Yes, its source code. Yes its various packages. But in what way does this relate to our device and is it useful?

One step closer to the no app preferences solution...maybe

So here is the thing that might happened to you, after some usage time on all firmwares that i used so far it reaches a point (suddenly) where applications can no longer get to their own preferences.
This post here talks about the same problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978012 and Dark3n here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013063 developed a app thinking about that problem, but it wont solve it although it makes a wonderful job getting rid of unnecessary files.
The thing is i never care too much about the problem because by the time it happens a new firmware is already released and it just encourages me to install it, even so this is a major problem...let me rephrase...MAJOR PROBLEM.
So right now i am using 2.2.1 XXJQ1 and i was thinking about installing the new 2.3 firmware that is out for some days and, guess what...suddenly the "no shared preferences for you" problem appeared. Grrr now it's confirmed until the current firmware this problem exists and i haven't seen any cause or fix for the problem after digging around the web. (of course factory reset works but it is not a valid solution to the problem)
Since the problem is with the apps preferences i went and checked the folders /dbdata/databases/ and /data/data/ and the permissions on those were quite low especially everything inside /data/data/ (sorry don't remember the actual permissions by the time). Then i just thought well if this is a permissions thing let me chmod -R 777 * on those, i went ahead and did just that and...ttaddamm problem solved the preferences don't go to default screen no more and they got their preferences right were i left em
Now doing chmod -R 777 * on those folders might not be the securest thing to do but so far (like 1hour ago) and 2 reboots after the apps have their preferences as they should.
The thing is .... does the permissions on those folders changed suddenly? If so what could be the origin of that change?
If anyone currently with that problem could try and change permissions on those folders and report back if it worked for them would be awesome.
Another request i make, if possible is if anyone not having the problem would be kind enough to post the default permissions on those folders.
Errrr...anyone?

/dbdata/databases/ drwxrwxrwx
/data/data/ drwxrwx--x
Sorry I tend to forget how to evaluate the number.
Your problem did not happen to me, up till know.
thanks hlaube, any chance you or anyone can tell me the permissions for the package folders inside those?are they the same?
I just flashed stock JVB, flashed CF-root kernel, and then flashed the rom "Simply Honey". Haven't done much installation and setting, so access rights are as they where set up by the maker of the FW.
And now you have a list of my favorit App's as well

Maybe it's a problem with the partitions size , you can check it by running :
cat /proc/mtd
And
cat /proc/partitions in adb
And post the results here

When you get the phone to boot into android I'd be more than happy to beta/alpha test, but with this being my daily driver (duh) I kinda wanna keep my buddy awake when I'm at school, but if it gets really rough then I'll pitch in, but yea same error here
"KERNAL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING"
I would donate but I have no job and alas no money.
Good luck though! Can't wait to see CM13 running on the J700P, shoulda gone with Verizon, lol.

Look at Xiaomi for your next phone. IIRC they have CDMA bands.

I want a more popular/mainstream phone I'd love a nexus but I'm thinking I might have a wider selection of roms if I went Galaxy.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll look into it, it's gonna be a while before I cut myself off from Virgin Mobile (can't stand the signal though).

Oh no, I'm just going to replace this phone. If you want to send it I'll try using it to fix my phone, but I'm set on a new one.

Why not? If you ever decide to pickup again you'll be glad it's alive and it doesn't take to long to backup w/ TWRP
How about keeping this thread clean for tester posts only... Btw Ill be buying an iphone soon afterwards if this project is still going ill donate this phone to the cause and use it for testing. (I hop back and forth between boost mobile phones)

+1 for this , guys please take your conversations to the pm , I'm busy with my college those days but i will try to create a bootable build in the next days and will share it here to test

TWRP for the SM-J727R4

If any of you SM-J727R4 users can run and get the output of these 2 commands, I'll create a TWRP build for the device (SM-J727R4).
Code:
adb shell ls -al /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/partitions
adb shell ls -al /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name

Oh, I didn't need you to redo it, I wanted to verify if it's present in Developer Settings or not. If you don't have OEM Unlock in Developer Settings, then you can't flash anything.

Yeah, but currently I'm neck deep in resolving a bug on the other J7 variant. Soon I'll have a build up for ya guys, and if all goes well, we can have an official build for the J727R4.

Format data and flash magisk/superSU and you'll be out of the bootloop. That's normal behavior because of dm-verity

Oh I meant either magisk or superSU, but not both. Be sure you format data in twrp, and yes you can restore your system

Cool, I'll get this device rolling with official TWRP builds, and I'll build Lineage for it once it's stable on the sprint J7

Supereasy just flash the twrp the link is in this thread then download magisk manger and flash that MAKE SURE TO WIPE DATA AND STUFF AFTER or bootloop will happen. I had to restore my device many times before finally getting it, verify with root checker no need for supersu. Once i booted and had root i backed up my boot and system incase a restore needed but havent had a issue at all since. Its been a while since i did this so ill try to remember if u have problems.

Haier - Android TV Firmware Dump [Help Needed]

Hi, my name is Kaleb, I am somewhat new to the android Rom development process. I have a Haier 43" LED Smart TV that I wish to make better by developing a custom Google or Android TV Rom. This Rom won't be for me alone however, it would be nice to turn these useless smart TVs into sumen a little better. It may not have much RAM, hover i have seen android 12 run on an ancient Samsung galaxy, so i have faith that this could be a great project and challenge.
Below I attached the files I could have gotten form the device. I would try daily to see how far i can get, I am still looking for decent tools to get the entire firmware out. If you have any recommendations, please send them my way.
Update so using "WwR_2.51_Eng" I was able to somewhat see what block certain files needed are located in. Below is the Info acquired.
