Hi!
Just got my fifth Nexus 7 replacement and woohooo, it has no screen separation or creaking! BUT! It has some minor backlight bleeding in the top edge of the screen. Nothing I notice on normal brightness but when I crank the brightness up to the highest I can see it. Yes I have a small case of tech OCD Should I keep the device or should any degree of backlight bleed be returned at once?
All up to you. Mine has very little screen bleed and very little lift and I'm keeping it.

Personally, I would keep it. How often do you use your N7 with the brightness all the way up? I would say you're lucky to get one with no separation or creaking. Plus it doesn't seem like the minor bleeding would interfere with your everyday use of the tablet.

Yep, it's a fact of life with IPS panels. I would stop looking on the Internet trying to find problems that aren't there...

If it bothers you, exchange it. I have exchanged 5 and am keeping one with several very minor faults because faultless does not exist with the Nexus 7. If you believe those that say theirs is totally flawless, keep exchanging and you may get one eventually. I don't think there are any perfect ones though.

I have decided to keep it. Had screen separation on all 4 previous Nexus 7 tablets but this one is perfect, no sign of screenlift after 3 days of heavy use. The backlight bleed is there but so minor that Im not noticing it under normal use.
I absolutley love this device!
Have some minor backlight bleed too, going to return it before the warranty period is over
I also have some back light bleeding and I get a nasty wave effect when I put a little more than normal pressure on just the left side above the one corner i have light bleed. Im out of warranty now, so that's no longer an option. Any one have a suggestion, I found some things about the Transformer suffering from the same issues but not much help.

I have had this wave/ripple effect on all the Nexus 7 tablets that I received as replacements. I think it is present on all Nexus 7 tablets out there. So its something we have to live with I guess.

thanks for the info I noticed this too however I had this happen on my nook tablet too
My Z5p suffers from backlight bleed, mostly from the top. It is something I could live with, until I noticed something terrible during its "Optimizing apps" when it was rebooting. I could see a white light coming from under the top bezel. It is only visible from a certain angle and can not be seen when looking at the screen directly. I tested this afterwards on every background and picture I had, still visible. I immediately sent it for service.
The latest report said that they could not replicate the issue, so I sent them a sh*tload of pictures showing the problem. They still have not answered. I will keep updating this thread until this issue has been resolved.
Sorry for the bad quality on the pictures, taken with my sh*tty camera on Oneplus One

All the phones I still have and had is LCD, not one of them has/had this amount of bleeding like my Z5p, not even my Oneplus One (does not have it at all) with its sh*tty quality control they had when I bought it (August 2014). If you had read more thorough, the first thing I stated before was that I could live with backlight bleed, but not when I noticed the white light coming from beneath the bezel.
I don't think thats particularly bad.... check out my Surface Pro 4 screen bleed.

Your backlight bleed seems to be much worse when looking at the screen head on. Have you tried tilting the device and checked to see if the bleed comes from beneath the bezel deeper inside? It is a white light on full brightness no matter what brightness the phone is on. It reminds me of when the bezel of a phone shatters and light constantly shines through the cracks.
It's nothing new to me, my Xperia S and Z1 have the same issue since day one.

Yes, it's because the backlight doesn't shut off when you get in standby mode.

Hello, now that the Note 7 is dead the V20 is my best option here. I am worried about back light bleed from the 2nd screen and screen ghosting on the V20 I Had very bad screen ghosting with the V10 especially when playing games. I would even get screen ghosting while being on the home screen the status bar and navigation keys would ghost into the display for a long time. I always had my brightness below 20% and this still happened. Does anyone think these issues will be present with the V20?
As an educated guess I don't think it's going to be an issue, but we really won't know until people get their hands on these awesome devices...
cant remember who, but a reviewer on youtube running the preproduction model said there was light bleed from the second screen and around the bottom as well. who knows.

I just watched it about 30 mins ago. It's the Android Headlines "LG V20 Full Review." Hopefully just some preproduction units have that issue...
I have a production North American unit, I see a very very slight light bleed on the top left of the screen. Doesn't bother me and only saw it when I looked for it.

no ghosting after running a few benchmarks back to back, reboot, run again on my new v20.
I concur with the V10 screen issue, my v10 has really bad ghosting
I do have slight bleeding in the second screen lower left corner (only visible in a dark room though) on my v20
I was looking for some info what it might be that im starting to notice as apps change maybe we can chime in now that it been a year. I forsure get ghosting from my home screen to others and back. Yes there is definite bleed from the second screen. I just ran the LCD test and during a few of the color test i see my status bar and the out line from the calendar app i use as a home page. I keep my screen on all the time and run about 50% brightness with the comfort view on high.
Here is my two hour old Pixel 2 XL VS Huawei Mate 9. My pixel has a build date of 10/12/2017.

[Pictures took a dump]
Google RMAed my phone after I sent them those pictures.
UPDATE:
1. All OLED have some sort of color shift.
2. Not all OLED screens have a strong color shift
3. Not all Pixel Two XL's are created equal. Some have more color shift than others.
4. This is the only good phone on Verizon that will have custom ROM support.
5. Anyone on a GSM carrier should learn to live with the color shift or buy a OnePlus device.
6. LG still has QC issues on ever phone they make.
My replacement device still has a blue tint but it is better than my original device.
Overall this is the best phone on the market currently with Verizon support. I got to use my dad's iPhone X today and iOS is not ready for a phone without a home button.
Update 12/17/17:
I am on my third device and all three had noticable blue shift. The second device had screen burn in.

Viewing angle.
Sorry for dumb question. What differences am I looking for between the pictures?
I just got mine today in US. I honestly don't have any complaints with mine. I downloaded Oreo Colorizer to give the display a wider range of colors, which works for now. I'm sure Google will address the colors with an update. As for the tint, maybe I'm just not seeing it, but this screen looks gorgeous to me at all angles.

The pixel two XL has a blue tint notably on the top of the screen when looking at an angle. The mate 9 has no such tint.
My V30 has the same blue tint issue. It won't change unless Google decides to switch display partners
The blue tint is from the polarizer. If you want a new screen, let it be for another reason - you have a few to chose from, potentially.

we need everyone to start posting the hardware version that are having issues. Under About Phone -> Model. Mine shows hardware revision 10. I have no issues so far.

I'm also hardware revision 10. The blue tint is there, but it's much more subtle in person than what I was expecting based upon the videos and pictures I saw before getting the phone. I don't know if it means I have an updated version with the display issue toned down, however. But I thought it was worth mentioning.

Right. I figure at least we can track revisions this way and can determine when its changed and if its better.

If the blue tint was from the polarizer, wouldn't all LCD screens suffer this? LG has plenty of experience making LCD screens, the majority of which polarizers do not cause this blue shift.
Could blue tint also come from using plastic as substrate and potentially being less transparent to longer wavelengths than glass? Viewing at a less than 90° angle increasing the amount of plastic the light has to travel through and thus potentially filtering out more of the lower energy (longer, red-er) wavelengths?

Mine is rev 10 as well. I'm starting to get use to the blue tint. I am very curious to see what differences the replacement device will have. The one I have now is a Canadian model even though I am in the US.

That makes sense to me. I had heard about the polarizer and wondered what if anything that would do to the look of the screen.
It would take awhile before anyone starts seeing revised versions and that's even if Google does anything about it. I have a feeling they probably won't do any major hardware revisions and just push a software update out for screen saturation.

It would be good to mention build date as well. Fixes in production quality (both display plant and phone assembly) will not increase hw version. HW-version increases when the hw-design is changed by R&D (new PCB, changed components etc).

But these issues are not new to Google, of course they have seen these issues during normal internal testing and beta test.
And some issues might be basic production issues solved in the next batches.
Regardless, it is very difficult to predict what happens and when.
Also sad to see that Google does not respond at all so far.

Might be dumb question but we're do I find my build date.My XL 2 has the screen burn in ,the blue tint , and now while on phone call loud pitch and phone reboots 2 to 3 times a day .Google shipped me a new replacement arriving today see if there's any difference.Google has been very accommodating but still in denial there's a real problem

Pretty much all screens use a standard polarizer, the Pixel 2 phones use circular polarization, however if it was the polarizer you would expect it on the Pixel 2 non-XL model as well, so I don't think it is the polarizer, but who knows, maybe it is an interaction between the circular polarizer and the POLED vs the SAMOLED.

but for you i think your screen will bleed on all sides of the phone like mine (Top,Left,Right,Below) and in about 1cm in length.

Most reviews of RN7 do mention a little screen bleeding with white colors, i don't really mind myself as the bleeding is small and doesn't bother at all.
