What do you guys do after a software update?
Do you factory reset? Leave it as it is?
I want some recommendations on what process you do after an update.
Thanks in advance.

Up to you. You don't need to but if you're having issues after an update it's always good to factory reset before before reporting.

Depends on how it's acting. If I get weirdness, I'll backup and do a reset.

Hy everybody, I need all the possible help here. I got a huge problem with my s3. Since a bought it I've never received an OTA update even though I should have received 3 of them (2 ics 4.0.4 and a 4.1.1). Always updated via kies or at least Odin. Why? Never rooted my phone, everything has always been stock. What's the problem? Second problem(the worst for me) is "app update notification". Same thing here, a never receive notifications in case of an update even if settings are set to notify me and automatically update but nothing. The only way to update my apps is to go inside the store and check my apps. Only if I reboot the S3 sometimes I receive a notification. I've tried tons of hard reset or deep cleans but never solved the problems. Is there out there a genius who can help cause I'm going crazy about these two thinks here. Please help me. What's the problem? How can I solve it? Thanks in advance.

I understand what you mean. But try to do a Factory reset from the Phone itself under Setting-Backup/Data and then Wipe Data/Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Once you have done so. Re-flash your real Firmware through ODIN and make sure your device status is not Modified.
If the above does not work then Go into Emergency Firmware Recovery from Kies, type in the details and it will restore it to factory settings from Manufacturer then update it via kies or OTA.

Bumping is against the rules ..
OTA you may have no OTA or the vendor is not pushing updates OTA .
Like i have FOTA and Kies removed on my phone as standard as i use XDA firmware .
Your best bet would be to check the vendors forums re the OTA update disabled and check a Samsung forum for Kies updates .

I'm not sure because I haven't taken the 2nd update yet. If you are on PB5 you are can try downgrading to PB4 with the files here. It will either downgrade or not. I doubt it will hurt anything if it fails.

Thanks so much! I will give this a shot once I figure out the best way to back up my sms/mms. Do you know what firmware the phone shipped with?

No problem at all. I'm not sure what the phone was shipped with but PB4 was the 2nd update, my guess would be PB3. I use the Verizon messaging app because it's easy to make a backup.

Thanks again. The downgrade to PB4 worked. I'll post in the stock firmware thread for others who may want to do the same.

You're welcome

Can confirm, all downloaded and installing now. Took some quick keyboard work at work to use fastboot and flash back entirely to stock (recovery included) while signing up for the beta. Popped up instantly.
is this the new one ? or this is still the old beta ?
Installing also, looks that this is final build with changelog
Can someone tell us if this is the final version?

I was rooted with Magisk. I disabled root from the Magisk Manager and installed the OTA update. I lost root but gained Nougat.

If you are rooted with Systemless SuperSu you can still download the OTA as usual then install it with the Flashfire app rather than installing from the prompt. Worked for me anyway.
how do i upgrade from purenexus while keeping TWRP and leaving my file system decrypted? I don't mind wiping my data.

Don't worry, nothing bad will happen to your device, but you won't get more beta releases until you opt-in again!

All files are alive after this upgrade. In my case
So, just tried to upgrade.
After half an hour of downloading and updating, it reached the point where the phone restarted itself, but all I saw is an open-android icon with a message "Error!" :/
Simply restarted the phone and back to 6.0.1. Unfortunately.

Hello,
i've noticed that since the installation of Nougat sometimes when the phone is in standby i can't wake it up. I have to reset it with power+home+vol-, could it be an app that i've installed or is it a known issue? Someone else has noticed this problem?
Thank you.
I also have this issue, though i had it also on Android 6

Most likely it's due to you not doing a full and complete factory reset
and wipe before you Odin flashed the new Nougat 7 firmware or it's
possible that you did not odin flash the correct S7/S7 Edge firmware
for your phone's model.
Good luck, have a great day!

Hi all,
With nougat I had almost 6 hours non stop multitasking with 2 screens with YouTube and Chrome and others apps. Now it last less the 2 hours and it's frustrating, plus it gets hot. There's no information from Samsung how to fix.
I upgraded my S8 not from the Beta programme but from the normal upgrading service. I'm trying to find a easy way to rollback to Nougat I don't find a reliable way. It will affect my warranty? If I need a computer I have a Mac.
Thanks.
Hi
Did you make a factory reset ?
If yes, back to Nougat by flashing Nougat firmware on ODIN.
Your knox protection will be not passed, it will stay at 0x0, don't be afraid, ODIN and Samsung firmware are official and don't affect warranty.

Hi
No, I haven't done a factory reset. Is there any easy guide to do it?
If I go to do it through Odin, could you recommend me a guide?
Thanks.

It's in the settings
Just go to settings and look for "reset".
I'm with my mobile, so I can't give you a guide. Just check google guy
Factory reset is a must after major update otherwise you will have issues. I have done reset straight away and very happy with battery life . Pretty much same level like on nougat or even slightly better.
