Hi
I am wondering if there is any TWRP version that supports Data Encryption/Decryption for huawei P8 lite? I have the password for my encrypted data but TWRP always shows failed to mount /data (Invalid argument). Is there a way where we can get TWRP to prompt for password and use it to decrypt the data so that /data can be mounted? Wiping the data and mounting will work, but just wondering if this feature is available in TWRP, be it older version or newer ones. Please comment if you know of any direction that I can explore!
Thank you!

Hi, i was trying to change from c432 to al10 to install the latest firmware but in the process i bricked my mate 8.. i tried flashing the twisted mate rom but it stays in the boot screen and doesnt finish to boot... and when i try to format the system TWRP says 'unable to mount storage' 'Failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument)
...is there a way to format my data partition and have it again????
Ok, i managed to get the C432B320 stock working, after reading a lot i found that TWRP doesn't mount the data partition unless we finish the initial setup of the rom, so i went and flashed the al10 b361 and could boot and use it for a while... i noticed that i couldn't read my external sd card and neither had network, the phone said 'no service'.. does anybody knows??
After using the al10 b361 for a while i reunlocked (even saying that it was unlocked i had to unlock it again) the bootloader and TWRP and installed the stock c432b320 and rooted it, i still didnt have external sd card or network, they started working again after changing back my oeminfo to c432 again, weird.. for the sdcard i would say that it was encrypted somehow but not sure why the network wouldn't work.
What do you think @Ephemera?? i love your Twisted Mated Rom but i've been having trouble with the original huawei camera app and wanted to have the latest version of the chinese region.

you need olddroid's twrp!!!
Read the f****** instructions. Also you need to be at least on b370!
So how can we fix it?
Hello everyone!
I have a P9 lite VNS-L31 running 7.0.1. on EMUI 5.0.2..
However during a factory wipe, it stopped booting correctly and I can't get passed from neither bootloader nor recovery.
I have TWRP Revolution v.260317 (TWRP 3.1.0-0) installed and my main problem is that for some reason the phone says that I have no internal storage whatsoever and if I try to wipe the /data partition it fails to mount it (error: Failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)).
I tried any of the methods in videos titled "how to fix unable to mount /data" (sorry, I cannot post links :/ ) but with no luck.
I can't seem to repair nor resize nor change file system of the /data partition. When trying to repair data using e2fsck it gives out the message:
" /sbin/e2fsck -fp process ended with ERROR: 16"
Any ideas?
I can use recovery and fastboot if necessary.

Well, more or less, but I managed to solve it!
I found out that the reason why it said there was 0mb of internal storage was because the bootloader that was previously unlocked turned itself locked, that's why it couldn't mount the /data partition. I just used SKR Tool to unlock the bootloader and after that yes, I installed that version of TWRP that you linked.
I also found out that the Revolution TWRP installed in the eRecovery partition (/recovery2 ?) instead of the normal recovery partition. What image is supposed to be installed in that partition?
That is the second recovery partition (another recovery) aka huaweis last ditch attempt to fix a broken phone. There's no actually problem if u don't have it-as most of the time (in my experience) its utter garbage, but there's no harm in flashing it if u want.
U can extract it from ur update.app file using huawei update extractor.

Yeah, I tried to install the RECOVERY2.img that I extracted from the UPDATE.app and it didn't work so I just didn't bother and installed the TWRP again.
But at least everything is solved!
Thanks
So, after a few months on Oreo I clean flashed DotOS Pie last night, got the whole thing set up and tried to encrypt phone. It now bootloops, but I can get to TWRP, which shows me a pattern to decrypt data, even though my phone had PIN lock. I did the trick to "translate" between PIN and pattern grid. TWRP shows me "data successfully decrypted, new block device: '/dev/block/dm-0'", but I can't mount /data (consequently can't mount /sdcard), though I can mount /system. TWRP's console shows "Failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)".
I know I can just format /data on the wipe menu to get rid of encryption, but since I don't have a backup of /sdcard, I would like to know if there is any way to get /data mounted again so I can backup my internal storage before formatting /data.
If it makes any difference, my TWRP version is 3.2.1-0, latest one available at twrp.me. I heard that 3.2.1-1 handles encryption better (even better than more recent versions on some devices), but it's not available on the official site.
--Other details that might be relevant, but I'm not sure:
1. I do have TiBu's backup on my computer, so if I must restore my apps I'm fine with it (though I don't have a backup of the whole internal storage);
2. I also have a Nandroid backup of /system, /data and /boot, but it's on the phone storage only;
3. Last, but not least, I have flashed latest Magisk just before encrypting the device.
I saw some stuff related to a no-verity encryption zip file to be flashed via TWRP in some discussions regarding other devices, would it be of any help in my case?
@anupritaisno1 sorry to bother you, but you're the one person to ask for help with TWRP on OP2. Could you lend me a hand here? Would your enhanced TWRP help in my case? I know one shouldn't restore backups made with one version of TWRP within another version, and also that the tempcache stuff needs to be set up to flash ROMs. My plan here, if this could help, was to see if your enhanced TWRP can successfully decrypt my /data and internal storage, then I would back up my internal storage to my computer and either set up tempcache or reflash official 3.2.1-0 to format data and flash the ROM again.
Thanks in advance.
Hello;
I wanted to root my G935W8 Oreo 8.0.0, i already flashed TWRP 3.2.3 with ODIN v3.13.1.
The problem is when i'm on recovery mode and i use TWRP in order to install zip it shows me that internal storage is 0 MB
And when i choose Micro SD card to install Magisk-v19.zip and i confirm flash, it shows me in red:
could not mount /data and unable to find cryptofooter.
failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument)
unable to recreate /data/media folder.
unable to mount /data/media/twrp/.twrp.
Can anyone help me to root it.
Thanks.

I know it's a bit late to write to you, but now I got the same phone. The same thing happened to me and I discovered a solution and it is the following: download the latest twrp then the patched version of Odin, it can be version 3.13 or 3.14 which is the final one. Once you have all that in Odin disable the automatic reboot option in (ap) put the twrp.md5.tar, then put the phone in download mode and install it. Once installed, press the power button and volume down for a few seconds until the phone turns off. Now enter the recovery, then go to the format option and write (yes) so that all the information is erased and ready, you can see the internal memory. The only bad thing that I found is that the original system is not Root since the system is damaged, so you have to install the Floyd s7 version 5 rom. It is the most stable version and has Android 10, and you have to root it install later. If you install this rom there are some patches that are to record in 4k at 60 frames and have ar-sticker.
