Canadian version missing LTE band 17? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers
Just check the Canadian Samsung website, there is no band 17 listed. Anyway to check if this is true?

Does this mean it doesn't matter which country? All SD should support all those? Since Samsung Canada official website didn't list all of them.

I noticed the same thing myself (e.g., the missing band on Samsung Canada) but a couple things:
Samsung needs to update that page. > DISREGARD.
Band 17 helps to improve 4G LTE speeds for many Canadian telecoms and their subsidiaries. It has worked for previous Samsung devices. I don't foresee any reason why it would be revoked for newer devices.
I'm using a G975U1 that I converted to G975W and am having no issues on Telus (WiFi Calling/VoLTE/LTE+).
Telus also WRONGLY references Band 17 as working with S10-related devices:
https://www.telus.com/en/on/mobility/phones/samsung-galaxy-s10
(Under 'Specifications')
Neither I or my friend are seeing B17 on our S10/S10+ when going into *#2263#
We both have Canadian units.
Rogers too!

AHE_XDA,
I do not know how "essential" it is in the real world situations, but it is not limited to just Bell and TELUS (and of course, their flanker brands)... Rogers has also got the MBS spectrum licenses - including the 700MHz Lower B / C blocks that Band 17 covers - in various regions of Canada as well as jointly holds some with Vidéotron in Eastern Ontario & Outaouais / Quebec.

Samsung Canada really messed this one up. I know band 17 is essential. I just check Band 17 is not listed.
Anyway we can ask Samsung to activate this

Perhaps 'Essential' is overstated
I'll correct that!
Did a bit more digging.
The band in question, 17, was supported until the Note 9.
Samsung Chat confirmed it isn't included in the S10 but was supported in prior devices.
Their Support Line was clueless what I was talking about.
Samsung Business Services could likely answer this if someone wants to take it up with them.

They confirmed that probably because they went online and read a spec sheet. Curious to know this for real.
No Band 17, No problem
Folks,
Perhaps some of us may have forgotten how the 700MHz MBS spectrum are allocated in relation to Band 12 vs 17. In a sense, the Lower B and C blocks in the Band 17 spectrum are like the "subset" of Band 12 spectrum that includes the Lower A block...

In Canada, the band plan is the same but with different "labels" of the Upper blocks...
Either way, the whole mess with Band 12 vs 17 was more about big carriers like at&t which has got the Lower B and C block spectrum while smaller carriers have got the Lower A block spectrum. Device manufacturers along with big carriers would not have any issue to cater each other objectives but smaller carriers cried foul to FCC. Then they worked on the technical aspects to make networks in both bands interoperable....
https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/at-t-achieves-interability-700-mhz-band
If we force our S10/S10+/S10e with only LTE Band 12 access, I do not believe we would "miss" anything as long as the carrier we are using do have the spectrum in the A, B or C blocks where we use our phones....
* This chart may not reflect any approved spectrum swap between carriers since the last MBS spectrum auction ended
So I would not concern too much about the lack of LTE Band 17 support anymore. In fact, it maybe the other way around that IF our phones didn't support LTE Band 12. It is quite insignificant with 5x5MHz spectrum utilized anyway... unless the place where I use the service the most is located in the boonies or underground bunker!

Thanks for the info. I just stumbled on this thread as I was doing a little coverage mapping. I noted many of the towers in my area that I've recorded are broadcasting 4 and 17, but a handful were broadcasting 13. I have an S10+, so went into the service menu to force only 13 to try and see if more were broadcasting, but my phone just wasn't picking them up, and I was surprised to see 17 was missing.
Now, based on the mapping, I know my phone's picking up 17, but the fact that 12/17 are essentially the same makes alot of sense. I'll have to test forcing only band 12 next, and see if that registers as 17 on cellmapper's page.

Ok, now it gets strange.
I forced my device's LTE preference to only B12, and it immediately dropped to HSPA+.

After reading some forum in France, there are a lot of Bxx with 700Mhz support in the world. For France, LTE/4G is B3, B7, B20 and B28 so it will miss 700Mhz and 800Mhz with a verizon phone. carriers support LTE/4G, B28 begin in 2018: Bouygues Telecom: B3 B7 B20 Orange: B7 B20 Free mobile: B7 B3 SFR: B7 B20 For the rest 2G and 3G(+) are fully compatible. B1 - 2100Mhz B2 - (1900 PCS) B3 - (1800 + ) B4 - (1700/2100 AWS 1) B5 - 850Mhz B6 - ??? New frequency LTE 4G bands included in YP3 vs YP2 (YD201)
Not holding my breath but it seems YP3 has slightly better support for LTE frequencies which should mean better overall LTE reception in Europe and in Canada. Not sure about the U.S. Europe (select bands and countries) B8 (900) - NEW band in YP3 B3 (1800 +) B7 (2600) Canada B7 (2600) B2 1900 - NEW band in YP3 Band 17 - 700 mhz - NEW band in YP3 The comparison is made against YD201. I got the specs from Frenquency check website and from posted online specs about YP3. Looks like these specs are different from the preview models of YP3 a few months ago so let's hope it holds some truth. Interesting one of the specs saying the phone will also include bands 12, 13, 29 (all 700 mhz) which would be mostly good news for the U.S.
