.
Since i've already calibrated it 3 times and it still draining as much as it was before the whole process

Over 3G usage ...you will definitely get low battery, due to resource usage over the high speed network.
Try My ROM and let me know if it helps your cause ... though my ROM is based on XXJPS and have lots of battery Customization to improve performance the battery backup as well.

I dont think it is normal to have my battery drained like hell over 3G Networks...
I mean,i wasnt like that,it started someday and never stopped.
Do you think that flashing a STOCK rom would fix it ?
All i want is to be able to stay connected to 3G for like 4-5 hours, maybe more.
If i turn it on,my battery drops to ZERO in matter of minutes.
Then its time to change your battery.same thing happens with me.i have already changed so many roms...but after data network on battery drops in 10min...

Dammit !
So, what people just dont know is that flashing roms alot may ruin your battery life.
Great.
Have you changed your battery already ?

JPU is the latest and most likely will have the least bugs maybe even no bugs at all. Try it for yourself and see if it makes a big improvement
Hey guys,
i want to make this thread because i use CM instead of the Stock rom and didn't find a battery thread for it.
This thread i want to use to share battery states and improvement hints.
I'm also working on a kind of app which should help you improve your battery life.
For me it is really worth at the moment, i get almost 1% battery drain per our over night.
I will use the first posts to share important hints and statistics.
Tools:
-Wakelock Detector (to detect which wake locks keep the device awake)
-Battery Monitor (to get info's of battery - i recognize that my battery shows only 2500maH after 1 year)
-BatteryGuru (Qualcomm App which should improve battery life - in my opinion it doesn't)
Cheers

Nice Thread.. keep up man
Can anyone test this, it's from my z1c twix with some modifications ?
use FauxClock or Device Control with the same value given in init.d files !
give me feedback after 24h

Any Specific ROM requirements or Can be flashed on any CM based ROM?
Only CM11 with stock kernel
i'll found out that the wlan drains a LOT of battery and when i mean a lot it is a lot with wlan on over night lost 1%-2% per hour with wlan deactivated i lost not even 1% per hour
will look into it, compiling cm12 atm and make some kernel tweaks
don't think that the .zip will help .... the biggest difference is the govenor change from interactive to ondemand which will also cause loose a lot of perfomance

Believe me it will help a lot ! That's what i'm using from 5 or 6 months till now. I never had any battery drain with my z1c or my z2.
Try to replace your original "power_profile.xml" (when you decompile framework-res.apk) with this one. The original consume a lot of battery.

Most of the values you specify in the init.d files are redundant as they are already set.
Perhaps you should take a look at the original firmware. Where did you get your values from?

No! This changes only what is displayed. Further, the values are totally wrong. I am afraid you don't know what you are doing.
Tinkering with power_profile.xml doesn't change the battery consumption a bit!

It happens for me in all the custom and stock Rom on S2, atleast 20mins per day, sometimes it feels like throwing the phone (Heat generated while talking on the phone makes me go mad...)and buy a new one. But budget problem, so i have to live with this currently. (I have tried CleanWipe using Hawkers script[Normal Factory reset as well ], but nothing seem to work).
So, you are saying that if we change the current modem to xxlq6 modem, it will fix this heating issue ?
I've always had heating issues when I use 3G and wifi too on my S2. I've gone through CM, Neatrom, and now just installed Blackra1n's MIUI 6. The device got really hot while charging sometimes too and usually hot device = battery drain for sure. Off your wifi/3g when you're not using them I reckon!

That's weird because I also use MIUI6 from Blackra1n. Because I life in tropical country, I got 34-35°C while charging (room temperature is about 31°C at daylight). While playing games, the back cover near camera part feel hotter but still acceptable, I presume it's about 37-40°C.
Btw; on MIUI6 I tune CPU max frequency to 800MHz, governor Pegasusq, I/O both sio for internal and external storage. I'm using Kernel Adiutor with my MIUI6. The only problem is, KA settings doesn't applies when reboot.
i think i found a way to get the battery better.just do what i say.put freq of little cores on 1.2 and big cores on 1.5-1.2 and enjoy your life , i think z5 is the same with z3 plus.with (kernel adiutor) app
so how we do it give some sreenshot
