Since Pie removes the ability to use third party call recording, I was toying with the idea of flashing with a CSC that has native recording.
What CSC has native call recording, that are not part of a Multi-CSC?
On Galaxy S9, ILO which is part of OXM has native call recording. I would guess it is the same for the S8 as well.
I would love to know how to change the CSC in a mutli CSC device.

On my multi CSC I worked have to flash unlocked firmware u1 model or insert that carriers sim. Mine auto selects the CSC upon sim insertion
correct me if I am wrong, but I think changing CSC will affect which frequency bands are active, which degrade data and phone service.
can anyone confirm this?

I bought a i5800, but it came with a European Firmware, its it possible to flash it with i5800L firmware to use 3G in the USA?
Or can I flash the modem.bin file from the USA version in order to user 850/1900 rather then 900/2100?
I live in Argentina, bought my phone in Brazil (unlocked to carrier there, but not here) and currently have an European ROM flashed to it.
So yeah, there shouldn't be any problem doing that. The only downside I've had so far is that the original Brazilian ROM had the normal 011-5555-5555 when I did use area code and 5555-5555 for all other cases... which is normal in all south american countries. The european ROM gives me an annoying configuration of 555-555-55 or 011-555-55555. The other issue is that whenever people call me (from the same area code, it shows me the complete number, aka: +541155555555 as if it was an international call. Notice this is only a phone display issue, and really has no effect on charge rates or whatever. But since the phone believes it is from europe, it assumes numbers calling from +54 country code is foreign. This is really a pain and I've been trying to change ever since... Until now I haven't been able to find anything on it, but the phone works flawlessly
Guys, I really need your help. I bought S7 Edge SM-G935F from Middle-East, Saudi Arabia. I didnot notice that in the box stated "MIDDLE EAST & NORTH AFRICAN SIM CARD ONLY". I bought this phone for my brother in Indonesia (South-east Asia country). Can we use this phone using Indonesian local operator SIM Card? I am afraid that it's useless already to buy this phone which is my brother won't be able to use in Indonesia.
As I read from this forum, my S7 Edge model is SM-G935F which is global version but still I have no idea whether this phone can be used in my country or not; just because of the warning sentence above. I do need your suggestion what I should do, guys. Thanks in advance for your help.
You need to use middle east SIM cards and make a call/receive call for a cumulative duration of at least 15 minutes to remove the region restriction.

So, it means that I need to use Middle East SIM card first in my country to make/recieve a call from/to another country? Then, it will be used normally & automatically functioned in my country? Thanks a bunch for your answer.
Or you can just have it (SIM) Unlocked - but you'll have to pay for the service if you can't do it yourself.
15min for the Middle East version? Hmmm the SEA version requires only 5min of call from a SEA sim card.
Not sure if free call also counts.

Any calls will do. Local or international. Make sure it is at least 15 minutes.
I use 7 edge Duos with Nigerian CSC code in Europe without problems
Thank you, guys, for all your answers.
Egyptian Sim card
Hi,
I have the Egyptian version of Galaxy S7 Edge G935F - live in New York with AT&T. It works fine except no Samsung Pay, VoLTE, WiFi-Calling. Would sim unlock or getting an Egyptian Sim card to remove region restriction be of any benefit?

No. If it's working now in NY, there is no more region restriction.
I assume you bought it from Egypt. In that case, to get VoLTE, wifi calling etc, you need to call ATT to ask if they support them on international s7 edge. It's unlikely that you can get it working since it's something to do with your baseband and csc.
I am on Android 7.0. See software specs in attached screenshot. Three UK turned on wifi called end of January. My phone is unlocked and bought from Samsung. I don't seem to have the WiFi calling option. I have already checked that you don't need a phone bought from three, it will work with any s7 Edge.
Anyone have wifi calling working with any network on a non carrier phone? I don't see any options for it anywhere either.
Launch the phone app (I.e. The green phone icon), tap the settings option on the top right. For me it's an option just under vibrate.
I'm on EE with a phone that came direct from Samsung.

You should see what CSC/PDA the stock Three UK S7 Edge comes with, I think it is this one https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy S7/81c4/HTS/G930FXXU1DQB7/G930FHTS1DQA4/ but you should confirm. Then flash it with Odin. It won't trip Knox or anything. You can find out how to do that here on XDA.

I did confirm with three today and have found it elsewhere on the Internet that it doesn't need three own branded firmware. So I don't really want to install it. I was part of the 7.0 beta, I wonder if that has caused issues.
Yes I'm on the same build version. I was also on the 7 beta and the only difficulty I had was locating the WiFi calling option as it used to be located through the main settings.
Do you have to opt in for WiFi calling on Three? I think I may have with EE.

Any joy with three wi fi calling s7 edge
I have updated my unlocked s7 edge as suggested by three, but no wi fi calling available, I have to walk to end of road on holiday cottage could do with a fix. Three in touch no longer works either. Did you get a solution from Samsung?
Wi-Fi Calling works only on H3G Firmware
After few nights of flashing various CSC ROMs, I can confirm that Wi-Fi calling and HD Calling on Three UK appears on H3G firmware only and it works like it should.
Here are few notes after flashing:
XEU - No Wi-Fi calling option, VoLTE icon intermittent, dropping calls after few min if started calling on 4G, keeps switching back to 3G to initiate a voice call.
BTU - No Wi-Fi Calling option, VoLTE icon appears and seems OK when calling over 4G, however no HD voice.
H3G - Wi-Fi Calling option appears in Call Settings and it works! However no VoLTE icon but for sure it makes voice calls over 4G as it initiate a voice call much faster and the radio doesn't switch back to 3G, also the HD icon appears when making a phone call to compatible service number or another phone which supports HD voice - call is sharp crystal clear like on Skype or Messenger etc.
Conclusion: To get all stuff enabled Wi-Fi Calling + VoLTE + HD Voice you need to get your phone directly from Three or flash H3G firmware to your current phone.
H3G firmware luckily hasn't got too much of a bloatware, it can be easily uninstalled or disabled
Please hit thumbs up for me :good:

I found exactly the same when I tested roms, you need the network rom to get wificalling.
I know this is an old thread but still relevant today.
I found pretty much the same thing. WiFi Calling and VoLTE on EE needs the EVR firmware (but I think it may work on BTU as well with Android 8)
3 does require the HG3 firmware
Without the correct match of firmware the option to enable WFC does not appear in phone/settings.
Others like O2 and Voda probably require their own firmware as well.
But what is really weird is if you get for example, an iPhone 6S and put a 3 card in it...WFC just works and the same with EE. No special firmware. Maybe Apple know something we don't
Do you see the WiFI Calling option in Phone Settings with Three / H3G UK firmware on a phone that works with WiFi calling? I can't see any reference to that option on the Three help pages. If so, any chance of a screenshot?
Thanks
I am in similar situation with S7 Edge which currently doesn't have an option for wifi calling. I moved from O2 to Three recently. O2 wifi calling worked and the option was there. It doesn't have the option on Three.
Does anybody know which firmware to flash which will enable this option? I've downloaded both the BTU version and H3G version for the UK. Can anyone please confirm if either of these will enable wifi calling option?
Many Thanks.

I think you have a better chance with the Three firmware, but AFAIK, the issue is that Android phones are coded to a carrier. This doesn't seem to matter with VOLTE but for some reason VOWiFi is an issue. If anyone knows how to get around this, I'd be happy to know too.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the Three firmware would be better but I was hoping someone has tried this and actually got it working. Seems odd that the phones sold direct by Three have this by default but it seems almost impossible to enable if the phone was bought elsewhere. That's why I'm wondering if the H3G firmware I found on Sammobile.com has the feature or not.

Some posts earlier in this thread say they have WiFi calling working after flashing the Three firmware. This does not work on my LG G5, but you may be luckier with a Samsung phone.

I have a couple of Samsung Galaxy S7 edge duos dual-SIM phones in which I have SIMs from different network operators or MVNOs. One is usually a Three PAYG SIM and the other is a Virgin Mobile (now VMO2) contract SIM or other MVNO PAYG SIM.
I am in a poor signal area for all of the networks despite being in a built-up urban area of Aylesbury. I currently rely on a Home Signal unit from Three to cover that network but would prefer to use Wi-Fi Calling for all networks.
What do I do about the secondary network?
Which ROM firmware should I be using?
Why doesn't all firmware enable Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE for any network?
Ofcom have banned phones being locked to a network from December 2021 but the ban does not seem to cover these issues which are tantamount to locking a device to a network.
Ofcom needs to address these issues before the end of 2021 when some networks will have withdrawn support for their Home Signal type equipment and even 3G fallback for voice calls in 4G/5G coverage areas.
Hey guys,
Are any of you on stock firmware able to confirm whether it's possible to record calls that are made over wi-fi?
I've brought the S8 phone apps over to the S7 and enabled call recording in my others.csc, but as I didn't use this before I'm unsure of what the expected behaviour is. Can record calls made over 3G, 4G etc with no issues.
G935F - BTU - EE
I plan on traveling to Australia, buying an OPTUS (AU carrier) sim, canceling my T-Mobile service because I will be there a few months. When I return I want to switch to AT&T prepaid.
Should I leave the T-Mobile firmware or is it better to flash AT&T firmware. ? I noticed from specs that T-Mobile does not support band B28. Will flashing enable it? I noticed it listed for OPTUS below
According to a thread on whirlpool.net.au Australia is currently using these LTE bands
2100Mhz (B1) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Tasmania), Vodafone
1800Mhz (B3) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
850Mhz (B5) – Vodafone
2600Mhz (B7) – Telstra, Optus
900Mhz (B8) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
700Mhz (B28) – Telstra, Optus
2300Mhz (B40) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)

As a side question . -does flashing other official firmware affect root or Knox?
Just flash G950U1 XAA firmware and use unlocked fw for it all.

No it does not affect Knox. All the S8's are the same. There only difference is the firmware and csc flashed to it from the factory. I've been running the XAA for a while now. No wifi calling but I never use it anyway.

No vlote either. That matters to some, to me it sounds like they're in a tin can so idc.
I LOVE the unidentified number feature and a couple other little things the carriers kill along with ZERO carrier bloat. That's what this FW is really best for.

It's native in the phone settings and when you receive a phone call from an unstored number it shows on the call screen if it's suspected spam, reported spam or the name it's registered to. It also does the same when you dial an unstored number is the calling screen shows the number and then the name it's registered to. Text's the same when you receive a text.
I received a text that said "Hey this is Joanne" but I already knew because the bar along the bottom said her name.
