Can anyone enlighten me on how to achieve this. I am on DRL7 baseloader 5. I wanna update to official pie.
im literally in the same boat. wouldnt even mind downgrading but cant flash anything on drl7
So I just use my SS10 usb 3.1 ports for odin and that takes care of the problems with odin. not sure which odins im using. maybe prince cosmy.

are there known documented issues with Odin and lower versions of usb? Ive been flashing with Odin since the S3 which i got 5 days after launch and had it rooted within minutes of being home as i had downloaded the stuff the night before and had it loaded up in Odin before i left to get the phone and im not familiar with an Odin / usb3.0 issue.

Im unsure if its usb port versions or the ports themselves. Over the years, one of the main recommendations when having problems in odin is to simply switch usb ports or switch odin versions. I have a new rig and have like 7 usb 3.0 ports and 2 usb 3.1 ports and 2 2.0 ports but when I've been personally using odin for my s8+, only my 3.1 ports work for odin. my front 3.0 ports didnt work for my s7 either.

So, yes before anyone tells me to read, Ive read the instructions on how to use Odin again and again. I downloaded Odin and the 64 bit usb drivers, i have a laptop running on windows 7. I put my phone in downloading mode and connected it to my laptop, but nothing seems to happen in Odin, no COM number, just nothing, I uninstalled the drivers and Odin and installed them once again, and i tried a different port...still nothing. I'm running on the leaked android 2.2.1, the phone is not rooted, just flashed with the update.
Any suggestions??....
Try a different USB cable/port... The one that is included with the Epic is a peice of crap as far as I am concerned.
Another idea... Try right clicking on Odin and running as administrator (not sure if this will effect anything, just throwing ideas out there).

Yeah I bought another cable i know the one that comes with the phone is useless.
Will give a shot to the administrator idea and see what happens o.0,
thanks
The other thing is that you must put your phone in download mode, open ODIN and THEN plug in your phone. Aside from that, the USB thing is your best bet.
Well...i tried running Odin as administrator, launched it before plugging the USB into the phone and the laptop...and once again...nothing...I'm using a Gigaware USB cable, this is just driving me insane >.>
My last bit of advice would be to check in IRC at #samsung-epic the people there are very versed in using ODIN and are very helpful

I've had this issue before myself. I have two Windows 7 machines, both 64 bit. One would recognize my phone in download mode, and the other would not. I installed the correct drivers on both machines.
Make sure you are connected to one of the USB ports on the rear of the machine. Some people have had issues using the front USB ports.
ok thanks, I managed to get it to work somehow, i repeated the process od uninstalling and installing the drivers, Odin and somehow it worked this time. However i had Kies installed on the laptop, so i decided to uninstall it just for the heck of it ....and well after that, Odin recognized the phone o.0.
But thanks to all of you for the support ^_^
i would love to know the source of the x64 driver...as i found it to be a load of horsecrap
the driver found on the samsung website installs on both x86 and x64 machines in my experience
i was running windows server 2008 x64 at the time and only got the phone working with the driver directly from the samsung website
peoples long winded history of drivers and windows makes for a bad situation...at least be willing to try THE MANUFACTURERS option first
i bought my phone used...but it did come in the original box...
i just wasn't sure enough, then, to say that it is BS for a company like samsung not to distribute some kind of media/drivers with, or preloaded on, the device.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-D700ZKASPR
well..i got the drivers from this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798067
and used BitZipper to extract them, it worked this time.
good news
enjoy dk28
it saved me from believing android was a suckers solution to windows mobile
my phone instantly locks gps now and the easy access to enabling 3g via the power button menu was nice
i am a believer...adb is my new god...reborn in code...blahblah...
actually i'm just glad something like a cellphone can simply work simply as it should
finally after billions of ages of fail
Well im actually having some problems with the gps navigation and lock. The location is not accurate, it was extremely accurate when i was running on 2.1 and i had no probs with neither of them. I saw a thread related to this issue before and ill see what can be done..

the only method that worked for me:
odin back to dI18 (.md5 extention removed/renamed to .tar extension)
get gps lock
odin dk28 modem (modem only) with victory_8G_100528.pit
gps lock again
odin dk28 (.md5 extention removed/renamed to .tar extension)
i actually didn't even try to get a gps lock after flashing the dk28 modem...
the key here seems to be performing the modem flash separately/first as there are multiple bootloaders working
When the official German ICS ROM LPY was released I decided to flash it using Odin rather than wait for the official UK ROM for my UK Note. I thought because it was an official ROM there would be little risk and I would be able to replace it with the UK ROM when that was released.
However, now that the official UK ROM is available I find that I cannot flash it with Odin because Odin no longer detects the Note in download mode. I also found that I could not use Kies because although it could detect the Note, it did not recognise it for updates.
I have never rooted my Note or flashed anything other than the official ICS ROM LPY using Odin.
So I had a working Note but no way of returning to a UK ROM or updating the installed German ROM. So I decided to change the CRC code to the German one ODT to match the German ROM and that seems to have fixed the Kies problem. Changing the CRC code does a factory reset but at least I now might be able to use Kies or OTA for future German ICS updates.
If you search using Google you will find loads of people who can no longer use Odin because it no longer detects their phone. Many reasons have been suggested such as bad USB cable, wrong or corrupt drivers, interference from Kies running in the background etc and I have tried those solutions without success. But I believe that in some cases it is the result of flashing the wrong firmware as I did
Some people have then tried to use recovery mode to solve the problem and ended up not being able to use their phone at all. There are others who are stuck on a buggy custom ROM and cannot use Odin to escape.
I am hoping that there will eventually be an official German ICS update that I can flash using Kies or OTA that will replace my current German ROM and allow me to use Odin again to flash the correct UK ROM.
I'm lucky that at least I can still use my Note normally even though it has German firmware. But if I eventually manage to get the UK firmware installed and running again then I will wait for the correct official updates for my Note in future.
You sure have a weird problem. Did you try on a different computer?
Maybe mobile odin could be helping you out, it's in play store.
i know that you really need the correct drivers to let Odin detect your device, installing kies takes care of that, but i know there are separate drivers around here somewhere to so you won't need kies on your PC (it highly interferes with Odin).
I would give you the link but am on my Note now.

Hi, uninstall Kies and reboot your PC. Then download the latest version of kies and install it again. Connect your Note via USB cable and wait for the drivers to get installed. Then put your phone in download mode, close kies and connect the Note to the PC. Wait for Windows to automatically download and install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed, open ODIN. It should detect your phone in Download Mode.

If you read some of the many posts by people who cannot use Odin to flash any more then you will see people have tried different computers, separate drivers, Kies drivers, starting Odin in administrator mode, several cables including official Samsung USB cable, trying Kies Mini, using Task Manager to stop any Kies software running whilst using Odin etc. but to no avail. Which is why I believe the problem for some people is within the Note and not the PC.
Unfortunately, in order to use Mobile Odin you need to be rooted and you need to use Odin get root. Although I read a post here recently where someone had developed a way to root without using Odin. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has used that non-Odin root method to use Odin Mobile to flash a new ROM.

I tried your method but to no avail because I think my problem and many others is within the phone rather than the PC.

Yes, that is the method I was talking about. You could try MobileOdin available in Google Play to see if you can run it and perhaps flash a rom. That would be interesting for it would eliminate all the PC problems.

Why don't you give it a go yourself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
I've just set up my device as i wish and have no intention of flashing it again..sorry
I am on LPY and was able to flash SpeedMod via PC Odin with no problems.
Try different USB port and use the original Samsung USB cable. I never used Kies before, so I am not sure about this part. I used to setup the driver installer only.
Hope it helps..
Short story I plugged in my phone into my car charger and smoke came out of my micro USB slot. The slot is now bad. I tried to plug into my computer through my USB hub and could not get it connected I then got a message that the hub detected a power surge, so I unplugged the cable. I want to take it in to Sprint because I have the insurance.
I'm running right now
Triforce rom
MJA
PhilZ touch 5 recovery
Kernel Version 3.4.0
Is there a stock rom Zip that I can just flash? I have looked and I can't seem to find one.
Should I get Triangle away and mobile odin? I have used odin to always flash my roms so I have no real experience with mobile odin. I have watched some videos and it doesn't seem to be too difficult.

Thanks for the reply, I talked to a guy that I know who is a Sprint tech and he said don't worry about it just bring it in and they will fix it. I brought it in and no questions asked or nothing replaced the charging port free of charge.
Before you ask, I've tried many different USB's including the one the phone came with, and I have tried installing the drivers multiple different times, and have used multiple different USB ports on my PC, including USB 3.0 and 2.0 (don't know if it makes a difference). It's also not a problem with the connector at the bottom of my phone, it will charge.
Phone Specs
Galaxy S5 [Verizon]
SM-G900V
Version 4.4.4
I only need this because I'm trying to downgrade to 4.4.2 for root, and I can't do that if Odin won't recognize my phone.
If you have any different drivers I could try, that might be it, I've tried multiple different ones though.
I don't have a custom ROM.

So I am trying to flash the stock firmware for my Galaxy Tab A 8” 2017 model through Odin and it keeps crashing when it is flashing dsp. I am using a Windows 10 pc and I’ve never had this problem before. I’m trying to restore to stock as when I tried to root the tablet via TWRP (which flashed successfully) it screwed up my tablet and put it in a boot loop. What can I do?

I've read that if a version of Odin doesn't work, try another. And of course, be sure the usb cable is a good one and not some thin crappy one that basically can only carry a current for charging.
Sadly, there seems to be so many versions of Odin... I'd consider going back some versions and running it in compatibility mode.
