Hi
Shortly
I bought a new lcd+toch screen because the old one broke from dropping on the ground, so I bought new lcd+toch and replaced it with the old one. After that the phone booted normally, no mistakes seemed to pop up. But when it got to the 30sekond mark and the at N t logo came up it had white strips from top and logo doubled up so there was like mirrored twice, everything on the screen was doubled and it not working as it should.
Thanks ahead

Ok, so my G2 died the other day. Well, it still works great, but the screen went to white fuzz... like what you used to see when the rabbit ears on your Tube TV didnt get any reception. Static fuzz, but thats all it showed when i powered it on.
The phone, that day before it broke, was on the boat and got really hot. Once it cooled down that night this happened.
In my grand fix it fashion, i opened the phone up wrong and ripped the LCD ribbon off the screen. Blah. So I just ordered a new OEM lcd panel/touch digitizer kit from ebay.
Popped that in the phone, and behold, it booted to the LG logo!! then the logo went out. That was that, just a black screen. But the phone still was working, i can hear it boot up and receiving texts.
I tried to boot it a few more times (disconnect the battery, reconnect, boot). The LG logo comes up, then goes out.
I found out if i let the phone sit for 30min or so, it will actually boot just long enough to hit the desktop and it seems fine. But it wont respond to touch at all, then seconds later it goes black again and thats that until I let it cool.
There is nothing else apparently wrong. It just wont respond to touch at all and the screen blanks out soon after boot. Its definitely some chip heating up too much and failing. I see on the main ribbon assembly, the one that connect the LCD to the mainboard, has some chips on it... it reminds me (A LOT!) of the TCON boards on LCD TV's. When those go bad, the TV still works fine but the display is all messed up. So I ordered that assembly and it will be here in a few days... but has anyone seen this before? does that ribbon assembly really ever fail? Again, the motherboard would be the only thing left, but that does still boot and work... I haven't tried connecting it to a TV but i wouldn't be surprised if that works... it just doesnt display anything on the phone's screen.
cable assembly didnt work :/
ordered a motherboard. this will be a practically new phone by the time its working again... if ever...
SUCCESS!!!
New motherboard installed. Finally boots and works properly. Well, it sort of has to, because there wasn't much left to replace! New screen/digitizer, ribbon assembly/charger port, and motherboard!
Just did the manual lollipop update!!!!! I got my phone back!!! screw you crappy 4" backup that i hated!
I've a Moto X Pure (XT1575) which is rooted and running 6.0.1. Not exactly stock as I flashed CYMD before, had problems and returned to near stock. Two days ago I flashed LineageOS and when I turned my phone on the screen was cut perfectly in half with the right half all static. I restored the phone to a backup I'd made before the flash and the screen was fixed, while in bootloader and that the screen was normal. Then yesterday I take the phone out of my pocket and the problem is back, this time when I'm in bootloader/recovery the problem persists. Did a restore again to no avail. The touch still works on the right half of the screen just cant see anything. I've seen a few threads like this and they all say it's hardware related, which it probably is, but why would it happen straight after flashing Lineage and without dropping it since? I also had a new screen installed a few months back by a third party, not Motorola.
I've attached a picture of what it looks like.
I just logged in to post in the other thread that my replacement screen only lasted a week and I saw this.
This is my third screen.
The first replacement was because I dropped my 4 hour old phone, the second was replaced because the left side of the screen went all staticy just like your picture, and now my third screen crapped out all staticy on the right hand side after only 3 days of use. At $50+ a pop for new screens I think its time for a new phone.
They are real easy to replace though if you choose to go that route.
My old Nokia Lumia 920 had this problem too, after I upgraded it to Windows 10, but the whole screen looks like what happened to your half screen. The problem could be caught by the Lineage OS, maybe it's the kernel's problem I think...
Yea this will be my second replacement screen. Replaced the first myself but don't have the proper heat gun/glue tape myself so may pay to get it done this time. Bringing the cost up to near $100 a screen. Time for a new screen is right, just waiting to see what comes out in the next few months
So I've cracked my Moto G4 Play glass, and I had to buy a new screen. After I lift up the back cover, I disconnect the old screen and put the new one in order to test it I thought it wasn't working since it didn't light up, but right after a few seconds my bootanimation (not bootlogo) showed up and the phone booted just fine. Quality was OK, touchscreen worked great and the gosthing was minimal, so I've ended up installing it.
But before I put all the screws again, I've tried out the original screen and both bootlogo and bootloader were working normally.
I really don't care since I'll be selling this device as it looks brand new, not a single scratch on it's body, but it's really strange that a screen replacement would cause such problem. Does anyone have a clue?
Hello friend, do you speak Spanish?
So I bought a new screen for my girlfriend's old J5 2015 which she dropped on the floor and the screen just went black.
Everything seems to work because I flashed an original samsung-firmware and the phone is recognized inside Windows, so the problem seemed to be the screen.
But when I connect the new screen, it just shows a bunch of colored lines. Touch seems to work because when I scroll the screen moves, but still, I can't see anything because it only shows these lines. So I don't know if I was unlucky and bought a broken screen or can it be that something inside the phone is broken?

The fall probably broke something inside, or maybe you did not connected tge new screen good. If the phone is booting then maybe your screen connection ribbon is broke or damaged in some kind. If the motherboard or battery is damaged, the phone won't even boot.
Hi,
My dad has S5 G900F for about 3 years and never really had a problem with it. But now the screen sometimes glitches, bottom half of the screen goes black
when he's in the browser and once he moves the screen it disappears. The upper quarter sometimes duplicates itself, screen splits into 4 parts, other parts duplicate as well,
the phone freezes and then when he reboots it the screen turns into these old TV glitching errors. Once it boots up, it slowly goes down while the upper half is blacked out and his
wallpaper is showing. Photos in links.
Once it's fully rebooted and he gets through the lock screen which freezes for a moment it works just fine.
Do you have any idea what it could be? We're guessing that there could be a motherboard problem but we don't really know. It's an old phone and replacing motherboard would
literally cost more than the phone now so we're just curious.

Hiya, guess what, I had exactly the same problem with mine. Ended up replacing the screen... But before I did so, not only did I notice the screen glitching and having "snowstorms" and suddenly rebooting, parts of the screen ended up having black squares (loading animation for instance) which went away soon after but kept coming back. So now I've got a new display (got it about a week ago) everything's been fine until I noticed that black square appearing again (only briefly while the loading animation was displayed when shutting the phone down). So I think it must be a motherboard issue... Hasn't gotten as bad as it used to be though, not having any other problems... I know this isn't exactly helpful, just felt the need to post this.

It actually helped in knowing that he's not alone who had this issue. It sucks that the motherboard is slowly giving up after 3 years of use but I'll definitely tell him about replacing the screen. It's kinda cheap after years. Although he's looking for an upgrade now. But seriously thank you Hopefully it won't get worse for you.
Update 2 Dec:
The screen no longer works. It just shows TV like error although it works in the background .
