I just put a new rom on my MT3G and it has the swipe down to unlock feature. I want to know if there is anyway to get rid of that feature as i use a screen password anyways. It's very annoying to have to swipe down or press menu twice just to get to the password.
I did some searching but couldn't find anything directly related to this.
idk if this would even help, but i was runnin the hero roms that had that feature, and i didnt like it either, all i did was press menu to wake phone up, and when it shows the screen to unlock (slide down) i would just press menu again and it unlocks it...

I'm assuming you're using a hero rom, I dunno if this works but doesn't hurt to try! go to system/app/ and find htc-lockscreen.apk or whatever it is and delete the file. do a nandroid incase something goes wrong
and oh goodness, I just realized this thraed was created 10 days ago lol hope it stil helps though.
Hi,
its my second day with HTC Legend..
I love it, its totaly nice but i just have a quistion !
is there any way to give all keys the ability to wake up the device
then i touch the screen to unlock it ? i think it would be better than
waking up device by pressing Power key ! and it will save power key
pressing counts..
in other way the screen is already locked and we have to unlock it
after waking up the device !
so, Why not to "wake up" the Legend by pressing any key ?
i want to know why they did not put this option
and if there is any way to fix it ...
Thanks..
Hey man, had the same issue myself and a free app in the market fixed it.
Search nolock and grab it up

Check out the NeonMod or Azure ROMs. Both have the ability to wake screen using the trackball button or menu button.

HELP ME PLEASE !!!
There should be an app called Market. Android Market. It's where you go to download apps, which is the whole point of smartphones

hey ! i installed NoLock and its just disabling or enabling the HTC Lock screen , but still cant wake up the device by pressing other keys except Power key !! ...
I want any way, app or trick just to allow me wake up the device without power key, and i dont want to disable the "htc locked screen"
Please help me..
thanks all
Could you finally access the Android Market? If not, tap the screen on that left soft buton (the one with the small arrow) and a list with all installed apps will pop up.
Search for an icon called Market with an icon like a bag (someting like the one attached)
After pressing it you'll enter in "the market". Look for an application (you have a search at the top of the screen) called FlyScreen. It's a screen locking utility that brings you something similar to Froyo one, with lots of options (including placing widgets on the lockscreen). Besides that, press on any device buton to wake it up then slide it to unlock. The only bug I've found was that pressing Home buton wil give you the homescreen instantly, without the need to unlock the device.
Let me know if it's ok for you
no market in my device and noway to install it, i tried everything its something with software policy in some areas, and my phone is not rooted , i dont wanna break the warranty
Did anyone ever find a way - other than installing a custom ROM - to do this? It sounds like NoLock just enables/disables the lockscreen, and what I (and the OP) want is to be able to wake the screen up with the home or trackball button.
Any ideas?
Cheers
did you find any way ? am still looking but nothing found !
and i dont wanna root my phone..
it almost be impossible in a simple way without modifying "/system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl" file. But modifying this file requires real root or recovery mode.

Weird, because I was using No Lock and it removed lock screen and gave me an option to wake my Legend with press on any key. It basically wasn't a good idea, since I pressed vol up/down by accident far too many times.
The no lock app works. No lock and wakes up on any key including the volume keys (not a good idea). The widget solves my problem though. I keep it unlocked when at work, but keep it locked otherwise. Doing it manually now.
Would love an app that can do it automatically
Guys, I told you that you can use FlyScreen for what you need. For those who don't have access to the Android Market, I've found a topic on this forum that has also link to download the .APK from MegaUpload (you find the link HERE)
With this small application, you're replacing the default lockscreen and also you can wake the phone by pressing any hard button not only power. The drawback is that pressing Home, will get you on the homescreen without need for unlock. Test it if you like, anyhow the application is free.
Yeah, I got flyscreen but I can't figure out how to make it work.
When I enable "Lockscreen mode", every time I go to unlock my phone I get a "Please wait" message before I can actually unlock it. Even though I don't have any widgets on Flyscreen.
Does this happen with you?
No, for me worked from the beginning without any problems. I've initially used the weather widget but the red color was hurting my eyes so I've disabled it.
I don't know what advice to give, there are plenty of settings to try and you should also check their homepage for tips.
Hey all! I have a problem with my unlock slider on the unlockscreen! When i slide it a bit it dont shows the text "unlock" on it. Could someone help me please?!

It's an error in custom animations I have uploaded, since I haven't created animations I can't fix it, but if its bothering you so much, you can flash stock animations just for lockscreen, it should fix it.

I wasn't aware that the problem was with the custom animations... good to know.... but I don't think that the problem is really severe enough to pay much mind to it.
I'm moving this to General because it's not really development related.
Not sure this is on topic but i'll give it a go.
My phone has just updated to 2.2.1 (thanks vodafone) and now has a new unlock screen when it first wakes up. This involve two sliders, one that appears to be a screen unlock, and the other something to do with silent/volume.
The phone unlock would e good, if i couldn't just press the menu button a second time to achieve the same end. Can the menu button be cancelled, in order to make the unlock bar useful?
Also, is the other slider bar customisable?
Failing this, is there anywhere that actually goes through all of the main changes, so I can educate myself?
Cheers, Steve

Sounds like your using the newest Cyanogen 6.1.0 rom.
That's all customizable in Settings > Cyangenmod Settings

I can't find anything under settings about Cyangenmod but my system info says:-
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband 62.50sj.20.17u_2.22.28.25
kernal 2.6.32.9-27237-gbe746fb
build number FRG83D
Does this narrow it down?
If it helps, settings wallpapers, does not then send me off to animated wallpapers. So maybe it's not a full 2.2.1 because vodafone realise that they stripped out too much memory/cpu originally that its not man enough to run some stuff.
Cheers.

I don't know then, it's just a standard Vodafone Magic, with latest upgrade to version 2.2.1.
It's not rooted or anything. Just out of the box.

Okay, after re-reading your post I now understand that you're just using plain stock. No custom rom. The sliding bars are not customizable.
I still don't understand what you are asking regarding the Menu button.

I am just confused. Put it this way. In order to wake up the phone and start using it, I press the menu button. This opens up the unlock screen, cool.
Here's the problem, do I now move my thumb from the menu button and swipe it across the screen to unlock my phone..........or do I just press the menu button again. It does the same thing. So what is the point of the unlock swipe?

I suppose depending on the circumstances it might be easier to press a button that you can feel than something on a touchscreen that you can't.
There have been times when I have been wearing my gloves at work that the touchscreen doesn't respond to well while wearing them. However hitting the menu button works fine for exiting the lock screen.
How's that for an acceptable answer?
It would be awesome if sombody posts how to do it with rooted Nexus 4 and without any additional apps. I mean to do it on true *nix-way - console
Many people need it for security reason, I guess. I digged the file at /system/usr/keylayouts, but cant find what I need to do.
Below are the lines from logcat when long press the power button on locked screen and "power menu" appears.
Code:
W/ViewRootImpl( 1385): Dropping event due to no window focus: KeyEvent { action=ACTION_DOWN, keyCode=KEYCODE_POWER, scanCode=116, metaState=0, flags=0
x8, repeatCount=3, eventTime=11458677, downTime=11458075, deviceId=1, source=0x101 }
How do you mean disable power button? It's hardware?
Why would you want to do that. How would you get back to your lock screen?

I think OP want disable power off menu when phone is locked
RolF2 you're totally right.
Sorry guys, I wasn't clear enough.
I want to disable the power menu button when the screen is locked to prevent "some thief" to switch the phone off.
And in other cases it should work as it does now.
UPD: I know Gravity Box can do it. But my phone has ART running which denies to serve Xposed.
I mean the phone is rooted, encrypted, the password is changed with "vdc changepw", bootloader is re-locked, cerberus is installed and now such kind of little thing (power menu) ruins the full security ))).
I dunno the under workings of how to disable the power menu in the lockscreen but there are some ROMs that have it built in into settings. AICP, Beanstalk, Cataclysm, and Purity have this option. I'm a Purity user and it works well. Cerberus don't work when the phone's off. LoL.

P.S. I prefer stock ROM.
Any update/news of a code that can be used to disable the power menu from the kernel level?
That would be great.

To say "a bit paranoid" is to say nothing in my case. )))
But without jokes, this feature is very needed. As one of us said it here before: Cerberus won't work when the phone is switched off.
