Hello, i'm currently on Mi A2 and i was really look forward upgrade to Redmi Note 7 Pro, but since there is no Global version for Pro my question is pretty simple.
Is it worth upgrade from mine Mi A2 to Redmi Note 7 or keep it for now and wait for another possible device?
Anyone who can tell actually difference? Because on paper devices look almost identical expect camera and if its really worth only because of camera. I mean Mi A2 with gcam have really good results.
Thanks for any advice!
I suggest you to wait for another better device, RN7 isn't that much difference as I hold the device in my hands now, the camera doesn't act like a real 48MP camera, so.. if you are confused you can watch the phone's reviews on YouTube and then make your final decision

Hi,
I am pretty new to the Xiaomi- and especially to the Mediathek-world. This is why I have this noob question :silly:
Is the Redmi Pro currently the top smartphone by Xiaomi, at least hardware-wise?
Of course, besides Mi5/S, which run the SD 820/821...
Or is e.g. the Note 4 the stronger device, or any other? As far as I know, the Redmi-line is more a budget-thing, right?
Thx for any info on this! :highfive:
Best
P
Redmi Pro is known as the Xiaomi Redmi's flagship and that means It is the strongest of the Redmi's even that it is Mediatek powered . mediatek disadvantage is that they does not release sources (which is needed for compiling custom roms and kernels) and the Snapdragon release its sources thats because snapdragon devices are the most wanted and that means bigger price but weaker phone. redmi pro's helio x20 or x25 is compared to snapdragon 810 and and its very close to sd 820. Redmi note 4 has the same chip (x20) but isnt better than redmi pro.Redmi note 4 PRO has a sd652 and that means it has more development for that device.
If you want a phone with a lot development buy redmi note 4 PRO --- if you want a stronger phone buy REDMI PRO.
PS: the best xiaomi for now is MI MIX (the bezelles device
Thank you very much! My times of ROM-hopping are over...my current S7 is not even rooted...so I guess the Redmi Pro will be my first try on the chinese devices (Huawei P9 would be interesting, too, but I am searching for a bigger phone)
I have checked the Mix, it looks gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on this, but the price is far from what I invest in smartphones normally...
So, next step is checking the int. Xiaomi-ROM for the Pro, how to install and what to expect...
The best xiaomi device now is mi5, mi mix, mi note 2.
S7 has much better camera. Redmi Pro is not considered as flagman.
Xiaomi has better models like Mi5.
Even so I would prefare Redmi Pro because of OLED display.
But now Im having trouble with flashing ROM as it doesn't has official global vertion. So you need to apply for unlock bootloader and wait. Some people wait more than 10 days.
It's a good phone but with some really annoying hang ups. ( performance in general is good to very good with occasional lag due to bad core switching, screen is nice although a tad dim for outdoor use, build quality is great)
First of all the camera is a complete waste of time and this appears to be a software issue as the sensor it's self is capable of taking decent photographs. But it's honestly one of the worst smart phone cameras I've used and I've used a lot.
If you've ever used a blackberry in 2010-2011 that's the sort of quality so expect only at higher resolutions.
Second of all Xiaomi appears to have abandoned further development for the device ( no news on 7.0)
Also its missing wireless n support which is just weird, doesn't bother me oh so much as I rarely transfer files over WiFi but still an odd omission.

He said the flagship for the xiaomi redmi series not xiaomi mi series
Hello guys,
I need your honest opinion.
I need to get a new device. I only use blackberry old phone at this moment.
I am thinking of mi 6 or mi A1? Which one do you think is better?
I am thinking a1 for the price and stock android (what I love with oneplus before) but I like also to have snapdragon 835 and EIS for camera.
EIS also affect the quality of normal photos or videos only? I have shaky hands by the way.
Please advice.
Pricing:
mi a1 = 749 aed
mi 6= 1399 aed
Thanks guys
isn't one plus 5 vs mi 6 a better comparison.
i agree however oneplus 5 is out because of my budget
The A1 is easy to unlock bootloader and root. After that you can enable EIS in the build prop and install ported Google cam with HDR+. It's excellent.
The SD625 actually performs quite well on the A1. It may not be as fast as an 835, but it's always smooth and probably more battery friendly.
MI6 has NFC I think, which the A1 doesn't so that could be something to consider.
For the price, stock android AND a great camera, you just can't go wrong with the A1 imo.
Hi, no i have mi note 4 (i like miui), but my display is broken. I want buy new phone (i like stock android too).
What is better, note 4 or a1. Is photo quality better on a1?
Photo qualizty is may be better on note bat that is may be just because samsung has addons for photo app. Here you does not have two way cam and other addons. All araund much better phone and you will forget abaut charging all the time. I charge mi a1 over night and just two times araund 12PM batery was on 15% Note 4 is good phone bat old phone big and fat. I‚m happy with my mi a1.

xiaomi redmi note 4 or xiaomi a1
Surely its your choice. Both the phones share same SOC and memory. While Note 4 may be upgraded to miui 9,android 7.1 , it surely not going to be updated anymore. Wherein in coming week A1 will be upgraded to Oreo and further android P as well. Also being a stock android device it would be getting the love of dev community se well. Miui looks beautiful to some and crappy to more. I as my personal choice consider stock over miui. That's why I choose op3 over mi5 while mi 5 had better camera then op3 but because oxygen os was close to stock
So it is ur own choice.
Also I forgot to mention . A1 has better camera with more features those we are going to use in Oreo using magisk
Hello everyone, I'm intending buying a new phone in the Middle range prices and after some researches i sticked to this 2 choices: Mi A1 and Redmi 5 Plus, i'm not fascinated by the 18:9 aspect ratio, i'm just looking for handy Value for money phone especially in terms of future supporting by developers.
what do you think?
After my Redmi 4 Prime i can say you one thing..
NEVER BUY A REDMI PHONE.
Redmi Note and Mi series are ok.

Buy Redmi Note 5 pro
Few weeks back, my biggest headache was to choose between the A1 or Redmi Note 4. Both phone are great, and of course the rn4 has big battery. And undoubtedly, the rn4 developer support is really really great. Unlike Mi A1 right now, well, there is development going but..hmm..
The rn5 looks nice with that 18:9 screen.. not sure bout how will the dev support be for that device tho. Anyhow, loving my A1 :victory:
Easily redmi 5 or 5 plus. Mi A1 is good but the redmi will probably be so much supported on xda and that 18:9 display is gorgeous. And the battery!
It really depends on the taste of android u want. Mi a1 offers pure stock vanilla Android just like in Google pixels and redmi note 5 offers miui a heavily skinned custom Ron with loads of features.
Also mi a1 has dual camera for portrait mode shots and redmi note 5 doesn't ( I suppose). If u are a big fan of the latest updates offered by Google then mi a1 is the way to go.

Since Mi A1 didn't get any stable custom roms yet even though Xiaomi releases the Kernel Source, i'm afraid the developers left this device!
Hopefully redmi 5 and 5 plus get Xda developers Support, but till now no independent
thread for both of them

I'm still in this headache!
developer support for the phone is a MUST!
I was going to buy Meizu M6 note... same Mi A1 price and defiantly beats it specially with both Cameras, but since it doesn't have any Supporting i left it!

If developer support is a must for you, then I guess you should wait for xiaomi to release rn5 pro kernel sources and then get that phone. The A/B partition in the A1 might be one of the reasons why the A1 have not been getting much love..

Go for Redmi Note 5 Pro period.!
I have the Meizu m6 note and it's a great.
Great battery, good camera, no lag, but also no development either.
I have the Redmi 5 plus on order and had hoped it would be here by now. Ordered it January 29.
Hopefully it is supported.

IMO, since the 18:9 screen doesnt fancy you, then it comes to camera vs battery. A1 for camera and R5+ for battery.

According to camera comparisons, Redmi Note 5 has a vastly better camera even though it's single vs dual.
Not much seems to be going for A1 unforunately, except Oreo.
actually i was about to buy mi a2 but after i heard about that xioami app camera is trash and with google app you get very impressive results
so now
is the improvement that googel app makes to mi a1 camera makes it worth buying over mi a2 ? espically mi a2 has no headphone jack and no sd card slot which makes me thinking over and over ... is there a huge difference btw mi a2 in camera that makes it worth buying or mi a1 with google app camera makes it slight difference ??
You can go for Redmi note 5 AI instead and use google camera with it, if Android One isn't mandatory.
Google camera is the best choice, Xiaomi stock camera app is trash, I mean, it's OK in good lightning condition, but in darker situations it is trash.
Go for Redmi Note 5, it is better choice than Mi A1 and it's newer. A2 is great too, don't know if someone made working Gcam for Mi A2, if yes then buy Mi A2, but it doesn't have 3.5mm jack if thats important to you
Or if Android One is the trick, check the Nokia lineup... definitely after the time Xiaomi took to release updates, plus the lack of support for GCam, my next phone will be a Nokia (I do want Android one, and they have a better track record for updates).

I thought about a nokia too but actually there's only one device that can be unlocked without a signature (key) binary and that's the nokia x6 (6.1 plus/sd630). Not sure about unofficial ways but nokia closed the doors via august OTA. Also it has a notch.
