Swift installer issues - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I'm on a TMO converted to international and updated to .12. I'm rooted with magisk 18.1 but TWRP is not installed. I just boot to it as needed. So I've used Swift installer in the past on my 6t. Bunged something up so restored back to stock. This time however I'll run the installer and there everything but after a day or 2 everything goes back to unthemed. Anyone have any ideas as to why or how to make it stick. I'll run installer, reboot then the second time it asks to reboot again and I do, all's well for a day then I'll open a themed app and it's normal unthemed.

Can't Boot after OTA Open Beta 5 -> 6

Hi, I just dirty flashed my phone through OTA from OB5 to OB6. I currently can't boot into my phone, but recovery and everything works.
I'm using twrp 3.2.1.0 codeworx. I can boot into my lockscreen but the moment it loads it says "Shutting down". If I install Magisk 16.0 it just tries to boot, then fails and jumps to recovery.
At least my data isn't encrypted anymore, but what can I do about this? When I try to sideload the OB5 ROM it says can't read zip.
Also it's interesting how my recovery gets reset every time that happens.
From my knowledge you should make clean flash as android 8.0 and 8.1 are different versions
You didn't removed all the overlays from substratum, navigate with twrp's file manager into /data/system and delete overlays.xml

Thanks for the suggestion. I also feel a feeling that it's substratum because I made the mistake of updating with layers still installed. I tried flashing the substratum rescue zip, both legacy and non-legacy, and also deleting the file as you suggested but I'm still getting that immediate "shutting down" error.

For my personal experience, I took the OTA and had no problems rebooting. I'm also fully stock with no root or custom recovery; I don't know if that affected my flash and reboot. I bought my OP5 used from Swappa. When I got it, I clean flashed the OB5 and then today I took the OTA for OB6.
I was on ob05, twrp 8.71. Received ota, full zip, on the phone. Dirty flash workt fine for me. Phone booted ok. Of course, recovery was gone. Reflash recovery. Reboot to recovery. Flash Magisk 16. All ok.
Bootloop was caused by https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/themes/op5-oos-oreo-official-fix-blue-3rd-t3727238/ for me. After disabling the module with https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-tool-magisk-manager-recovery-mode-t3693165 it's booting properly

Can't install Xposed framework on Samsung On5 SM-G550T1

Device is rooted and TWRP is installed.
I downloaded the latest framework from waham (I think), sdk23 arm. I install that file through TWRP and then clear that Dalvik Cache thing. Now when I reboot my device it keeps being stuck at MetroPCS logo. I left it there for like 30 minutes and still nothing happened. I've seen users here saying it usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes. What should I do now?
One thing more, I've already installed modules on my device, could those be the reason this is happening?
Any help is appreciated.
It worked. I uninstalled all apps that required Xposed including Xposed installer and device booted in few minutes. Everything is working fine now.

xposed Issues Oreo

I am having issues installing the xposed framework. I have rooted with Magisk successfully and I'm on the ElementalX kernel. When I try to install the xposed framework via TWRP, when I reboot back into the OS, it gets stuck in a hello moto bootloop. I can boot into the OS without issue by clearing the dalvik cache and the normal cache after installation, but when I get into the Xposed installer app, it says it's installed but not running. There is no log, so I assume it is because the Xposed folder doesn't have permissions. I give it permissions and reboot by pressing restart in the power menu, but when I do that, it gets in the bootloop again.
I would appreciate any help on this.

I had this problem also, I would typically just long press the power button and let it complete a second normal boot, and then xposed would work after the second boot completed. (The second boot after initial bootloop would load up just fine.) However, after a few reboots, my phone became unstable and I had to reflash the stock ROM. I'm not sure how stable OREO xposed is on this device yet. It may have just been my modules. (GravityBox, Flat Color Keyboard, Bars, and Status Icons)

I also have a Moto G5 plus and when I tried to reboot it a second time it was still stuck in its boot loop so I had to enter TWRP to flash the uninstall and if I try to install Xposed via Magisk I have to factory reset, I don't think it's me ROM because it's the same as a stock ROM (had to install the ROM because the one it came with got corrupted or something when I tried to install Xposed where I still had the boot loop problem). I am running 8.1.0 Oreo.
I think a lot of my problem was i was using a sprint variant also. I think a lot of other users are using the verizon/t-mobile variants. I never really did get xposed to work properly on oreo on the sprint variant of this phone no matter what i tried.
Any news on this issue?
I just updated to 8.1 and would like to get xposed up and running like I had it on Nougat. Has there been any fixes yet to this. Thanks to anyone for a reply.
I get bootloop when I install magisk & xposed.
I am using Xposed since months
Working fine
One thing you is that we've to do soft reboot instead of regular reboot

Stock Recovery and issues with TWRP

Sorry I'm on mobile! Poor formating and typing is all my fault
So I'm out of my mind trying to fix and find a guide to fix my issues. This is how it all started
I was running the latest magisk (20.1) and OOS (9.0.17), when I installed Vance through magisk. I didn't read the instructions all the way, so I installed the module, it worked, then I saw that you can uninstall the YouTube system apk then install Vance. I deleted the Vance on my next reboot AND uninstalled YouTube system app, and I got stuck rebooting my phone. I have TWRP installed on my phone, not flashed (I didn't know the issues with TWRP when I installed the zip through TWRP). When it got stuck booting, I flashed magisk Uninstaller and it fixed the issue. I tried to reinstall magisk 20.1, and I got the same issue, stuck at boot. So I was able to go home, and use the oneplus 6t manager found here on the forums, which roots with magisk 18.0, and, it worked! But I couldn't update to the new magisk without it freezing my boot. After some deliberation on it, I decided to wipe my phone to try and fix it, and TWRP was still installed, and all my issues still persisted. After this setback, I found fastboot rom also on xda, and got it working, did an Ota to 9.0.17 from 9.0.16. Everything was working, until I went into my recovery and it wiped my phone. I don't even know where to go from here and I need help. Any and all help would be appreciated!
Edit: I just local upgraded to android 10 oos, and it seems to be fine. I don't know yet fully because I'm not at my house!

Trouble installing Custom ROMs - Encryption?

Hi All
So I decided to try a custom ROM on my 6T the other day, but am having no end of trouble trying to get it to work.
To start, I was running 10.3.1 on my phone, and was Unlocked, but not Rooted, since i lost TWRP+Magisk after installing the last OS update.
So I go into fastboot, boot up the latest TWRP-Q image, and try to install magisk, but all my sdcard folders are just garbage text - can't do anything with them. I assume this is some sort of encryption thing, so i reboot to go back to the OS and see if a can disable it.
However - the phone won't boot now - just loops back into Recovery everytime. Tried everything i can think of, nothing seems to work, so I cut my losses and reboot to fastboot and flash the fastboot 10.3.1
let that start up and everything seems fine, so i reboot to fastboot, boot up TWRP again, and then "install recovery ramdisk" like the instructions say t, and then reboot to recovery. all good so far.
Next, i copy on the 10.3.1 flashable ZIP, and the PixeN OS zip. instructions there say to flash 10.3.1 followed by TWRP twice, so i do that, rebooting to recovery between each, and then install the PixeN OS zip and TWRP as well.
Reboot after that, and phone just loops back into TWRP, and all my sdcard folders are garbage again!
I've no idea what I'm doing wrong, but i've tried the same process with 3 different custom roms so far and get the same result every time.
Flash the OOS fastboot image, boot and install TWRP, install OOS flashable and TWRP twice, then the ROM zip and TWRP, and then everytime after that, my phone just loops into recovery every time - and shows the same garbled folder names.
I'm at a loss as to what's going wrong - can anyone help?
The only thing I can come up with is what they all keep saying in the topics; have you disabled the lockscreen? I haven't yet tried to flash a custom rom but that's what I am missing in your story.
You have backed up your phone?
Then reinstall OxygenOS 10.3.1 in all slots, and reinstall TWRP, and finally do factory reset and data wipe, and reboot back into TWRP. And, copy the files you want installed back on the phone (TWRP will mount the phone as a MTP storage drive on the computer, of course) and then install your favorite OS and TWRP in both slots then reboot back into recovery one final time. Finally install Magisk and gapps (if you want to), and reboot (then install any Magisk add-ons once you get back into your phone).
That's because OxygenOS' SSD encryption is a bit strict for our liking.

OK thanks - that's pretty much what I did, but I'll try again following your exact steps - thanks for the help!
Be sure whatever you installed is in both slots or the SSD will keep corrupting. I had to do that on both slots so I don't keep bricking it - I have bricked the converted T-Mobile OnePlus 6T about eight to ten times figuring out why I wasn't able to install anything atop OxygenOS 10.3.1 ROM.
