A day before yesterday I got my S10plus and since then it has been 2 days and heating hasn't stopped. I don't have heavy apps on my phone, just normal Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and WhatsApp ( a hour of PUBGMobile), but even if I use my phone for 10 mins it gets heated up which I wasn't experiencing on my S9plus.
Display is on 1080p, Device care is optimized etc
Is anyone else is experiencing this issue?
Any help is appreciated.
Try to reset your phone settings in
Settings- General - reset
And if not helped make factory reset and don't restore any apps or settings from old backup
Just restore msgs and Contacts and download your apps from store and redo your settings again
It will solve your problem

Erase cache in recovery and recheck, if not solved then factory reset, do not restore apps and apps settings , configure the phone as per your liking and then erase cache and check again. S10 plus is a phone that remains cool unlike S9 series(excluding note 9).

When I got my S10 plus I didn't use smart switch or any cable connection to restore my data from S9plus, instead I set it up as new phone, downloaded apps from play store that's all. but still there is heating while browsing on chrome, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube etc. Also tried Wipe Cache partition but no hope.

36C for CPU isn't terribly high. To be fair, you went from an idle state to active use. But this is far from overheating. No processor maintains its min temp when being used. Once it returns to idle temps will gradually decr. There's something called a voltage plane, and depending on freq it spikes. Likewise, a display panel's temp should incr in relation to brightness. OLED pixels undergo a current change as brightness rises.

You can. The phone breaks the 40-50°C mold, it seems. I've passed the info along to Samsung, holding out for a follow up email. There's one bug where all but the prime core is kept at peaks; even when idling. Another oddity is LTE on the U1. Using it causes thermal spikes, which is very much out of character.

The phone is great dude
Any heat issue must be caused from software or something
I have the phone for a week now and it was hot only the first day
Also I had before it iPhone X and it was much warmer than this phone in every day usage

It's 100% user's fault if a phone overheats, unless it's hardware fault or a bad SoC, S10+ isn't affected, OP can't control his ****ty apps.

Something went wrong "somewhere" in your case is all I can imagine.
Factory reset the phone(yes, do it) , set it up , erase cache in recovery and recheck. Any unusual heating must not occur in this phone with the current build ASBA, unless you have a crappy app eating up resources.

No, I wouldn't go as far as cancelling. Samsung is working diligently to address user concerns. For example, they are aware of the fp's low accuracy on some models. With the SD model I wrote a letter, and provided a verbal account of my issues. And of course there are screenshots, plus steps to reproduce the needed outcome.
E: The phone is cool when playing games, encoding, and other activities that are considered intensive. For that reason I noted the context when heating occurs.

Yesterday I performed a factory reset from phone settings, set it up as new phone, downloaded apps from play store, again went into recovery mode and done Wipe Cache partition.
I can assure that my battery isn't getting heated at all because there is no heat below telephoto lens where battery is sitting, the processor is getting heated which I can feel ( the right section, below heart rate sensor).

When the phone isn't misbehaving my temps are decent, as you can see below.
Do you know if the problem begins after opening certain apps, using specific features, after x hours up, etc? Over the past 24hrs the mysterious heat bug hasn't returned on my S10+. Hard to say whether wiping Play svc and cache partition did the trick, as I'm using a diff combination of apps.

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new note 4 St N910C. Just after a day of usage I felt that it is getting hot when I play games on it. I closed all the background apps even resetted it but still no luck. My phone is getting heated up near the camera area. My question is that is this a hardware issue or a software one, because if it is a hardware issue I should try and get it replaced, if a software one I should better wait for a lollipop update.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

Well i bought this unit after along study of whether to get the exynos version or the snapdragon version, in my opinion I found the exynos to be better because many users suggested that this version does not heat up and works better, but now as I'm using it personally I think it heats up alot, the temperature I get is around 36-38 degrees.

Galaxy Note 4 heating [camera]
I purchased Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910G] a week back. It's on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
I am having a different problem for which I could not find any satisfying solution on the Internet. Whenever I open camera app, the phone starts heating up near camera & battery also drains very quickly [around 2% under 5 min.]
I know that the phone will heat up a little bit when playing high graphics games, but I don't think it should heat up too much when using camera app.
I have already factory reset [both soft & hard reset] the phone, but still it does not help. I contacted Samsung support, & they told me to 'Reset app preferences' from Application manger, but still the device heats up when using camera app.
I also cleared data of the camera app, but still the issue remains
The phone does not heat up at all on standby mode, but opening camera app raises it's temperature more than it should. Previously a Note 2 user, this problem was not there.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue on Note 4 ? Any ideas on this ?
The phone heats up only if you're recording 4k or 2k video. If you use camera generally & your device heats up.You must get your device checked

You can factory reset all day, it won't help. Thats not a problem, the camera just uses a lot of processor power and thus generates heat. You can't change that, you have to live with it

Sorry, but do you have any idea about CPU temperatures? 60 isn't bad. 40 isn't bad. 30 isn't bad. Even 70° and occasionally 79° would be acceptable. Don't put your phone into the freezer, ity not good to freeze the hardware.. Especially if you literally have no problem. The CPU is prone to temperature fluctuations and your values are fully normal in the world of CPUs. There is no best value, everything up to 70° is the normal temperature variation. Your phone doesn't have a problem, its perfectly fine.
Mine actually heats up while charging and using at same time. Clean master shows 70-75°C cpu temperature while using browser and stuff but 80+ while gaming, that's not normal right? I'm worried cuz I always used my old phones while charging and they never got this hot, I feel like it will melt someday :/ In what temperatures exynos operates?
I got my SM-N910F yesterday and installed LP 5.0.1 via OTA. Temperatures are 40+ when the phone isnt doing anything. While I did the Antutu Benchmark, it was around 50-52 degrees (Celsius). Feels much warmer than my previous Note 3 (which of course never had LP). And since i am not used to this temparature on my Note 3, i kinda worry about the temps right now. I read a lot that many have that problem since LP update. So whats normal and what would be too high for regular usage (not using Camera or playing Games) ? Is there an average i can go by and compare ?
And whats my alternatives now if I want lower temps , go back to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (currently have LP 5.0.1 Stock) or do I try a 5.x Custom ROM . Did the Custom ROMS fixed these heating problems or is that just something I have to live with ?
Thanks for any help.

So i feel like my Snapdragon S7 is getting hot when browsing web
And definitely when using the camera app.
Bought a laser temoerature gun and get between 33-42C after browsing the web
The latter was achieved during 1080p 60fps video recording for 5 min.
Is this normal or should i return it as tommorow is my last day?
Please comment what your temps are like during these apps.
Thanks!
My phone was getting quite warm when browsing and was draining battery. I kept disabling packages until this was fixed. Try this. Or if you are okay with full factory reset, try it and don't install any additional apps - just test the same thing first.
It shouldn't get hot while doing basic things. My phone only gets warm to the touch when I'm on VR and even then I don't consider it "hot". Disabling things or shut down all apps you have is not a fix either..it's just a workaround.. I would return it if I where you
My 935FD phone will get up to 96F (35C) while browsing or really doing anything with the screen on for more than 10 mins. It gets noticeably warm to the touch. I've already done a factory reset and disabled a few packages, but I'm not sure if this is just normal operation or not? Does everyone's phone get warm under normal use? What temps are you seeing after being in Facebook or just browsing for 10 mins straight? Trying to determine if mine might be defective as well.

I think I'm going to return mine today and get a new gs7
When I browse the Web the phone gets warm to the touch and it's annoying.
I get between 82-89F degrees just browsing the Web and if I try to use my camera
It gets to 97F like in 2 minutes.
My phone gets warm as well ehen browsing with Chrome, using the camera or facebook app. My phone is with the exynos chipset. I'm too concerned that might be an issue. I have already tried resetting the phone but it still gets warm ans sometimes even hot to the touch.

According to , my phone does got up to 36 C / 97 F while browsing the internet this morning. I let it cool down to 27 C / 80 F and took a 2 minute 1080p60 video and it went up to 32 C / 89 F.
Can anyone with a temperature gun measure theirs and see how it compares to the system temperature (e.g. BMW or GSAM) ?

My phone runs about 36c never seen above 40
Hi
So I bought my GS7E a week ago .. I started to notice that it heats so much when I use it
I just don't know if this is the normal heat for it or not so I wanted to know from your experience
so at normal base when I'm not using it it stays at 34-35C
When I use it for whatsapp, facebook an normal light use it goes up to 37C
when I charge it it goes up to 40C
and sometimes when it's in the car on in my pocket and nothing is running in the background it can go to 40C too
that makes it annoying to receive calls or to hold it and put it next on my ear
should I just keep it is it normal ? or is there a rom I could download? what should I do?
Hello to every one. Bought gs7 just two days ago.
I noticed mine gets warm after about 5_10 minutes of browsing the web. Right now its about 1 hour and its temp is 34`c. If i dont use it it goes down to 32 after some minutes.
After 20 minutes of playing gta vice city it reached 35 and afer 5 minutes of 4k recording it reached 37.
I wanted to know should i consider it normal?
Many forums state that 40 degrees battery temperature is not unsusual . However, 3-4 beers is also not unusual, but it does do damage to the brain.
On batteryuniversity.com I found an article:
"Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. A battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered elevated temperature and for most Li-ion a voltage above 4.10V/cell is deemed as high voltage. Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling. Table 3 demonstrates capacity loss as a function of temperature and SoC."
I think this is frightful.
My S7 runs at an average of 32 degrees. (23 degrees ambient)
After half an hour of Gear VR it runs up to 43 degrees.
This means that on average this S7 runs above 30 degrees!
Should I ask a replacement or is my logic totally flawed?
Hi,
Mine, with factory reset and nothing running on background (S Health and all stock google and microsoft apps disabled), is not going below the 34 degrees without doing anything..very annoying touching the back and feel it warm.. I think I will ask for a replacement or at least a check in a experience store here in London..

Mine has gone up to 40 Celsius I have the exynos version that what the phone info app say
i notice mine would run that temp on with 4g on. so i was looking through my phone and fount google sync was turned on and i turned it off. That fixed the heat problem.
Hey guys, i have the Chinese variant of the s7 and mine also runs warm just browsing chrome, though I have to use a vpn as well. I'm past the point of getting a return, but they say I can take it in to get it checked. Have you guys had your s7 tested and is there anything they can do if there's anything wrong with the phone? I'm very frustrated over this, as I thought there would be improvements over the s5. Mine operates around 35c according to cool master and it's frustrating having a hot phone. I'm thinking of getting the supcase so I perhaps won't feel the heat so much. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it normal for the snapdragon s7s to run a tad warm? And, you guys use a case that prevents you from feeling the heat? It's hard to use this phone naked, as the whole thing is metal and glass, so it's hot in your hand.

You can install Wakelock detector to check what services are using cpu.
In my case i have *net_scheduler* wakelock from Google Play service and there's no way to turn it off.
Just wait for a software update. In the latest update my battery life really sucks.
S7 Edge snapdragon version here.
Net_scheduler can be stopped with amplify but need Root and xposed.
have you tried the samsung package disabler(no root required). after i disabled a bunch of the bloatware and a few cycles im getting over 6 hrs. sot with heavy usage.
Awesome battery life for me and this is my first day of having the phone
Try uninstalling Facebook and opt for Facebook Lite, it will also help to increase battery life. Further I have came across some great tips to improve battery life on Galaxy S7 Edge. There are plenty of apps available which can automatically help you terminate background processes, such as Greenify, although it works better with Root Permissions.
3h of SOT is the normal for me :/

That's not normal what tasks/apps are you using regularly?
I hate to say it to you because I know what kind of pain in the **** it is, but there's always the possibility you have a defective battery. 3 hours is absurd. Even when I have this thing rockin all day long with games, facebook uploads, netflix, etc, I go to bed with about 20% battery. You should exchange yours
I'm not sure about the battery.
I did the latest update on mine the other day, and its only from then that its been bad. It gets hot, slows down, freezes and drains the battery. Do a restart, and it works fine for a few hours.
I can not for the life of me, find a reason for it to suddenly slow down, and freeze, and use loads of battery. Obviosly something is draining it, and causing it to do this, but what.
Can the latest update be uninstalled

try going into settings, storage, tap internal, scroll down to cache and tap it and delete cache only then shut the phone down for a few minutes and reboot. Helped me....
Make sure to turn off Google Backup. My phone would die quickly when this was enabled, but I turned it off, cleared cache, and rebooted and it doesn't do it anymore. This showed up as high Google Services use on my phone with it keeping the phone awake. I like GSAM battery monitor to keep an eye on things. Also, if you can, restrict background data for Google Play Services. I think this is only on the SD820 models though.

Cel signal can drain battery quicker on in some locations or poor services but that's still pretty low for a s7 edge i got 3-4hrs sot with standard s7.
I use the same but do play games too
Switch to 2g when you know you're in bad signal areas. I use a notification app to jump straight to that setting for ease. Makes a difference for me. Always use 2g when in on my wifi or at work.

Same here, started with like 6 hours SOT, now at 3h. Resetted it a few times, tried many different ROMs, etc. Nothing.
Have to live with it I guess

What device is this? Which S7
Hi guys,
I just got a new s7 edge. Been used for two weeks now.. it gets quite warm and at time quite hot suring operation like browsing web youtube checking emails.mostly the top right side and camera area. Im not sure if its a defect or not.. it doesnt get to the point where the phone shuts down but its still warm..i know the normal stuff like getting hot during charging or using the phone during charging. This is when the phone is being used and off the charger .
Simple tasks 30 to 40 degrees celsius youtube and web browsing it goes between 40 to 50 degrees. And for games it goes upto 60 degrees celsius..
Is the phone meant to be this warm/]hot ??
Please help..
I tried the normal procedures. Safe mode , format etc . I disabled apps. optimised apps etc.. still quite warm. When the phone is not in use its cool as a cucumber .
Really weird. I can play games with really sick high end graphics and the phone stays quite cold. The only moment when my S7 Edge gets quite hot is when I record slow motion video.
How is Your battery life? 4-6 hours SOT is normal. If You have less then You should check what app uses Your phone.
Also You can try first, formating the phone(data etc) and then flashing new rom with Odin. It will rewrite whole system partition.

SOT is excellent i average between 4.5 to 7 hours..
My app usage is fine..they say certain apps can make it warm.. I am using cpu z ro monitor the temperatures..
Not sure whether i should return this phone and get another one. Seems there are people with overheating s7 edges..
Well I guess if it doesn't bother You then You can keep the device..
It's a problem with a lot of the samsung phones I've previously had (S3,S4,S5,S6,and now S7 edge) on the bright side, it keeps me really toasty during the winter weather.
This is the first Samsung phone I've ever owned that doesn't get warm. Its the exynos version. I would be worried if yours is getting very hot for no reason.
It gets warm while i start using apps.. like browsing the web pn google chrome and listening to music on google music . Goes up to 40 to 50 degrees celsius..
On the other hand watchinf a video on vlc media player the phones nice n cool..

CPU can get to 80C and that's still in range for normal work, so unless it gets choppy or shuts down - don't worry. see what apps are the most battery consuming ones
Hi all,
I got my S20 a couple days back and never since that day have I not seen my phone heat up every now and then.
Heavy multi-tasking ; this thing starts to warm up which is normal but what is not normal is how excessively hot this device get when using the camera for a little over 5 minutes , whether it is recording videos or clicking pictures, this device becomes unreasonably hot.
Playing a little bit of game on highest settings for a couple of minutes shouldn't be causing as much heat as the S20 ends up generating.
I am skeptical for the logetivity of this device if this heating up keeps up on such trivial tasks.
Not sure, but has anyone before ever experience this kind of problem and has seen the OEM actually fix it with mere software updates?:fingers-crossed:
Let's discuss the status of each of our devices and figure if only a bunch of us have the devices which are behaving like this or is it happening with all of our phones?
SD S20 owners can also pitch in for comparison.:good:
Thank you.
Yes I'm also experiencing same thing. Even watching a 3-4 minute video on YouTube makes the phone feel warm. Camera heats up the phone very quickly.
Hope Samsung solves the issue.
Same problem on camera it heats up rilly fast, not seeing that in you tube though..
Same here...or even worse. 5 mins on facebook/twitter and then the device becomes obviously warm.
Same thing happens when doing wireless charging. It still gets warm quite quickly even when fast wireless charging is disabled.
Exynos S20 exynos 990
Same problem. So I went to Samsung Service center and told them the problem regarding this overheating issue. What they are telling me is that 41.8 degrees(what they have read from my device using a thermal scanner) is normal (I don't think so as 42 degrees for trivial task is absurd) also they inform me that they will reinstall the operating system once again and check whether the problem still persists, if yes replacement will be done by giving us one certificate that we can take it to the shop where we have bought the phone and get a new s20 (what a lengthy process).

New Software updates
Since I wrote this post, there have been two updates pushed by samsung.
None of them made any dent to the slew of problems that this phone has been having.
I tested antutu score, I know they are not the real test for day to day usage but these scores have actually dropped since latest update.
The camera albeit is better at focusing , I can testify to that as I made two videos before and after the updates and I can see some difference but the heating is still going on like crazy.
Now I think, Samsung should have added a heat vapor chamber in the phone to manage this hot garbage.
Very disappointed to have payed so much and not even get the performance as good as the last year's SD devices.
Facing the same issue. I just want to know how can I get is replaced.
Samething on Exynos. When it hits 40c, it automatically switches to 60hz and get back when it cools down. Exynos was never good.
But one thing I can say for sure if you are worry about longevity. Never user your phone while it is charging. One thing is using your phone hot while discharging. Another thing is using it while charging and it will definitely impact battery life long term speaking.
I would disable fast charging too.
Same here! And if you have like 30-35% battery and your phone begins to heat up, say goodbye to 120hz, I think it throttles so hard that the performance can't go beyond 60.
It is really very very disappointing .It gets up so hot just using the device continues for 30 min. Once the temp cross 40+ it switches to 60hz. hahahah for this we have to pay a premium price.
Have already started to have 2nd thoughts for next galaxy devices with exynos. really really very annoying to use this phone these day in hot summers.
I hope to get it fixed soon. if not probably iam goning to quit this phone. very disappointed.
Display turns into yellow
Same problem here with ultra exynos after watching serval videos and using camera for 10 to 15 mins. At low brightness display turns yellowish because of heat and screen turns into 60 hz automatically. Has anyone noticed this yellowish problem?

That's strange. I have noticed 2 times yellowish display like a filter and after increasing the brightness it was OK but after reducing again it went to yellowish. Thank you for the info..

Same. But it wasn't happening before so it might be a software bug.

Same issue
Same problem here guys, I am very frustrated.
First of all why make two variants, one with snapdragon an other with exynos?
Why this discrimination?
Secondly why should I pay for a flagship and get a less than flagship experience?
I hope it is partly software fixable.
I am so gonna be very unpleasant and persistent at support. Greece here and bought s20 two days ago

It goes back to the early 90's when Samsung made a trade deal with Qualcomm. As a result of the trade deal, Samsung were allowed to use Qualcomms products but only in the markets where Samsung's products didn't compete directly with Qualcomms i.e the USA.
Nobody held a gun to your head when you bought the device. You could've just done a simple Google search and found a way to import the SD variant. Samsung aren't discriminating - it's called business.
If you dont like the Exynos variant, the OnePlus 8 is being announced on the 14th - that'll surely have the SD865.
It sucks, the only software solution I can see is throttling TBH.
Honestly thinking about cutting my losses on my S20+

Least expected from a flagship
I have a S20 and it heats up to that level that with a cover also it gets uncomfortable to hold. And this observation is with not any heavy use, very routine use like checking Gmail, watching Youtube, browsing Instagram.
I sold my one plus 5t and got this phone, very disappointed, should have waited and bought a one plus only. Samsung, if you are hearing me please fix this - if it's a hardware issue, please recall and provide a replacement, if it's a software issue please fix. But stop asking customers to go to service centres as it is not a specific problem to any phone. Most if not all exynos customers are facing it.
We been really ****ed over by samdong with latest updates the charging has gone from 1 hr to charge from 0 to 100 too 80 mins and only reason i can think of is because of the overheating that exynos is suffering so we pay nearly 1400 notes for this piece of **** and its getting worse on every update **** you samdong
