poor LTE connectivity? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi.
Is anyone else facing frequent call drops and poor LTE connectivity?
Any fix
Thanks guys

Not me. Works great on AT&T; I've been to several cities and suburban areas; no worries.

I have t mobile and live in king county Washington USA. Coverage is the worst in comparison to att or Verizon. But where there is coverage lte/LTE+/volte all work just fine.

No issues for me on Verizon in the SF Bay Area.

Straight Talk (tracfone sim...at&t) midwest, with the Ozark hills. No issues. VoLTE, LTE+ works fine.

I have TMobile in Gaston,sc I never drop unless screen goes off for a few I hot airplane mode the back to full when I turn it off

Thanks guys. Seems like a carrier issue for me then. But there are Oneplus forums filled with users complaining about the LTE connectivity. Dunno who is to be blamed.
Anyways, thank you for your time.

AT&T 3G on G1 in Brooklyn NYC?

Apparently I was down in Brooklyn the other day to visit someone, attempting to make a call I found out my normal "EDGE" icon turns to "3G", so I ran a mobile speed test and turns out I was getting 800~Kb/s. So is it possible that AT&T can actually have different frequency in some areas? I didn't have a video camera to film this atm. But if anyone want to verify it who lives near the area.. 8th Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11220
Anyway just some interesting find =) for those who can't survive without 3G speed on AT&T network for the G1, maybe you can live there
Yep Data Roaming was def on, I paid for that service! and it's not a bug, after I left that area speed returned to EDGE and I started to get like...200Kb/s to 100Kb/s again =\
Are you sure roaming was off?
hmmm.... very interesting

This has been documented before in San Francisco too. I'm guessing it's due to some roaming setup that incidentally resulted in 3G nodes also being activated for att users. It's probably not something att or tmo would advertise, as att doesn't officially have 1700AWS handsets and tmo really has no reason to push its users to att. That's just my uneducated guess.

Nexus still has this issue I gave my wife my nexus and got the Hd2 for this reason
I'm in the San Jose Area and I don't have that problem.
same problem here in Olympia. went to the store to see what was up and the awesome clerks were more confused then i was
I'm not experiencing any issues like that here in Virginia Beach, VA. Sorry to hear about that, I know it would frustrate me!
Same city, Constant 3G at home but there are some areas of San Jose that I notice no signal or very weak signal. T-Mobile Store on Curtner for example.
same problems in Denver.
lost my tethering connection a few times due to this. I forced it to just the GSM/EDGE band, it's more reliable, but is SLOOOW.

has anyone tried a different radio ROM yet?
nope. and no word as to if the 2.09.51.03 radio works on the stock rom.

I'm wandering if the other 3g mobile devices of tmobile have this..
Seems like Nexus One issue
I have the same issue, fluctuating from 3 bar 3G to 3-4 bar edge.
From what I read on other forums Nexus one seems to have had the same issue on TMo network. I am not sure if it is resolved yet.
I am kinda having the problem but I was told because they are about to launch HSDPA in my area so they have been turning it on and off alto so its messing with my reception and going from E to 3G to H and back and forth

TMobile Nexus vs AT&T Nexus One and vice-versa

Hello everybody.
The reason for this question and poll is to have an idea of the 3G signal issue on this phone.
Are you having 3G problems with your AT&T-Rogers?Problems with your TMobile Nexus One?
Which one is working better for you? That is the main question.
Let us know.
Thanks community.
How does the question you're asking help you tell anything at all about 3G issues on either phone?
I'm having zero issues with my ATT N1. Its getting speeds about the same my Tilt 2 was. Around this area, ATT is king, Tmobile is garbage.
I haven't had problems with either my t-mobile or at&t nexus ones, although my at&t version gets less battery life than my t-mobile one did. My friend has the t-mobile version and seems to have some 3g issues at her house.

Are you sure T-Mobile is really 'garbage?' Their coverage map shows good voice coverage and 3G data in Hagerstown, MD.
From what I've seen, their coverage maps don't tend to 'lie' either.
Its coverage not the phone... I accidentally hit I have a 3g issue before reading. But I don't, only when in crappy coverage but all my phones do that so no problem with tmobile
well that was stupid of me, i thought this poll was for which phone works better for you....LOL so i clicked on ATT
No problems witht the ATT one and when i had the tmobile days before the ATT came out, i could never get a 3g signal in my house and cant get full when outside.
But i think those are issues with the coverage/service provider not the phone.
I live in the upper left corner of Ohio. According to both coverage maps, the best I can do is edge.... So anyone here from Ohio like to comment please?

Verizon Signal Strength/reliability

Hey all,
I've seen a few posts regarding signal problems on TMO and Sprint, but not much on Verizon.
How is your guys' experience on VZW?
Works good for me on Verizon. I don't live in a big city, but I never lose service and I get over 100mbs dowload speeds in certain areas over LTE.
Been using mine on Verizon for a week now and no issues so far. It works everywhere any other device i have used works.
PH-1 reception in my house in mid-peninsula SF Bay Area is non-existent. Meanwhile the Galaxy 7, Galaxy 5, iPhone 5, and iPhone 7 all get decent enough signal here. No matter how good the phone otherwise, that's a deal killer.
Update: the phone continues to frustrate. Reception sucks even in the heart of towns here where other phones are just fine. Basically, the phone is useless except as a pretty iPod that takes cool 360 pictures. What a shame.
What's a good app to test download speeds?
I live in upstate NY. Literally in a gorge.i get the same or better service than my HTC 10 and the WiFi is way better. Don't need WiFi calling anymore.
I'm also in upstate NY. I get extremely fast speeds on wifi but lte seems pretty slow. What network settings are you all using??

Just took this. Remember, there isn't any carrier aggregation. That can make it worse.

I'm getting LTE+ carrier aggregation in the Hickory, NC area. I've seen download speeds as high as 28 Mbps, although I've only been on Verizon 2 days now and I've only ran a few speed tests.
I recently ported my number to Verizon from T-Mobile because I was one of those who was experiencing connectivity issues with T-Mo. For me this phone works much better on Verizon than T-Mo. The phone I have now is a replacement. The first one constantly dropped cellular connections and with it I never saw LTE+ on T-Mo not even once. With the new replacement phone it showed up at times closer to Hickory but Verizon seems to have it everywhere around here.

That's funny actually, right after I took that, I went to lte discovery app, and saw that I was on band 4 & 13 . It's not " supposed " to work...lol
I'm using Xfinity which is Verizon and works fine on the SF Bay Area but since I'm using Xfinity and not Verizon proper, I don't see the option for enhanced LTE...
I got this on Verizon on the way into work this morning.

That's good. We don't have those kind of speeds around here. 28-34 is normal for Verizon lte here.
My download speeds are only averaging 7 mbps on lte on Verizon in NY.
Which bands are you all using?? I left mine on the default and not sure if that'd make a difference.
I tried a few others with not much difference
This is my 3rd replacement. The first one didn't activate, the second overheated and now the 3rd seems to be working well. What I noticed on the 3rd one after reading the forums is the ceramic I'd alittle grippier than the last one which was smooth like glass. The 2nd one was smooth like glass. Before I did the replacement I also weighed it by hand because I read somewhere the new replacements have alittle more weight to it and it did. It was noticeable.
As far as signal. It seems to be on par with my m9. I was surprised I got 117mbps in my town which is in Shentel territory for Sprint but so far everything works great

Hit and Miss
Mine has been iffy since I "officially" added it to my Verizon account (I initially just pulled the SIM from my Pixel, and plopped it in my Essential - Worked like a champ, then I replaced my Pixel with my Essential with customer service, over the phone, and after reboot, it has been hit or miss (it was 3G from the time I hung up with Verizon, until I finished driving from Vegas to SLC). I messed with the carrier settings, and it was LTE+ for a day, then back to no signal the next morning.
Some days 3G is the best I can get, others LTE+ works fine, and some days, 1X or no signal. I've tried changing the settings from Global, to LTE, to LTE/WCDMA to what ever else looked okay). Today, it's been LTE+ most of the day.

Bad Network

I love my 6t it is blazing, The problem I'm having is my signals and data speeds since upgrade from op3. Normally I would average -55 to -80 Max, that's with cloudy sky's bad weather. I live in between the 2 largest cities in the state of Louisiana, Signals are blazing fast normally. I don't know if it's just the radio of the 6t but it's horrible these are my screenshots standing outside in my driveway.

No dropped calls it hangs for about a second when dialing. the problem is data, at&t and TMobile says I'm not throttled an no bad network congestion. According to them my speeds should be above 20mbps and higher but I'm lucky to get 1.2mbps.

It's AT&T network my friend. I'm using Verizon with 0 issue while traveling.
Let me back up my statement: my friend often can't load YouTube, while I video chat with my family members while traveling together in a car.

Yes it does, at&t and TMobile say nothing is wrong. Something is wrong if I drop from 30+Mbps to Barely 2 Mbps.

Never had issues with at&t or my TMobile service before, what is strange is the data speeds being identical. That has never happened my TMobile service always been faster than my at&t service. I'll have time this weekend to root and play around with network guru to lock bands see if that's helps.

Or try to go to a different carrier shop and ask if you can test out their speeds. See if it makes a difference. Compare it to the employees that work there. If yours is still slow, maybe you have a faulty device.

Im thinking the bands could be locked to one instead of connecting to multiple bands. I hope it's not faulty device but it is worth a shot, I have TMobile service and at&t and they are the same speed for some reason. My TMobile speeds range from 50-70Mbps and at&t 30-45Mbps, Both are locked at 1.2Mbps. I use at&t service for work and TMobile for Personal use. I have the 13 Model so I could test with Verizon.

Let's say it isn't the network. The next step would be to get a new sim card. If that doesn't work, ask your provider to set up your OP6T as a LTE only device.
Well I managed to fix my problem with my network, rooted check network guru everything was fine all bands worked. So I googled stock files flash via fastboot all is good now. Both my networks are back to normal, guess it was just something with the radio. :good:
