Just got a new OP6T. I'm using AT&T and Verizon. Both seem to work fine for calls and text, but not group text.
I've tried the stock messaging app, pulse, verizon but none will work. I don't receive the message most of the time. Other times, they come through separately and sometimes as attachments that I can't download.
I'm on CDMA-less with Verizon.
Is there a setting that should be changed for each SIM, APN, preferred network type?
Also, I can do group text on the Verizon SIM. Just not on AT&T.
And another update. I have it set to use dual 4G networks when available but the default was set to Verizon. Changed default to AT&T and now MMS works for both SIMs.

Does StraightTalk have any new APN settings that I'm not aware of? I'm on a Nexus 4, and I'm using StraightTalk as my carrier. I've got the default APN settings, but they aren't working correctly. I have data, can send MMS, I just can't receive them. Any help would be appreciated.
Can Verizon Note 4 be used on GSM carriers in the US ? I know Verizon is CDMA but N4 has GSM capabilities too.
Yes you can use it on att, T-Mobile etc.

Will everything work? Calls, Texts, MMS, 3G & 4G - do you have to manually enter APN ?
If this is true that is awesome! It means if I start going over on my data and feel the date to switch I can!

You'll have to enter your APN for MMS and Data.
My Verizon HTC One M8 on AT&T is unable to send / receive MMS with the stock messaging app and hangouts but installing Textra or Chomp SMS solved that.
is verizon developer edition copletely unlocked. I mean is there any difference between an unlocked phone or verizon unlocked aka developer edition?
I believe this issue is not specific to a variant of the Moto G Gen 4, but in case, mine is a Amazon version with OEM.img flashed in. I have 2 of the same device, configured this way, with the same issue.
Carrier: Sprint / Ting, CDMA/LTE SIM card.
Issue: MMS messages do not send, and do not download.
Things that did not fix it:
-Carrier Reset (*#*#72786#*#* )
-Update PRL
-Update Device Config
-reboots
-MMSC is not visible in *#*#DATA#*#* menu
-Tried switching from Google Hangouts App, to Google Messenger App, no change.
Partial Resolution / Workaround: Set preferred network to 3G instead of LTE. When I did this, I got all of my queued up messages. (I found this idea at a social.ringplus.net discussion 6646 how-to-fix-mms-on-the-moto-g4-plus p2 (new user so I can't link directly, but feel I should give credit where it is due)
I am not a high-data-use person so this works for me at present. Hopefully a real fix will be discovered soon though.
That's a classic example of bad APN settings, are you sure those are right?
Sent from my SM-T530NU using XDA-Developers mobile app
I am not sure. Though I'm a engineer/programmer, I am a novice at phone stuff.
I'm currently testing the "install textra and see how it changes/fixes the behavior" option mentioned on my source thread, and then iteratively testing changes to network type and wifi on/off, on one of the two phones. That seems to have improved it somewhat, but I am not 100% sure yet.
Textra reports the APN settings to be:
MMSC:
Code:
http mms sprintpcs com
(new users URL post prohibited)
MMS proxy: 68.28.31.7
MMS Proxy port: 80
I may have to install a different app on the un-Textra-ed phone to see what the info is before installing Textra. (It is very annoying that Motorola removed APN info viewing from the phone's default software. )

I think that's a Sprint / US Cellular only thing, as I can view and edit my Verizon APN settings on my G4.
No issues on Sprint with mine. My mode is on Global. Try *#*#72786#*#* to reprovision the phone.
Anyone else on Sprint figure a way to get the APN settings to work for hotspot? I added ,dun to several of my APNs but still won't allow me to turn on hotspot

That's the "Carrier Reset" which was mentioned earlier. It did not affect the issue when I did it at the request of my provider's tech support.
You have a corrupted MSID. Ask Ting support to assign you a new MSID, reprovision, and all will be well
After using it this way for a while, MMS appears to now work correctly on any band (3g, LTE), and on WiFi. I did the same procedure on the second phone (install textra, set 3G preferred, verify working, and then set everything back to how it was before (text messaging on hangouts, LTE preferred).
(Tech support suggested setting MMSc to http://mms.plspictures.com, but I have not because it is now working)
If I remember to install an app to view the information, I will post again with what the "default" settings were before textra was installed, as I'll probably be buying yet another amazon Moto G4, as one of our went through the laundry

While I am not on Sprint this worked for me. Add this to you build.prop and see if it works
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
I'm on B20 build and currently unable to send or receive MMS messages on AT&T reliably. Occasionally, I can reboot the phone and it will download and send the MMS messages that are pending. I've tried creating new APN settings for AT&T following the guide for smartphones on AT&T's website: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1062162
Is anyone else having these same problems or does anyone have suggestions as to any updates I can make for MMS on AT&T?
Thanks

Make sure you're using the nxtgenphone APN and don't change any default settings for that APN or Messaging app.
I am coming from a Moto X Pure and just swapped the sim card. I have read the different preferred settings that some people have success with but I have not had complete success. Some settings I'll get 4g data and can text but cannot place calls. I can swap a few things and place calls but I'll lose 4g. I need to go to the store tomorrow and enable the HD voice calls but would like to see if I can get the rest working myself.
Info I need.
Data roaming n/off
Preferred network mode:
Enhanced 4g: on/off
System select :home only/automatic
CDMA subscription ruim/sim or nv
Apn Verizoninternet: on/off

That's interesting, when I went from my Nexus 6P -> Essential -> LG G6; I never had a connectivity issue.
1. Data roaming n/off?
What do you want.
2. Preferred network mode:
CDMA/LTE
3. Enhanced 4g: on/off
On
4. System select :home only/automatic
What do you want? I use Home
5. CDMA subscription ruim/sim or nv
?
6. Apn Verizoninternet: on/off
This should be VZWINTERNET
But once again, I never had to manually set anything related to APN or CDMA subscription
Which cdma/lte though? CDMA + LTE/EvDo?
Do you not the cdma subscription option? If you do just need to know which one to use.
Can you give the specifics for the Verizon apn? Just through the whole list if possible.
I have the same issue as op. I bought mine used not knowing it was from Sprint. I'm using straight talk with Verizon. Messing with different settings I can get text and data, or calls, but not both. Doesn't make any sense...

I was recently on the LOS ROM and saw that there is an APN for straight talk, you may want to try that too see if that will allow for both cdma + LTE.
With some help from @houstonironman I think I have got it working completely.
Copy/paste from info he sent me.
I don't think I ever got HD working, that I can tell anyway. How do you know? I have my network set to CMDA/LTE. I also went to *#*#4636#*#* from the dial pad and under phone info selected LTE/CMDA auto. Somewhere in those settings I found radio settings and I toggled from United States, to Europe, then back to United States.
Final settings
Preferred Network:CDMA + LTE/EVDO
Enhanced 4g: On. Side note call Verizon and make sure you have HD calling enabled on account. It's free.
System Select: home only
CDMA subscription:RUIM/SIM
Access Point Names:
Name:Verizon
APN:VZWINTERNET

I'm on straight talk using verizon sim. I don't actually have a verizon plan. Not sure if straight talk can enable this or not, but will call them later and find out, thanks for the settings.
Anyone on VZW get video calling, NFL game streaming or premium visual voicemail to work?

I am on Oreo beta 1 and have visual voicemail working in the stock phone app and NFL has work since I installed it. When I first did the oreo beta the voicemail did not work. One day last week I hit the voicemail tab in the phone app by accident and it asked if I accepted Verizon's terms for voicemail activation. It has worked since then. The NFL stream has worked the whole time. I did install the My Verizon app and log into it before using the NFL app.
