I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a while, but i haven't succeeded into this research. Does anyone knows a way to install vendor's app on any other android? (specifically i would like to install samsung Smart Things app on my OP6T)
I've never rooted a phone, but i'm open also to this route if is necessary.

Rooted my Bravo today with SuperOneClick, worked like a charm, and appears to be permanent (after several reboots). This is my first smart phone, so it's all new to me, but so far, so good.
New to smartphones myself. I was heavy in motomodding years back but this is new game for me. I still have yet to find a good noob tutorial (step by step) for installing non-markets (in particular sirius-xm app). I have rooted with S1C, but now what? I know , that's what the search forum button is for. I've done that, but all I find are mid-level talk, and not idiot(me)speak. I'll keep watching for examples. Thanks.
Once I got the phone rooted, I was relying on the SideLoad Wonder Machine I found on another site (lets you install .apk files through a point-and-click interface), but it failed to install several apps. Then I found out how to do it using ADB from the command line and so far, everthing I've tried has installed with no problem. I'm only semi-geeky, and I can grok what I've had to thus far. I started out at the command line in DOS 3.3 back in 1988, so delving into this has not been too hard. Kinda fun, actually.
Tomorrow I'll post up step by step instructions on how I did it the noon way. You have to buy an app called Root Explorer that gives you access to write on system files
Thanks alot. I will say the SWM program has worked great so far for installing nonmarkets. Very easy to use. Now I just need to learn how to remove all the dead weight and I'll be happy. I will say that the Sirius-xm app is VERY CPU intensive, so multitasking is difficult. Hoping removing uneeded processes will relieve some of the strain.
I'd love to be able to get rid of some of the bloatware apps that came with this phone, if for no other reason than to make it more 'mine.' The stock browser, Latitude, Mobile Video, Media Share, Social Networking (ack!) all gotta go.

I have rooted and enabled non market apps via super one click 1.5.5. To get rid of bloatware I downloaded bloat freezer from the market. It does not totally remove them from the phone but freezes them from running in the back ground or appearing in the app drawer. It's 1.99 in the market I had to email the dev because it forced closed when I opened it but he was awesome about getting me a working version. Worth every penny. I wanted to freeze it because it gives you the option to defrost if you want. I think I read somewhere if you delete the stock apps from the phone it keeps you from updating to 2.2 or any other version of android in the future (if one is ever released for this phone). Although I may be wrong about that.
Chagla- You can find the link to rooting instructions on this site, but in a nutshell, I downloaded and installed the Moto USB drivers on my Win7 64-bit desktop machine, enabled USB Debugging on the Bravo (Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging (checked), downloaded and ran One Click Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304), and that was it. Now, what I'd REALLY like to try is some custom ROMs on this phone, but as yet know of none that will safely work on it. Good luck!

Never got the chance to try it. By the time I was ready to try rooting, that app was no longer available on the Market, and then I found Super One-Click, which worked on my first attempt.
First off I am running lolipop and have been working to find a way to disable bloatware that you don't want. I can't root as I'm on a att s5 lolipop...
finally found out how to get those apps that can't be disabled disabled.
Instructions:
1. Find the app that your wanting to dissable... let's say for example My Magazine.
by default in lolipop this app can't be disabled without root... frown face.. bad day...
2.Search for an apk file online for that app you want to disable.
And install it.
3. Here's what happens now... since you just updated the system app yourself, you now have permissions over it.
So to disable the app go to app manager and look under downloaded. You will notice that now the app that previously could not be disabled... now can be. You also have the option to Uninstaller the update... update only unfortunately but oh well.
Now you have just succusfully disabled My Magazine or what ever other system app that can't be disabled.
If you need any help just ask.

Nice idea, but sometimes it may not work. Now i have no idea as to why My Magazine worked but when installing other system apps it is bound to meet a signature conflict if the apps are the same version and completely untouched by any third party. If a signature conflict appears it will be impossible to install that system app manually.
I have only seen this phenomenon on S2 and therefore i have no idea if the same principles are embedded in the S5 but just a tip if a signature conflict ever appears while trying this method.

If you modify an apk file you will need to create your own signature when recompiling, android won't like two of the same apps (same package names) but with two different signatures and the modified apk file wont be installed.
So try your method as long as it goes. who knows, maybe you wont encounter a signature conflict.
As long as the app is disabled a signature conflict shouldn't matter tho right? Because the app is disabled and all?

In app manager I have orion to uninstal the update so if something does happen I'll remove it
You seem to know a good bit maybe you can help me with something.
Is there a way I could take
expample.apk version 1.0 and edit it somehow and trick it and or android into thinking it's say version 1.1
This would allow me to install the same version over what I have now.. then perhaps be able to disable it..

Hi I have NewsOn apk working on my AFTS but I can't get the application to work on a coworkers AFTS. Can I copy and paste files from my device to another so that NewsOn will work the same as on my device?
The problem is NewsOn requires Google services, which I somehow was able to install on my device but can't get it to install and run on my buddy's.

In the tech world - dependancies are nothing that you just shrug off.
If the app needs the Google Services Framework, it needs the google services framework. And it will always ask for it - ad nausium, and probably quit if it doesnt find it.
On Android in general - an easy way to copy apps and its settings ("save data") from one device to another one is Titanium Backup.
You need root to use it - btw. That are other "cloud backup solutions" that don't require root per se, all of those arent very good. Without root you run into severe limitations with restoring app data. Because of the android security framework (one app isn't allowed to write data into another apps data folder).
But that doesn't help you one bit - if the app requires a Google framework thats on your device, but not on your "buddies".

It seems like there's always a catch or a road block to work around in the "Android World".
This problem I'm faced with, doesn't it seem like there has to be an achievable fix?
Im just not on that level to know exactly why or pin point what I did that gave me the ability
to use an app that from what I kind of understood isn't possible to install on a non rooted fire stick.
Isn't there a method I've must have unknowingly performed that enabled me to use NewsOn?
Or could it just be a glitch or fluke?
I haven't heard or found anything on the web indicating someone has installed an app on a non rooted fire stick that requires Google services in order to function.
What's your or anyone elses opinion on this?

I was able able to install and get working NewsOn on a Firestick Gen 2 without root. Installed NewsOn (Apps2fire) then dumped my Google Play and Play Services from my phone (apk manager +) and used apps2fire to install them on the Firestick too. BINGO! Unfortunately I can NOT get it working on Fire TV Box using the same method..

I have used the search feature on this forum trying to find a solution but I don't think there's a thread for it. Im trying to install the showbox app. So I clicked the let unverified apps download button. We're good there. Now after I download it I go to file manager and try to install it, but when I click the install button the phone doesn't do anything. Almost as if it's not registering the touch to the install button on the screen. Tons of people have had these issues. Many other forums and videos say to uninstall or close out your screen filter apps or screen apps. I have no such apps. Version 4.95 and older I have all tried, the same thing happens. . Any Insight on how I can get this app installed please let me know. And if there is a thread send me a link. Thanks.

try with a file manager such as root browser maybe?
@BrewCrew94!!, since you mentioned the Install button that means you made it to the Package Installer so we can rule out the ROM's file manager.
You don't say what ROM you're running. For a time there was a package installer bug that plagued some ROMs. That was eventually fixed though.
If it is an overlay problem there could be something missed that's blocking the install button. Even a ROM's built-in appbar could do that.
You could maybe try Install Button Unlocker from the Play Store. If that helps then there is an overlay issue somewhere. If not, then not sure at this point.

Standard problem, when some kind of overlay app is installed as many of those use the top layer of overlays.
Every button on a deeper layer does not work in this case.
Thanks for the responses! OK so on my axon 7 I haven't a clue about what rom I am running. Nothing custom so I'm assuming I am running the latest version. I recently downloaded MI Favor. I could Check the settings later. I found a solution to the problem by creating a new user on the phone and strictly only downloaded it. It works through the file manager but doesn't work on my main phone user with all my apps. I heard of the overlay issues but I couldn't figure out what the problem app could be.
I mentioned that Install Button Unlocked app, well, I think that publisher has a companion app to identify overlays. There are others like that also. Maybe one of those can help ID what's blocking the installs.

Hello new here and while I have done some searches I am not quite finding what I am looking for which is maybe because I am not asking the right questions or searching for the right terms so hopefully someone can direct me to the right place!
I have an old Galaxy Grand Prime Sm-G530W running Android 5.1.1. It has 8gb storage and I would like to maybe remove some of the apps that I wont use, are not useful or are just bloatware.
However I am not sure what apps are what and which one I should avoid removing?
The phone will be used primary to make calls, will not be on a data and only use free wifi hotspot and the wife from my home.
I would like to maybe keep some kind of google maps ability, I do not want chrome but rather would use firefox along with ad blockers etc I know work well for me on FF.

Hello member of this small community, well the best way to remove bloatware is by root, the process is relatively simple.
1) Download the twrp recovery (.tar) belonging to the model you have.
2) Install it through Odin
3) Install Magisk Manager
With this done you can use applications such as root uninstaller, another alternative is to look if there is a custom rom for your model, but do not expect much as many roms have been abandoned and only a new project is kept alive, if the current rom does not present problems in performance, I recommend you leave it alone and start removing junk apps, another recommendation is to install SD maid, a great app for cleaning junk content of the phone.
