I have search everywhere on this device yet it seems like OnePlus doesn't have any settings for blocking private numbers. I have been able to find these settings on every other OEM under basic call settings. Surely I'm mistaken and it's just hidden somewhere right? Any help from would be appreciated and have a good day.
I was looking for same thing and ended using an app for blocking private calls.

In call history, just hold your finger on a number, let go, select the three dots, select block number.
On my OnePlus 5T there is no way to block private numbers, just ones with a phone number.

I was wondering if there are any apps to block specific phone numbers? Sometimes I get spam from party promoters and I have no idea how they got my number. And clingy ex-girlfriends As far as I know the only way to block numbers is to get your service provider to do it (I might be wrong?), so I thought it would be nice if there were an app that could do it for you, like you could enter a list of the numbers you want to block, and when you're looking at a list view of your text messages or call history, there would be a "block number" option. Is there anything like this?

I haven't tried this myself as I don't get any calls I need to block at the moment but this is supposed to do what you want (CallFirewall):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307178
In order to block a number from calling your phone, there's a section in the My Account Preferences within Sprint's dashboard that allows you enter the number you want to block and it'll stop calling you.
On the GS7, when you go to the call log and tap on the number, it gives you a screen where you can delete that log item or it says "MORE" in the top right-hand corner that gives you an option to "Block/unblock number".
I don't believe these two things are related but does anyone know how they differ and if I should avoid using the feature on the phone instead of going into the account?

I personally think that they both do the same thing. It's not unheard of when dealing with Sprint. You can also do the same thing (block a certain number from calling you) within your messages app. Just open your messages app and select the message you want, then again in the top right corner of your screen select the "more" option and in the drop down menu almost at the bottom there's a "block message" option that if you select that, another pop up will come up that has 2 options: #1 is to block all calls from this number #2 is to block all texts from this number. All these things I believe do the same thing... IMO

I called Sprint to verify that using the phone to block numbers does not relate to blocking numbers on the My Sprint account. I don't want to block #s locally because if I change phones I lose all those blocked numbers and have to start over again.
So yes, they might do some of the same things but one is localized to the phone and the other is global to the Sprint account for your phone number. I prefer the global blocking via the Sprint account since it should be phone agnostic.

Hey all its been a while since I posted here, I know a few are having this issue.
-when receiving a call from some one that's is in your address book, it only displays a phone number . No name or picture.
What's iv tried, resetting phone, adding a few contacts to my sim, tried adding contacts from my goolgle account directly to my phone address book.
I was on the ZTE site where the same question has arised but no fix as of yet. Was wondering if someone on here had cracked this problem.
Thanks in advance! :good:
https://community.zteusa.com/thread/13209
Someone put up a youtube fix for that on the same thread you linked. Seems like it solve that problem.
Honestly this zmaxpro is good on the outside but rotten in the inside, seriously. Too many bugs. I don;t know if it is the phone build or the new verity security google or android put on. It's nuts. How can you really put a proper security on something that started as OPEN source?!
Nutty.
Try this video that someone made. I tried it and it worked for me. https://youtu.be/W6xFNNW8PxM

Easier fix
I found a much easier fix. Go to the permissions on T-Mobile Nam ID and turn contacts on. That did the trick for me.
solved zte z981 caller ID not displaying
thank u for sharing. I was able to fix my caller ID not displaying

Yes, that worked for me also. Since I have yet to attain the status of being able to post outside link, there is a simple method by Hiii People on youtube.
Here's a little tip for those who are using this phone with a non-Tmobile sim, in which case the Tmobile CallerID app doesn't function right, and causes the names not to show up on incoming calls. If it's a MetroPCS used with a non-MetroPCS sim, you may need to substitute the Tmobile NameID app with MetroPCS NameID. I know this is easy stuff, but some people get confused , so here are two workarounds:
1. When the NameID app gets stuck loading, press the Recents button, hold down the top left corner of the app card, then press the top right.
Finally go to permissions and select the Contacts to be On.
2. Simply go to Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Tmobile NameID app, and from there just like above go to permissions and select the Contacts to be On.
Hi,
is there a way to Block private/unknown calls on stock rom?? Tryed bunch of apps and not working..
any help?
thanks
Truecaller works pretty well
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.truecaller&hl=en_US
Also Calls Blacklist - Call Blocker works well too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vladlee.easyblacklist&hl=en_US
Both give you the option to automatically block private/unknown numbers. They also give you the option to block a number series (ex. Block numbers that start with 1877)
@ ogkillergreen,
i have tryed truecaller and calls blacklist but they aren't working prorperly..
TRuecaller never blocked a private call... the call blacklist blocks on the begining but then stops to block..
any ideas or solution?
thanks

Did i go through all the settings? what do you mean by that? i choose to block unknown/private calls and it didn't block none..
any idea?
thanks
Typically (at least for the "calls blacklist" app) the app asks if you want to set up the app as your "default phone" app. If you choose not to do this, then it will not "intercept" any call blocking you have configured. Check to see in your apps, which is the default "phone". If its still your actual "phone" app, then these apps will not be able to block anything.
I actually use Hiya, costs $2.99/month for Android users. (Works on iOS as well). It can do a ton of stuff you are looking for.

In the app i'm using, it initially didn't block either.... coz i missed a few steps (I'm using the app i mentioned in my earlier post, "calls blacklist"). I loaded the app, and turned on the "calls" (I didn't enable sms). Then, i figured out, i had to hit that little "down arrow" on the right, and actually select "private" and "unknown" numbers. Mine has been blocking ever since.
I block unwanted numbers in the dialer itself,,, I have google dialer installed and don't know if OOS dialer has the same options as the google dialer.
This is what i do ,,,,,, Go to dialer settings in settings you see blocked numbers and caller id and spam.
In blocked numbers you can block the spamcaller.
in Caller Id and spam suspected spamcalls.
I am being bombarded with scam calls all of a sudden. Started a few days ago. They call from the same exchange but different number every time. It has been a total harassment. In my previous phone (ZTE) I could block all calls from numbers that were not in my address book. I don't the S10 Plus is capable of doing this, unless I missed it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
If you are on Android 10 One UI 2.1 then click on the number in recent calls log. Then click the i with a grey circle. Then click block at the bottom.

I know how to block specific numbers but that's not what I am looking for. It doesn't help. I am getting very sophisticated spam calls from same source but different number every time they call, so blocking each number after they call is not helping. What I am looking for is an option that I had in older Android phones and iPhones currently have, which is block any call that is not in my address book.

I think Unknown Callers refer to incoming calls without a Caller ID, calls that says UNKNOWN, not calls that are not in my address book which is what I am trying to block. It is checked and it does not block these calls because they display a number (albeit a fake one).
Try using the Do Not Disturb function with the exception of only allowing phone numbers that are in your contact list. This may be a temporary solution to the issue that you're experiencing. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00077281/

That's a nice solution. Thank you.
you might miss an important call, i did.
i had left a message to a us gov't number recently but had a call-back from an out of state number, not in contacts.....so i sent to vm.
when i heard the voice, it was the mgr of the dep't returning my call.
the vm answered my question but that might not always be the case, if no vm is left.
