Third party app uses noise cancelling mic - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I've noticed Snapchat uses the secondary/noise cancelling microphone and it sounds like crap. Anyway to fix that? Would that be on Snapchat's end or OnePlus' software.

Dealing with the same thing and have no idea how to fix it other than wait for a future update

Microphone Recording and Call sound

Anybody else got TERRIBLE sound when recording or using the A500 for VOIP calls or Skype whatever?
Really awful, and when recording you can hear you own voice clearly indicating the microphone is in front but why?
The recording image is pretty f-ing good! But sound is very disappointing... Is it possible to fix this? Or is a permanent issue?
Can anybody else comment on their recording quality?
Would be greatly appreciated, we gotto make the most of out Iconias right!
The microphone cuts-off everything above approx. 3.5kHz and the noise cancellation (2nd mic under the SDCard cover) seem to make things even worse. You can try to cover the 2nd mic with your fingertip.
I had a tablet that had a problem with the microphone. It worked ok for voice searches and recordings at the beginning, it never worked for skype or google talk video chats. The finger over the microphone thing worked for skype, not so much for google talk. After about a month it stopped working for everything and gave me an "audio connection" problem. Called acer, they said it was hardware related...they offered to fix it, but instead I brought it back to best buy and got a new one. The microphone works spectacularly now. If you can, bring it back and get a new one....
This is a BIG EPIC failure for Acer... I mean its such a small thing that they could have done better, nearly ALL tablets have decent mics...

Microphone Volume?

Is there any way to adjust the microphone volume? I just got mine and so far it's really great, but when I tested gchat the mic volume was way too low and the other person could hardly hear me. I also tested it by taking video and using the volume rocker but it didn't do anything. Still low volume.
Anybody? Am I the only one here?
Can somebody please test theirs out and confirm the volume?
microphone issues
I too am also having microphone issues, i.e. when on a gchat (video) the person on the other end can barely hear me. Video chat worked great but whats the point if you cant be heard? Havent found any mic sensitivity settings. Any help or ideas?
I talked directly with Samsung and customer support didn't know anything about anything really. He told me tthat the volume keys control mic level which isn't true. He also said ther sshould be a mic volume button in chat which also isn't true. Maybe the feature iis built into their touchwiz update but we'll see about that.
In the meantime i know that wearing headphones while on chat video solves the issue, which memeans its most likely an overly aggressive noise canceling issue that should bbe aable toto be fixed with a software patch.
Ignore the typos. The keyboard lag is horribly frustrating!
When using GrooVe IP I found the same issue. The person on the other side could not hear me unless I had the tablet up to my face as if I was talking on the phone. The mic is definitely not calibrated to work in speakerphone mode and I am not sure how to force it.
I've been using android for over 2 years and I have never seen anything to control the sensitivity of the mic. I bet this could be done in software easily if I know knew how to program. Maybe one of the devs could make a widget that forces the device to always be in speakerphone mode.

Its gotta be as simple as turning off or modifying the noise cancelation on the mic.

Noise Cancellation

I know there has been a few threads about this and seems nothing has came about with this issue. I posted in the thread below and a few pm's and no reply.
When talking on the phone, the person on the other side says it sounds garbled or cutting out in noisy areas. In the car its the worst on the other hand its fine in quiet places. The spec sheet cliams that there's some kind of Noise cancellation software which I haven't seen. Has anybody been able to resolve this issue.

Well called samsung and they me told to send in my second phone in. I explained the issue about the mic to the tech which said they never heard about that issue. Ok well havent got a chance to make it home yet to test it but they replace more than just the mic:
Original Problem:
TECHNICAL INQUIRY - AUDIO/SPEAKER/SOUND/VIBRATION - SPEAKERPHONE NOT WORKING
Problem found:
RINGERTONE INAUDIBLE/NO ADJUST - CAMERA FAILURE - LOCK UP DURING OPERATION (SW)
Solution:
REPLACED COMPONENT - REPLACED COMPONENT - REPLACED PBA
Til i check it when I get home, just to let you guys know. The problem at the top, there system didn't have an option for the microphone. They replaced a lot of stuff but the mic was the only problem? I was liked its not the speaker just the mic to the tech. She said it was in the notes about the problem. I've been very happy with samsung trying to fix this issue. so far til i get home.
Edit: Returning my second one. I'm sad to see it go really like it beside the mic problem. Did samsung happen to fix this later on in a rev. batch?
Nobody yet ?
There is no true noise cancellation on the NS.
It existed on the nexus one, and it exists on the galaxy s 2 line.
Here's the link to the article (it's mainly talking about Siri, but take a look at the pictures on the bottom):
http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-57371624-264/why-apples-a5-is-so-big-and-iphone-4-wont-get-siri/?utm_source=loopinsight.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+loopinsight%2FKqJb+%28The+Loop%29
Now I know this doesn't 100% rule out that there isn't some lesser form of noise cancellation on our phones, but if it exists, it's damn near useless to my ears (compared to the above tech which definitely works).

Do I have a faulty front microphone?

I noticed that when I was playing with Snapchat and was trying to record music from my earbuds that the best place to hold my earbud was next to the hole on the back of the phone and that when I held the earbud next to the speaker on the front (specifically the bottom one) the audio from the headphones was almost inaudible. This seemed pretty weird to me since when I talk to people it's usually into the bottom part of my screen and not the back of the phone... Regardless, when I switched to the mic on the back it was equivalent to hearing the music directly from the earbuds. Any reason for this?
My microphone wasn't working that well..everybody I talked to on the phone said I sounded muffled . I got a replacement today. You have to notify project Fi
It's a common problem, RMA won't fix it as it is a software issue.
It happens because of noise-cancellation being set to too aggressive. You can't change it without root, so we'll just have to wait for Google to fix it via patch.

camera making hissing sound op5

when ever I open camera in my one plus 5,it makes a hissing noise, like some fan starts rotating inside the phone.
it doesnot happen for the front camera,it only happens if i open the back camera
does anyone have the same issue?
previously I did not have this problem.
Is this a software issue?or a hardware issue?
I can hear the noise,if I place my ear to the back of the phone.
Is it due to autofocus of the camera??
It's called coil whine and I've noticed it too just yesterday after a long call. My suggestion is to RMA the device. Although it's not a serious issue, so idk how they will handle it.
