Swift Installer / Substratum themes for Pie One UI - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I've been using Swift Installer on the Note 9 using Oreo (perfect) and I'm curious how extensively Pie can be themed with Swift Installer/Substratum. Some of my biggest gripes with Pie had to do with the ugly stock theme and all the broken elements using Samsung Theme store themes. Using Swift Installer or Substratum, can one make the rounded elements more square? Can the AOSP icons be applied? Screenshots of themes would be greatly appreciated.

Using substratum and andromeda with Biohazard theme. Can change pretty much anything you want

Use Substratum themes in MIUI

I am currently on MIUI-MM on my Kenzo as I needed working VoLTE .
But MIUI only allows to theme system elements and all other elements remain unthemed. (GAPPs, Whatsapp, Browser etc).
For testing, I installed Substratum and found it working fine for most of the supported applications.
Please note to skip system applications from theming. And as Substratum is working in legacy mode in MIUI MM, phone needs to be restarted after applying theme.
Some screenshots attached from MIUI MM.
Nice find

Will try it....
It's good thing to see.

Is there any chance it would work on Lollipop?

Install "Substratum" from playstore.
You can also find themes in playstore. Search for "substarum themes"
* your phone must be rooted to use this.

Which (dark) themes work in Legacy mode?
Ah,nevermind got it after checking the screenshots. But in Play Store it shows "not compatible with your device version". I did try to obtain it elsewhere but package parsing error occurred. How do I get it?
Great find dude...!!

You need root to work, it's because many elements are located in protected or un reached places with no root privilages.
Try to root your phone, or use Magisk to hide root (or XPOSED as there is MIUI v9 version).
To OP
Thanks dude, it's a perfect find, I have RN4 too, and it's pleasure to hear that substratum themes are working fine in in-app environment.

I'm on MIUI-MM too, but when I try to download the substratum theme engine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum) Google Play shows no compatible devices. Did you sideload it, or am I looking at the wrong app?

Substratum themes without root!

Can we have Substratum Theme Engine & its themes on OnePlus 5 without rooting, I really love substratum themes and I don't feel like rooting my new OP5 right now!

Not on the current OOS (Nougat) but likely when we get the Oreo OOS version. I use Substratum with root but in its "Legacy" form so I need to reboot after any theme application and miss other features that an OS integrated Substratum would provide.

There aren't enough devices running 8.0 to say for sure. Rootless Substratum works on Oreo on Nexus and Pixel devices but those are Google phones. Other device manufacturers including One Plus alter Android code for their own devices so how well it will work is not known. OOS alters Android framework enough that only a few Substratum themes are currently compatible even if you are rooted. On a Nexus or Pixel phone running Nougat if you were rooted most Substratum themes are compatible in legacy mode. That's not the case with most non-Google phones. On those you usually need a custom ROM to use Substratum.

Open Beta 1 - default dark theme doesn't work, Substratum themes don't work too

As the title suggests, I installed OOS Oreo Open Beta 1, and neither the default system dark mode nor Substratum overlays work. In Substratum, it says overlay installation successful, but then it doesn't show up in the overlay list, and rebooting doesn't help either. Idk what's wrong, it'd be great if someone could help.
If you want to use substratum with OOS, use Ozone theme. And if you want custom accent themes, you have to use either the light or dark theme. It won't work with the default one.
I'm on the open beta and am using substratum with pitch black theme and swift black theme. Both working well for me. They are paid themes though and have been updated for Oreo

I use a purchased version of Swift Black too! I install all the overlays, it says it was successful and there weren't any errors, but then they don't show up in Manager and a reboot doesn't help either.

If it helps, I clean flashed it, along with Magisk, no-verity ZIP, iYTBP, Product Sans font from Android 8.1 DP, and iOS 11.2 emojis.
I really think something's wrong with the OS, because even the dark theme in settings>display>theme isn't applying, even though it says 'success!'.
I'll probably clean flash tomorrow, but it'd be great if someone could help me now before I go through all that pain again.
I was on Open Beta 1 and default dark theme and substratum themes was working great.
I was using xXx No Limits OB01 (8.0), Substratum was working OK (not 100%) but it had to be installed via the PlayStore not through the Aroma installer from the ROM.
However the OOS dark theme was not working at all, as soon as I selected it settings would FC and then all the apps that used the dark theme constantly FCed without evening opening. Clean installed the ROM 3 times and happened every time. Not sure what exactly is the root of the problem as other people have had no problem applying the dark theme.
Open beta 1 substratum and dark theme are working perfectly even with android system themed no power menu bug... i tested and are workings: oozone (from playstore), belo, mono/art, swift dark and swift light, ethereal...
try to factory reset if you have problem with the default dark theme there's surely something wrong
Thanks everyone! I'll clean flash in a while and report.
Clean flash worked! Thanks a ton.

Afaik, that's a bug with the open beta. I'm using Pixel Launcher instead.
Same for me, can't get it back to "dark" anymore, simply ignored on OP5

Can you use an icon pack with Substratum

Hi!
I tried reading up on it but I'm still a bit clueless.
Can you use custom icon packs with Substratum or do I need a custom launcher for it?
I'm on Stock Oreo H870.
Thanks for your time!

From my experience, substratum can change icons. However, they need to be part of a whole substratum theme. If you're only using icon packs, you'll need to use Nova launcher or something similar.

Change between light and dark theme

It is possible to change from dark to light in 8.1 stock?
Yes it is managed automatically according to your wallpaper
There's some Xposed module to force it to dark
You can use substratum to have a even more stylish look than default white/dark
What is Substratum?

Substratum is theme engine which you can use to apply themes with or without root, you can find it on Google Play. If you dont have root, you need additional app called Andromeda which allows you to install themes without root using ADB.
