My phone is MOTO X PLAY XT1562 2gb dual sim variant. For trying out custom rom i unlocked the bootloader, installed twerp and flashed the custom rom. But for some reasons I hated it and tried to revert back to the stock rom. So I downloaded a rom for my XT1562 and flashed it and locked my bootloader. The fastboot screen shows that the bootloader is locked with status code 2. But still unlocked bootloader warning appears. I just need to know the explanation of the Firmware naming so that i can find the exact firmware for my device and flash it properly. Or anyone please find me the stock rom for my device. I'll provide my phone's information if required.

I unlocked my phone to install CyanogenMod. I know how to get the stock firmware back on, but I don't know how to re-lock the bootloader so that it doesn't show "Custom" on the boot screen with the unlocked padlock. Does anyone have a link/guide for doing this?

stock firmware for Canadian SGH-I337M
stock firmware for AT&T SGH-I337
p.s. I searched with keyword "stock" to find these....
p.p.s. you won't be "re-locking" the bootloader. this re-installs stock recovery, kernel and ROM. it will say Samsung Official. we do not have a way to lock or unlock the bootloader. it either is locked or unlocked depending on which variant you have.
i have galaxy s4 i9505 and i want to know if i need to unlock the bootloader in order to instal custom rom(cyanogen).the phone is in stock condition(not rooted no roms or anything)ive checked the first 10 pages of google results and some guides say i if i dont unlock the bootloader i will brick the phone and some say i dont need to unlock it.i searched this forum aswell but i just end up with 100 tabs open and still cant find my answer.
The only thing you need to do is this. Install TWRP using Odin, then flash your ROM using TWRP. The only mention of locked bootloaders comes if you own an AT&T or Verizon Galaxy S4. Those two models have a locked bootloader that cannot be unlocked, and attempts to change the bootloader on those devices have led to soft bricks which can be resolved by flashing the correct bootloader in the BL slot in Odin.
The phone's bootloader is probably locked. It has never been unlocked, and I believe model SM-G900M was sold with the bootloader locked. (I tried to check if the bootloader is indeed locked, but fastboot did not detect the phone.)
I understand that in this scenario there is currently no way to root an S5, right?
It appears that the only way to go is to perform an Android downgrade. I would have to use Odin to flash a stock 4.4 ROM (is this correct?), then I would be able to root the phone with towelroot, unlock the bootloader and install flashfire on my device. Does this sound like a doable approach?
Suggestions/advice very much appreciated.
Thanks!
I've rooted and flashed ROMs on several phones but this is my first time on a Samsung device. When I did this in the Moto X Pure I had to unlock the bootloader before installing TWRP and flashing a ROM, but I'm not sure if I need to unlock my bootloader in this phone since I already flashed TWRP and rooted through ODIN.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to flash a new ROM? (TWRP installed and phone is rooted)
The phone is a SM-G900F running stock 6.0.1 btw
No.
Hi all. Long story short, trying to fix this phone up for a relative. I used the bootloader unlock to unlock it (it's a VZW variant). After, I flashed a CM14 nightly build. Shortly after, I purchased a new phone and it basically got put away in early 2016 if I remember correctly.
Well, yesterday, I tried wiping and flashing a rom called SkiesROM to it, which failed to boot after the AROMA setup. After, I tried flashing a QA1 stock rooted ROM which has also failed to boot and won't do anything except boot loop when it gets to the red verizon logo.
In short, I want to figure out how to get this phone working again on ANY Android version with TWRP. I don't know what version of firmware I'm on now. I don't know what bootloader version it is now. All I know is that I can access TWRP when I want to. I assume that gives me an edge in flashing whatever I need to flash on it.
I forgot that I needed to be on certain levels of firmware to change ROMs on this phone, so I think that's where I messed up and now I don't know how to backtrack and get into any working ROM. Can someone help me please?
TL;DR: I can get into TWRP. I don't know what firmware or bootloader version this thing is on. It's a VZW variant that I bootloader unlocked but I don't know if it's still bootloader unlocked. I want to boot this thing on any stable ROM even if it's a stock one. Please help me.
You can flash latest rom at https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/update-qi2-t3688046 with Odin and then reflash TWRP with Odin. Just make sure you flash the Dev Friendly version of the Rom so you don't lose your unlocked boot loader status.
If you can eat to recovery did you not back up your current ROM? Always back up always I bricked S7 before lol learned my lesson on that one but now on s5 mini so playing around is great but any more help you need if I can help mm
