Greetings from a newbie!
I'm in the process of installing a Joying JY-UO128N4G (Intel Octa-Core 1,8 4gb ram 32gb ROM) in my 07 Volvo V70.
So far it has gone well ( apart from the volume being stuck at max, regadless of the volume being set to 0, 1, 2 etc - did not matter - it was still maxed out. This morning it was miraculously OK..), but I have a problem with 4G connectivity. The unit comes with a built in 4G card, and I've installed a SIM in it, and everythign seems in order. When the HU boots, it connects to the mobile network, and it indicates 4G. It even displays up/download "arrows", to indicate traffic. Brilliant.
However - here is the issue: Apps don't get internet connectivity!
Being new to Android, but fairly familiar with many other mobile devices, I think one or more of these remarks might be the cause:
- Wrong / no APN settings. Have seen other equipment indicate 4G, but no connectivity, due to lack of correct APN-settings. Can't find where to input/change them in the Joying ROM? Maybe it must be rooted?
- Some sort of software blocking of apps while on the move? No app I've tried works during driving/car being parked. Maybe the unit needs to be fired up via some other way than with the ignition key..?
- A bug.
Strangely, Spotify worked breafly, but I figured that might be down to some caching, and not the 4G miraculously started working..
I will try to contact Joying about this, but don't recon Google Translate will do me any favours..
Any help is appreciated!
This thing is absolutely amazing - it mends itself!
I did a complete software re-install of the latest firmware. Now it suddenly works again. Good!
Got the latest firmware from here the Joyingauto.eu site.

what country are you in and what sim card did you do with? how do you get a cell company to activate it?
Hi!
Im in Norway.
The problem was that the unit used an ancient APN-setting (probably due to the age of the sim card), which no longer work. I don't know why it worked the first boot, but after a reboot, there was no more LTE.
Problem was/is that some genius at Joying has decided that a black background color is brilliant in the settings app. Too bad Google has black/grey as the font color, which clashes with the black backround, making changing the APN settings pretty hard! I had to result to do make the changes at night, when there was no sunlight interference. It worked.
I didn't have to do anything to make it work with the service provider. As far as they are concerned, this is yet another Android based tablet..
One annoyance I have left to solve on my unit, is that the File Manager app keeps popping up on its own accord, randomly. I've been in contact with Joying, but their only solution is to update the software - which I've done, to no avail.

Thanks - I've done that one time already. It didn't solve the issue, but hopefully they have it under control now, and have a new version available for download.
I have a similar JOYING 10.1 4GB/32GB with a 3G/4G adapter for internet.
Could someone please recommend a service here in the US that would help me to get this unit online.
Thanks

I just bought the same unit( Florida) did you ever get the SIM card that works with the unit?

I have searched this and other forums and have not seen either this problem or an answer to it. Per AT&T's suggestion, I just upgraded to the new AT&T rom version that adds PTT and seems to have big problems. My current issue is that when I first boot up and connect via GPRS/3G all works well. When I get to a wifi area and switch to wifi, again all works well. However when I leave the wifi area (or just turn off wifi) I can't get any data via GPRS/3G. The balloon comes up saying it is connecting. The little "G" and bidirectional arrows in the top left indicate it is connected. However in the browser, it just continues to grind away with "Locating" in the bottom right corner until it finally times out and puts up a screen that says that the "page cannot be displayed because the connection was lost". I open the connection manager and press and hold the "Data Connection" icon until that goes off and try again, same problem. The only way I can get GPRS/3G data connection to actually work again is to reboot. Any ideas what is going on or how this can be fixed? Forgot to add that this is an HTC 8525. Thanks.
From your description I wasn't able determine whether AT&T's suggestion was aimed at remedying the issue, or if it's something that came about with the update.
Assuming the latter, you may want to try a hard reset first and run it for a bit before loading any other apps. Failing that, reflash the ROM. I had a lot of trouble with my radio when my 8525 was new, but it mysteriously cleared up after a few radio flashes.
Thanks but still a problem
Thanks for your thoughts here. I hard reset and reflashed.
Yes the firmware is the latest one that AT&T has suggested that everyone who had the older Cingular phones upgrade to. It provides the AT&T logo, the "push to talk" feature, and some other junk. I have contacted AT&T about this and their response was to send me a new phone that they claimed had the old firmware, since they have been getting a lot of complaints about the new firmware. It didn't have the old firmware and also it's SIM card reader appears to be broken. I called HTC and they said that they too have had lots of complaints about the new firmware quirks but had nothing to offer to solve them. Anyway, the old firmware had no problem switching between wifi and CGRS so I don't think it is in the hardware. On the other hand I'm surprised that nobody else is encountering the problem from the upgrade.
I'm having the same prob. Purchase three of these phones and the other users have little technical expertise. First I set up a sync with my office PC. Then loaded the ROM update. I run MAC's @ home had difficulty connecting to my home wifi. Finally determined that the 8525 would not accept the 13 key ASCII wep password. Needed to use the HEX. So I connected. Went to work and had problems syncing with my PC. Active sync had to rediscover the device. Now I'm back home and can't connect again. My Device ID changed names upon "resyncing" and I updated the Airport Base Station with my new name. I've spent a lot of time on this issue.. Maybe I need to send em back for an iPhone!
Well I found a solution to it
This is a great forum - though somewhat hard to search through thoroughly. Anyway the solution for me was to go back to ROM 1.34. Found how to do that through flashing from the micro card at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311704&highlight=cingular+8525+rom+version and getting the production ROM version at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades. Back to normal - everything works fine. Just for a trial, I also downloaded ROM V2.1.1 and it works find also - but sure seems a bit large - ends up with 42.9M of storage free vs V1.34 that has 50.25. Think I'll try the the memory expansion process at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298327&highlight=want+more+storage. That seems to at least provide a more than 9 megabyte smaller MBH file but I don't know what that translates to in memory usage yet.
Suspect there is a way to fix this problem but I haven't seen anything in the forums on it.
I have my sgs for 2 weeks now. GSM disconnects around every 2 days.
At service mode (*#*#4636#*#* - Phone information) i can see this repport:
GSM disconnects:
====DATA=====
State: inactive
disconnected with last try
at 00:59
fail because No Error
The question is: why does this happen?
Is this an android issue or a hardware problem?
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance

do you ever enter a building, subway, or some other location where the GSM becomes poor?

That's not the problem.
Gsm disconnects just like that ,at home for instance. And when I notice that and try to reconnect (settings- wireless networks- mobile networks - networks operators) it doesnt find ANY of them.
Then I restart the phone and gsm network is back.
If I dont notice disconnection in time (so I can restart phone, people just cannot reach me....quite frustrating...
i see what you mean now.
yes, i've noticed that on mine too, but.... that's because i was fooling around with some new Apps Widgets settings i was testing to control the radio and data to save battery.
Did you install any new Apps recently that might cause that?

Well I installed all kind of apps. but i have the feeling this problem was happening even before that.
And I dont need widgets to control data ( I think) because I set the sgs to use 2g networks only and I dont have apn configured( section is empty. Internet connec. only via wifi.

Well, my sim card is VERY old (2002) and the carrier (Telfort) is roaming into another carrier's network (Kpn) with no extra costs of course like real roaming, but still roaming (I get the little "R" next to the signal strenght bars)
Anyway this never happened with the Nokia 5800xm running Symbian OS and using the same sim card...
Starting to get pissed of with Android...
With Symbian you hack or root or tweak because you want to, not because you NEED to like with Android....
And then you prob. get side effects...
Thank you guys for your time
I would get a new sim card if I were you. Every android phone that I have had seems to work better with a good 3g sim.
Get a new SIM card.
same problem, different phone
i have the same problem on kaiser with flashed android on it.
sim is 2 years old, and now suddenly this happened, tried differents sim cards, but the problem persists. My guess is, it is a software problem.
Maybe i will report when I flash original WM6.1 rom onto it, if you are interested in the result
btw, this happened about two days ago and because of this im buying galaxy s so i hope the problem will be gone with new phone
did you guys see this other topic?

Why you think the problem will be gone if it's still android and I also got it with my sgs? Or are you counting on Froyo?
Yesterday I upgraded my sgs to froyo jpc with kies. I am new with Android but the post of Aery was so clear that i didnt resist: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769400&highlight=froyo+upgrade
I did get stuck on reboot but could get out of it after applying a cache/data/factory reset on recovery mode (3 buttons)
Now I am being carefull with the 3rd party apps., and so far so good, no gsm disconnections .
Froyo is of course better that eclair but Android is still disappointing to me.
You flashed Android onto a WM device (i'm impressed); could you not teach me how to flash Symbian onto my SGS?
Voice dialing (over bluetooth or not) and proper connectivity control (network, data, gps and bluetooth) of android is years behind Symbian; and such a well written, light OS, it will just fly on a high-end hardware like the sgs; but that is an issue for another thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7938430#post7938430
Pls keep reporting..

I think indeed that's not the same issue. My problem is that the radio signal get turned off during inactivity. That's why I got connection back after reboot: radio signal gets turned on again; later I learned how to turn radio signal back on without rebooting, but that is just a remedy , no real solution.
Try to upgrade to froyo, make a factory reset and be carefull with 3rd party apps. With froyo you will need less interfering tools anyway
I dont thing that my old sim card is the problem, but i'll try to replace it anyway...but first things first
Btw dou you have 3g turned on? Cause I never...
Another mistery: When I have 3G on I see those bars (signal strenght) dancing and that "death grip" thing happening:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LROTHrTR92k
But when I have it on 2G only the bars doesnt move even if I strangle it with both hands.....
Please repport later how it's going...
I had the same issue, i sent mine back and got my money back, i had also tried with different simcards and resets and nothing worked.. so hopefully my new galaxy wont have this problem. Its strange that these problems are so rare though.. But as long i get it going ill be a happy man.
fourth day with JPC ( and 4 days after a factory reset) so far so good no disconnections . I think problem is gone...
Today just to be safe, I got a new sim card....the other one was too old anyway(8 years)
i have the same issue, for a few days i can't get 3g. i'm seriously wondering about sending back my sgs. i've ttried all the settings, changed my sim..nothing...begin to think it was a fullish thing to change Desire to SGS..

Well... this is not the same issue.
I have 3G (WCDMA) disabled. I only use 2G (GSM) and WIFI for data/internet connection.
I Dont have a data account, I dont need it therefore I disabled 3G in order to save battery.
If you do want to use 3G, just go to settings - wireless and network - mobile network settings - network mode and set auto-mode (GSM/WCDMA or 3G/2G)
If it doesn't work, apply a data/factory reset and try again.
And if it doesnt work, it's probably hardware related and you should return it or send it for repair.
My issue is more complicated; next to the fact that I dont want to use 3g, my carrier is roaming to another network and probably Android OS or the firmware cannot handle it properly.
Android is still premature and the "Samsung - Android integration" seems to need a lot of development as well.
It is just a shame that basic functions like proper connectivity control just wont cut it. And Google is not doing any good either.
And dont let me get started on the voice recognition issue......
Hardwarewise, the SGS is superior that htc desire.....I wonder how it would perform if running Symbian^3 OS or Meego.....
I get a great sound quality from the stock music player just by mixing the equalizer and using the music clarity effect...just great...better than any other device I tried.
And the OFFLINE Gps experience is just great as well: the combination SGS - Motonav - External Bluetooth gps device is working like a charm.
I wouldn't change my sgs just yet......
yesterday i was swiching sims to determine if is a sim fault and suddenly i have my 3g/h back. happy owner again. i've tried all to do this, from firmware upgrade to servide mode settings..i don't know why but i'm ok again...

Hello,
I know its been a long time since you wrote this thread but I just came by it!
I have the exact same problem with you (I had it since August) even now with the official froyo. I tried factory reset and no new apps (that could cause the problem) but it still disconnects randomly in GSM mode. However, when I have it on auto (gsm and wcdma) I have no issues. I just disconnect data from the power button in froyo. I am wondering if you ever found a solution..
Chryssa
Well, I am subscribed to this topic so I saw your post.
Good and bad news:
First the bad one: No solution yet, it keeps disconnecting IF I stay on "gsm only".
And the good (or a little better) news:
I noticed that on sgs, using "gsm only" or "gsm/wcdma (auto mode) makes no difference on battery consumption....
By the way, this is a Samsung issue, not really an Android one.
On a HTC Desire HD, you can use "gsm only" mode with no problems...
Thank you for your answer!
I noticed that about the battery too. So not too bad, I just have to keep it on auto mode then..
Same issue
Im having the same issue but in a optimus t the worst part is that i cant get service at all.. when i press change network preferred it wont change and when i try to press on turn on radio it wont work either....
Hi everyone,
First I'd like to thank those fearless tinkerers that produced (and explained the how-to) the Froyo upgrades for the Huawei s7-104.
I actually bought the device only AFTER downloading the Indonesian upgrade (that was-and still is-the extension of my faith in you).
The process worked like a charm and I successfully checked and confirmed that the new version matched the claimed upgrade.
I later managed to root the device and now even enjoy a longer battery life thanks to CPU Master set on "on demand".
The only problems I encountered were:
- Sometimes the screen orientation gets stuck in horizontal or vertical and the device needs to be rebooted to unlock the orientation. This is minor and doesn't bother me that much.
-I have lost 3G connectivity and neither the carrier nor a mobile lab has managed to get a shred of data into the device with anything but WiFi.
The Network pane says that it's connected and should receive data.
The APN settings should now be reviewed and corrected since I brought the device to the carrier's office and, after their failure to fix the problem, to the lab (they told me they did anyway).
The SIM was then taken out and connected into another device. It received data merrily, proving satisfactorily (at least to the C.Y.A. carrier) that they could not help me further.
Everything else works beautifully, phone, WiFi, GPS, everything...
Any idea? I live in Mexico and the carrier is Movistar.
Thank you in advance.

screen orientation quick fix
can't comment on the 3G problem din really face it
you can try flashing to another rom
Zmey Mod from Belarus! would be a good choice
for screen orientation just install shake n rotate from the market
it's just a quick fix which can settle the problem
Thanks for the shake'n rotate tip! I'll try it!
Never heard of the zmey mod from Belarus. Is it in english or in local lenguage? I'll try to find it anyway.
Anybody out there who's actually had the same network connectivity problem that I've had? Can't be the only one right?
Thanks again,
Thimage
Connectivity recovered
I finally recovered connectivity by looking for the right APN on the web and I found it here:
decibel-elektrobeat.blogspot.com/2011/04/3g-de-movistar-configurado-en-xperia.html
The reason why it didn't work before is because for some reason it is not enough to correct the APN after flashing the Rom. You have to delete it and create a new one.
It works fine now.
Thanks. T
After an hour on the device it simply forgets it's connected. Even if I'm watching a movie it will stop aND say no connection. I've returned it once so I think it is software vs hardware. Anyone else?

Yeah mine does that also, not my fave, but I just turn the wifi off and then back on again. Sometimes it only stays on the wifi for 10 minutes! Hope there is a fix at some point.

Seems like a Samsung issue....
Looks like all along the Galaxy lineup there are wifi issues.
I tried everything, preventing wifi from sleeping, using wifi fixer, nothing seems to work.
Sometimes my wifi will stay connected, the upload will work, but I get no download.
Rebooting wifi on quick toggle seems to only do the trick.

Yep, seems to do it more often with a 5Ghz connection than 2.4 though.
None of my other 5Ghz devices (3 iPhones and an iPad) drop wifi.
Signal is on clearest channel available.
Pretty much isolated everything outside of this tablet.
I'm pretty techy with my home networking, so I'm at a loss with this one.
Yes, it has been updated and yes it has occurred on my home wifi, my work wifi, my doctor's office wifi, and unfortunately the hospital's wifi. All with the same outcome! My S5 doesn't do it nor did my S4 running Kit Kat.
So, still no fixes for this! As a previous poster now it is getting where if I'm playing a game it will drop after 10 minutes! I have power save off everything. While hitting the WIFI on off button works it is highly annoying! I want my WIFI all the time not when my tablet thinks I should!

Think I have a solution http://tinyurl.com/nfbgxds
Hope 5th is will help out so far so good for me!
I just got this tab 4 7 inch last week and I am having the same problem with connections showing connected but not having any data transfer. The steps in the above link did not help for me.
I have updated to the latest firmware posted on sammobile, both the Canada version and the nook (BNN) version. Neither have made a difference.
I have found another thread in thisnforrum for this same problem, and there wasn't any solution there either.
I did find wha I think might be solution but haven't proofed it yet. in the build prop there was two "ro.carrier" lines. I think there is only supposed to be one, so I commented out one.
Original Example:
ro.carrier=wifi only
ro.carrier=unknown
Changed example:
ro.carrier=wifi only
#ro.carrier=unknown
If anybody can confirm this makes a difference or not please post results
EDIT::
After two weeks without problem anymore it appears the fix was the static IP address not the build prop change.
I found threads going back to at least 2007 about Samsung devices having trouble with dhcp and all the solutions being manually assign a static IP to the device.
Same issue here. Sometimes I have to cycle the WiFi every webpage!
Both of the above solutions didn't work for me, unfortunately.
Edit: Okay, I may have found the issue, at least for me. Turns out, the tablet was auto-assigning the same IP as my RasPi. After setting a static IP, everything looks okay from here. Hope this helps!
Changing to static IP did nothing, I was having to reset wifi on the tab every time I turned on the screen.
I even had wifi fixer constantly running.
Finally updated to NJ3 and everything is working properly.
Looks like it's a FW issue.

It should be one line:
ro.carrier=wifi-only
Script can be added however by attacting to the rom on the correct line parameters and scripting for digital on board configuration (no smart card) QMAL gsm, gprs, 3g, 4g, even lte or 5g, or 6g, no sim card required researve slot for world phone, or dual networking. The problem is each phone has to be separately programmed so cell companiesnhave walked away from needing higher qualified employees by switching to smart cards. Cost way less and employes way less people and note, your phone didnt cost you a penny less. I been doing cell phone tweaking since the motorolla brick was cool. Currently I used Samsung Galaxy Note 8010 64-bit 32 gig converted to XAC (its the industry's mobile payment recieveing device you see at bars, its made from the model previous mentioned)[to-wit-it says on their site not to tell anyone about]-or else- build then added Debian, Jessie. Then switched the imei to XAC, installed the telephony.manager.is_network_roaming=true along with the prpper scripting for the support and am hooked up to Sask-Tell. Once I got it connected and registered so it had a sign in address with the system i swutched the imei to all 000000000000's now they dont even send me a bill. But it works. The guy at the phone company couldnt even tell me where i was calling him from and he said my phone was disconnected while I was on the phone with him from the disconnected number. lmfao have a good day.

i dont want to try the custom rom yet as there is a year warranty, unless i can make a copy of this rom just incase.
my last thought was may be making a back up of the store and maps and data on my phone with titanium and restoring them to the HU hoping that would bypass the prob but im guessing this would give me more prob then would solve.
Update -
it seems they just sent me a update file to try, will try it later when I get home. I also tried reinstalling play store still no good so fingers x the update they sent will fix this.
The file they sent me does that mean I have the there rom so I could try the custom one and revert back if needed with it (uncompressed it's 728.24mb)???
Thanks
Update
So I updated the unit and didn't make a difference,
But I have got it work - there was finally a space to park in front of the house, so I was able to connect to my wifi and it signed in, so it seems to be a problem when using a hotpot from the phone that seems to block Google sign in, coz it works with maps and tune in.
Does anyone have a work around for this problem, so I can use the hotspot coz parking on my road is a right pain so wifi is a pain but the hotspot is best.
I have the exact same model and it works with the mobile hotspot. I have contract with EE. While we're here, When u try to update from the system what message comes out? I got this message "no update image file". And another question, when I connect my phone by usb Evrythingworks fine like charging and easyconnection app, but when I go in explorer can't get to my phone files images etc to transfer them to the unit. Does it happen the same with u?
Hi m8, are you able to sign in and download from the play store? I'm on the three network, I wounder if its network related ??
Regarding the update, yea it would find the file but I found that it would fail in the GPS slot I had to use the USB connecters and I ended up doing it from the recovery menu, I would recommend using 4gb card/USB for best results,
With connecting my phone I only tried it once and it worked easyconnect came up and so on but I didn't try transferring files from my phone to unit will try it later after work and see what happens.
Hi guys, I'll apologise straight off for going slightly off-topic, but it doesn't look to have been asked elsewhere and I'm getting nowhere with Eonon as to whether or not the GA6162F will fit the facelift Mk4 Mondeo (2011-2014), can any of you help? I'd love to get one in and start tinkering...
Cheers in advance.
Hi Dogmanov, as long as its the same shape as the one you have installed it should be fine - I did buy one for my dad a few years back for his mondeo the old eonon running wince it worked great ,I think his was a 2011 model but can't really remamber.

Thanks cyber2k1! Time to sneak it past the Finance Committee and get playing...
I had the same exact issue same exact unit, I got mine working eventually, I was playing around in the settings and changing things for hours so I dot know exactly what I did. I think it worked after I rebooted my phone and change time settings to the correct zone...I was really all over the place so I'm not exactly sure what I did to make it work again.
So update I'm back to not being able to connect to play store through wifi hotspot on my phone...I didn't change anything from yesterday. All settings are the same. The only thing done was I turned off the car and came back to drive again in the morning. I can connect through home wifi. Gonna try and duplicate the things I did yesterday and will report back if I can get it to connect.
Found out what to do
So the way to fix this, at least for me is to connect to my phones hotspot and then while still connected reboot my phone....weird I know...
Eonon GA6162F hard reset
Hi guys.
Just bought a 2008 Mondeo with this head unit. Seems to have a problem with some of the windows in some apps and screens. Keyboard does not pop up and bottom row of the phone screen does not select when selected. Want to hard reset the unit and start fresh. How do you do it. Did soft reset with reset button but no different?
Hello, I also have exactly this model for a couple of years, I would like to know how I can do a Hard reset since it is going very slow and I barely have things installed, any ideas? Thank you
