Hi Everyone,
Here I'd like to Introduce you with my custom Gapps package that I use on day to day basis when I flash a new Rom. As I've observed many people struggling with finding the correct version of gapps to flash, I decided to build a package of my own which lets you flash stable google apps with a lot of variants so you can decide for yourself which package suits you.
What is NikGapps?
NikGapps project started with the goal to provide custom gapps packages that suits everyone's needs. A package that a user needs but cannot find and ends up setting up the device installing more apps and removing unwanted apps manually.
NikGapps is a gapps package built from my own device. As my device is always updated with latest version of Google Apps, every time I build a new package, I am on latest and stable version of Google Apps
NikGapps also comes with Android Go package for low end devices.
NikGapps is a bit different than other Gapps packages (written from scratch, it isn't a port of OpenGapps). It focuses on providing apps that most of the people uses but can't find it in other Gapps packages and ends up installing the apps manually
NikGapps supports split-apks
NikGapps also comes with nikgapps.config and debloater.config which allows you to control your installation and debloat unnecessary stuff from your Rom respectively.
NikGapps is built on a different architecture, the installation method is completely different (Every Package comes with installer.sh that installs itself). Also, it installs the gapps to /product partition instead of /system partition
NikGapps also allows you to configure the installation, it can be installed to any partition (be it /system or /product or any other partition which may get added in future)
NikGapps also allows you to keep the aosp counterpart of google app if you want (just by using nikgapps.config you can choose whether to remove the aosp counterpart or remove it)
NikGapps allows you to dirty flash it anytime you want, it also supports installing on top of Roms with Gapps (except for the pixel flavored Roms)
NikGapps also comes with addon packages (useful ones) so that users don't have to flash the whole gapps package just to have the app installed.
NikGapps supports the Privileged Permission Whitelisting, providing the necessary permissions to the privileged apps.
It supports addon.d so you need not flash the package again and again after every nightly flash
NikGapps addon.d functionality is built from scratch which allows you to completely control which app you want to backup/restore on dirty flash.
It also allows optimizing Google Play Services (when you turn off Find My Device) so that you can sleep with peace without having to worry about Google play services eating your battery. (Requires support from Rom too in order to work)
Also, since these are custom build, I can include as many packages as I want (which I do, you can pm me if you want that package)
NikGapps comes with following packages
» Core
» Basic
» Omni
» Stock
» Full
» Go (for low end devices)
Although these packages cover a large user base, there are few users who like things differently that is where NikGapps Addons Comes into picture. These Addon packages are separate and meant to flash over NikGapps original packages.

I'll create one tomorrow. I'll exclude pixel launcher as we can install it separately and there are ported versions available which are preferred over stock.
As for ar sticker in Google camera, I'll create a separate addon zip as the file size will increase tremendously and not everyone wants to install it.

i will report my feedback later on lineage OS
EDIT:
Well for me its more comfortable using your mod in comparison with opengapps just because acelerate the setup of the phone, it has all that i need too, the only problem that i see is that a person who need more apps isn't the best, in that way probaly its better opengapps, anyway, the thing that contain youtube vanced is the best for me, so i really appreaciate your mod of gapps, thanks

Also please see if we can have basic Google addons like Digital Wellbeing, Google TTS, ARCore, Backup and Restore libs. . ?

The idea for the project is great, but to satisfy the configuration of everyone is kinda imposible. With opengapps we can customize each part that we want and I think the ultimate goal for this one could be like that, creating a "master package" with a small config file to just install the components we need (or just delete them from the zip file, with instructions of course)

This is a great idea, for starters can you post which all apps are included in the uploaded zip?

Yeah, actually I missed Digital Wellbeing in the package that I created, I will include in next build. Backup and restore libs are included I believe. No?
ArCore will be provided as an add on zip soon.

You're right, I used to create aroma gapps when I had Mido with me, unfortunately poco doesn't support aroma installer, that makes it difficult to serve everyone.
May be I will implement a way in which I will ask user to provide an input while installing a particular Google app through NikGapps (vol + button for 'yes' and vol - button for 'no'). Will have to check its feasibility. till then, I will provide 2 packages, one which is shared in OP and the other one with all the Google apps replacing stock aosp apps.

Certainly! Thanks for the tip!
I personally create a package which includes latest magisk, the kernel I prefer to flash, Google Sans fonts, some cool ringtones, notification tones, my favorite browser, mixplorer, SwiftKey, telegram, adaway, fk app, etc. In one zip. It pretty much covers all the basic apps. Let me know if anyone is interested in such kind of zip.

It doesnt have to be aroma, currently Im still using custom opengapps config by a gapps-config.txt file that got read before it tries to install gapps. Making a script that determine some on off value should not be that bad, not that I know about how to actually code it

It's certainly possible. The package I use personally has all these apps in it. Not everyone uses all the Google apps hence I included the bare minimum ones and the essential ones specific to our device.

Yes, if choices is an option then it would be much cooler.
Also, do you have any experience with microg? Since if it's possible to to a package like this but with microg for people who wants to use the Google apps without the excessive battery & data hog nature of google play service, then it would be even better

I do have experience with microg but like I said earlier, I build the package from my device and I don't use microg as of now (last I used, it was unstable, couldn't use apps dependent on google libs like uber, not sure about it's current status) and building a package without having microg installed is not possible for me. However, I'm inclined to take requests/suggestions with regards to current package that I am providing.

Update!

happy to try it
and by the way, it is the first with aroma installer
I was a little skeptical about this ROM at first but I'm glad I tried it. It has been pretty good so far not to mention the fact that I could customize the ROM in a way that cm10.1 for example won't let you during installation. As far as performance I can see no notable difference between this and cm10.1. Maybe a little faster. Anyways great ROM much appreciated!

Basically, yes, it does, but not completely, if you need completely original CM, you have to flash CM and what you need else (kernel, modem etc).

I'm trying to figure out why I need to download this >500MB universal package if I already have RC4 running (as per instructions). All I need to do is to download and flash my preferred kernel, modem, gapps, bootanimation, etc... a total of 50MB or less. In other words, starting from RC4 after Optimum JellyBean installation I'm going to have this same RC4 with very same configuration I prefer. It does make sense only in case the user is not very comfortable with flashing kernel, modem, etc. In the same time this inexperienced user is expected to flash a kernel (as recommended) in order to proceed with installation, also to know what exactly he wants to have and select it during installation process. As I understand, this package is not a new ROM. It's user-friendly (kind of) custom installation of CM 10.1 RC4. It is good though, I've tried it and it works. Thanks again!

Yes, you're right this package is not a new ROM, it's custom installation of CM 10.1 RC4 with tweaks, some patches (libsqlite.so, services, jar, systemui.apk) and useful automated functions (zipalign, detailing, drop caches which is running by crond).
Re: Optimum Jellybean v.5.0 install
Hi Likeman, I would like to share that I was having issues with the Aroma installer aborting because I had wiped my /system before starting the installation. I had to do an advanced Nandroid restore of a System folder and then the Aroma installer proceeded correctly. I had been receiving an error "Installation wizard has found that you have an incompatible ROM!" until I had /system in place, and then I properly received "Detected Samsung Captivate SGH-i897, is this correct?" Perhaps you could add to the OP that wiping /system before install is not recommended?
Thanks again, I am trying out the ROM now

I think there is no need to wipe /system anyway because when you flash any ROM (with or without wipe) /system partition will be formated anyway. You got that message because AROMA installer wasn't be able to detect what ROM version you were using. I think I need to find another way to detect is the original ROM compatible. Thanks for sharing your experience!

In my opinion CM10.1 RC4 is more stable than your stock Samsung ROM.
There is no comparison between JB and GB. JB is better in every single detail, including speed.

[Q] Install themes without ROMS?

All i really want are themes to make my device look cool
and i heard you need roms to install themes
i unlock root device perfectly fine
but everytime i try to install a rom my device ****s up and im forced to reset
(the rom loads up but the device only has like 3 apps no play store and stuff like that, no google features which i like)
so it is possible on stock rom?
For custom roms you have to flash a Google Apps (Gapps) package separately. This contains all the google apps you need.
Btw, you can try installing Xposed Framework and XThemeEngine. They require root.
Or wait for the Themer app by MyScreenColor to be released. It will be a non-root app and contains awesome designer themes.

For custom roms you have to flash a Google Apps (Gapps) package separately. This contains all the google apps you need.
Btw, you can try installing Xposed Framework and XThemeEngine. They require root.

how do i know which Gapp i need?
im trying to install carbon 1.8
Most of the times, there are links for both the rom and the proper gapps package in the threads. If you can't find it there, download one from here: http://goo.im/gapps
I suppose you could just use a 3rd party launch that you could just re-theme? Not sure if you're talking more about the innards of the OS. I think your only option may be to root.
edit: someone already posted my idea, whoops.

[FLASHABLE ZIP] Remove GApps in ROM: now support Marshmallow
Script in first post very discounted and therefore deleting not all files.
Here's updated version. Script automatically mounts /system, you don't need do it by yourself.
Script compatible with Android 2.3...6.0
Guaranteed delete will be only on CyanogenMod rom's and Nexus firmware due of possible other file naming in manufacturer stock firmware.
Probably some small bits of files can left on device (like WebView), but almost all other will be removed.
Note: script removes apps from /system partition.
Probably some of them was updated and additionally stored in internal memory.
So you need manually delete a bit of remainders by usual way.
IMPORTANT!
– Maybe some stuff or whole ROM will broken after applying this ZIP
– Script removes stock Google / CM keyboard, install 3rd party before applying!
– Script removes Google Experience Launcher, so make sure you use 3rd-party app or device will not boot!
– Script removes Hangouts, so make sure you use 3rd-party SMS app or you may unable use SMS!
– ..and may other
– Apps with embedded Google Maps such as Foursquare, Instagram and many other can't be launched / installed by any way because of lack of framework for it
– A lot of apps requests installed Google Play Store and Google Play Services which will be removed
– Network location can be disabled because it's part of gapps
– Recommended to wipe dalvik/ART-cache to rid out of unused cache files
>>> Use it at your own risk and make full backup via recovery before flashing! <<<

Does it works on other phones too? I want to completely remove any trace of Google from a Xiaomi Redmi note 3 pro international edition but sadly almost all the roms around have it inside

Oh, that's bad... But about the problems with the applications that require Google play services, with exposed framework it's possible to avoid this issue?
I wonder how it works the MIUI rom without gapps

Is there a (complete) GApps Remover for newer Androids? Currently I use GApps 11 on LineageOS 18.1 and a mod like this would be very useful.

I've just flashed this rom. The UI is great, rom is smooth. But there are some problems of course. Gallery app is not working, I can take photo but can't open it in gallery. And the sd card does not seems to show up. But good thing is since it based on H2OS, I can flash Arsenic kernel and it's working fine. Do not disturb mode is always enabled, I can't turn it off, but phone still rang.
Edit: sd card does not show up in default explorer, but it shows and working in Solid Explorer. Both flashing open gapps and magisk are working fine.

Just flashed.. Great animations, graphics, sounds and a unique feeling in general.
BUT! This rom asks for every single app for internet and location permissions! from calendar to gallery and notes, in music app and so on.. And if you don't to give permissions there is only an "exit" option and you can't use the app! Maybe it's safe but it seems to me a little shady.
There are many chinese apps preinstalled which explains the size of the rom.
Furthermore some notifications are in chinese and you don't get what they say.
I flashed opengapps after flashing the rom with no success, so I used a google installer from their store and it worked just fine..
Photos from the camera are stretched and Gallery doesn't show anything as mentioned..
wifi/bluetooth/data works fine.
Just updated the post.
details on the ROM: UI experience is unique compared to the other custom ROMs available, but very similar to H2OS. The only difference is that Flyme's launcher has tons of themes online (I hated all of them tho). ROM is really good as a daily, it contains both camera apps, OnePlus' one and Meizu's one. And after enabling Google services via the Google Installer apk, there are no issues either. And any kernel for OOS 3 will work on this ROM; I'm using Arsenic kernel. I've also flashed Magisk v13.1 and it is working without any problems with Greenify and Naptime running

I can make you a flashable zip which will remove all bloatware and will work on 8.1, but it won't be an aroma installer. Does that work for you? If it does, let me know and I'll make one for you in the evening post work today.

Done! I've attached it with this post. Try flashing it on an existing setup (and not straight after a clean flash since the zip removes the setup wizards as well). I used OOS Open Beta 8 as base for the file paths, but it should theoretically work for all the Open Betas based on Android 8.1
For reference, the zip removes the following files and folders:

That's nice, but there's a lot os stuff in there. Do you know what everything does? Are you running you phone without all that without problems?
Dirac isn't the sound drivers or something?

I have a fair idea about everything that my zip is removing. Most of the stuff has been compiled by looking into the multiple debloaters that are there for OOS anyway.
I haven't tested the zip myself because I use a custom ROM myself, but a couple of people I asked to test reported no issues, so. But, as always, issues can arise for anyone flashing anything, that's a standard disclaimer.
Coming to DIRAC, yes, that's a sound solution that OnePlus ships with OOS, but the sounds work just fine without DIRAC too. My zip removes it because there are people who prefer V4A as their sound mod and there have been times when DIRAC has been incompatible/caused some issues with V4A. Therefore, my zip removes it as well.
That's awesome, nice job.

If I want to keep a few apps, if I freeze them with Titanium Backup will they stay or will they be removed as well?
---------- Post added at 07:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:14 AM ----------
Also, when I used this the first time I was not able to use the dark/light OOS theme engine. It removed the OOS file manager and when i put it back in it was light, not a dark theme. I tried to go back to the light theme and it didn't make the change. I'd like to know if anyone knows what package needs to stay to be able to use the OOS theme engine.
Update... I found it. It's the OPSkin package. I'll try freezing the packages I want to keep and flash the zip and see how it comes out.

Yes, the zip removed the OPSkin package as well, but I have updated the debloater so that it doesn't remove it now since that the inbuilt skin engine is something that I feel many users would be using. I've also compared OOS 5.1.0 with OOS OB 8 Hotfix and am happy to inform that the zip can be used with OOS 5.1.0 as well.
Updated zip is attached with this post. Have fun!

The only 3 are the oos filemanager, the oos gallery and YouTube, but I run a custom YouTube app that blocks ads. So no worries about a custom zip. Only takes a min to redo those.
But thanks a lot for the last one that leaves in the OPSkin

One more thing I found. Since I flashed the debloater in settings I can't enter data usage. I see it in the list on settings, but when I tap on it it t does nothing. Anything you can think of that was removed that would effect that?
