F has a little better processor. U has many more available cellular bands.
Okay today I saw on Sammobile that A3 2017 starts receiving nougat and some people reported that they got new S8 UI or Samsung Experience 8.1. I really want that on S7 Edge but the question is when and will Samsung release it ?
What you guys think ?
Not yet. But there are full port rom of the Galaxy s8 for s7/s7 edge. Here is the one I use:

Vodafone Australia has confirmed Android 7.1 for the Galaxy S8 / S8 +. With a bit of luck, the Galaxy S7 / S7 edge will also receive this update with Samsung Experience 8.1. Anyway, that's what I hope
It is very disappointing to see that top samsung phones like the s7 edge have not got the samsung experience 8.1 ui, whilst phones like A5 or A3 have already got it.
Why is that? S7 edge has better processor, more capabilities and used to be the last year's samsung flagship. Why would samsung decide to push this update firstly to the A series rather than the S7 edge...
Maybe I'm missing something? But am I the only one that thinks that Samsung Experience is much the same as the S7s' Touchwiz? The only difference I can tell is icons and widgets. It looked like they just changed the name + a little update and marketed well just to lose the bad rep that Touchwiz got. And for context I am a bit of a Samsung Galaxy fanboy, so I'm not hating on Samsung.
No, android 7.1 will not be released for s7 series nor for s8 series, its sad but its the truth, 7.1 for s8 on vodafone was a typing mistake, our s7 edge will only get latest ui with oreo update next year around april-may

i hope we get Samsung Experience 8.5 instead of 8.1
i think Android Oreo will be coming so where in May or June.
May or June? maybe at that time l'm no longer using my s7e anymore...
Has anyone with an unlocked S8 (US) received the Oreo ota yet?
Ive always had Verizon branded Galaxy / Android phones in the past so I am not as familiar with the unlocked ota process. Do unlocked Galaxy phones typically receive ota updates last?
I have a Tmo device on U1(unlocked) firmware and haven't received the update yet. It's somewhat annoying that both Vzw and Tmo got oreo before the unlocked.

Unlocked variants are usually the last ones to get the updates
 just got it..MetroPCS unlocked S8.

That is not the unlocked variant. If it is it has been flashed with SM-G950U firmware for MetroPCS. Your phone might be unlocked but the OP was asking about the SM-G950U1.

Why is unlocked variant last to get updates? No carrier bloat to update, so technically it should be first.

Unfortunately that's just how it's is, hence why Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint have the official Oreo update including the exynos variant. As for unlocked variants they'll eventually get it, but you'll probably get Oreo root faster than your official update. Or if you're impatient just grab an Oreo beta and work with that.
My Verizon s8+ that I use my tmobile sim got it yesterday. It changed the Verizon boot logo to tmobile. No more Verizon bloatware.
They said the U1 beta testers would be the first to get it too and that didn't happen.
Who ultimately pushes the ota for unlocked phones? Is it the manufacturer (Samsung) or the carrier that you're using the phone on?
If it is the carrier, then I suppose it makes sense that they would prioritize their locked variants first.
Waiting for Oreo OTA
Re: They said the U1 beta testers would be the first to get it too and that didn't happen.
Yes. It's taking a great deal of patience. Samsung seems to have appreciated our feedback as beta testers and then led us out to pasture and left is behind. I think I'm running a Jan 16 beta build and have been waiting...
What software version are you guys on? I am still on nougat 7.0. Are they going to push out 8.0 and skipping 7.1?

Here in the states, my SM-G950U updated to Oreo v8.0.0 from v7.0 yesterday afternoon (March 20). Samsung Experience v9.0, Build number is R16NW.G950USQU2CRB9.
Security patch level is 1 Feb, 2018.

I was told that the unlocked variant needs all US carriers to sign off on it before they can send it out.
I'm running beta Oreo for U1. Still no update. I wouldn't mind so much if the lockscreen didn't interfere with listening to music, the music gets slow, choppy, distorted sounds when the lock screen turns off my display. Can't listen to music in my car, it's so annoying. Wish they'd expedite the update like now. They basically jacked my radio with that bug. lol

no that's bull****. that defeats the entire purpose of getting an unlocked phone.
The unbranded and unlocked version must work with both GSM and CDMA networks. They also must work with the carriers features like, WiFi calling, call waiting, etc. If I understand this correctly, they will require some form of carriers' certifications. Therefore unlocked phones will face delays from both Samsung and the carriers. I made a mistake of not believing former owners and publications about slow updates when I bought my S8 from Samsung. I have since corrected my mistake and bought a Pixel 2. You'll have to adjust to a plain Jane Android but you must give up something to get the timely OS updates from Google.
I am now fully convinced that Samsung will never change and Samsung phone owners who are dissatisfied with the unlocked OS updates can buy phones other than Samsung. Sony seems to be serious with the US market with their new Xperia XZ2.Sony's OS is as close to plain Android and their updates are not bad. My 2-yr old Xperia X has been on Oreo 8.0 for awhile now. Essential can be a player too.
Do yourself a favor. Stay away from Samsung if your priority is timely OS update.
If they let Snapdragon Users unlock bootloaders this was not a problem. May they will let us do that or some one will find an exploit i mean, yo can unlock bootloader on china snapdragon s8. #IWillBuyMyGalaxyS10WithExynos

Well I hope this is true for Oreo, but I doubt. The 7.0 the unbranded fw for at&t doesn't even allow VoLTE or WiFi calling out of the box.
Not sure about ATT but Oreo works on those features from T-Mobile. By the way I failed to mention that I am on Oreo Beta in my unlocked S8 which I used with Tmo.
It would be a waste of money to buy one now because the 5G modem is not inside the relief S10 plus has as of right now correct? So I should wait until like the end of the year if I'm going to buy an S10 Plus? Thanks in advance!!!

I debated about waiting for the S10 5G as well but the lack of a Micro SD slot pushed me towards the S10 Plus instead. That and you also have to keep in mind that while 5G will soon be rolled out, it won't happen all at once across the country and only in select cities for a time. 4G will most likely still be relevant for at least another few years depending on how fast the 5G network is expanded for your carrier.
Just saw a Verizon S10 5G with Android 10 today and it works but is very buggy. As far as I know Android 10 is not being tested on the AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint versions. For those of you who want to the the PDA/CSC/Phone here it is: G977UVRU2BSJ3/G977UVZW2BSJ3/G977UVRS2YSJ3. (this is an internal build so you will not be able to download the firmware using SamFirm)
@Altair571, do you happen to have any pics of it by any chance? It would be incredible if you can share something like that.
Sorry I am unable to share pictures of it.
i read its releasing today android 10 for verizon please confirm>
It's been out for three days now.
