Galaxy S8 Installing System Update Loop (VZW) - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I recently was given a phone from a friend. He told me that his phone worked fine until he powered it on one morning and it was stuck in a loop. I do not know exactly what firmware version it is on but I have downloaded a number of versions from Sammobile. I have attempted to use Odin to flash the stock files onto the phone but it has failed every single time. I have tried to use different versions of Odin aswell. I have also spent countless hours trying to find the solution through other XDA posts but nothing I have found so far has worked. Going into further detail with Odin, I have posted a picture of my settings. The first 2 attempts just end with "<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)." When I try a 3rd time, it reaches the initializing process but Odin closes after a few minutes of saying that. The screen on the phone doesn't seem to change at all either. I have installed firmware before on other phones, but this phone just doesn't seem to work.
I am willing to give more information or try other things if anyone has the ability to assist me. Thanks All!

Did I brick my phone following instructions on apps to freeze?

I'm freaking a little here, so pardon me. Battery life on my phone (even with new batter(ies) got terrible (less than 16 hrs) so I looked through a post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483927 for apps I could freeze , froze them and rebooted. Now my phone gets to the big white V over the word VERIZON on a red field and just freezes there. When the phone started before, when the Samsung "Galaxy Note 3" logo came up, it said something afterwords - I don't remember the wording, but it started right after I rooted. It had something to do with the rooting. Anyway, apparently something I froze had to do with the proper operation of the rooting. So now I think I need to start the phone in some kind of "safe mode" and undo what I'd frozen. I just have no idea at all how to do that. I managed to get it into safe mode once, but it only stayed there a few minutes and then went right back to the endless V. I haven't been able to get it back into safe mode. It doesn't respond to the keys after I power it up - although I CAN get it into recovery mode. When it was in safe mode though, it showed no menus or icons and being that it didn't respond to the keys, I couldn't access any apps. I'd even be more than happy to just flash back to defaults (unrooted) but I have no idea how to do that either. I've got no phone right now - and I have another 2 years to pay on a piece of crap I can't even use.
This is a rooted Note 3. I don't remember what method I used to root it - I didn't know they were so different, but I know towelroot was installed. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Is it 900v?
Don't listen to the safe to remove threads. Happened to me too old note 1 days when I was on tw.
Go to sammobile dot com
Search for firmware for your model or carrier. Flash with odin. Search yt fir how to use odin or XDA it. You simply start with flash.
I think Verizon has the ? bootloader. You may find it hard to reroot. And you should for the sake of root flash the oldest firmware from sammobile. Just to be sure you can reroot if there is a method.

So I downloaded the oldest firmware Sammobile had for my Note (4.3). I downloaded Odin. The suggested version for 4.3 was Odin 3.9, so that's what I tried. I downloaded and installed the latest Samsung USB drivers. Then I started Odin and followed This guide: http://www.droidviews.com/install-stock-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-devices-using-odin/ . I did it 3 times. Each time it failed. The info in the message box was:
aboot.mbn
FAIL! (Auth)
Complete (Write) Operation failed.
All threads completed. (Succeed 0 / failed 1)
Did I miss something?

So, as a last resort I decided to give the ROM for 5.0 a shot with Odin. It actually worked. My phone now starts. Sort of. I mean bluetooth starts (at least according to my Galaxy tablet and Galaxy Gear watch), but I have no desktop on the phone or way of accessing any of my apps. I have no clue. I've got a menu bar across the top, but the settings menu doesn't respond. Looks like a trip to the Verizon store is in order.

Damn. As a very very last resort, I decided to try a factory reset. Doing one and choosing during it to import my old apps and settings resulted in the same no desktop. Doing a factory reset again but choosing to "set up as a new phone" gives me a desktop. And Android 5.0. Go figure. Now I gotta download and set up all my apps again - pair it with my tablet and Gear, but at least it's working. I don't have to buy another phone. Thank Odin.

Lol.
Some times you have to backup data. But you almost have to reinstall apps from play store with such issues you had.

I'm actually not that upset. I WAS getting worse and worse battery life. All I really lost was time and a few pictures I hadn't backed up on my computer, but I had backups of all my music, ringtones and my contacts were saved, so it's not bad. Except for that god-awful light blue background color in the menus.

Stuck without a solution, any help would be appreciated

Hey guys!
This is my very first post here. I have been an active "guest" on this website over several years as I was always able to find answers to any questions I had here. But today I have finally reached a dead end road so I had to resort to finally creating an account to ask a question.
Phone info:
Canadian Samsung Galaxy S4 (Rogers) SGH-I337M
CM 11-20151004-NIGHTLY-jflte
Android 4.4.4
Baseband I337MVLUAMG1
Kernel 3.4.104-cyanogenmod-g8b03f0c [email protected] #1
Problem #1:
I haven't had any phone service in over a year now, I've just been on wifi. Over this time, I've been updating CM every now and then. I now have gotten a contract with my phone provider again, they gave me a sim card I put it in, it works... kind of. Connection to the network stays only until I lock the phone (or it locks it self due to inactivity), swipe to unlock and service is gone, I get an icon saying "no service (rogers wireless) unavailable". It sometimes comes back on its own, and goes again. I have tried every possible solution I could find online and nothing seems to work. APNs are fine, ive double checked that they are correct. I've seen some posts suggesting that CM11 couldve screwed up my modem somehow but no other information I could find on that.
Problem #2:
So 2 days later (so much for my weekend) I have decided that maybe I should just dump CM and go back to original firmware. I found several tutorials and read them before doing anything, seeing what potential problems I can run into. Everything seemed straight forward. So I have downloaded the right firmware (5.0.1 for my phone from SamMobile) and decided to give it a go. I've tried it twice now and Odin keeps saying;
<ID:0/025> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<ID:0/025> Added!!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Luckly I haven't completely bricked my phone, it still boots into damn indestructible (buggy) CM! But I am just a bit out of luck I guess, I am really frustrated as I am paying for phone contract now but cannot use it to call or text. This might be a rookie question, but I no "flashing stock firmware tutorials" have provided many guidelines on whether I have to format anything though recovery mode before flashing stock firmware, just gets straight to it. Maybe its common sense? But I really dont know any better. So its a bit of a two way road now, a solution to either of the problems would be greatly appreciated. I hope I have provided enough information, please don't judge this is my first post here and I have looked for answers before posting.
In advance, huge thanks!
Use the original cable, and move it to another port. Sometimes Odin is picky about these things.

Rooting FAIL on Samsung Galaxy S7 Sprint. Need help getting back old OS

Hello,
I need help with my phone. I did something stupid last night and tried to root my phone because the Sprint bloatware on my phone is extremely annoying and I wanted to remove it so I tried to root my phone. Apparently it does not work on Sprint phones (so people say) and I did not know that because I am an idiot. I know the process on how to re install the firmware but I am always getting errors from the program i am using. (Oden3 V3 12) and I never ussed this program before until now but I get how it works. The phone worked perfectly fine before I done this, right now its just a software/firmware/OS issue. The bloatware that made me do this in the first place is draining my battery, all I wanted was to improve my phone.
I guess I will tell you all about my phone and what I see and all that. :
This is a Sprint USA Samsung galaxy S7 SM-G930P. I tried installing everything using Oden and sammobile -> firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930P/SPR/ (wont let me post urls because I am new to this xda site so put "sammobile com/" in front of it)
I downloaded every single zip file on this site for "Galaxy S7 SM-G930P - SPR Spint (cdma)" and tried almost every one because 5 more are still downloading while I am writing this message. I am keep on getting the same error or similar when using oden. on my phone it says this in red (In the download mode) :
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 6 > Binary 5
[1] eMMC write fail: aboot
This is what it says on Oden:
FAIL! (Auth)
Completed(Write) operation failed.
all threads completed. (succeed 0 . failed 1)
So I did look at youtube videos on how to solve this but I have no idea. I dont know my IMEI because I dont have the box and I cant go in my phone to check it. I could always open my phone by using a hairdryer but I dont want to wreck the hardware as well. I am actually kind of desperate and I dont know much about phones and all that so I am actually willing to give anyone my old Z2 phone if they can help me solve this. Not sure if thats allowed but I just want my phone back as it was before. (I dont care if all my data is gone, probably gone anyway). Also one more thing, it was doing a boot loop thing before but now it says "an error has occurred while updating the device software. Use emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software." I actually installed this smart switch and well.. it did not recognize my phone, dont know why but I cant do that. I also tried the method of doing a flash and it will not work for me as in it will not show up on my phone
THANK YOU who ever helps me with this problem

Your current bootloader is on version 6. The firmware you were trying to flash has a bootloader version 5. Downgrading bootloaders is not allowed by Samsung/Sprint. You need to get the latest firmware which isn't up on Sammobile yet.
I would take it to sprint. Pretty sure they can fix it without issue.

Root attempt fail, "kernel is not Seandroid" bootloop.

Bought a Galaxy S7 Edge today from a coworker, SM-G935F, Verizon variant (as far as I know. She bought it brand new and used it on Verizon.) First thing I tried to do was root it using this method -- https://theunlockr.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s7-s7-edge/
(basically used Odin to flash Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR)
Got a "Pass!" message in Odin, rebooted the phone.
Was greeted with a pretty red-colored message on the top left, "kernel is not Seandroid" followed by a continuous bootloop. Would automatically shut off on its own, etc. Had to boot into recovery to actually power it off. (Still stock recovery, by the way)
Anyway. Googled the error, didn't seem like a big deal with so many results and "Solved" also being prominant. Tried to revert back to the stock firmware and got this in Odin's log:
<ID:0/003> Re-Partition operation failed.
Came across another post suggesting to un-tick the "re-partition" option in Odin, which it already was/is. Now I'm kind of lost on what to do. Came across one thread suggesting that the firmware on my device doesn't match the one that I downloaded which.. I have no idea how to check that given I'm unable to even boot the device. I do recall seeing 2017 briefly when scrolling through the build/kernel section, possibly December 2017 if my memory serves me correctly.
Another thread suggested something about flashing a .pit file.
Does anyone know I how I can get this back up and running? Preferably rooted?
Thanks much in advance!

re-flashing stock OS onto Samsung Galaxy S8

Model: SM-G950F
Build Number: PPR1.180610.011.G850FXXUCDUD1
So I recently flashed /e/ OS (a fork of Lineage if anyone is unfamiliar). Unfortunately, /e/ was giving my phone problems, and also Verizon doesn't work with it, so I decided to flash Android 9 Pie back onto it. After hunting down the version of my phone's firmware (I live in the US but my phone is a refurbished phone from the UK), I downloaded it, plugged the BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC into PrinceComsy Odin. In TWRP I formatted the storage and all that, and then I flashed it using Odin. I got the green "Pass!" and the <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0) messages, but when I went to TWRP's reboot screen, it said there was no OS.
Are there settings I am missing or something? I have the G850FXXUCDUD1 firmware, I tried combinations of just flashing the AP and CSC, just AP, AP BL and CSC, so on and so forth, but no dice.
I've scoured the internet for help but nothing I have tried has solved the issue, so I figured I'd try here. Any help literally at all would be appreciated. If you need more information on the device or what I did in specific I would be happy to oblige. Thank you in advance!
EDIT: I've only gotten into software hacking relatively recently, and XDA-Developers even more so. As you can tell by the age of my account, this is the first time I've ever posted or anything haha. I tend to lurk on tech forums. Anyhoo that is all
EDIT 2: I downloaded Odin 3.13.3 and am trying that. Thus far it either fails or gets stuck on SetupConnection
EDIT 3: I downloaded a different zip from a different source for my phone. It succeeded in Odin, put the default recovery back on my phone, but now it is stuck on the samsung logo when trying to boot.
