Can anyone point me to a guide to root the original, stock Marshmellow Android version of the G4 Plus? All I see are Nougat and Oreo guides

Thanks. Any tips on how to get ADB to see the device? It refuses to, so I cant unlock the bootloader. I've tried 3 different USB drivers off motorolas sites and 4 different cables. It just doesnt work.

Fastboot devices command does not show your devices serial number?
What PC you have? Disable all firewalls and driver signature verification, also try other PC of possible or other USB ports.

Guess 4th time is a charm, it worked, all rooted now. Thanks for link!!

Huawei P8 Lite (ALE-L04) - Driver Questions

Hey guys. I registered here a while ago, but this is my first post.
I recently updated my Huawei P8 Lite (ALE-L04) to lollipop. Anyways, I want to unlock the bootloader and root my phone, but to even start that I need drivers for my computer to detect my phone. I tried installing HiSuite and it couldn't detect my phone. Can anyone provide me some links on where to download the proper drivers for my computer to be able to detect my phone please? As far as unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone, I think I can do that part (Huawei has a tutorial for it I think). Any help would be great. Thanks!
hi, try with the universal adb driver.

Thank you very much guys. I unlocked the bootloader for my phone now. Huawei only provided the tutorial for unlocking the bootloader.
I tried the rooting method for ALE-L21, but that doesn't work for ALE-L04. On one of the steps where it says I should be in a black screen recovery mode (no GUI), I get a white screen recovery asking me to connect my phone to my computer and run HiSuite. I did search around (not too deep) and couldn't find a solid method of rooting for the ALE-L04.

kingroot only works on 4.4.4, for 5.1 you have to flash supersu through TWRP
I've tried Kingo Root and it failed (before knowing that it doesn't support lollipop).
And I tried rooting my phone using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/step-step-guide-to-unlock-bootloader-t3150616
I read your assertion that "I upgraded my P8 ALE-L04 to Android Lollipop (6.0?)..."
I want to do that too, but I don't know how? Can you help me please?

Yep on Cyanogen OS it worked without any problem, easy process. No idea if it works under ZUI, did you tried Windows version as well?

Yes now I'm on CM13 but I did my root on COS 12.1 before, KingRoot works on both ROMs for me.
Yes, for me rooting gives a lot as I'm using Xposed modules like Amplify and Greenify and some other nice software, but if you don't find it useful don't do it Read on internet what ROOT gives, it's not useful for everybody, but for me is essential.

Impossible to root?
Hi guys,
I have been trying to root my device for 2 days, with no success.
I have tried 2 different Windows computers, just to make sure that I wasn't making any mistake with the drivers. The problem is that I never get to see my device when I launch the command "adb devices". Developer option is activated, ADB modeas well, OEM unlocking as well. Driver installed (Google generic one and tried also ZUK USB drivers 1.0.5), I get to see 3 devices in System Properties:
- under portable devices
E:\
Z1
- under ShenQi ADB Devices
android ADB interface
Can anyone suggest what should I do?
I don't get the RSA Authentication authorization request from the device once I plug it in....
Really no idea of what to do. Should I try kingroot?
Thanks in advance
Marco

Use the tool in the link below and follow instructions. It will do everything for you and install a custom recovery and let you install su.
Would recommend uninstalling all previous USB drivers and start again.

What are the problems associated with rooting the 6P?

I'm receiving my Nexus 6P finally on Monday, as usual I will unlock the bootloader, flash the latest factory image, and root as a start, but I have randomly seen some people talking about problems they are facing after rooting their 6P, what kind of problems are those? I have almost never had any problem with root with any device -let alone a Nexus.
By problems I mean things not working
I'm not sure what threads you're referring to, but there should be no issues after rooting your device. If there are people having problems it's most likely user error. When you get your phone check out my detailed guide here:

I got my device today, but it's the European model, does the same factory image for the US model work for the European one? Do I have to do anything different than your guide?
Another question, what are BP Tools in the bootloader and Factory? Is that a shortcut for factory reset?

I did install the SDK OK and I can get the device on adb devices, but not on fastboot, I get nothing and on the phone it says connect USB data cable - I tried both USB 2 and USB 3 port and I tried to search for driver automatically but nothing. The device appear on device manager as Android. I'm on Windows 10, any idea or a certain driver to install? Thanks in advance!

The factory images are universal, so just follow the guide. I'm not sure what BP Tools is/does.

CUN-L21 Struggling to unlock the bootloader and root the phone.

I'm searching all over the internet for a method to root this damned phone. All of the thread that i saw mention to unlock the bootloader but, apparently, there was an official method before but now it's not available anymore. I'm struggling to find even the drivers for this phone. There is an updated guide?
I am also suffering bro. please inform if you get to know anything about unlocking bootloader of this phone for free.

I'm also struggling. I have one of these and I'm not sure if DC-Unlocker still works or not, because I'm having issues with the correct drivers. I have the right drivers for fastboot, but not for regular adb mode. The phone always registers as CDC Serial

Ebay LS997 w/ US996 firmware rooting?

So my beloved LS997's charging port has given up the good fight and no longer works, so I have been hamstringing it along charging batteries outside the phone using an external battery charger... And bought myself a "New Unlocked LS997" that came with Android 7.0 with the intention of rooting it and flashing LineageOS on it and being good to go.
Problem though, Dirty Santa doesn't seem to work beyond step one, and when I attempt to flash a different KDZ per other rooting methods I am getting a SPC code error preventing me from flashing said KDZ.
Anyone have any luck rooting these devices? Thanks in advance!

Use the How to root ZV7 guide by runningnaked. Also you need to flash the vs995 file with Uppercut or the modified Uppercut floating around somewhere. If you are past ZV7 you can't do anything for root. With Uppercut make sure your phone is all set for adb and properly connected. Then also try to open Uppercut as administrator. It will show dump system and other options at bottom if loaded correctly.
If us996...then try the official lg unlock bootloader method. What I described is for ls997.
Ls997 cross flashed to us996...idk. depends on what software version if that's that case.
As for adb...when connected to PC make sure to also have photo transfer selected instead of file tranfer.
If it's an LS997 that's been cross-flashed to US996 firmware, then it should be rootable because if it weren't , then you wouldn't even be able to cross-flash anything on it.

I used the modified LGUP found over here.
Make sure you put the phone in download mode (with the phone powered off, hold down volume-up, then connect the phone via USB to your computer) before running LGUP. The rooting guides don't mention this since they assume you know how to downgrade firmware before starting the main rooting procedure.

My mistake...yes download mode before lg up...not adb. True on the cross flashed and being rootable.
